Horrible experience here. The owner was nasty, rude, and impatient. Oh Nuts down the block is so much friendlier and helpful.

We've been coming here together for years, and it honestly never gets old. The history alone is incredible. It started all the way back in 1937 during the Great Depression as a shoe repair shop with a little candy pushcart outside, and it's still run by the same family today. The second you step inside, you are hit with this amazing wall of pure chocolate and sugar nostalgia. They have absolutely everything packed floor-to-ceiling, from retro candies you haven't seen since you were a kid to massive bulk bins and rare international imports. It is loud, chaotic, packed, and easily my absolute favorite spot in the city. You literally cannot leave empty-handed!

BUT it feels much smaller because the Economy Candy is often superbusy, filled with tourists and locals alike. the shelves are filled with candy, chocolates, snack foods, confections, and more from floor to ceiling,. great place to find unique candy items as well as to just browse and discover new ones. don't sleep on the loose candy area in the front( that's charged by weight)--lots of variety from Reese's mini buttercups to laffy taffy. the staff, in general, can be helpful but they seem hit or miss in terms of presenting a friendly demeanor. beyond that, this store is unique to the Lower East Side if not all of NYC--worth at least one visit.

With windows full of their famed candied apples and many other sweets, you'll be instantly drawn in. The shop is small and can fill up fast, but the staff tries to keep things moving along. It was overwhelming to deside what to get between the chocolates, popcorn, ice cream, soft serve, and candy. On a hot day I decided to get the soft serve. They have chocolate, vanilla, banana, and pistachio flavors, but employees mentioned the banana flavor was most popular. They suggested a double swirl so I could also try the pistachio soft serve. You may also add toppings for an extra 50 cents or do a chocolate or cherry dip for an extra $1. If you pay cash, it's a little cheaper ($5.50 per cone). With credit card there is a service charge of 3.5% on all purchases. Overall, cash is best if you want to avoid extra fees. Stop by this historic spot. Worth a visit when exploring Coney Island!

It's more than an amazing store with an incredible selection of candy, It's charming, friendly and has a magical quality. Eugene is so friendly, ready to help with a smile and made me feel welcome. It was so hard to choose, I wanted everything. Eugene's has his very own candy creations (now my mouth is watering). "Freaks" are Eugene's version of Nerd's but so much better! He makes them in several flavors, and they are amazing! Who knew I would like chocolate covered cornflakes? I am a chocolate lover but I would never have thought of this combo. They are melt in your mouth while, being crispy at the same time. There is a large selection of gummies in so many varieties and flavors. I felt like I went back in time with many childhood candies that I haven't seen in years. I didn't know that candy waxed lips, fangs and mustaches still existed. I totally had to buy my dad Mary Jane's, such a classic candy. I most definitely will be back. Thank you Eugene!

The citrus flavors (grapefruit,…read moreorange, lemon, and lime) are flavored with essential oils and the grapefruit ones taste like a super packed version of my favorite grapefruit gummies. They're bigger and crunchier than the original Nerds, honestly better in every way. After my first trip, I was back within the week for more. For chocolate lovers, there are a plethora of chocolate covered candies and cereals. My go to are the matcha white chocolate covered Frosted Flakes.
