"Baby Cake" - like a zebra cake BUT even BETTER than the ones you grew up eating!!!!!!
    Katie B.

If I could eat here daily I would... "Sanctuary" is a spot-on name for this incredible eatery! Tucked away in a cozy spot on Shab Row, you'll find just about every one of your gluten-free heart's desires. Savory and sweet comfort foods; order and eat there, or grab frozen/refrigerated goodies ready to be cooked and enjoyed at home! There is limited OUTDOOR seating only, but that wouldn't stop me from ordering lunch and eating in my car on a cold, winter day! The variety here is so impressive! They cater to many dietary restrictions, with vegan and meat options, as well as treats with and without dairy. I order a bunch of stuff to try. What I've had so far has knocked my socks off! - Apple cider donuts COVERED in cinnamon sugar - the best GF donut I've EVER had!! A fluffy, flavorful dream (not dense at all!) I ordered three and inhaled 2 the moment I got them. The third one held up beautifully until I ate it for dessert the same night. - Baby Cake - described by the cashier as similar to a zebra cake. That definitely sold me, but I would argue. is much better than any zebra cake I've ever had! This delight is a must try!! - Blueberry muffin - seriously, it was the best GF muffin I've ever had. Huge, flavorful, tons of delicious blueberries. It was big enough for two sittings (for me). I will absolutely be getting more of these! - Mac & cheese with crispy chicken - my wife ordered this for lunch and we shared. She agreed to get the dairy free mac & cheese so I could partake (but they have dairy Mac & Cheese too). It was absolutely delicious; the smell and the flavor of the chicken was reminiscent of your favorite fried chicken place. It was flavorful, tender, and a decent portion. I also purchased (but have yet tried) frozen chicken empanadas, eight (I think) ready to bake cinnamon rolls and dairy-free icing (at extra cost). I can't wait to try both of these! Everything that I purchased came to about $86. Yes, certified gluten-free food establishments are not cheap - they literally can't be... but for me, (and my father, who has celiac disease), it is worth every penny to be able to enjoy delectable food out that is both safe and so very satisfying! My only suggestion? Open up a location in Howard county!!!!

My parents surprised me with a custom-made, gluten-free red velvet cake from this wonderful certified gluten-free bakery. It was delicious and gorgeous! I've loved Sanctuary for years because of their wonderful lunches, but this just takes it to a whole new level.

Holy Hannah. This place is amazing! I heard about it from an assistant at my chiropractor's office and after the good things she said, I had to try it. I purchased a frosted sugar cookie, DF pot pie (large) and cinnamon rolls. The sugar cookie was good, a sugar cookie, not much to say. The cinnamon roll and the pot pie though, omg SO GOOD. The pot pie was so full (it weighed 4lbs) and had so much flavor. The crust was delightful. The chicken and potatoes were in big chunks. The peas weren't mushy. I highly, highly recommend trying any of their food.

Excellent gluten-free food. My rasers wouldn't let me have anything but one has celiac's

They have ice cream, but in looking at the ice cream in the display case, it looked like it had been scooped a long time ago. I could see the difference in the sides and where it was scooped like it was getting stickier or melted and refrozen due to time. The freezer case with options to bring home has a great selection of items that are geared towards gluten free folks. However, I noticed a lot of frost burn on some items. The items still look yummy, and I love the variety, I just hesitate to buy items that look a little older. The fresh case with cupcakes looks lovely for the options. They seem to have a good selection! They do have regular cupcakes and add in seasonal selections. There are also some gluten free options in the case. I've eaten cupcakes and cookies here, and they taste good. The prices are fair. When in a bind and having a hankering for sweets in the Westview plaza of Frederick, I would certainly consider dropping by here. The staff are friendly, and the parking easy as pie. So, it's not a bad choice for a little treat. It won't break the bank. Besides, it's nice to support a local business!

I reached out and was speaking to the back end and was told that they were sorry for the quality and quantity of food and that they would mail me a gift card. I am attaching a photo of receipt of how much we ordered. We ordered a chocolate cake, the photo online showed a massive slice of cake, ours looked as if someone cut half of it off where the cake is supposed to be pointed. $12 for half a cake. My bfs meal was supposed to come with two sides. He ordered mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The mashed potatoes were in with the steak and it was a small portion that looked like a small ice cream scoop, ribeye ($49.00). We did not get the Cole slaw. We ordered a house side salad. It was literally a huge chunk of iceberg lettuce thrown in a bowl with some of the sides. ($14.00) I ordered the steak frites (34.00) the fries were fine, my steak had these weird pieces (see photo) inside, that were veins or ligaments but def not edible and very chewy and gross. I chewed a few pieces and kept having to over chew and then would spit out the pieces because it was rubbery, after the second piece I noticed the texture and then spit it out, then saw whatever it was that was causing the texture and issue. Seeing that immediately made me lose my appetite. So I was left hungry and turned off by my meal and filled up on calamari and fries. I have ordered this before and it usually comes with a nice amount of slices. Mine came with four pieces of sliced steak. We ordered the calamari and had no complaints. The back end comes to my house and drops off a GC of $25.00! Which to me is an insult. For that they can keep their cheap cop out. I will not be back. We spent $134.00 and tipped $19.00 for a take out order. And all they could give us back for a terrible experience and quality of food was $25.00?! Their salad alone was $14. The cake is $12. So basically come back spend more money and we will cover one simple thing but several of your items were sub par and or gross. I would not recommend. This restaurant took a lot of money and did the bare minimum to fix the issue and threw a minimum amount to appease the customer. But didn't mind taking my hard earned money, which I will now spend elsewhere. I also will be mailing back the card. Whoever came to my condo to drop off the gift card came at midnight. Which to me is weird and an odd time to come to someone's house. I have it on security video.

The staff was super friendly and noted that customers should try to arrive before 10 AM on the weekends if there's something specific they want since Rise tends to sell out of their popular items pretty quickly. At the staff's recommendation, I decided to get the chocolate eclair, which was both phenomenal and massive. The choux pastry was super light and airy and had the signature firm, slightly crisp outer shell. That shell served as the perfect canvas for the melted chocolate, and the chocolate ganache inside the eclair was rich, creamy, and decadent. The eclair was probably double the size of a standard eclair, and I was thoroughly impressed by how well it had come together -- eclairs are hard enough to make when you're using normal flour, but this was super impressive and didn't taste like it was gluten-free at all.

The sausages looked so good I had to buy some, and after cooking them up with some onions and peppers my neighbors above me who are vegans were peeking as they chewed their grass and had to rethink their decisions on eating food that my food eats. There are fresh made sandwiches that they will press for you and give it that grilled awesomeness that only comes when your doing something special with meat and cheese and good bread pressed with 400 degrees of steel resulting in a sandwich that makes you want to light a subway franchise on fire. Now on my most recent trip, covid is rampantly knocking off people so a lot of the fun stuff has been put away. Normally they have fresh cooked food that you can box up hot and take and eat. The selection ranges from American favorites like loaf of meat and spaghetti to Indian food to soups and salads ( spinach salad is good, the dressing makes it the bomb dot com ) and fresh cookies and breads oh my. They don't have a coupon app thingy that makes you think your saving money like everyone else. The lesson here is pay more money for food that tastes like food and not canned crap. Yes, we all like to save money, and that's noble.
