We drove 900 miles from Massachusetts , and was dying for some BBQ brisket, I found this place serving BBQ on maps. Let's brake it down to dining experience and food quality , taste and price . We walked in for the very first time . We were dining in , they only have one menu and it's taped down to the order counter . So look up the menu online . So your repaired . The guy kid was so unmotivated . When I asked if thy had a sample platter , he pointed to the menu and said NO . And they only have brisket one day a week . I got the ribs with 2 sides and a 1/2 pound of pulled pork. With Cole slaw and Mack and cheese . For the amount of food it was a good deal . The meats were tended but pretty unfavorable until you put the necessary sauces . And everything is sold to go in styrofoam to go. No plates , silverware, but for the money it was just ok. read more

Pulled in 30-40 minutes before closing on a Saturday. My wife and I split a plate of ribs and they were dandy. They were out of one of the sides (note: always a good sign when a BBQ place sells out of items) but the service was prompt and courteous, the place was clean and the food was good. The slaw is the small chop/real mayonaisy type approach. "I 'ain't from around here", but if I was, this would be in my regular rotation. Pricing seemed about right. read more

Excellent, clean food. BBQ Pork wasn't greasy and the BBQ sauce didn't cover up the excellent taste of the pork. I got the slaw and potato salad, as sides, and was very happy with my choice. My wife got a baked potato and put some of my pork from my pork plate on her potato. There was plenty to share. We had stopped across the road, at Buc-ee's for gas and food but there's no place to sit and I didn't want to spend $12 on 1 sandwich. On the way out of the store we spotted The Flying Pig at the traffic light and were rewarded with a BBQ meal that was a positive experience and a very clean seating area with nice atmosphere. read more

To the Owner: This experience was ridiculous. Your sign clearly states "Togo only 15 minutes before closing." We arrived 35 minutes before closing, ordered our food, and were then told we had to take it to go because they "don't seat anyone 30 minutes before closing." When we pointed out what the sign said, the worker called over another employee who appeared to be the manager, and he confirmed the same -- even though it directly went against your own posted policy. We also explained that we had an hour-long drive ahead, but they simply said, "Yeah, sorry." That's $40 you lost and two customers who won't be returning. Very disappointed by the lack of care and consistency. We left and took our business elsewhere. read more

This is small local place located behind the new Buc'ees. I feel sorry for any BBQ place that must compete with Buc'ees, but I recommend you try it. The portion sizes are relatively large. The pulled pork was good, with a good smoke flavor, and tender. The baked beans were very good with a strong molasses flavor, which I love. The mac & chees was average, nothing special. I've purchased their pulled pork and bsled beans for years. Their beans, in my opinion was the best around. Had lots of pulled pork in it with just the right amount of sauce. In quit buying their pulled pork because it was bland and chopped up like it went through food processor. Monday I purchased their baked beans, and they were just like Bush's beans with lots of bbq sauce dumped in. NO meat whatsoever. Flying Pig won't see anymore of my business. The best pulled pork that I've found in Crossville is Lantana Lucy's on Hwy 70E. But you better get there early because they sell out. read more

Stopped in for lunch today. I had the pulled chicken giant baked potato. It was delicious!!! Chicken was perfect, lot of cheese. The BBQ sauce was outstanding. Also got a pulled pork sandwich. The most expensive dog food ever! I went home and literally gave it to my dog! Only locals give this place more than two stars because there's literally nowhere else to eat in the area! First they serve Pepsi products, which should have been the first red flag. The brisket was fatty and undercooked. The sauce was okay and so was the coleslaw, but the briskest and mac & cheese were less to be desired-absolutely disgusting! Can't say I would recommend. We arrived about 5 p.m. on Saturday. There were only 3 or 4 people there. We ordered and the food was served in take out boxes. I said "We are eating here." She said we serve the food in takeout because we close in about an hour. I gave her a puzzled look, but took the food. Kinda low class policy if you ask me. Their feature is a stuffed baked potato with either pork or chicken, sauce is on the side--go for the hot. Not that much heat but spicy. The meat is well smoked but tender. Established in 2000.

Owning my own BBQ restaurant was a dream of mine since I was in high school and even it didn’t happen until I was 36 I never gave up on my dream. We used to be Big Boy’s Barbeque and changed our name due to life changing events. I’m still proud to offer the same recipes and great service that I started out with 18 years ago. Kelly

This restaurant has been a dream of mine sine the early 80’s and it wasn’t until 2000 that I finally put my dreams to work. I leased a convenience store and started selling bbq under the name Big Boy’s Barbegue and did so for 17 years until a divorce forced me to close. My business/life partner,Lisa decided that we should build it back to its former glory and two years into it we have succeeded. I am blessed beyond compare and love our business.

Still, it's hard to be too critical. The store was clean. The selection was huge. The bathrooms were spotless, as expected. And somehow I walked in for gas and left with enough snacks to survive a minor natural disaster. That's the Buc-ee's experience. Four stars. Because even a smaller Buc-ee's is still better than about 99% of the gas stations you'll find on the road.

The food at The Flying Pig is great! But Kelly and Lisa also do catering and they bring plenty of food, it is delicious and the price is reasonable. They have many, many choices and can do large and small groups. They just did my husbands golf outing and they have catered Neighbors and Newcomers club many, many times. The ribs were overcooked and dry, definitely needed the added sauce for flavor! Beans were great as was the potato salad. Counter service only was fast and friendly.
