The Canfield Fair, last day, Labor Day , happen to be when I was in town. Coming from WNY, the fair admission was very reasonable at $8, including your parking, as long as you parked in public lot. Monday was the perfect temperature to walk around. My area main local fair is quite expensive, doesnt include parking and not as large. Visiting people in town, had there recommendations on what to check out, which i was able to check out and enjoy the experience. The fair value, foods, buildings , horse racing, animals, people, old village, and carriage museum were outstanding. My favorite fair stand was one of the vendors that sold elephant ears, or as i know it as fried dough; for the uniqueness of the elephants in a display case. Antones, you won me over with your pasta. Will defintly get food from your restaurant, on a future visit. This truly deserves being known as the third largest county fair in Ohio. The inclusion of the US map, to allow vistors from out of state, or out of country, to mark where there from; in my opinion, made it a welcome all, homey feeling fair. Came here for a big dog show that is open to the public. Found the grounds easy to navigate, park and get to arena and show tents. Lots of parking for RVs and easy electric hook ups. Would use this venue again. The show is easy to be a visitor or an competitor. Lots of venders and inside and outside activities. Great dog show! . read more

Went to see Brad Paisley in concert at the fair. Here is THE GOOD, THE BAD, and a SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION. THE GOOD 1. Brad Paisley was fantastic!!! I wasn't a fan, I just went to hang out with some friends that are. But, his show was awesome. I really enjoyed his performance. 2. We got something to eat on the way out and the vendors were really nice, even after having worked all day. 3. The policemen on ATVs in the orange lot were very polite, professional, and helpful. We had trouble finding our car and they really went above and beyond to help. THE BAD 1. The private security guards at the entrance to the concert were absolutely awful. These guys were running completely "open loop" -- no supervision, no training, no accountability, no signage, no standardized screening procedures, no name badges or other visible identification. Clearly somebody gave them a white polo shirt and said "go at it!" SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION 1. Go see Brad Paisley. He puts on a fantastic show and will have you dancing and singing, even if you are not a fan. Just go see him anywhere but here. 2. In spite of the many positives from many hard-working people, the private security people at the entrance to the concert just found a way to ruin the whole experience. The Canfield Fair is Ohio's largest County Fair! It takes place each year starting five days before and leading up to Labor Day. There's lots of food vendors, plus amusement park style rides, and lots of farm animals to see. ( You can even try your hand at milking a cow!) there are horse races, weiner-dog races. There are model trains set-up, Boy Scout campground, Arts and Crafts, antique tractors and farm equipment, and the biggest pumpkin in the county! (This Year it is as close to 1,600 pounds!). It was pretty underwhelming. 89 degrees and 50+% hunidity was a recipe for exhaustion. Cooking food aromas wafting through the air were very tempting and difficult to choose what to eat. Prices were a little steep, however. I loved the exhibits. I was not aware of the variety of tomatoes alone. Great chance to gather as a community. Carnival rides were a little pricey for a mediocre time. read more

The Youngstown areas must-see event of the year always gives locals "Something to Crow about! This year's massive fair included Grandstand performances from country acts Blake Shelton, Martina, McBride, and Scotty McCreary. Not really up my alley, but some pretty big names none-the-less. I opted out of animal viewing, as nothing can curtail a fair trip like an allergic reaction. Additionally I passed on any rides that could have been constructed by my father on a free weekend. Fan favorites like the Zipper and Pharaoh's Fury were present as they are every year. No rollercoaster this time around though. My date marvelled at the carnie acts like the snake woman and pretzel girl, all with the very candid advertisement: "alive"! The food item of the weekend seemed to be the Cavatelli Bread Bowl's that were concocted by DeLuca's and Antone's, so I definitely gave one a spin. It certainly lived up to the billing. Food was my primary purpose for fair dwelling this year. I enjoyed the following items: Veggie Stromboli Lemon Shake Fries with vinegar Deep Fried Snickers Deep Fried Peanut-Butter-and-Jelly Orange Shake Hot Fudge BACON Sundae The BACON Sundae was further evidene that like the color black, BACON goes with everything. I'm getting hungry again just writing about it. My date and I also enjoyed honey from the bee farm and eyeing the food from the baked goods competition. We toured the old town and train at the back of the fairgrounds, but did not take part in any of the games fo chance. Nor did we stare at the plethora of handmade engines or get sucked in by the whirlpools for sale in the last leg. I also was smart enough to avoid parking my car in a muddy field this year. All-in-all another great year for the fair. I hope to be back soon. read more

I have to say I just went to the fair with my 2 year old son who was exactly 36inches. We specifically asked the ticket lady if it would be worth it to buy him a wristband and she said yes there would be rides for him. There was absolutely NOTHING he could ride. Everything the attendant said he was too small. Wasted 40$ on 2 wristbands, one for him and me to not be able to get on anything. Even the swinging boat had nobody operating it, so we couldn't even do that. Super disappointed and waste of money I could've used for games he could've enjoyed. Thanks. Maybe have ur holders know if there's no rides for a small child when we ask! read more

Great place to spend time with the family!! But you MUST REMEMBER THE EXACT PLACE YOU PARKED!!!! The lady directing traffic was clueless . Told us to go one way when actually it was the opposite we needed to go. Most of the "street" signs were down. So you could walk for a while before you knew exactly where you were going. Great fair, just needs some adjustments. Stadium where truck and tractor pulls are was uncomfortable. You can purchase tickets online, ( unaware), bought tickets at the Box office, section B , Row JJ, of KK. Can you say stairway to heaven? Yeah... That bad. Asked to be lower... NOPE. Not unless you pre-ordered tickets. TONS of food!!! Average $6-7 for gyros, Stromboli, cavatelli, pizza, salads, Chinese,..... read more

A must visit and a long time tradition. The food keeps me going back every year! Go hungry & try everything richardsons fries, primaveras very different porktato and sandwiches , Jaams pasta, Lobos cavatellis and rutans apple dumplings are a few must haves. We recently moved here from Southern California and we're looking forward to trying out this fair. What a disappointment. The rides for kids were average and after buying a wristband pass found out that the fun house and other walk-through type activities cost money and the wristband was not accepted. Probably won't be returning. read more

It is a great fair if you only have one child or have a ton of money. Admission is over priced! To get in to see anything in the grandstands you pay 7.00 to get in the main gate then an extra 9-12. And oh teens pay adult prices. When I was a kid 17 and under was youth prices. So for my teens to go to ride it is 27.00 per kid Cedar Point or Geauga Lake are cheaper than that! So we never get to go to the grandstand events. I know most other fairs do NOT charge for grandstand events. read more
