My family loves Swedish candy. When I found out there was a few stores in New York, I had to make sure we checked it out. Getting to the stores location was actually pretty easy. We took the subway Inn and it was maybe a 5 to 10 minute walk from the station we got out at. It was not crowded at all especially for a Saturday morning around 11 AM. They actually had a delivery being dropped off at the same time we were and did not experience any issues. The staff are so kind and they even offered samples which I thought was fantastic. The pricing is per pound and they have some cute bags and boxes to utilize if you want. Overall, the experience at this store was great. It's a small store and it looks like they stagger customers if it becomes too busy, which is great because no one wants to be surrounded while trying to make a candy decision because I think it's a very important decision. This is something I had in my NYC itinerary - I've seen so many videos on Swedish Candy. I decided to go this location as it was walking distance from Katz. We waited about 25+ minutes although it felt like forever since we were standing outside 20F . There's so many choices of candies from taste to textures. I mostly came for Bubs but they only have the Banana & Carmel one - I liked the texture and that it didn't stick to my teeth. We picked up a few sour candies and those were good but Bubs might've been my favorite. The staff were kind and able to help me out on finding specific candies. I've noticed that local Swedish candy spots in SoCal didn't exactly have the same variety as BonBon, so this was a must-visit during my recent trip to NYC. I was on a personal mission to find Rasberry Puckers. They're super-sour raspberry flavored soda pops and are now my absolute favorite candy. They're ACTUALLY sour, tarty, and have a super nice chew to them. Literally the most perfect sour gummy in the universe. If you're more of a sweet person, I absolutely love the Marshmallow Mushrooms! This mushroom-shaped marshmallow is half strawberry and half vanilla flavored. It also has a lot more structure and chewiness compared to your average marshmallow. Another must-try! I truly get the hype now! This is such a cute candy store and I can definitely see why they've gone viral with their brightly colored and whimsical candy offerings! My friend and I came on a Saturday afternoon (peak hours lol) and we waited on line for about 30 minutes. The store itself was quite small and with everyone clamboring over each other to scoop out their own candy bags, I can see why they have a pretty strict limit. Once you step inside, there's a table right in the middle where you can grab a candy bag to start filling up and sanitized scoopers. As someone with a food allergy, I appreciated how there were clear labels outside of each candy bucket to indicate whether or not something was gluten-free, gelatin-free, etc etc. However, I definitely saw some people grabbing candy with their hands and even with the sanitized scooper system, there's definitely a non-zero risk of cross-contamination if you have a very serious allergy, so just a heads up! I mostly stuck to picking out their gummy candies, though they also had a lot of interesting chocolate options (some of which were even wrapped individually already!) and a licorice section (I'm just not a licorice person...at all lol) I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any bubs or rambos in stock, just because that's what they're really known for (but also understandable since they're so popular and we came at a very crowded time)... Moreover, I had really wanted to try some of their cola/fizzy gummies but wasn't able to find a single bucket of those, which was unfortunate :( I ended up getting some: -duo butterflies & sweethearts: both of these candies have that classic white marshmallow bottom and a fruit gummy on top, they have a wonderfully soft yet chewy texture and weren't overly sweet, loved them! -sour strawberry cream skulls: had just the right amount of sour puckery flavor to them (probably a tiny bit more sour than typical sour patch), which I enjoyed, and the texture was quite chewy without being overly so/sticking to your teeth -sugared apple gummies: had a similarly chewy texture as the skulls, loved the flavor of these! -marshmallow mushrooms: these looked super cute but I would definitely pass on them - the marshmallows turned out to have a much harder texture than I expected and tasted almost stale-like. Ultimately, at over $4/lb of candy, you're definitely paying for the novelty/aesthetic aspect of these candies. I don't think I'll go out of my way back to this store when their stocks can be a bit unpredictable on the weekends and it is quite expensive. However, everything in this store, from their candies to their pink and blue packaging, is too adorable to pass up if I'm ever in the area - I would definitely indulge in a sweet treat here :) read more

I think this is more of a tourist attraction that people found on TikTok and hyped up because I'm not sure what average New Yorker is willing to wait in line for candy and at $18/lb on a daily/weekly basis. It's like those sugar candy stores that you see in time square where they have the candy paid out in little bins and you fill your paper bag with as much and whatever you want. After, you good to the front where your bag is weighted and you pay. The candy I picked are good, but there are definitely alternatives for some, if not all that do not cost $18/lb. All the influencers who come here and spend like $70 are insane cuz you can try a good amount of their stuff for not even half of that. The best BEST thing they have tho are their sour blackberry swedish fish. It's $8/bag which can be pricey for candy but it's so juicy and perfectly sweet/fruity. If youve seen TikTok videos that went viral. Don't even bother ordering. I'm going on second week of my order, they don't respond to email or DM on instagram or TikTok's. They charged my card and didn't ship anything. I thought businesses can't charge till they ship the order? I'm about to do charge back on my bank since they can't ship out product on time. If it was hand specially made items, I fully understand it takes time. Scooping candy from container to bag then put in a shipping box, print label and tape box takes 10-20 mins, 30 max. There is no excuse why orders are being backlogged for several weeks. Are you overwhelmed and don't know what to do? Here's a process. One person can do 26 orders in an 8 hour shift. That's 130 a week. Your candy store cashiers can pack and ship during slow down in the store. Let's say that's additional 60 bags. You can pack 200 a week per store. Edit: I would like to point out that they have time to post 10+ stories on their instagram but don't have time to pack orders. Quit advertising to sell candy you can't pack. They're also deleting negative comments on their TikTok. Oh so you got time to post on social media and delete comments but don't have time to pack orders? I have sent email about canceling my order. In true NY fashion, I had no idea what to expect but was delighted to visit this "sweet" shop. The premise is simple, you walk in, grab a clean spoon and a bag, and start filling the bag to your heart's delight. Don't know if you'd like something? You can ask for a sample.
