Stopped on our way through TN after seeing the billboard. It's the exit before Bucees heading west. We were hoping it wasn't too long of a wait at 6pm since we wanted to get back on the road quickly. The parking lot was full so it was a little worrisome. However, we were seated quickly. The place has the usual Mexican vibe. Nothing outrageous but decor and all said this was a Mexican restaurant. The menu was also nothing out of the ordinary. There was a huge loud party next to us so that also had me worried and it took a bit for someone to come take our order. However once we ordered and got our food (thankfully before the big party) it was worth the wait. Texas rice was great. It's rice topped with cheese meat and veggies (like ACP but better). We just spent 4 days in Gatlinburg and spent lots of money at restaurants. Ended up here on way back through to Nashville; ended up here because nothing was open on a Sunday. The service was really good, but the food was somewhere between mediocre and good. Their chips weren't impressive and it seemed like the salsa was jarred. I had a taco salad and asked for jalapeños expecting them to be jarred or fresh, but they were cut into strips and fried, which ruined the flavor. The cheese sauce was really good, though. The others had a chimichanga, enchiladas, and steak fajitas. Food was amazing; huge portions, and absolutely delicious! I had the 'Arroz Con Pollo' and it was phenomenal. My husband had steak tacos; he enjoyed them too. First it was a very busy Friday night. The staff was on it though they had a full house. The decor was the decor. Food arrive to the table in a timely manner and was hot, That's a plus. The chorizo and cheese was good and a large serving,however chorizo overcooked and cheese was watery. Margherita on the rocks was flavorless. On the good side the asada Tacos were AAA+. First off the outside doesn't reflect the inside. The outside is a bit off putting but the inside is spacious and entertainingly colorful with old school neon, LEDs and back lit murals. The staff is very energetic and accommodating. The prices are reasonable too. The menu covers anything and everything that you would expect. The family enjoyed their experience and I was comfortable with the inside atmosphere being safe and relaxing while still being fun. The parking lot is another issue all together. It's poorly lit, the painted lines and lanes are mostly non-existent with tight parking and the locals zooming around showing off their pickups street prowess. I may return at some point as I was vacationing nearby. The Mexican restaurant just across the street is also a nice choice but I forget the name at the moment. Three stars for it and much safer parking lot. Try it, you may love it. read more

This review only reflects the food. The waitstaff are extremely friendly and accommodating to orders. We were able to substitute fries for my sons rice and beans. My husband ordered a trio of food. I ordered a quesadilla with spinach and mushrooms. My order was on the verge of unable to eat. It was extremely salty. I like salt and often like foods which are salty. This was way too much Which was odd since the complimentary chips had zero salt. In my experience it's usually salty chips and food is not salty. My husband said his food was incredibly salty too. Piled on top was ground beef, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and s little cheese. The toppings were piled high. I am used to being able to pick up a nacho chip and kind of scoop the topping. These chips were glumped together on the bottom , and the flavor of the toppings was very bland. Also got a quesadilla with steak. Loser too. The tortilla was soggy. Blah! Possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. I do live in Los Angeles, so there is a certain standard I have, but dang! that was awful. My niece got a bean burrito that she said was decent. I asked for refried beans and cheese and it came out as a mess of grey colored I-don't-know-what. I used the stale chips to dip up the said mess. The salsa was a joke and for sure came from a can. I called in an order at Cancun Crossville, but when I tried to confirm what I wanted, they kept giving me the wrong order. I was overcharged for an entire meal just because I wanted a cheese dip, not a meal that included one. If you like huge, decent Mexican food, this place is perfect for you. It was very busy but the wait wasn't bad. We sat in a fairly clean booth in the back. Our waitress was excellent. She was fast, kind and helpful! We ordered Texas Rice, a huge special and Fajita's. The Texas rice was HUGE, spiced well, full of flavor and hot. I loved it and would recommend it. The special platter was HUGER, I think it was one of anything ever made that is Mexican. My friend told me it was all good. My wife had Fajita's, again huge. It was hot, but overcooked. As someone who both travels for a living, and enjoys Mexican food, I've dined at a LOT of Mexican restaurants. The most redeeming quality of Cancun is probably the staff- they are polite, friendly, attentive, and incredibly kind. The food is nothing to write home about. It's your average Mexican restaurant fare, but lacking in the seasoning department. The margaritas do the job, in that I can at least taste the alcohol, but they're not much better than a bottle of Jose Cuervo margarita mix that I can get from the grocery store. For the area, Cancun is a perfectly fine Mexican restaurant. But I certainly wouldn't suggest anyone go out of their way to come here, except for maybe the staff. (Thanks, guys and gals!) read more

We had a long day traveling today and after checking in to our hotel we went next door to the Cancun Mexican restaurant. What a gem of a Mexican restaurant in rural Tennessee. Had dinner there and all our party loved their entrees. Steak and chicken fajita taco salad, fajita beef steak tacos and cheese enchiladas with soft chicken taco. All were delicious and well prepared. Rice and beans perfect. Great friendly service from attentive staff. Will stop here every time we pass thru. Clean and festive interior. The service was excellent and they have a great selection of draft and bottled beers as well as cocktails at very good prices. We felt our meals were quite bland- and that was echoed by my wife who isn't a 'spicy' food fan. I agree with the other reviewers that the ground beef and pork had a dry taste to them- they needed something, just not sure what. Let me first say the portions here are ridiculous! And I mean that in a good way you could definitely share with someone if you're not extremely hungry and I do advise that. When you are seated and greeted they are very traditional and authentic and can speak Spanish which I absolutely love. It is kind of off of exit and in the middle of nowhere but you will not be displeased. Please try not to order too American off the menu as authenticism works best when you go with the native cuisine. It was getting late and we were driving back to Nashville from Gatlinburg stopped to get gas and WALA we see a Taco Bell - right beside it we see this gem. The inside is definitely prettier than the outside so remember don't judge a book by its cover. It was pretty packed considering it was a Sunday evening and their was a monsoon going on. Everything for me was a plus: Service was great our waiter was friendly, had a smile and refilled our drinks without ever being asked. The chips & salsa were delish and I loved that they gave a small carafe of salsa and individual dipping bowls Double Dip anyone :) The food was delicious and the portions were huge. I had steak ala milanesa and would go back to have it again and try other items. The price!!!! Super right! No ones bill was over $15 and that included a drink and no ones bill was over $20 and that included a decent tip. All in all it was a delicious dinner and surprise. read more

Really good food and plenty of it! Just on the verge of being too salty, but overall excellent. Salsa was very fresh and tasty, not very spicy or overpowering with garlic or cilantro. Fajita Nachos were very well balanced and delicious (enough for at least three people I'd say!). Cancun Special was a large portion and cooked perfectly. Service was very quick, even though the restaurant was VERY busy! Server was friendly and efficient. Value was excellent. What a wonderful stop! This place is right off the interstate, so it makes for a quick, easy stop. The service is quick and pleasant. Despite the many cars in the parking lot, we got sat immediately. Our server, Antonio, was very helpful and gave good recommendations. When we got our food, we were surprised how much food there was. Everyone came in starving, but we still walked out with To-go boxes. The food is very reasonably priced, and was some of the best Mexican food I've ever tasted.
