With a few simple ideas that we were able to implement right away, we were able to take charge of our Havanese puppy who was trying to take charge of us! I am not one to write reviews but when somebody makes the impossible possible I have to let everybody know. I only wish I could give Gwen "Canine Construction" a hundred stars, she's worth every one of them and more. I have a young German Shepard rescue he was about 8 months when he came to us, having no idea about his past, thinking that this was a temporary situation and my inexperience with this type of dog turned out to be more than I could handle. I love him and wanted to do be able to keep him but it was not looking good. Then came Gwen, an angel in our eyes, she is teaching me and Porter so much, (mainly me) She is patient, kind, knowledgeable, dedicated, smart and knows what she's doing. Scheduled a first session a few days in advance. Called same day to confirm appointment and left several messages and texts. Never heard back all day and trainer was a no show. Very disappointed. Had high hopes for this trainer as she was very nice and helpful over the phone. Given the trainers track record on Yelp, I'm hoping this was a fluke. I just wanted to update. For our third lesson (second private) we went to Pet Food Express to bathe Rooster, who HATES baths. She worked with us for longer than an hour to make sure things went well. He improved so much over the two other times that we bathed him. Before he would freak out, this time he was pretty fussy but markedly improved. She explained that we need to desensitize him, and explained how we can go about doing that. She really knows her stuff. If your dog is less than perfect, call Gwen. Just in the short time we have been working with her, we see such an improvement in our puppy. We now see just how much potential he has, and Gwen is taking us there. read more

I have a one year old Great Dane who was having some behavioral issues while on walks. After watching many videos online to try and correct the issues, I was having no luck. I rescued my dog Eve about 2 1/2 years ago. Gwen was the one that actually found her for me. She said I have a beautiful dog for you, she's 8 months and she needs work but I feel like she will fit right into your family(just my daughter and I). She wanted me to meet her to see what I thought. So I thought about it for like 5 min and I said why not! Later that day I met up with her and Eve and I fell in love with her! Eve was severely abused by a man from her previous owner. So that being said she was terrified by any man. When I took Eve home she very quickly bonded to my daughter and I. Very shortly after I took Eve home I started weekly lessons with Gwen. Eve was a very timid, shy, and had very little confidence when I got her. I couldn't even walk her down the sidewalk without her trying to go for a man she saw close by. With Gwen's help every week she was slowly getting her confidence back. Gwen always made everything she did with Eve look so easy! It always took me a couple times to get it right, she was always super patient and stuck with me until I had it down perfectly. Now 2 1/2 years later Eve is a whole new dog! She walks with confidence and I couldn't ask for a better best friend! She has made so many new friends including men! I'm so grateful for everything Gwen had helped me with, she is an amazing dog trainer I watched Eve transform into a whole new dog, it's a great accomplishment for me and my family. Gwen has been working with my dog for about a month now. He is now almost nine months old. Before she started working with him, he would pull on the leash, bolt outside when the door was opened, and jumped up on people. At this point he heels nicely, waits at the door until he is told its OK to go out or come in, and knows how to behave around people. I have a Yellow Lab named Dusty. Well Sweet Lovable Dusty could be a handful. Before Dusty was a year old I had took him too 2 puppy classes with different companies. Well by the time he was 2 years old I couldn't even walk him. it wasn't really working partly because I never followed through. Dusty was 2 years old before I seek out a Dog Trainer. After calling around in the phone book to different companies and asking alot of questions. That's when I found Gwen Davidson. When Gwen came to the house she was professional and I knew she had a love for what she was doing. Training people and Dogs. She spent time talking with me then We proceeded outside with the dog. I could not walk Dusty he would pull so bad he would jerk my shoulder and wrist out of place.My neighbors would always say that dusty was taking me for a walk. It wasn't funny anymore though. I worked with The Trainer and within an hour I was walking him down the street. I continued to work with him on walking until my next appt. with Gwen.The trainer and I worked on come sit stay and other things. Like placing his fanny on a place board which we still do before he gets his food daily. I had a big problem with him barking when I would stop the truck. and he was in the back. He would think it was time to get out I guess and he carried on like a out of control dog. So Gwen and I went around to dog parks, stores just about anywhere. We would stop not letting him out. We hired Gwen when our aussie pup was about 3 months old. She trained him (and us!) tirelessly, responded quickly to new challenges, and helped turn him in to a "superdog."
