WOW. This place was INCREDIBLE, so many things you learn and find out about the ark. I had a great time and learned a ton, would definitely recommend visiting if you're near by!!

We felt like this attraction though is such a money grab especially for it being in the middle of nowhere. Many things are extra. And I didn't care for the amount of things that were about the man who built the Ark. I feel biblically - it shouldn't be about him. Many of his items were for sale in the gift shop, many movies were pertaining to him and lots of exhibits were about him and his opinion. I felt like there was almost less to do inside the Ark than my first visit but maybe I'm wrong. Buffet was good value for what you get. I'd recommend going a little before lunch. We didn't wait at all. The zoo was cute, you can pet a kangaroo- but was a bummer it's only on the path. So if a kangaroo doesn't cross the path you can't pet it. Zoo keeper was pretty abrupt about that. Eagle and barn animals were cool! Camel encounter costs extra. As well as gem mining and the Virtual Reality is extra too. Playground area was a hit for our kids. (This is free and included) We spent less than four hours here and we felt we did everything we could that was included in our ticket. We skipped the gift shops as it was very overpriced.

Enjoyed the blacksmith demonstration, and the numerous artifacts and posters combine to form an intimate narrative of the place. The fort itself seems a little run down, and a few of the employees seemed standoffish and irritable on the day that we visited, especially the woman in the first cabin with a person. I didn't really understand why she seemed so agitated at another person near us asking a very simple question. Bizarre. We got the heck out there. The monument in front of the fort easily had a hundred bees buzzing around it, so beware if you have bee sting allergies.

We were definitely pleased with the accuracy of the fort replica and the knowledge of the staff. We learned about how they made wood tools, how they spun linen into thread and how to use a loom. They had some more exhibits that were unmanned at the time like making soap and a traditional garden. They also had a gift shop but I wasn't all that impressed and thusly did not purchase anything. The grounds were very nice and very well maintained. The fort was peaceful and not crowded at all, the only downside was that the kids were horribly bored. I can't really blame the museum too much for this....it WAS near the end of a long hot day, but the place really isn't geared towards younger kids. So it's up to you if you think your kids would enjoy long in depth detailed and historically accurate descriptions of the tasks I listed earlier.....is so then you will be pleased. In our case the kids were not, but that didn't stop us from having a great time, 4 Doubledays for you....and nice work!

If it is electric it lights up, it is an instrument it plays, if it is a diamond it is a diamond....well you get the point that it is a big deal to be a small deal. They have the historical info about the town and details on interesting local lore. Come and see what you can learn as I have no spoiler alerts. If you know history your knowlegeably ahead of the game and still much more to learn all the time. Discount is only for students, none for seniors or military. Current cost is $10 per person. They do also have a Pouge experience next door and you can sample the DSP 3 rye and bourbon for an extra $5. This not the distillery site. A must do on a hot day or cold day. Find out why hush puppies are called that name. Time to learn and appreciate craftsmanship.

We were overwhelmed with the quality and size of the museums displays. It's like you were giants in a Twilight Zone movie looking into real tiny houses that's how lifelike they were. The Spencer's House was fantastic. They have a movie playing about the creation of it. There are several rooms full of all sorts of displays. More will be added in the spring of 2024. This is a must see collection. We were also impressed with the other displays in the museum. These were focused on the major historic milestones of Maysville. Also displays of major products produced in that region. I would say we never expected this level of quality and size in a small town museum.
