Located off 86th Street, Reef Of Egypt offers a culinary journey through Middle Eastern flavors. During our visit, we indulged in the Lamb Haneeth and the Fattoush Salad. While the rice was lukewarm, the lamb was great with its tenderness and rich taste. However, the Fattoush Salad left us wanting more, as it featured too few greens and an overwhelming amount of raw onions, impacting the overall balance. While we were there, they had music videos playing in the background at full volume, which could be heard around the store. The service there was also hit and miss with one of the cooks there pretty much ignoring everyone, and the other one very helpful and attentive. I think I'll wait before I go back again and stick to 3 In 1 if I'm ever in the area.

This is now Batman Grill and the menu describes the food as Syrian. They deserve support from the neighborhood.

This restaurant literally doesn't exist anymore. Grubhub took my order, I went to pick it up, and it was permanently closed.

But I needed something different, because the Greek food scene here just hasn't hit the same for me after growing up around Chicago and living on both the East and West Coast. This place was exactly the kind of spot I was hoping to find. First off, the owner is an older gentleman and he's awesome. I ordered, stood at the register waiting to pay, and when he came back he asked if I needed anything else. I told him, "I need to pay," and he just goes, "No, you pay after you eat. Don't worry about it." You don't find many places like that anymore. The gyro itself was packed to the absolute brim. Honestly, it could easily be two meals. The meat had great flavor, the pita was fresh and flaky, and everything worked perfectly with the tzatziki, feta, lettuce, and tomato. The place itself is simple when you walk in. Nothing flashy, nothing overdone. But between the owner, the regulars, and the overall feel of it, it almost feels like you're sitting in someone's home you grew up in. Comfortable, welcoming, and real. Definitely a must-try. The gyro gets a solid 8.1/10 from me.

Requesting something other than pizza and burgers is a big deal! I ordered the beef shawarma and the chicken shawarma, just so we could try both. Both looked like a burrito, which is familiar to my kids, so they went with it. We liked the beef, but the chicken shawarma was mind-blowing, and we will definitely be ordering this again. You can get the shawarma by itself or as a meal, which means it comes with fries. I also got the gyro, which comes with sliced beef and lamb, yellow rice, hummus, salad, tzatziki and pita. Because we got our food to go, the pita came separate from everything else, and I had to assemble my gyro myself like a little taco. It was delicious, but so much food! Honestly, the gyro plate can feed two people easily. Because I can't pass up a baba ganoush, I ordered a small one. They have some excellent baba ganoush at Sahara! I think this might even be my baba ganoush go-to now. Ordering online is very easy, and my food was ready to be picked up even before it was supposed to be. The only thing is that Sahara is located on the Broad Ripple strip, so parking can be iffy. I didn't find any parking in front of the restaurant, so I had to circle the block a bit before I found a spot.

I skipped the garlic sauce after learning it contains mayo. Traditionally, it doesn't, so I'm glad I asked before ordering. The couscous was perfectly prepared, and the chopped salad was incredibly light and fresh. I could have eaten an entire bowl of it. The cilantro really makes the flavors pop. Bonus points for having Seagram's Ginger Ale in the fountain! IYKYK I was excited to see it, although the syrup had run out when I first tried it, leaving me with soda water. Fortunately, the issue was fixed quickly. My tip: ask for your chicken to be cooked fresh. The pre-prepared chicken I sampled was a bit hard and chewy, so I'm very glad I asked to taste it first. All the steak is prepared fresh, so no special request needed. It was surprisingly quiet inside, making it a great spot to work remotely, catch up with a friend, or simply enjoy a peaceful meal without distractions. I'll definitely be back very soon!

The nostalgia before they started to suck, where you could get a burrito the size of your head that could easily feed a family of 4 but YOU decided to take it on solo? Naf Naf has managed to capture that feeling, coupled with fresh ingredients made and seasoned well, made for a great surprise lunch out. Think chipotle line, but middle eastern cuisine instead. Everything was very fresh, and they had a great variety to choose from (do you want a bowl, stuffed pita, salad, or platter?) As a disciple of the Church of Latter Day Soup, having any Savory Cereal options on the menu is a big win for me, and being able to get it as a side at no additional charge is like magic these days. I got the lentil soup with my wrap and it was delicious, light, well flavored, and a good size. They had a stuffed wrap lunch deal with fries (or soup) and a drink for $10, and provided a massive pita for the price. I got the chicken shawarma with all the veggies they had and was not a bit disappointed. Ambience was also really nice! Very "cafe" feeling, but clean inside and out.

I called ahead and ordered: 2 kebab sandwiches 2 falafel sandwiches 2 kibbeh orders baba ghanoush fattoush salad The employee on the phone told me the order would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived, I was told it would actually be another 17 minutes. I waited in my car, came back after that time passed, and then was told "maybe 13 more minutes." The biggest issue was not just the wait -- it was the lack of honesty and time management. If the restaurant had simply said from the beginning that they were behind and needed closer to an hour, I would have understood. What frustrates customers is being repeatedly given inaccurate wait times. People plan their schedules, families, and evenings around the times restaurants provide. After waiting inside, sitting directly in front of the counter, I watched the cook START preparing parts of my order almost an hour after I originally placed it. Items like the baba ghanoush, salad, and kibbeh -- foods that are usually already prepared -- were only assembled then. Meanwhile, customers who arrived after me and ordered at the restaurant were served before my takeout order was completed. Unfortunately, the food quality also suffered from the long delay: The sandwiches were soggy The salad had water pooled at the bottom and no dressing The kibbeh was soaked in grease For the amount paid, I expected much better service, communication, and food quality. A simple apology and realistic timing would have made a huge difference.
