This was a nice hotel to make our home base on our trip to Saguaro National Park. The room was clean and the staff were friendly, which was great, and the hotel is located close to grocery stores, coffee shops, and is very close to the main roads. The bed was hard though and it wasn't the most comfortable sleep, but it was still a nice place to stay overall and we'd likely stay here again in the future. read more

Was told to call a day ahead for early check in as the Hospital made us a reservation. We called at 8am, would pass along to manager. Called again at 1pm, manager is in a meeting. Stayed here for a week while visiting family. We had a suite with kitchen. It was convenient to be able to prepare our own meals if we wanted to although there are restaurants nearby. Clean, well appointed rooms. TVs in both bedroom and sitting room. Sitting room had a couch and recliner. Bedroom had a king bed, dresser, 2 night stands, desk with chair, and closet. The suites are only cleaned once a week so we had to take out our own trash if it was full. Front desk staff will get fresh towels or other supplies for you if you ask. read more

Stayed overnight to attend a concert at the Rialto. We arrived almost an hour early but our room was ready. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. They informed us there was no continental breakfast but they have an agreement with Jerry Bobs across the street which provides a discount if you mention staying at the hotel. The rooms are very clean, the kitchenette is a great deal if you need one, and they also have other kitchen items in a cupboard down from the front desk such as blenders, etc for your convenience. There is a Bashas (Arizona grocery store) across the street where you can shop for longer stays plus Candlewood had a small store of items reasonably priced for quick needs. We would definitely choose them again when in town. read more

I highly recommend staying at Candlewood suites. Extremely clean as soon as I walked in the front door. The gentleman that checked me in during the afternoon was super through. He explained where things were located and times of such. I had a studio on the first floor. Which gave me easy access to the gym/laundry room. The floors, bedding , bathroom, dishes and kitchenette were of top cleanliness. I was happy to have stayed here for the week that I did. Huge plus was that the washer and dryer are FREE!! I didn't get a single decent nights sleep the entire week. The person in the room above me would return late at night and then proceed to stomp around for several hours. I asked to be moved and the hotel staff told me that they could not accommodate my request that day but they could the next. After another miserable evening I went to the front desk and the person working said they had no idea what I was talking about and that they could not move me because they were full. Personally, I'm fairly certain that hotels are rarely at 100% occupancy so I doubt their statement. I wound up leaving early as driving home after a full day of work was preferable to spending another miserable night there and being tired anyways on my trip home. Also, they didn't service the room once while I was there which was annoying. I tried calling them to ask about the five separate charges to my credit card and got put on hold until it finally rang back to the front desk at which point they hung up on me. There's no corporate support for billing questions so you have to call the hotel. There are many options for hotels in Tucson, I would choose one of the other ones. read more

Five stars because the price is fair for the room quality. First the good. The bed was excellent, lighting very good, plugins are plentiful, and the large frig was great. The downside is the staff are not all wearing a mask just a bandana type scarf and the hotel has a ton of canine guests. You can hear barking our first room smelled really bad. Dogs, dogs, dogs. It's like renting in a dog kennel. The management is nonexistent and doesn't seem to care about dogs barking at all hours. They leave dogs unattended in the rooms and bark when someone is outside the room walking by. They make extra money for allowing dogs and their website says they won't allow more than two complaints about a dog barking, which is not true. Can you imagine using the furniture in a room where many dogs have laid and played. And the carpeting which they only vacuum? Wear your shoes or slippers! They offer people who complain another room, but where can they move you, out of the building probably because you can hear these dogs up and down the hallways and in the rooms. You think you are renting in an expensive hotel where you can relax in peace and quiet. Think again! read more

Stayed here for a work trip for about a month. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to your needs. The hotel is located in a nice scenic area of Tucson. A supermarket across the street and plenty of nearby food establishments to choose from. There is a path that is located within walking distance nearby where you can get your exercise on. They also have a small gym with enough equipment to get a good workout in. Laundry facilities on site and a pool and grill. They have some morning snacks they provide in their canteen and it's filled with snacks and toiletries that you can purchase at the front desk. There are free DVD rentals you can pick up at the front desk if you want to watch a movie in your room. What can I say, I lived here for a month and I got no complaints! read more

My husband and I spent one night here. This is the cleanest, most comfortable hotel we have been in since COVID. Everything was immaculate in the room! Everything looks very new and updated. The king size bed is very comfortable and I love the extra touch of having the soft and firm pillows labeled!! The shower is huge and very comfortable with great shower wash/shampoo/conditioner. We only stayed the one night, but thought it was awesome that there is a functioning kitchen in the room (full size refrigerator, two burner stovetop, sink with garbage disposal, dishwasher, plenty of cupboard space)! The only con that we could really think of was that the fourth floor smelled very strongly of smoke- I thought it was cig( but all the signs say smoke free rooms up here). The neighborhood feels very safe and I didn't feel worried about our car outside at all. I definitely wish we were able to stay a few more days! read more

I am vending an art show in Tucson and this place is the PERFECT stay for me! It has a full kitchen, stove (no oven) with all pots and pans needed, tupperware, microwave, toaster and FULL size fridge etc. There is a huge desk where I can work when I get home and a pool/hot tube for the evening. The front desk staff is super helpful and accommodating. Supermarket across the street. I would absolutely pay the extra few $ to stay at a clean, safe, place like this any day! read more

Staying here for the gem and mineral show -- it's very nice and brand new with amenities like a jacuzzi and an outdoor grill. Bit pricey compared to the usual Motel 6, but probably worth it. Flexible with cancellations until fairly late. After staying -- this place was very nice. All new, clean, and set up much more like a condo than a hotel. Rooms equipped with a cross between a full and bachelor kitchen, with a small stove, dishwasher, etc. Spacious, and well-decorated. Would highly recommend. read more

My brother and elderly mother were placed at Candlewood Suites due to a house fire that left them without a home while insurance assessed damages. While their stay a basketball team checked in, and some of the players were placed in the room above theirs. The noise that came from that room during the day and into the early hours of the morning, sounded as if these boys were horsing around, chasing each other, with no consideration for those around them. We complained multiple times with the front desk, the management, and even called the Pima County Sheriffs's Dept. Nothing was ever done! We were told that they spoke to the boys and their coach. Still no relief from the continual noise, thumping around, and slamming of doors. After a week, we were told that this "basketball team" extended their stay another week. We asked if they could be moved to a ground level floor, but that was not done either. It's obvious that Candlewood Suites does not care about their guests, and quality customer service is no where to be found! Once you check in, you're on your own! Save yourself the aggravation of staying Candlewood Suites on River Rd. Stay anywhere else! Wish we had a choice to stay somewhere else!!! read more

The hotel itself is new and very nice, I found the accommodation to be very good. Two things occurred which soured my stay. The 1st was the rate. We clearly made a mistake and booked our arrival date four days before prior to our actual arrival. Again totally my error. When we arrived the rate was 35% higher than quoted on our online reservation. When i questioned this higher rate i was told the winter season rate went into affect two days before our arrival, hmmmm what a coincidence. They would not honor the rate on my reservation but i did arrive a few days later than planned.I expessed my displeasure and the timing of the 35%+/- rate increase. Second issue was i chose to voluntarily waive my daily room cleaning service as i am a tidy person and i make my own bed when i get up. I did need clean towels so i called the front desk and asked for them. I was told i would need to come to the front desk and get them myself as no one was avaliable to deliver them my room. I told them i would come down to get them. I was then told i HAD TO bring my dirty to the front desk in order for them to give me clean ones. Hmmmm. I think it is unreasonable to ask a customer to walk thru a hotel carrying their dirty towels. I guess this was to make sure i was not going to steal my dirty ones, not sure. I did not get clean towels. I chose not to ask for anything else during my stay to ensure there were no more disappointments. Again really nice facility but a really unpleasant experience for me. read more

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel for over three months on business. The customer service of the front desk, house keeping, and maintenance have been incredible! They have gone above and beyond in all ways possible. The location is very convenient with a grocery store and restaurants right across the street. It is reasonably close to the highway but far enough to where it keeps some of the noise and crime away that is in other areas. They have always been more than willing to help if something happens to break or we were in need of something. There is a full kitchen in all rooms, but there is no breakfast downstairs with the exception of fruit and coffee. Also, the wifi can be spotty some times which is not good if you have to do business from the room. Having a back up wifi source is important. There is free laundry,a gym, and a pool/jacuzzi area. There are also grills that are kept up behind the hotel in a nice gated area with tables etc. They even have a lending closet with games and small kitchen appliances as well as a DVD lending library! Awesome place to stay if you are in the area for extended periods of time! Thankful that we were able to stay here. read more

I'm staying here for a few weeks while my Tucson house is being restored in an insurance claim. It's a great location with walking and biking down on the Rillito (river) bike path, easy access to restaurants and shopping, a nice in-suite kitchen, clean well-furnished rooms, great pool, hot tub, and gas grills on the patio. The staff is helpful and friendly. You can check out standard cooking equipment including slow cookers, juicers, toaster ovens, blenders, etc. for free at the front desk. Very clean, modern, and great staff. I had just undergone surgery at Northwest Medical Center and needed a place close by to relax for a day before heading home. The front desk guy, John, got us in early, a God send as I was in some pain and just wanted to lay down. To add icing to the cake, our truck was covered with bugs from traveling out of state so when my wife asked John if there was a car wash nearby, he not only provided directions but gave her a coupon for a few dollars off...his own personal coupon. So from the moment I checked in, the main staff lacked in communication. I checked in Friday night. I was told X was the internet password and that housekeeping only came like every other day. Today (Sunday) is the end of my first reservation (as hotels.com is horrible!!), and noted the normal hotel sheet under my door. No big deal. Now the fun part came...I went downstairs to speak with a manager regarding a few things. This manager is spot on wonderful! He listened to everything and seemed shocked when I mentioned certain things. All in all, he waived the pet fee (as long as the room remains clean - no poop or urine stains - I would be good), apologized for the internet miscommunication to me, and compensated me a few free things due to my inconvenience. Of course I thanked him so much. I will likely updated my post for this hotel tomorrow after I check out. Let's hope tomorrow's Receptionist is spot on with their job. I would like to just check out and not have any issues. read more
