Upon arriving, he was also there to check me in. Very friendly and helpful guy. When we spoke days before, I was told that the specific tire I needed would arrive by today but came to find out that it wasn't. However after inspecting my tire, they were able to repair it with a plug since it was just a nail that was causing the slow leak so it did end up working out. But in the future I do hope that it's communicated to me if my tire doesn't show up on time so that any time wasted is avoided. Overall the appointment only took about 45 minutes and I received a text to notify when my car was ready. It didn't cost me anything because I had put warranty on the tire which was also a nice feature they offered. I still plan on coming back to this location next time.

We choose Gerald's as we trust them. We dropped it off at night, so they could diagnose the issue. They called us and said after inspection it was a tire issue. We went ahead with the service as they recommended it. When they called us to pick it up, I asked if they were able to confirm if the issue was resolved. If not, we could have it further diagonsed and resolve the issue. They told me they do not drive the cars after installing tires. Odd as how would they be able to confirm if the issue was resolved? Continuing to trust them, we picked it up and our car. Unfortunately for us, we have two new tires and a car that still shakes.

Today, I brought that tire back because it had a nail in it and needed to be repaired. The technician patched the nail hole, but while working on my tire, HE BLEW A HOLE IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PART OF THE TIRE! Then they made ME PAY FOR ANOTHER TIRE because of damage that happened to my tire while it was in THEIR SHOP! DO NOT GO HERE. THEY LOST MY BUSINESS PERMANENTLY. UPDATE: It somehow got worse. After I had already PAID for the replacement tire and walked outside to get into my car, the manager came outside behind me calling my name. I ignored him because, at that point, I had already paid for the tire and was leaving. He followed me outside, walked up to me and said, "I saw your negative review." He then got in my face, became aggressive with me, and called me an "old bad man" because I was ignoring him. Yes, at that point I cursed him out. He then told me that if I hadn't had a "bad attitude," he MAY have helped me. Helped me HOW? I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THE TIRE AND WAS GETTING INTO MY CAR! If he intended to resolve the situation, why did he wait until AFTER I had paid and was leaving, and AFTER he had seen my negative review, to approach me? I do not know this manager's name, but I will be contacting ownership about his behavior. A manager following an upset customer outside after the transaction is over, telling the customer he saw his negative review, getting in his face, insulting him, and then claiming he might have helped him if he had a better attitude is completely unacceptable. And here's the final part that really got me: I specifically asked them to check the pressure in ALL FOUR of my tires before I left. I drove away with my tire pressures at: 40 PSI -- 31 PSI -- 32 PSI -- 31 PSI The tire at 40 PSI was the NEW tire they had just installed. My vehicle's tires are not supposed to be inflated over 36 PSI. So after I specifically asked them to check all four tires, they let me leave with one tire at 40 PSI and the other three at 31-32 PSI. This entire experience--from damaging my tire, making me pay for the replacement, the manager confronting me outside after seeing my negative review, and then sending me away with uneven tire pressures--was completely unacceptable. I will NEVER spend another dollar at this business, and I will be contacting ownership.

I had Southern Tire of Summerville mount and balance a new set of wheels and tires on my truck in…read moreNovember. I normally install and torque my own wheels, but they insisted on installing them. A few months later, when I attempted a routine tire rotation, the lug nuts were so tight that neither my impact gun nor a breaker bar could remove them. It took a two-foot cheater pipe to break the first one loose, and the second lug nut snapped during removal. I contacted Southern Tire, and they asked me to bring the truck in. While attempting to remove the lug nuts, their technicians broke 10 more lug nuts. I later spoke with another manager and technician who inspected the truck and agreed it did not appear to be a corrosion, rust, or saltwater issue. We discussed scheduling repairs, but after I dropped the truck off, I was told they still could not remove all of the lug nuts and that the shop would not cover the damage, citing a posted policy regarding lug nut and wheel damage. At that point, I had no choice but to repair everything myself. Over the following weeks, I removed both front hubs, replaced damaged wheel studs, pressed in new studs, and corrected all of the mechanical damage. During those repairs, I also discovered two rear lug nuts that were only finger-tight. The truck is now mechanically repaired, but I am still left with damaged wheels, uneven tire wear from not being able to rotate the tires, the cost of replacement parts and specialty tools, and many hours of my own labor. Mistakes can happen in any shop. What disappointed me most was the lack of accountability and the refusal to stand behind the work. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Southern Tire of Summerville.
