Didn't mind our room until I saw two different bugs. One in our restroom coming down a spider web & a cockroach in our bedroom. A little pricey just to have bugs in our room. Washer and dryer is free though which is a plus. read more

Stayed here for one night. Hotel is very clean and staff is super friendly. When I arrived I was they put me in a single room but reserved a double. However, I think it shows up as a double in their system because it looked like the other bed had been moved for some reason. She checked me into another room and the air conditioner did not work but maintenance came right down to fix it. Then realized the ironing board was broken. I went to the laundry room and she brought us another one out. How can I give 4 stars you ask. Because the staff was so friendly and helpful that it overshadowed everything else going on. What a great place to stay. Full size refrigerate, 2- burners to fry some bacon, dishwasher cleans your dishes, pots, pans, toaster, and an ice maker. Everything you need to buy, in your room. Free oatmeal, grits fruit and coffee. A monster gym, a daily newspaper and some great friendly folks run the front desk. Actually everyone is pleasant, parking is easy, and the AC works great. If I'm gonna be in Slidell. This will be the place I'm staying. Thanks for a clean room, great amenities and a friendly staff. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We first stayed here on our way to Orlando, Florida. A week later, returning back from Orlando, we decided to stay again. It made a good impression the first time so we went with the sure thing. The only complaints are that the pillows needed to be softer and housekeeping needs to knock before entering. Someone assumed no one was in when they barged in. read more

A very nice and clean hotel at a great value. I usually stop at hotels to use the restroom on road trips because I know they are clean. No disappointment here. We were only here for a few minutes and I didn't get to stay to see the entire facility, including the rooms, but the part I did see was immaculate. So to be fair, I give 4 stars, because I can't fairly rate the rooms. But the customer service is great as well. There's also a Holiday Inn Express, another hotel (couldn't see the name) and a Shell within a few yards. And a Sam's Club. read more

Omg! Don't stay here. There is no tv service. There are not bedside plugs. There is no ice in the hotel until you go in the room and turn on the ice maker in the fridge. The woman at the front desk, Kaitlin, said it takes 20-30 minutes to make ice. An hour later we are still waiting for ice. After a full day of traveling we are exhausted and this really sucks. She won't give a credit but did offer us 1,000 points. Really?!! I'd never stay at a Candlewood Inn again even if they paid me. The rooms are run down and shabby as well. read more

Great clean place to stay! Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Kitchenette is fully stocked with appliances- full size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove top burners, and a garbage disposal in sink... Lots of cabinet space. Had to exchange dull knives and a couple of worthless can openers, but the staff was very kind about it. Bathroom is large and the showers have great shower heads, and the drains work like they should. It would be nice if the windows would open as it can get a little stale when on an extended stay. But the AC/Heat unit works really well. The saltwater pool was lovely... once they finally got the heater working (took quite some time). Three washing machines (although only two were in working order) and four dryers free for use. Great equipment in the gym! The manager's mother cooks a meal for the guests every Tuesday and Thursday, which is incredibly awesome... free beer is brought in too! There is a little shop to make purchases, but the coffee and fruit is complimentary. The pet policy is awesome too, very reasonable rates to bring the pup! read more

Traveling from California and booked a hotel that was not very clean to the point I started having a headache. I had my kids and dog and everything about the place seemed sketchy. I didn't feel comfortable having my kids there(toddler and newborn) and just thinking to shower there disgusted me. So I called Candlewood and MADELINE answered. That girl was an absolute angel! I asked a few questions and at the end of the phone call we were headed to the hotel. Not only was I impressed over the phone but the girl done sold me on becoming a member of IHG! I have worked with a couple IHG hotels in the military but never signed up for it. She made sure me and my family were taken care of from beginning to end. Her customer service was on point! I will definitely be looking for more IGH hotels as me and my family continue traveling. I truly enjoyed my stay here. Me and my husband now are able to laugh at the horrible decision of the previous hotel. Thank you so much! read more

Stayed here twice since the opening a few months ago. Both times were good experiences with room, staff, and hotel itself during last part of building. Everything was clean but again, brand new. Rooms are nice, kitchenette area perfect, love the fact that they give all the kitchen supplies you may need, even if you have no intention on using them. Gym had top of line equipment and indoor pool was nice. No sauna / hot tub though... I would definately stay here again. Perfect jump from I12 and I10. Mall across the street, and Walmart and a few fast food places line the street. Perfect for family get away or the business travler. read more

This hotel Just opened up, and it is by far the nicest Candlewood I have stayed in. I travel a lot for work, and most times I stay at Candlewood Hotels. The rooms are great, and have a nice sized bathroom, kitchenette, desk, flat screen TV, recliner and a very comfortable bed. At the Candlewood, the offer free use of laundry machines, and have a 24 hour gym that is really nice. This hotel even has a pool. There is also a little mini store here where you can buy food, even refrigerated and frozen food. I highly recommend this hotel chain, and in particular, this location in Slidell. read more

Hotel looked good from the outside (other than the ripped American flag in front of the hotel, that should be replaced). Put the two of us in a room with a queen bed. Room is small and furnishings are similar to what you will find at a Quality Inn, Days Inn or similar mass market, high discount hotel. No central ice makers, only in room fridge ice maker (no ice on arrival or for a hour or two afterward). Room had an overpowering flowery / chemical smell (very, very strong, to the point it burned your nose). No way to open window or bring fresh air in to dilute it. Asked to be moved to another room. Went down to the hotel gym to workout. The air in the gym was hot and stagnant. The thermostat in the gym was locked out using a plastic cover and lock, so I could not turn on the A/C. Proceeded to workout and sweat my clothes and drip sweat on the floor. Went to get a disinfecting wipe to clean up the mess. None were available. No disinfecting wipes were available even after the Covid situation. I wonder how the previous user of the equipment disinfected it before I arrived. Came back to the room and wondered why the room remained hot after I had switched the thermostat from heat to cool. The heater continued to run after the thermostat on the wall was switched to cool. Turned off the wall thermostat and selected cool directly on the heating/cooling unit. It worked. The wall thermostat is not connected to the heating / cooling unit. The TV signal is spotty. All channels lose signal and the TV starts buffering and losing sound. Also, no food for breakfast in the morning. Asked about it and was told "the girl forgot to take out the muffins last night, still frozen". Took frozen muffins back to the room and microwaved. Noticed one employee in the hallway talking to someone else about "how he got so fucking drunk" last night. I read some of the reviews of this hotel over the past few years and none of the issues mentioned have been addressed. I usually search for IHG hotels, and should have booked the Holiday Inn Express across the street. Less money and better overall experience. read more

We only stayed one night but its one of the best hotel we tryed. We came in at 8pm with a big pitbull and had had not problems. Staff was super friendly, room was big and clean. A big desk enough to eat. Big bathtub, super hight quality bed, And quiet hotel. And little bonus, they had great channel on tv like discovery, nat geo etc.. Nous ne sommes resté qu'une nuit et c'est bien dommage car c'est un des meilleurs hotel que nous avons testés, nous sommes arrivés avec un gros chien, ça n'a posé aucun problème. La chambre était grande, une grande table pour manger si besoin, grande salle de bain, tout était très propre. Dont la baignoire, ce qui est rare. La literie de super qualité, on y dort vraiment bien. Et en bonus vous avez les super chaînes du cables genre nat geo, discory etc...je recommande vivement cet hotel. The room I have is 421 the worst room I've ever been in. I have been a priority member since 2008 and have never been treated this way at any holiday inn property in any state since that year. The worst hotel ever.The TV did not work right and all the staff could say is sorry. There was no ice available the staff said you have to turn on the ice maker in the room but it takes hours to get any ice and they have no ice machine In the hotel. They put us in a room next to the laundry and at 9 PM they started to do the laundry for the hotel the washing machine and running water were very loud and once again all the staff could say was sorry sir. The room was $ 325 for the night so I expected some service. It had a kitchen but the dish washer had and out of order sign on it. There was only one plate in the cabinet. There was also a very nasty looking stain on the bathtub. There was also no couch or comfortable chair to sit on. It was not worth anything close to the price they charge. I filled out the survey they sent me and it asked if I wanted the manager to call me I said yes but I never heard a word from them. The whole thing is the manager's fault, it's their job to see everyone does their own job. read more

This hotel and the service were outstanding!! On a recent trip to move my sister from Georgia to Texas, we ran into multiple problems with our Uhaul trailer and were going to be stranded for the night unexpectedly in Slidell. We started calling around and reading some reviews for places to stay and Candlewood Suites was highly rated and allowed our two cats in. From the very first call the staff were unbelievably kind and understanding and even waived our pet fee for the night! When we went to check in, everyone had a smiling face and went out of their way to help us with whatever we needed. The next day, we still had catastrophic problems with our car and trailer and kept having to push back our checkout time more and more, and the desk staff, Alexander and Lillie, were So kind and understanding and allowed us to stay until 5pm, which was a huge help to us!! After all the problems and stress we had dealt with the last 48 hours, our stay here was absolutely wonderful and their help immeasurable!! Honestly, the price was perfect, the hotel was super clean and beautiful, and the staff went above and beyond for two very tired and stressed out women. You can't do better than this place! Thank you so much to Alexander, Lillie, and the rest of the Candlewood staff! We couldn't have gotten through that ordeal without your help!! read more

Stayed here on a HOT summer day just to go swimming. We are locals but wanted a staycation. The check in process was easy and we were treated very well. I'm a member so I got a blue star for my door which was cool. The room was lovely. It had everything you could need. The bed could have been a bit better. Like I said main reason was the pool. We get ready go downstairs, attempt to get into the pool (indoor) and it's FREEZING. It was supposed to be a heated pool. I was so disappointed. My main reason for going and I couldn't even enjoy it. Upon Checkout I told the clerk and he said "it's heated" I said "no, it's not". He said I'll be right back. Came back and said I apologize someone turned the heater off. It did no good to me at this point, but from now on I'll ask ahead if a pool is in working order. read more

We recently drove from AZ- FL and this was by far the best hotel on the road. Chase Fields was the front desk attendant at check in and check out. He was friendly, professional and efficient. We were so comfortable and happy there we stayed an additional night. They have free laundry facilities, indoor pool, gym and kitchenettes in each room. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and even had a DVD player, which was nice the first night when we were exhausted and just wanted to make something to eat in the room and watch a movie. They have a good AAA discount too. read more

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I got the room for $63 by some fluke (regular price 79.99). Everything is new still, and the rooms are quiet and look basically like a small studio apartment, with a full-size refrigerator, marble counter tops, and a comfy bed. I can't believe I almost stayed in a Super 8 for the same price. Front-desk guy was nice, it's just a very comfortable place. On par with a Hampton inn which goes for twice the price. The only con is the free WiFi is spotty, although there is fine (and also free) high-speed ethernet. read more

I'm only here to get some sleep so won't be using the amenities, but it's a nice hotel. Would definitely stay again! Paid $85 on a Friday night (plus tax) this was the military rate. What a nice clean hotel. Room was so nice. No heavy smell of sprays or anything else, just fresh and clean. Door VB handles and tables clean. Frig. was clean. Air conditioner vent clean free of mold and dust. Room dust free and the staff raise the bar! The gentleman that checked me in was a step above and the young lady who helped me Wed. This is THE best hotel we have ever stayed at. Very friendly staff. Pablo is great. The beds and linens are perfect. Very large rooms with full kitchen. Breakfast and dinner are free and very very good. Everything is always clean and immaculate. Very safe place to stay with cameras and door access locks. Free wifi too. We have stayed here over 20 times. Always perfect in every way. There is a flat screen TV in the bedroom and one in the living room. Full size fridge. Pool and spa is nice and clean. Fitness is room is nice and adequate with good equipment. Hotel is located by Sams Walmart Starbucks Olive Garden and fast food places. Rooms are very quite for a good nights sleep. Stay here. Upon check in (7/26 around 9pm) the front desk clerk was flustered due to the hotel running out of clean towels. With my check in she was obnoxiously sarcastic & rude to me. She seemed about to burst into tears so I did not say anything and just tried to be nice to her to help turn her attitude around. I asked her if my room would have towels and she said yes it would. It did not have a single towel. Not even a washcloth or bath mat. I called the front before bed around 11:30pm to ask for something, anything so I could take a shower in the AM. They said they would run something up. Never came. I called the next AM around 7am for a towel. Again they said they would bring one up. Again nothing. I waited 45 minutes before having to use a pillow case to dry off. Ridiculous. I had 2 young children with me so I could not go & just camp out at the front desk waiting for at owl like others. The room was clean & did not smell hence the 2 stars. read more

HORRIBLE is an understatement! The reviews must be very old because I found my room dirty, no shampoo, no towels, and the carpet is stained and gross. If your in the area pass by this hotel and go to the one across called the Homewood Suites. The lobby has a smell and it does not seem appealing. The worst part about it is the "breakfast" they serve fruit and coffee!? Who serves fruit and coffee for breakfast. You can find another hotel that Is the same price or better with more to offer anywhere. The wifi is horrible!!!!!!! read more

My husband and I + an 8lb puppy; checked into the Candlewood Suites 10/6 via a prebooked reservation for 4 days. I was told when I checked in that the 1st night for pets is free (no deposit). When we checked out on the 7th we were charged $20 for the entire pet deposit for days we didn't stay. I understand the deposit; if I had stayed more than the 1 day I wouldn't object, but the fact that we did not stay the entire stay I should not have to pay a deposit for the remaining 3. They received their money from the prebooking so they are not out the charge for the room. We are out the $$ for the room because we prebooked through Verizon Rewards. When I called to object to the charge I was told there would be no refund. Also, pet friendly is an overstatement. I was told at check in if my dog barked, and 2 complaints were received at the desk we would have to board our dog at a local vet or another venue. "They strictly adhere to their pet policies" accept for not allowing dogs to be walked through the hotel on leashes which an occupant did on the same floor as us or picking up after your pet; I nearly stepped in 5 piles of dog feces while taking my dog to potty in the "do walk area," where bags and disposal were handy for picking up after your pet. The room was much smaller than the pictures advertise, minimal parking available. Oh and we were an hour late getting to check in because our room wasn't clean. So all in all not a great SINGLE NIGHT spent in this establishment. read more
