Nice brunch spot in Broad Ripple! Loved trying new dishes like baklava French toast! If there's something unique in the menu, I'm definitely trying! And I live a good brunch because I can always pair fries and a mimosa or two with whatever else I'm eating! These fries came with delicious dipping sauces! I'd love to bring my mom and sample some more!

Lunch and a view? Sign me up!! Mediterranean is one of my most favorite cuisines and Canal Bistro is always on point. First and foremost, they have some of the most friendly and welcoming staff, it really feels like I was invited over for a family dinner. I love when it's patio season as that is (in my opinion) the best seat in the house! Alongside the canal on a fully covered patio? Yes please! This particular day we started with their feta garlic fries, which you can also order spicy. The best appetizer to share amongst the table. For my main I got the chicken shawarma and it was everything it needs to be. Super flavorful, and the chicken was super tender and juicy. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Ps-- the parking lot is small, but definitely a plus especially in broad ripple.

The bestie and I were in Broad Ripple around lunchtime and decided to diverge from our usual taco spot and get Mediterranean food instead yesterday. This cute little bistro was the perfect refuge from the heat and we were greeted and seated right away by our server, Skyy. She checked in on us often and made sure that we were taken care of during our visit. She even recognized my friend from a previous visit and sat us the same table she'd sat at before! I wasn't feeling too adventurous, so I ordered the Greek Salad, but added their marinated and grilled salmon on top of it. I also had a mocktail, the Mango Lime Spritzer, which was delightfully refreshing. I loved the balsamic dressing on the salad, but wasn't a huge fan of the "rough chop" done on the veggie toppings. I like more of a dice on my tomatoes and cucumbers, but these were like half-moon slices. Not a huge deal, just a matter of preference; but for that reason, I didn't eat much of the salad. I demolished the salmon, which was seasoned well and grilled perfectly, and ate all of the feta and olives from the salad! My friend ordered the lamb chops...and they were huge! She also said that they were "so good" and "very tender". I think that hits all of the key points when it comes to lamb chops, right?! Also, the presentation of her plate, with a pyramid of rice, made it feel extremely special. Her meal also came with a salad of her choosing and she opted for the Fattoush. I tried a few of the Lebanese pickles that came on the salad, and they were very delicate in flavor. It was a nice divergence from what you expect a pickle to taste like. For her cocktail, she ordered a smoky margarita but immediately informed me that it wasn't that smoky (my girl loves a smoky beverage). My absolute favorite part of the meal had to be the warm pita bread served with oil flooded with za'atar. I hate it when a restaurant is stingy with the seasonings in the oil, but that was not an issue here. That was my first time eating za'atar and I am an instant fan! I'd come back just for that, but I also look forward to returning to try the stuffed grape leaves (dolmades), kafta, fish tacos and kababs.

My go to brunch spot in Broad Ripple. Everyone is always so friendly. I love the mocktail selection. They offer $6 mimosas as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating along with a parking lot next to the building. Make sure to save room for dessert. They have a cute ice cream shop next door.

This place is delicious! Our server was sweet and had great recommendations. We loved everything we had. Our eyes were bigger than our stomach. I didn't realize they had parking, usually walk there but it was a nice surprise. The plates are decent size and if you're hungry and order an appetizer and a side salad, you won't have room to eat your entree. Which to me is a plus. I love left overs! The gyro sandwich is not what I imagined, no pita bread. It was more like a wrap but the flavor was great! I'd order it again! Sat outside, lovely weather and the space is great. Plenty of outdoor seating.

Love Canal Bistro, definitely in my top ten. I love the decor, its low key, but still beautiful. The food is exquisite. I have really enjoyed the sizzling olives as an appetizer and shared the mazza plate. Both are delicious and generous enough to share. You can't go wrong with Greek salad or tabouli, but my favorite is the fattoush salad. I have had many of their sandwiches and entrees, all great? The entree I love best is the shawarma plate. The waitstaff is great, always seem to know when you need a refill or anything, but not hovering.

Whether you are looking for decadent dessert and appetizers or a refreshing Mediterranean salad, this is your spot! Falafel or fattoush are two of my favorite salad types and both are great here! We also tried the garlic feta fries which are saucy and salty and perfect and the baklava sundae. Both portions were huge and great for sharing. The patio is large with some tables overlooking the Broad Ripple canal: a perfect spot for a summer lunch or a romantic date.

For other first-time…read morevisitors, I recommend letting the coffee sit for about 30 seconds before taking a sip so the fine grounds can settle to the bottom. Also, don't stir it after it's served, as that will bring the grounds back up into the coffee. Be sure to leave the last sip or two in the cup, since that's where the grounds collect. The coffee itself was excellent, but I would recommend that servers explain these details to first-time customers or at least ask whether they've had Turkish coffee before. A little guidance would make the experience even better for newcomers. We also ordered the hummus as an appetizer, and it was fantastic. The naan was served warm, and the hummus tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. It was the perfect way to start the meal. We also ordered The Bosphorus Special, a mixed grill platter featuring doner, kofte, chicken kebab, beef kebab, Adana kebab, and chicken Adana kebab, served with vegetables and white rice. Everything was absolutely delicious. The meats were cooked perfectly, tender, and packed with flavor. I'm so glad my significant other and I decided to share this entrée because the portion was very generous, and we still had plenty of leftovers to take home. While the service could have been a bit more attentive, it did not negatively impact our overall experience. After our food was served, our waitress did not check back to see how everything was or whether we needed anything additional. We also ended up with quite a few leftovers and requested to-go containers. Initially, only one small container was brought to the table, which required two additional follow-ups before we received enough containers for the remaining food. One suggestion I would offer is that, for tables ordering larger meals, it may be helpful for servers to proactively offer to box up leftovers as dishes are cleared. For just two people, our table became overcrowded rather quickly, especially with the generous portions. Since our waitress did not return after the food was served, it made managing the table and leftovers a little challenging. That said, we had a wonderful first experience overall. The food was outstanding, the portions were generous, and we look forward to coming back again in the future.

Requesting something other than pizza and burgers is a big deal! I ordered the beef shawarma and the chicken shawarma, just so we could try both. Both looked like a burrito, which is familiar to my kids, so they went with it. We liked the beef, but the chicken shawarma was mind-blowing, and we will definitely be ordering this again. You can get the shawarma by itself or as a meal, which means it comes with fries. I also got the gyro, which comes with sliced beef and lamb, yellow rice, hummus, salad, tzatziki and pita. Because we got our food to go, the pita came separate from everything else, and I had to assemble my gyro myself like a little taco. It was delicious, but so much food! Honestly, the gyro plate can feed two people easily. Because I can't pass up a baba ganoush, I ordered a small one. They have some excellent baba ganoush at Sahara! I think this might even be my baba ganoush go-to now. Ordering online is very easy, and my food was ready to be picked up even before it was supposed to be. The only thing is that Sahara is located on the Broad Ripple strip, so parking can be iffy. I didn't find any parking in front of the restaurant, so I had to circle the block a bit before I found a spot.

I called ahead and ordered: 2 kebab sandwiches 2 falafel sandwiches 2 kibbeh orders baba ghanoush fattoush salad The employee on the phone told me the order would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived, I was told it would actually be another 17 minutes. I waited in my car, came back after that time passed, and then was told "maybe 13 more minutes." The biggest issue was not just the wait -- it was the lack of honesty and time management. If the restaurant had simply said from the beginning that they were behind and needed closer to an hour, I would have understood. What frustrates customers is being repeatedly given inaccurate wait times. People plan their schedules, families, and evenings around the times restaurants provide. After waiting inside, sitting directly in front of the counter, I watched the cook START preparing parts of my order almost an hour after I originally placed it. Items like the baba ghanoush, salad, and kibbeh -- foods that are usually already prepared -- were only assembled then. Meanwhile, customers who arrived after me and ordered at the restaurant were served before my takeout order was completed. Unfortunately, the food quality also suffered from the long delay: The sandwiches were soggy The salad had water pooled at the bottom and no dressing The kibbeh was soaked in grease For the amount paid, I expected much better service, communication, and food quality. A simple apology and realistic timing would have made a huge difference.

Located in a cute blue house, this is conveniently located near Lucas Oil Stadium and there was a huge concert going on the night we were there, but we were still allowed to park in their parking area. Inside has nice lighting and is pretty plain but has a homey feel. The menu contains many items we're familiar with having visited Greece twice. So I'm going to be a little critical here with my review of the food. I ordered the Greek Spaghetti, which I have had in Greece. Unfortunately this was not at all what I was expecting or anything like Greek spaghetti. What I was served was basically Prego spaghetti sauce with pieces of gyro in it. Traditional Greek spaghetti (or Makaronia me Kima) is a wonderful sauce that's seasoned with all kinds of memorable spices. It's definitely not pieces of gyro meat thrown in a sauce. So while this was fine, it was not what I truly wanted or thought I was getting so I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the chicken souvlaki and that was better but still not quite like what I remember. The meat was almost smoked and lacked some of the Greek spices that gives it a distinct taste. And the tzatziki...well, let's just say it tastes like whipped feta and was lacking in flavor too. I did enjoy the pita bread. Our service was underwhelming as well. It took a while for anyone to notice we were there and needed to be seated and the server basically did the bare minimum, never even asking if we wanted our water refilled. Overall, it was fine. If I had never been to Greece, I may have a different opinion but this isn't someplace I really want to go back to.
