Don't really want to blow up the spot, but lately, they've put some money in this place and it shows. Everything is more or less clean, most of the equipment works, the prices aren't bad and a few loads of laundry only take about an hour if your diligent. The clientele are going to vary regardless. I've been coming fairly regularly. My main complaints are that several machines have been out of order for several weeks. The male attendant is foul mouthed and refers to women as 'broads'. This is very offensive. There is no working restroom for patrons. read more

New Canaan is tough to review because it has a lot of dichotomies. Great prices vs. sketchy people coming in and out. Big machines vs. sketchy people trying to get in the bathroom. Nice owners vs. the guy trying to hide somewhere to do his fix. I think you see the issue here. Lots of machines, $1.50 for single loaders - there's quite a few of them, about 5 quad load machines, a 5 load machine and one gigantic 6 load machine ($6.75). There's plenty of folding space, a few video games, easy access to the pub next door and a convenience store and pizza right across the street. The lighting is a little dim and dank, not a lot of light comes in because of how the laundry is situated. If they brightened it up, I think it would help a lot. Back to my original comment - sometimes you go in here and sketchy, druggy type folks come in and out...but not all the time and not as often as a few years ago. When I go in the late mornings to do big comforters, etc, I never have problems. Late afternoons have been when I've seen the most "interesting" people come in. So - if you need a laundry - this facility is better equipped and priced than many in the area (especially Lighthouse on Pearl - avoid that place)...just know you may find the occasional kook in there. read more

As far as laundromats go, it has pretty much what you need. Big and small machine with good prices. The machines are a bit out dated and the place can used a good remodeling. But if you just want to go and get you laundry done and save money then it's a good place. You don't have too many people that you have to wait for a machine so you can get everything done in a timely manner. It's street parking or the parking lot for the pub next door which is a bit tight if you have more than a few cars in there. There are a few sketchy people that tend to come in. But for the most part it's really early in the morning or late at night. The owners have always been nice when I have had to do my laundry and try to help if they can from what I have seen. They have an arcade machine in the back with a pinball machine and touch screen game machine. The bathroom is not all that great so I would avoid using that unless you really have to. Overall, good place to get it done and leave in a reasonable amount of time. read more

The place is decent, I would use again when convenient to my route of travel. I lost money here and you can't get a refund, so make sure the machines you choose show signs of recent successful use. Street parking fills up by the evening, so go here in the morning or afternoon when you aren't in a hurry. Sketchy homeless people are unfortunately a feature of Tacoma with so many welfare services around. read more

Tried this place because my usual was closed. Its not very clean. There was a bum sleeping in the door way. Put my clothes in the dryer. It errored out and ate my money. Left with wet clothes. read more

t's sure nice to have a full service and coin operated laundromat in the neighborhood when you need one. The owner is on site (along with her cute little dogs) and is always friendly. All the machines work and there are enough of them that I have never had to wait. Thank you! read more

I was taking my blankets for washing at a laundromat, and this place is around the corner. I walked in and pretty much walked back out, but not before I saw enough to know I will never go in there again. More than half the machines were out of order. There was a washer with exposed wiring, and a sign saying "don't touch- it will shock you", and a broken window with another sign saying "don't touch- it will cut you". Taking a recommendation from my Mom, who just moved here, I thought I'd give this place a shot as she said it's very inexpensive. Well it cost $6.50 to wash 5 loads and $13.50 to dry. I had to switch all the dryers on the first round to the other brand/styles. 7 of 8 dryers had elements out and didn't even get LUKE WARM on the outside glass. It was also not clean. Well, I would say you get what you pay for but I took clothes home that were still damp after many cycles and two diffetent sets of dryers and spent too much money. If there was a zero star rating, this place would earn it -- easily. Nothing at Canaan has been updated in 20 years. It looks the same -- filthy, with ancient machines, a nasty dry cleaner area run by the people who own the business. The worst part: I didn't know there were other laundromats in Tacoma, so I went here even though it's awful. I was washing my big Isaac Mizrahi comforter (a $200 comforter) and one of the machines ripped it! Then the woman who owns the place with her husband said (and I quote) "It no my machine...my machine no tear. No one ever have problem with machine before. Must be your fabric with problem." Oh wow. I'll never go there again. At $15 to clean and tear my comforter, I'll go to New Era and have a professional who stands behind their work clean it. If you value your things, DO NOT go to Canaan Cleaners. New Era is far better in every way. read more

Love this place for washing and drying comforters. Reasonable prices as well!

I brought my laundry here and had the owner wash it for me. Always clean, and nicely folded! Never had issues and the price for them to do the laundry was great! By the time I separate my laundry into all the different loads I would have almost paid the same price. Parking isn't great, but the woman who did my laundry was very nice. I would recommend them for this service. read more
