The concept of a store that sells only beer and a few other things is a new one to me. It was interesting to find that the alcohol laws are so different here in New York. But I love a (practically) beer only store! Because you know what isn't allowed in CA?? Filling growlers anywhere except a brewery tap room! And even some tap room locations don't have the right permits to fill your growlers. We love the rotating beers. That's how I discovered Sour Monkey by Victory...and fell in love. As far as customer service and prices, we've never had an issue. They did accidentally charge my husband for a six pack of Coke when it was supposed to be a single can. I noticed later on the receipt, so he brought it up to the cashier the next time he was in and was refunded no problem.

I went to Global Wine & Spirits today on my 21st birthday, excited to finally make a legal…read morepurchase, only to be wrongfully denied because my ID is vertical. The cashier insisted it was "New York State law" that they couldn't accept a vertical ID, which is completely false. NY State law does not require an ID to be horizontal as long as it proves you're 21. When I politely inquired another worker about it, and he was nasty and rude, offering no real explanation and acting like I was causing a problem just for asking a valid question. If this store wants to make up their own rules, at least train your employees to be polite about it. I ended up going to Caputi Liquors, where they properly followed the law and accepted my ID because vertical IDs are valid in New York State. I won't be coming back to Global Wine & Spirits.
