We only got to stay at this KOA one night but we enjoyed our stay. The campground was clean, the site was level, the staff was friendly (especially the gentleman who showed us to our site. Roger? I think), we had a strong T-Mobile signal and it was nice and quiet. I do think this campground has the potential to be loud. There are a lot of sites and many activities for children (mini golf, arcade, pool, etc) but we stayed early in the season (end of April) so there weren't a lot of other guests. The patio sites aren't quite as fancy as some of the other KOA's that we've been to but it's still a nice upgrade if you can afford it. If we're back in the area we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

I left this place pretty stressed out. Lured in with economical price for a cabin stay but be aware once there you are charged for each amenity they advertise on their website (sans listing them along with pricing - call ahead for prices recommended). Example, they charged my son $8 for a scoop of ice cream in a small dixi cup! If you break a rule, of which there are many, beware the penalties are charged at quite high rates and they just charge your credit card without telling you first. I felt like I was being watched by cameras. Bathrooms nice / sites sardine style, typical KOA spacing / free WIFI a bit complicated to access as once you are logged into the quest portal site you have to then locate another button for the free version which we never found, so we just used our data instead / drinking water tasted funky (bring bottled). I had to clean a period stain off one of the mattresses but overall the cabin was clean and smelled nice. Older style A/C quite loud so I did not get much sleep. This is not an EV friendly campground, we found out the hard way with a $25 fine for plugging in our trickle charger, which maybe could have cost them a few dollars in electric - less than the profit they made on the ice cream, ha. We chose a higher priced cabin with an outdoor outlet for this reason. I spoke to the owner about reducing the excessive penalty fee. He was very demeaning and was only focused on his bottom line. I had the forethought of having him come and inspect the cleanliness of our cabin and sign off on it as I was certain a charge for that would have hit our credit card after we left. Recommend you do this too. $10 per pet fee upfront + additional cleaning fee if required. Glad we only booked one night! I found a free, very nice campsite on State Land the following night and was able to relax, recharge, drink fresh water from a well, enjoy nature, and balance out the experience (and expense) so our short family vacation was saved! read more

Great place to stay. I go twice a year, which included my honeymoon back in 2016. We always rent a cabin. The prices are fair, they are perfect for the two of us. They may not have as many activities as other KOA's, but the hosts are great people. The little shop has any essentials you forgot. The location is perfect because it is out of the way, but close enough to the local attractions. Very clean facility. Bathrooms are cleaned everyday. The only downfall I have ever seen was the shower pressure. It is lacking, but just a minor inconvenience for what you get out of the rest of your stay. 10/10 read more

We arrived at our cabin to find animal feces dried up on the floor that I had to clean up myself which is disturbing when places are supposed to be following covid cleaning protocols. They have rules but they don't make other campers follow them, so if you're having an awful time because of rude people and have to end up leaving early because the owners won't do anything, you won't get a refund. We stayed in a cabin and other people came to stay in the cabin right next to us despite there being a bunch of empty cabins further away. They were clearly there to party and we were there for family relaxation and fun. We had to listen to their very loud and profane music the entire time, the owners did nothing about this even though they have rules that you music shouldn't be heard off of your campsite. They also were smoking weed the entire time (fine it's legal) but my kids were downwind of the smoke and that is inappropriate and unacceptable in my eyes. When my husband saw them roll another 6 blunts he said that's it we're done and we had to pack up and leave. I had called the owners 3 times to complain and nothing was ever done to help us and after sending an email the owner said sorry and hoped you enjoyed other aspects of your stay rather than offer any type of refund for us not being able to stay. If you're looking for a family environment campground go somewhere else. read more

The camp was very clean. When a camper would leave the employees would go around to each site and clean up the sites. It rained for over a day and i issues with water o the site. Stayed here for four days on our vacation. Awesome camp ground and nice staff. From my understanding there are two owners of this KOA, the first man we met was very nice and helpful. The second man was very rude and disrespectful to my mother and the rest of us, and he was the one we had to deal with 99% of the time we were here. We needed to make several trips to Rochester, NY for medical reasons and needed a place to stay. Since we have a 25' motorhome, the accommodation part was a no brainer. The where also became easy when we found this KOA. The grounds are clean and well maintained. Bathrooms are also very nice and clean. On the downside, the bathrooms are not ADA compliant, but not an issue for me, just something to be aware of. The very best part, though,is the people. Everyone there is so, so helpful. I have had to add days, change days, and they are extremely polite,( like not telling me I'm a pain in the neck‍) but seriously, they do everything they can to help. There are a lot of trees, so it really feels like camping. However, tough to get a satellite signal with so many trees. Depends on what you like. There's no cable, which is an upgrade I hope they try, and over the air signal is marginal at best. They do have terrific WiFi. The city of Canandaigua is just a couple of miles away, and absolutely adorable. We loved walking around looking at all the beautiful old buildings. Sonnenberg Gardens is a lovely way to spend a day. Be sure to check out the mansion. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because of the cable. This is a great location and a great place to stay. read more

I've stayed at hundreds campgrounds and KOA's over the past 30 years and this is by far my favorite, it's a gem in the camping world. The facilities and grounds are exceptionally clean and well maintained. The campground is a nice size, everything is within walking distance. They installed a huge new pool this year and it is fantastic! The staff is all friendly, family owned and the workers appear to be campers themselves. I've always had positive interactions and it's impressive how much staff is around to help. They are very upbeat and make you feel good with every interaction. The 10 pm quite hour is enforced and staff patrol around the clock to maintain quite and help with anything you might need. The camp store is well supplied with goodies and camping essentials in case you need something critical ( I seem to every trip!). The pond is really nice and I always see people enjoying the fishing and boats. They have a Cafe with great pancake breakfasts (the blueberry pancakes are fantastic!). They also have pizza, burgers, ect. We especially love the fresh fries and onion rings, we usually grab some to have with whatever we might be grilling at the site. Probably the most family friendly campground we've been to. While my wife and I were playing bingo there was a group of kids and family playing kickball in a field and a bunch of kids jumping on some giant pillow thing, nice to see so many people having fun, even during these trying times. There is a lot to do in the area, horse track and casino less than 5 miles away and a water park nearby. This is a great place to stay while touring the local wineries or going to Watkins Glen (I've stayed at the KOA in Watkins, it is huge and the most expensive one I've stayed at in the Northeast). I wish I had discovered this KOA years ago, it's a perfect escape from home (Syracuse NY) and less than an hour away if my wife is driving :). I recently read that RV sales are up 30% this year, last time that happened was 9/11. Campgrounds booked very quickly and I'm certain that'll happen again. I'd book a year in advance if you can't get in now, I learned the hard way. Enjoy your stay, it's hard not to! read more

The only reason this place is getting 2 stars from me is because it has the POTENTIAL to be an awesome camping experience. I love the campy sounding speaker announcing the activities. There is also an awesome obstacle course. It has a pool (not heated - don't believe the website) that closes at dusk, THEIR definition of dusk. There's a nice pond with paddle boats and a few fun activities for kids on weekends. What really ruins this place is the owner and staff. They are grumpy, unkind micro-managers. Constantly doing odd things to pinch a penny but in the long run make them seem desperate and flailing. For example on the Friday night hayride (owner driving), he'll frequently stop the ride to make a suggestion to a campsite. Their smiles are as plastic as their speech and they are often screwing up reservations. I don't think this review can quite capture the sinking feeling of the guy driving up to my tent and whatever annoyance will spew from his mouth. Should of read previous reviews before booking, same issue outlined in another review. I needed to cancel do to unforeseeable mechanical issues with our camper and they charged me $55 to cancel on a one night Wednesday stay. I was totally willing to pay the $10 standard cancellation fees for KOA's. The person I talked with was condescending and rude. He said I will bring the issue to management. I asked to speak with management and he said he was the manager. Some of the worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my many years of camping. I am giving it two stars due to the fact we never made it to the campground. We had to cancel our reservation. Since we are KOA members I knew of the cancellation policy. I was fine with losing our deposit. Never asked for our money back. After making arrangements that I needed to make, and canceling the reservation the owner/manager called back the KOA we were calling from in Canada. For the next 3-5 minutes I was literally scolded at like I am 12 years old. I have never been to this campground and I will NEVER go to this campground. If he treats me like this before getting my business how is he going to treat me and my family after he has our business! read more

This was my first KOA experience! Wow, tons of fun for the whole family. We especially loved the jump pillow, pool, and trails available for hiking. We also would have loved the zip-line for sure if it had been open :( The site was clean; visitors and staff seemed friendly. I was a little disappointed that KOA charges for people to come in and say hello to you. I would have also loved to have seen a little complimentary hot chocolate or coffee available as you checked out or in. But, other than that and the zip-line not being open, we loved it! read more

If you're planning to stay here in one of the cabins, please call ahead to confirm the bedding situation. We had unfortunately did not call ahead, and trusted that when we made a reservation via the KOA website that our cabin layout would be as pictured. We reserved a 2 room cabin and assumed as in the picture on the website that the first room had 1 double bed and the second room had 2 sets of bunk beds. The second room was accurate, but the first room also had a set of bunk beds instead of the pictured full bed. This was a problem because you need to bring your own bedding and we were only prepared for 1 double bed and 1 single bed. To make matters worse the staff were less than friendly about the situation, we were offered only a partial refund and were told that complaining about the situation will not change anything. The front staff was also complaining about other guests requesting shade, it was 95+ degrees outside. I would only recommend staying here if you have an RV or plan to tent camp and avoid dealing with the front desk staff as much as possible. The facility itself seemed OK, but cramped compared to other KOA's we've stayed at. read more

I'm so bummed we only were "passing thru". We were only there one night... Both my boy's said "this is the best KOA ever there is so much to do". My youngest (8 year old) said his favorite parts were "the Rock climbing wall, jump pillow and pool" and my oldest (10 year old) said his favorite parts were "putt-putt and the pond". The place had VERY restrooms... Even at 11pm.... When the last time the sign said they were cleaned was 10am... The bathrooms were clean. That's impressive! Staff were very welcoming and friendly.... This KOA was pretty nice. It had an inflatable bouncy pillow for anyone (even adults) to jump on, a pool, mini golf, a pond for fishing with bumperboats (for rent at a ridiculous price--I didn't see anyone using them the whole week we were there), paddle boats, a really cool fitness obstacle course, a tree house with a zipline (weekends only), hiking/biking trails and the usual campground stuff. The RV sites were thin and small but were grassy. The tent sites were wooded and large. We easily could have fit two more large tents on our site in addition to our tent and screenhouse. Ive heard from other campers and read other reviews that say the owners are not pleasant people. Ive also read they had a bed bug problem in their kabins last year. I have experienced none of that so I can speak to that. What was annoying was the person across the road who was living there at the campground. They were up till 2am most nights and made a lot of noise...Who am I supposed to call at 2am to come and tell these people to quiet down? My site was beautiful and abutted the hiking/biking trails. I didn't mind that families with small children would wake us up walking by at 6am...They did do their best to keep quiet and were gone down the trail before I knew it. The site was huge, the area we were staying within the campground was woodsy, there really wasn't much bug activity for us. However, the family members with RVs had a different experience with bugs. SOme were calling them stink bugs, some decided they were not stink bugs, but either way these flat bugs with red on their wings were constantly all over their RVs, their cars, and found their way INSIDE the RVs and cars! They were killing them left and right the whole time we were there. And this is the more open part of the campground--No where near woods. We booked a two room cabin (2K2) for the fourth of July weekend for 4 adults, 1 child and a dog. Our cabin was located directly on the pond and was super cozy. We had a double bed, kitchen table and mini fridge in the first room and two sets of bunk beds and a microwave in the second room. There was a window AC unit in each of the two rooms along with a ceiling fan in each. There is a covered porch with a wooden swing. We brought a 10x10 canopy to set up in front of the cabin for shade and to protect from some rain. There were family friendly activities going on all weekend like a petting zoo, kids crafts, make your own sundaes, DJ karaoke, etc. The price was very reasonable for our accommodations. The campground is not overly large so everything is within comfortable walking distance. The bathroom facilities were very clean and well maintained. The showers included a 3x3 (ish) changing room in the same "stall" as the shower. We thoroughly enjoyed our pancake breakfasts in the Kafe and absolutely loved Elliott! He was so pleasant and friendly. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. We especially loved working with Barb in the office/store. We had pleasant exchanges with Victor and he was so happy and friendly each time. We took out the paddle boats and had fun on those. Again the cost was not outrageous for a little bit of fun. We did rent the bikes - word to the wise they are harder than they look. There are no gears and they are pretty heavy. The pool is on the small size (3 ft - 8 ft deep) but very clean and well maintained. There is no lifeguard on duty and an adult must be with children at all times. The kids loved the Jump Pillow - it was one of the main attractions. There is a 10 pm quiet time but that just means not to be rowdy. Everyone still sat out by their campfires talking. There is free WiFi and you just have to reconnect every 24 hrs. Its not terribly fast but that's cool because you are camping. We had a great vacation and made some new friends. The campground is more of a parking lot. We had a pull through site. The back of our trailer was on the edge of the road, the front of our truck was on the edge of the other road, with less than an inch between the ball a n hitch. The grass area between trailers was maybe 15' wide. Fire rings where by the road. We have friends that live in the area, I asked if they would for go the $10.00 charge for our friends to come to the trailer to play cards. Mind you it is Monday September 10th. Raining and cold. Pool was closed, not that we would use it. All we wanted to do was sit in the trailer and play cards. Nope no way had to have their extra $10.00. We had planned to stay another night, but because they wouldn't for go the $10.00 the lost out on $53.00. read more

The KOA in Canandaigua, NY is one of the best campgrounds we've visited in the area in years. Let me begin by saying I have a young family of 5 and am not into late night, beer drinking loud crowds like I was in my teens & twenties. If you are interested in a clean, quiet, family based environment KOA's and especially this KOA is for you! This is a popular KOA in that it's nestled close to Canandaigua and there are numerous activities nearby in the event it rains or if you need something the camp may not have. IE Wineries, restaurants, nice size town, Wegmans store, etc. I suggest making advance reservations well in advance. With over 100 sites, there is a good mix of shade and sun locations. Like most parks there are choice spots and a few that are available for late comers. Although, we don't think there is a bad location in this camp. We've been to some camps where there are no trees, which inadequate bathroom facilities and lacking activities. That's NOT the case with this KOA. Simple things some may take for granted we appreciated. IE Level camp spots, excellent condition water, electrical & sewer connections, mature trees for shade, minimal spots that could potentially flood out, lighting on each site, etc. It is a well-manicured park and offers a nice atmosphere. There are numerous activities including miniature golf, swimming pool, hiking trails, playgrounds, zip line, pedal cars & bikes to rent, a pond, fishing, huge bounce pillow (our kids love!), pedal boats, a pavilion, plenty of new picnic tables in the pavilion, an arcade, movie nights for kids and hay rides. The camp has all the essentials like power, water, sewer hookups. The owner definitely takes pride in ownership as everything is well maintained. The bathrooms were clean and are painted as needed. Also, during our stay, we observed the staff cleaning the bathrooms daily. This KOA has a couple stores as well for added convenience. It's also apparent that the owner is investing in the KOA as evidenced by new items showing this year that we did not see during the previous years. IE New landscaping, the building of a new Volleyball court. Even some of the trails had fresh gravel on them, which help prevents them from becoming too muddy to walk, which is what we've seen happen to other camps trails. We like to reserve the camp spots adjacent to the pavilion that offer nice gravel patios, private lighting, a new set of Adirondack chairs and stoned surrounded fire pit. The staff is friendly and we see the owner every time we visit. He's very engaged in terms of working on the business. We do not know him personally but he always says hi as he's out helping campers, checking on his camp ground, inflating the bounce pillow, checking on the pool, etc. The nice thing about the staff is they are not over the top friendly nor are they non-existent. They are their when you need them, helpful and nice. Like many camp grounds this one is definitely pet friendly and many of the campers have pets. They offer a dog pen and station that includes dog bags for free for any accidents. In town (15 minutes away) there are pet stores & veterinarians as well. You will need to bring your own grill, which most campers do anyway. Some have them built into their campers and some bring small portable grills. Although connecting is easy (no password needed) I would have appreciated a bit more internet speed. Not that I spent much time in our camper but when it rains it's nice to have the speed to browse effectively and/or when many users are online at the same time. Internet speeds were slow, with 300k download & 500k upload. Enhancing the speed of the internet is one area the camp needs to improve. MY iPhone worked well though as needed for email & internet access. Given the fun our family has at this KOA and the overall experience, we will continue to visit the Canandaigua, NY KOA for many years to come!! read more

I wouldn't even give them one star! Tried to reschedule because of a death in our family, but the Manager wouldn't even consider it. I am aware that their policies are clearly explained on the site, which he reminded me of multiple times during our conversation, but he wouldn't even give me the consideration of rescheduling at a different time without a refund. A death is not something that we planned on. He sounded very bitter, nasty and mean. The camp was not full, so he would not have lost any money by extending this good will gesture. I would never recommend doing business with this person. He's heartless, and has no conscious. read more

We made reservations for 3 days (The minimum) back in December, even though we only needed Sunday for a local event. We called ahead on Friday and told them we wouldn't be arriving until Sunday and to please hold our spot. We were told it was no problem and they would put a note in the computer. We were still paying for all 3 days. When we arrived on Sunday with the 28' Travel Trailer and $700 in concert tickets to CMAC, Victor informed us that they had given our spot away, and we should have called. When I told him that I did call and was told a note would be made in the computer he simply stated "My note says Saturday." and basically told us sorry nothing he can do, they were booked. He claimed that we said we would arrive Saturday and thats what the note in his system said. Why wouldn't they have contact us to confirm before giving our spot away? KOA also refused to give us a refund or even attempt to help us out. Victor acted like he wanted nothing to do with us and had absolutely no sympathy for the situation or the mistake his staff had made on the note in the system. He couldn't say anything except "You should have called." Well, we did call and still this KOA gave our spot away that we had reserved MONTHS in advance. Needless to say, we were unsuccessful at finding a campground with an open site on 4th of July weekend. Ended up driving all the way home to park camper and drive all the way back to the concert. Victor, the owner of Canandaigua campground was completely rude, unsympathetic to the situation and accused us (THE CUSTOMER) of lying. Avoid this place. They can take reservations (and your $), they just don't HOLD the reservation. read more

I stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed how clean the grounds were kept and all the amenities they had to offer. I will probably not return due to the staff, not one of the staff members I encountered was pleasant they all were incredibly rude and acted like the campers were interrupting their day. It felt like I was going through TSA every time I entered the park, they would shine a flashlight right in your eyes looking for your tag hanging on your rear view mirror when you arrived after dark. When I asked for directions too an attraction they very rudely questioned if I had GPS In my car or on my phone for driving directions. If you want a well kept campground with activities available on site(most are pay for play) then it was good and you should stay. If you want a friendly staff to work with then look for another camp ground. read more

Koa's have a breed specific ban on certain dog breeds, including dogs that they think may resemble mixes of these breeds. Not only is this descrimination but Shelter workers can't even accurately identify all breeds of dogs and they work with dogs. My black tri aussie with no tail could be identified as a rottie mix if the wrong misinformed person was working that day. I will not stay at any of them. read more

The campground was well kept, the 2 women in the office were exceptional, helpful, and very inviting and friendly, however the owner Victor and his wife were exactly the opposite. Victor's wife was immensly rude and tried to not give us our refund back when we were rebooking for another weekend. Her lack of patience and overall rudeness were completely unneccesary. We tried to stay again this weekend, everything was perfect until (once again) it was time to check out this morning. Yesterday we had to call the police because my fiances ring went missing when we left the campground for a few hours. We came back to the ring gone. We thoroughly looked in our car, in the cabin, and in order to get a new ring through the insurance we had to file a police report. This morning did we hear it from Victor whom wasted no time trying to insult our intelligence with "You only call the police if it is stolen, not lost" and "No one here would steal anything" Now I know I didnt have any background check, personality tests, etc when we came to check in this past friday so he had no basis on telling us the kind of people who occupy this campground. And then he furthered his rudeness when my fiance forgot her change on the counter when leaving the office. His snyde remark of "that is how you lost your ring." Really? Completely unneccesary especially when my fiance is distraught because shes missing the ring she just got a few weeks ago. Victor and his wife are very rude, impolite, and solely because of them we will not be booking with the KOA in Canandaguia/Farmington! read more
