When we phoned, we got a real human who was decent, knowledgeable and helpful. The cost of their largest container was 1/5 the monthly rent at the storage facility even though it held the same amount of stuff. Our container was promptly delivered. I was clean with a dark wood laminate floor. We had the option of keeping it in our yard or having it carted away to be stored in their yard in the lower mainland, where we could request it be made available on fairly short notice. We chose to keep in our yard. In either case, you use your own lock. We used it for 5 years. It kept everything clean, bug-free and rodent-free (We have a lot of rats in Steveston.) The mice had been into the storage facility we used earlier, making a bit of a mess. (Also, rodent urine and droppings, once dry can put bacteria humans can catch into the air, so best avoided.) When it came time to empty the container, a quick call to an equally pleasant Big Steel Box representative meant it was picked up when we wanted it gone. Since you pay for delivery and pick-up when you first order it, there were absolutely no added costs. An ethical company that does what it says it will. Highly recommend for moving, short term or long term storage. To me, if you don't need fast, regular access to your goods, having them store your container is a great alternative to a storage facility. Would definitely use them again.

Container was delivered without me present & placed facing the wrong direction. I have spent three weeks trying to get this moved (during which I can't use the container) as I can't properly access the doors to load directly to/from a vehicle. Big Steel Box has refused to be accountable & will only turn the container 90degrees if I pay them another $120 delivery fee to fix their mistake. I WOULD NEVER recommend Big Steel Box.

We are the Poster People for, "How Not To Move"! The moving men were extremely patient with us as we scrambled to get the rest of the kitchen packed on Day 1 while they dealt with our furniture and the goods in the other rooms of our 2 story, 3200 sq. ft. house. All the movers were hardworking, professional and pleasant to work with. We had half our goods delivered to Maple Ridge and put the other half in storage at OnTime. We had half of the stored goods delivered in 8 months time, then the rest in another year. Considering that we originally planned to have them in storage for only 3 - 6 months, Ronald was very accommodating to keep them longer and stayed in communication with us the entire time. The storage fees were reasonable and did not change over the 18 months. Positives: Excellent communication from the company. Prompt and reliable (definitely On Time and sometimes early!). Reasonable, flexible and accommodating. Excellent workers. Negatives: 3 pieces of wooden furniture had some damage. Company has a limited amount of compensation for damage - review the policy and requirements (report within 2 days of delivery). Some micro-management. Stars: 4.5 (but I don't know how to indicate this!). There are other 5 star Yelp reviews for this company but they are hidden and aren't included in the overall rating and I don't know why. We would definitely recommend this moving company based on our experiences with them.
