It's Sugar is a must visit when you go to Coney Island. Coney Island has a long history with sweet treats that you need to suck on while you enjoy the sun and rides. Just be careful on the roller coaster you may choke on your candy! It a great place to get the Pez for one of my daughters many Pez dispensers. It's all the usual fun toys and crazy gift ideas. I'm trying to be good and just buy gifts. I do get dry walking on the boardwalk. It's nice to have a candy to water up my saliva. It was such a gloomy, rainy day that me and Andrea took cover inside the IT'SUGAR store. Oooo my eyes totally light up like a little kid =) I grabbed a resealable bag to add some of my favorites such as peach and watermelon rings, gummy frogs, super tiny jaw breakers, multi-flavored gummy bears, and etc I feel that the prices are inexpensive to Dylan's Candy Bar. Just what we all need, more sugar right? IT'SUGAR gets a lot of foot traffic being right in the heart of Coney Island near some place known only by one name for their hotdogs,.... hehe. They do a good job of keeping the favorites in stock and the area inside the store tidy even if the outside world isn't. For this much variety, they are a bit costly, and you have to choose wisely items that you can't necessarily get elsewhere for a better price. There are a few odd items from far away places on the shelf for the curious. It's always fun for the kids and if they are having fun, my day is infinitely better for it. This store can get crowded given it's Coney Island, it's right across the street from where they hold the annual hotdog eating contest, but the checkout line moved quickly and I'm all for moving quickly in and out. Aesthetically pleasing and a great variety of all sorts of treats including the world's largest gummy worm, gummy hamburgers, gummy fried rice in chinese takeout boxes and for the more adventurous candy connoisseur, they offer sugar coated insects like this scorpion lollipop that I bought! Focusing on the primary task of buying candy in a store like this is challenging because there's so much sweetness for you to buy it's overwhelming. Frank heads for the gummy bears section because there the best he's ever eaten. Some of my favorite flavors are: Watermelon Pink Grapefruit Mango Cinnamon (New Flavor) FYI what makes these the best is there soft and explode with flavor, a rare trait for gummy bears. Now the negative about IT'S SUGAR is the price per 1/4 pound. Let's face it if you get on the excitement plan and grab a few bags of candy your at $100 in seconds flat. Lol I went in here with my nephews after craving some Nathan's . I acted a plum fool in there ! We took pictures , sampled candies , and just got lost in the moment . Everything was priced accordingly . It is a Newyork tourist attraction but I was pleasantly surprised at the 2.99 for a 1/4 pound for the individual candies . We all had tons of candy . I even showed them te old school they had never tasted They were AMAZED at the old school cigar gums!! lol I gave each kid their own lil Bag with the Its Sugar emblem on it . After grabbing a bag full of my favorite strawberry banana gummy bears , I all together spent only 14 bucks and came out on top! I've been to these types of candy stores since I was in junior high school, where you buy can by the pound, my cavities prove it...lol The candy is probably really fresh because the gummies (I bought the frog gummies) were really soft. I haven't written a review in some time but felt compelled to because of my experience there yesterday. The space was clean, well-lit, organized, etc. However, my review is for the SEXUAL HARASSMENT I experienced while shopping there. While waiting for one of the bins to be refilled, one of the staff members asked if I wanted the chocolate malt balls he was refilling. I replied yes (thinking he was just being a helpful employee). I was wrong. He then proceeded to ask if I liked balls (emphasis on the like) and then asked if I liked chocolate (emphasis on chocolate). (More inappropriate since he was a person of color.) I thought this was grossly inappropriate. I was not flirting with him and his first question gave me the impression that he was just doing his job. I experienced very friendly service at checkout so this isn't to say that everything was awful. The shop was fine, but they should really train their employees on how to not sexually harass customers (or fellow employees for that matter). read more

Coney Island to me is all about the memories, and all the stuff that has been there since back in the, so I'm a little mad at this candy giant coming to Coney island! My heart will always belong to Williams Candy store (a tiny lil old school candy store that has been around for years and sells true Coney island snacks like candy apples and cotton candy). BUT as a good yelper, I'm going to give a fair review! This spot has all the gummy, chocolate candy you could think of. Lots of unusual fun stuff, like a giant $20 gummy bear, not sure whose going to eat that, but its definitely something fun and different. They have the biggest box of nerds I have ever seen! Candy is sold by the pound so watch your kiddies when there trying to fill up!!!...lol Also lots of cool trinkets, like a red staletto cell phone desk holder (you know i like that!) They have a Marilyn Monroe section with a few things, tote, t-shirts and some mint tins. Also have a really cute Ted section. Staff is great, very well trained. This is your typical tourist spot, prices reflect that! My family and I visited your store yesterday evening. The store was nicely stocked with all the candy we anticipated seeing and we enjoyed the small time we spent there searching for the treat we would bring home with us for the night. However, I have to express how grieving it was to witness one of your employees be so distasteful with a group of customers. From my observation, another customer had become irate because a family of 3-4 had seemingly skipped the line to pay for their goods. From where I was standing, they did not do it intentionally. They just didn't know where the line began. The irate customer began to rant and yell at them and demanded from your employee to hear his complaint. Rather than deescalate the problem by perhaps redirecting the family as to where the line actually starts, she too, began to holler at them. I'm witnessing your employee coupled with this ranting, angry man gang up on this family that made this small mistake that needed to be corrected, but certainly did not warrant this type of verbal response and borderline abuse. This took place at approximately 8 p.m. The young lady that tended to me also wasn't the most welcoming. She displayed a little intolerance when I did not hear her say, "Swipe for debit." I had to respond to her and let her know that the music blasting in the background was not allowing me to hear her well. To that, she gave me a smirk. I'm writing this review, not to cause damage to anyone's business reputation, but to bring an awareness of the importance of training employees to value and respect their customers. When I'm in the area I'm usually getting my caramel apple and something greasy to eat and take home. I stopped in IT'SUGAR and it was your typical candy store, just pricier. They have a nice selection of chocolates, (my guilty pleasure), jelly beans and gummy bears. I also loved all of their old school candies that we used to eat when we were younger. This is a stop to check out on your way home or when you first get to Coney Island because the store is small and gets crowded very fast. It's Sugar is a candy lovers dream! They have a wide variety of candy to satisfy everyone's sugar cravings. The store itself is medium sized, but with all the people crammed inside shopping for candy at the same time, it can get quite tight in there. With all the people shopping, it can sometimes be difficult to locate a staff member if you have a question, which you definitely will. They do not list prices on any of their merchandise aside from the bulk candy, so be prepared to go up to the register not knowing how much you're going to be paying for all your loot. The merchandise they sell at It's Sugar are all the usual things that people enjoy and so much more. They sell the typical candies like gummy bears, sweet tarts and chocolate, but they also sell novelty items. They sell giant versions of some classic candies like hot tamales and mike'n'ike's, They also sell lollypops with scorpions and meal worms inside, dry roasted flavored crickets and edible bras and panties. And it's not all candy, they also have stuffed animals, soft drinks, key chains and coffee cups. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to It's Sugar. I purchased two lollypops with the bugs inside, a 1 pound gummy bear and a box of bacon and cheese flavored crickets and it cost me $20. It's a bit pricey, but that's to be expected considering the location of the store. If you have children, beware though, because the stuffed animals are really pricey. I wanted to buy a plush version of the Grumpy Cat, and it was $20 on it's own. I decided to leave it behind, but you know how kids can be. Also beware of children throwing tantrums, I saw at 3 inside 20 minutes when I was there. Have fun and happy shopping! read more

What better way to go through Coney Island then on a sugar rush after munching on sweets from this place! I absolutely loved this place. Their candy selection was top notch with reasonable prices. They had all the novelty candy you could ever want, and I loved the layout and vibrant colors. It maybe a tourist attraction but what in Coney Island isn't? Feels like I'm a child all over again when coming here! I've been in love with this store and was so happy when this location opened! It's a little pricey but once in a while candy indulgence is totally acceptable. My husband, being the candy eater, has been coming here more often than usual. He's addicted to the banana gummy bears and the red strawberry sour belt. Recently though, I've noticed the newer workers have a bit of an attitude to them. I usually come in at night (around 830) after work, and I've been told multiple times that the store closes at 9, which is acceptable and understandable. Tonight, I came in at 835, and a worker comes up to me and declares that they are closed. I'm sorry but they weren't! It's 835, there's still about 20 minutes till closing. I know exactly what I want. She rolls her eyes and said okay hurry up. Ugh! And when I'm checking out, she's asking me if I'm interested in purchasing a bunch of stuff in the register area. Well, I thought you were in rush to close, but I guess not. The manager was counting a drawer, and as I was putting the items into my bag, the coworker asked him if she can close the doors, and he said "no, we still have 15 minutes you can keep cleaning, we ain't closed yet" seriously?!?
