I'm assuming it was the owner that spoke down to me. She talked to me like a child. I get this often because I look significantly younger than 31. She tried to talk me out of purchasing 4 truffles? It was very bizarre. She didn't even put my truffles in a cute box

Beautiful store. Great Vibe. Excellent customer service! Soooo many choices of candy and chocolate...oh my! Part of my order was a gift for two young teenage girls....the presentation was lovely! Service was quick but thoughtful. You must visit...for yourself or for gifts!

5 starts for the amazing assortment of chocolates and candy, 3 stars for the service. So average of 4 stars overall. I got an assortment of truffles, chocolate caramels and chocolate cashew turtles. My children got Halloween candy among which included a Harry Potter wand and a jellied rat. We will be back.

Wow. ACKC, be glad that this shop isn't closer to DC. I think you've met your match. In terms of sheer assortment of confectionery creations, I don't believe I've ever seen are more vast array. Enormous glass cases filled with truffles of all flavors and colors, glass jars of some of my favorite candies (hello Swedish Fish!), shelves crammed with hard candies and jelly beans in rainbow colors, crazy tree stands blossoming with lollipops and candy canes in flavors I've never heard of, and gigantic (likely seasonal) chocolate eggs... that's covers perhaps less than a half of the sweet sweet offerings here. Although we'd just finished an enormous, delicious meal at Volt not half an hour earlier, I picked up three truffles to share: a mint one, a hazelnut one, and a chai one. Such delightfully decorated treats! They run roughly a dollar each, but I don't think I'd want to pop more than one, anyway - they're sizable! It was kind of like walking into a Willy Wonka store - I can only imagine what the place that actually creates these artful candies must be like. And if there's a chocolate river that supplies the input for the hard chocolate shells on the truffles, you better believe I'll be sticking my face in there like Augustus Gloop!

***The chocolates at Candy Kitchen are just okay*** Candy Kitchen is a big and friendly chocolates and candy shop in Downtown Frederick. It has a great look. It is on an old, small town looking street and the walls are lined with all kinds of sweets (I think it has the kind of look that would make many feel like they were a kid again). In terms of their products, Candy Kitchen features a lot of packaged candy including a few nationally available options like the Harry Potter candy, but they also have several chocolate pieces for custom boxes. I tried a few of their chocolates. The sea salt caramel was okay though there was too much sea salt--a big clump of salt on top of the chocolate covered caramel. The dark chocolate almond turtle was good and was similar to an almond bud at See's. The dark chocolate covered marshmallow had a great center, but it (like their dark chocolate almond turtle) just did not feature great quality chocolate. The chocolate at See's has a better flavor and it is also smoother and richer. Since Candy Kitchen's selection is very traditional, this chocolates shop cannot compete with contemporary chocolate boutiques that feature unique flavor combinations and also does not have many advantages over a good (though not great) traditional spot like See's. In terms of Candy Kitchen's prices, I think they are similar to See's though Candy Kitchen might be a little more expensive. Service here is friendly and quick. Candy Kitchen features very traditional chocolates so only a few items here feel special or unique. Nearby Zoe's features much more exquisite and unique flavors. For a traditional chocolates spot, Candy Kitchen is not bad and I would compare it to See's though I think See's is better. Free street parking is available. There is a lot of shopping and restaurants on this street so you might not be able to find an open space close to the store.

Upon asking I was told that it was supplied by a local chocolatier right in town! Off I went in search of confectionary - and was rewarded with a feast for both eyes and palette! "Small shop-Big flavor" comes to mind - and this place brings it big. They offer both chocolate bars as well as bon-bons by the counter. They also sell tinned hot chocolate (so you can make it on your own), and pretty gift sets! I also learned that it is a 3 generation family owned shop - which makes it all the more special!

They had different ones with names like Whoopie Cream, Sweet Tea or Pink Moon to name a few. There are testers available so you can take a whiff - some of them smell really, really good. They also have bath soaps that are locally made and shea butter soaps as well (lavender, jasmine and clementine to name a few) - with smells like those, everyone might want to get one. I found myself looking at a lot of items in the store as I wished I could have bought everything. In the back they had sleepwear with cute sayings - they looked like mini-bags, but once opened it is sleepwear. There is even a section selling items for toddlers or babies (can't remember). Employees were very helpful. Definitely want to come back to this spot.

Before I begin this review...I just want to say I AM *NOT* PREGNANT!…read more But like most women of any age, adorably cute baby crap makes us all mushy and coo. Molly's Meanderings is no different. The majority of the store has nice high end, moderately boho chic clothing...but in the back right hand corner, is a baby corner where my mother in law and I spend nearly an hour cooing over every little thing. Yeah. We're ridiculous. OK, so we weren't going to buy (although my MIL did give me some pointed remarks about procreation), but we were there for so long and cooed so loudly that I was rather surprised that no sales staff came by to check up on us. I mean, really, we sounded like a pack of gestating elephants. We were REALLY loud. And touched everything (and personally, I thought everything was priced a little higher then expected...and by "a little higher" I'm being generous). Anyhoo...the store is cute, packed with stuff, but it's clear that the staff is deaf and blind. Eh.
