My biggest issues were consistency on how they looked after and how they were treated there. They look fantastic every time and are not terrified to go back. Unfortunately, my dog came down with Kennel Cough exactly 9 days after being groomed here - TWICE. So the cost of grooming turned out be $150.00 more for the vet bill and medications. Obviously, the first time this happened, I thought it was coincidence and had been happy with everything else about going there, so I went back. The same thing happened the next time! My dog doesn't go to dog parks or anywhere else where he is around lots of other dogs. He has always been vaccinated against kennel cough...I think that's why he only had a mild case. But I don't believe it's worth going back here. For me, the worst part was that the owner showed no interest in or concern about this experience. Not even an apology. read more

I took my dog here a few month ago to get a standard "puppy cut". I warned the groomer that my dog doesn't do well with baths and such... She said he would be done within 3 hours or so. After 4 hours, we call and they say he's still not ready. After 5 hours, still no call. At the 5 1/2 hour mark, we went there anyway--he was ready. They acted very strange when we were there and till this day, I have no idea why it took so long. There was only one other dog there and 2 groomers. My dog was left in a back room for God knows how long. Because of this awful experience, I've decided to cut my dogs hair on my own and will never recommend this place to anyone. Btw, my dog is a small poodle mix and at the time of grooming, was just under a year old. He is not aggressive but is afraid of large vacuum looking hairdryers. read more

I've taken my dog to probably 3 other places in West Seattle for her usual nail clippings and gland squeezing. Out of every where, this place is the most affordable and does a fantastic job. I recently took Mary Jane in for a wash, nail clipping, gland squeeze, and teeth brushing. All of that came to $30 where as I used to pay $21 at a place closer to my house JUST for the nail clipping. I will continue to bring MJ here - her nails stay shorter longer and my wallet appreciates it. :) read more

Caring groomers who love what they do. I have 3 - Chi-terriers -That all get groomed at Canine Casa- they always look great after they are groomed. Kim and Cherie are two very caring animal people that know their dog clients well... and very patient. They work very hard at their craft to please their customers and owners. Just ask my shy terrier Olive. When Olive first started going to Canine Casa she was so nervous she pooped.. 4 visits later she sits proud as if to say "look at me getting all pretty" Olive even lets her nails get trimmed with out biting...that's a leap in itself... Cherie helps local rescues by offering free grooming to help rescues and homeless dogs get adopted .She is a caring groomer with a heart of gold...or should I say "dog treats" Cherie will stays after work at times to groom rescue dogs now that's dedication... Oh and don't forget the cats... Cats are always first in the morning so dogs don't stress them out. (Smart thinking) read more

I stop in here about once a month to get my dog Indiana's nails trimmed. They take walk-ins, only charge $5 and have a frequent buyers card. What's not to like about that? Gus, our Golden, went into Canine Casa today and he came back a new dog! I could hardly recognize him. His coat was getting out of control and way too hot for the recent weather we'd been having. I half-expected him to come back with a Marine buzz cut, but they did a bang-up job with Gus. He looked great. Clean, trimmed, shaven, clipped. I really wanted to like this place. I read over ten great reviews on another website. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. First of all, they charge $80 or $85 for grooming a cat (which meant a lion cut shave.) That is the most that I've ever paid, so I figured this must be a really nice place. I was so wrong. I normally take my cat into the Dog Spa of Seattle (they are wonderful), but I couldn't wait, so I thought I'd take my cat somewhere close to home. This place was dirty and smelled so badly. After 3-4 hours they called me to say that she was done. When I walked in to get her, there were many dogs in there, many people, and it stunk to high heaven. With such chaos and noise I wondered how my poor cat was doing. They seemed to sense my horror, and said, oh she's in the cat room. What cat room? And for all that time and money, they didn't even do a good job on my cat. She was mostly shaved for crying out loud, but her hair wasn't even cut straight. This was a horrible experience and I would never take any pet back here. read more

Cherie has done wonders with my wiggly 45 pound bordoodle puppy. His first appointment was for shampoo and cut only around his face and bottom areas. Before his second cut, I got him used to the clippers by running the handle of a sonicare toothbrush over him while giving treats! He was very excited to come back for his second haircut, which went amazing and he received compliments wherever I took him. Now he has had three cuts, and he's a regular. read more

The ladies at Canine Casa are great! I take my 10-lb Havanese in for a full cut a few times a year, and she always comes back looking, feeling, and smelling amazing. The ladies always take my requests for cutting as well, every time she looks even better! The prices are reasonable, but have gone up from when I first started coming. I have been wanting to let everyone know how awesome they are at Canine Casa, but like everyone else I have been very busy with life. So I had a very poor first vist with them when I had my 11yo Lhasa boy get groomed. But they made it right when they had me come back and do it again and they were wonderful. They did a fantastic job, and they refused payment. A very nice class act. My Lhasa is not an easy one to do, so that they were able to everything he needed and he looked so awesome was a great experience. We have finally found a great grooming house for our boy. We have two male Lhasa Apso purebreds who we keep 'natural' (no special cuts or styling) We took them to CC after a 'reasonable' first visit, for another 'treatment'. We were again assured a 3-4 hour time-frame but at almost 4 hours, we called and were told that they'd be ready in another hour, but had "a lot of mats". Long, fine haired small dogs of this breed get mats frequently. After almost 5 hours, after my wife having to cancel an appointment, we dropped in and we were told they were STILL WORKING ON THEM. Unlike the first time, our younger male was trimmed on his forehead in a very unnatural and unrequested "style" & the excuse given for 3-4 vs 5 hours consisted of blaming their mats, blaming the extensive skin care and dips plus a lot of hot air. FIVE HOURS, come to reality folks... They were not up-front with us, charged an extra $10 per puppy for "the extra time". A professional dog groomer knows what is involved in grooming a breed and will never make major alterations or any 'styling' without express instructions from the owner(s). Probably not blame a normal amount of matted hair on a fine, long-haired purebred either. They will also be consistent or prearrange for any variations from the normal service-style. We will not return to Canine Casa as it was the owner that gave the lame excuses. Several West Seattle groomers have better ratings. Allie & Cato will be happier without being imprisoned for half-a-day just for a bath and a trim and almost $100.00. read more

The ladies here are super nice and always do a good job with my dog. There's a hint of sketch. But far less than Petco and QFC... That said, I have no problem with this as long as people treat my dog nicely, treat me nicely, and do a good job. For the record, my dog doesn't require a specific type of trim. I just need her clean, trimmed a little, and treated nicely. They do all this and I'm grateful that they can usually get us in quickly. And they all seem to be genuine animal lovers. read more

They do a great job grooming my 2 some times poorly behaved dogs. I can't even clip one nail without them loosing their minds, yet the ladies that do the grooming get them looking great. She comes out clean and smelling nice. I am surprised that there seem to be a some bad experiences there. Overpriced, horrible cut/groom, and they do not follow instructions. I took my cocker spaniel in for a groom with express written instructions that he receive a cocker cut. Instead they shaved one year's worth of growth off of his side featherings. They told me he was too matted, which is not true as we thoroughly combed him immediately before taking him in. Further, the cutting they did was extremely uneven and looks home-done. I will not return. A sign in the window says "help wanted". No kidding. read more

It appears they have new owners or owner is not in shop anymore. They are conveniently down the hill from where my mom and dad live and we take our family dog in for a bath, haircut, and nails. What used to take 4hrs (chow/newfie mix) was only taking 2-21/2 hrs. They cut around her face unevenly and didn't do anything with the hair from her winter coat, she was beginning to mat which was why we took her in, but nothing was done about the undercoat. Her nails were supposed to be cut, but not even two weeks later we could hear her on the wooden floors. Used to be top-notch. Trying a new place now. read more

We started using this groomer for our Shih Tzu and most recently our Wheaten Terrier for the last 1.5 years. They've done great work with both of our dogs and we continue to go back every couple months. The dogs are there for most of the day and they call you when they've finished. They're always busy but it's not too hard to get an appointment within a week, which I like. Occasionally, they cut the dogs shorter than I feel like I requested, which is the reason I'm not giving them a 5 star review. Other than that though, the cuts have always been good and the dogs come out happy and sporting cute bows and bandanas. I would recommend them! read more

We decided to give this place another try, as they had scalped our beloved Goldendoodle the last time. We specifically told them not to touch his tail. They said his hair was terribly matted, so they had to take it all off -- even his tail, which wasn't matted at all. Now it looks like a rat's tail. He's been to another groomer who had the patience to work with his matted hair, and charged $45, not $85. Unfortunately, this was in Oregon. It may be worth the drive, though. read more

We gave then two chances - first time our dogs trim was good but his ear hair had not been plucked, second time his trim was very rough, his ears were obviously trimmed at different lengths which required a return visit, his stomach and hind legs weren't trimmed at all, and to top it off he returned with fleas. I would never take my pup here again. After 3 visits I feel justified to give you all a big thumbs down!!! Let's review....first visit, you practically shaved my poodle/bischon, not too cute. My second visit he looked ok but you had him for 4 plus hours. This last visit you had him for 6 hours! Poor pup had to pee so bad he pee'd all over his front legs, kinda ruins the freshly shampooed pup! Not to mention his nails were not trimmed nor did you "pluck" his ears, all of which are part of his "standard" grooming. It seems like you over- book for the time & space you have, we the customer & the pup pay the price! P.S. blaming the dog owner for "not brushing or combing" their pet seems to be your standard excuse for taking too long and cutting the dogs too short. Seems to me that dog owners willing to pay $45+ a time for grooming most likely take time at home too. read more

I have taken both my dogs here every 6-8 weeks for almost 4 years. Cherie does a great job handling my bigger dog Arthur, as he is a special needs 20# hyperactively insane poodle with a heart of gold. (A groomers nightmare!) And my other dog (Chihuahua) Ice comes home from there like he just spent the day at the spa. I just called to make an appointment today and the owner is out for a few weeks recuperating from back surgery and the shop is closed during that time. (Get well soon Cherie!) I have gone to Canine Casa for years always with great results. It all started with an uncooperative older Schnauzer that no other groomer could handle. Here I was told he was no problem and he always looked beautiful when I picked him up. I currently have another dog that is afraid of people and Cherie is VERY patience each time to win his trust. I know he is probably not be an easy one to groom but I am always told he was fine and he looks great. I love that I can always get an appointment quickly.
