We just completed our second training camp with my clever canine. At our first experience our dog was roughly 5 months old and this time we were returning with a 1 year old pup. We had maintained a nice foundation but felt it was appropriate based on a myriad of factors. We were placed with Emily and our experience was excellent. We knew Emily from many of our group trainings but had yet to do extensive one on one with her. Emily's approach is honest, consistent, soft (but firm) and very relatable. She was communicative in every way and made us feel safe. Given we had already done one camp we felt comfortable with the facility but each trainer brings their own nuance. Emily was clear and concise with each weekly update- she was really positive and had a ton of healthy feedback. Training is a huge investment of time and money.... Something we don't take lightly, but we have felt it was incredibly worth it both times. The continued support offered is 10/10, the communication is consistent and the general vibe is that everyone really wants to be there, including all the pups. Hayes was only 8 weeks old when he went off to MCC for training. After 4 weeks, Hayes came home to us a pro at so many commands - sit, down, wait, leave it, kennel, place, free, go potty and more. He's even walking on a leash very well! He started sleeping in his kennel through the night on day 3! He got sick while at training but the trainers took excellent care of Hayes taking him to the vet and giving him his medication and ensuring he was still training when he felt well and took great care in not exposing the other animals to him while he was ill. We took our dog Joey to My Clever Canine, and we are so happy with the results. Joey is a chihuahua/yorkie rescue who was extremely reactive to other dogs, making it very difficult to take him on walks. I can't say enough about My Clever Canine! They have helped my dog Rosie so much. We adopted Rosie when she was around 2 years old. We can not recommend My Clever Canine enough - what a fantastic experience!!!! We brought our eight week old puppy Sim to MCC for their four week puppy program and it is the best choice we could have made for our family. Our trainer, Emily, encouraged him to come out of his shell and build his confidence, while also getting him started on the essentials like crate and potty training. Both Tim and Emily were incredibly thoughtful and informative while Sim was in training, connecting with us once a week over the phone and sending photos of his progress. Emily gave us clear steps to follow once Sim came home, eliminating all of the panic of those first few days. What went wrong? We contracted for a labradoodle from a respected breeder in Sacramento. We had first pick of the litter. We took home a beautiful blue eyed (at the time) male puppy we named Maverick. We potty trained him (maybe only 4 accidents), crate trained him, taught him tricks and thought we were off to a good start. We could tell he was a very smart dog and picked up quick. One regret we have, we wish we socialized Maverick more as a puppy and did not worry about lack of vaccinations or what he may have caught without them. Maverick developed a fear issue and attacked to overcome this fear. Grooming him was near impossible. We did the Petco training where we first noticed the behavior, then hired an aggressive dog specialist to nip this early and then had an observation from some other trainers experienced with aggressive dogs and this is where Tim and Amy were recommended. Returning the dog to the breeder and euthanasia was coming up over and over again and this was NOT an option for my wife, even though Maverick was still under a year old, my wife was attached. The conservative spender that I am, I was not happy about the amount of money we were about to spend to get this young dog fixed/trained professionally. I love animals but understanding the dog's lifeline and the cost of professional training gave me mixed feelings. However, happy wife; happy life. I just wish we knew about Tim and Amy earlier. Maverick ended up staying with Tim, Amy and Emily for 16 weeks. Amy explained Maverick would continue to be a work in progress and if we were willing to put in the work, he would be a good dog for us. He is never going to be a social dog and we would still have to take precautions with him. After Maverick's stay at My Clever Canine, we got back such a disciplined and well-mannered dog. He listens to us on the things that are important, and we are still seeing improvement as we continue the training from home. The old adage, "you get what you pay for" is exactly what you get from My Clever Canine. You get professional training for your dog and for you. We are in a better position to keep Maverick on a structured path moving forward. Tim has lots of videos online which allows us to reference when we forget what we are supposed to do which is very helpful. I couldn't recommend My Clever Canine highly enough! We adopted a younger dog from a shelter and had some issues with fear, growling and behavior a few weeks into our new dog being home. We were referred to trainer Emily who spoke to us on the phone about the issues we were seeing, and how they use reward based training to help with behavior modification. She took the time to really hear our issues, and then explain the program to new dog owners like us. We decided to enroll him in the program, and dropped Lucky off as part of the 8 week intensive training, where he lived with Emily. She was very communicative during the time he was away with calls, texts and pictures. We also loved seeing him on their IG feeds to see his progress! Lucky just came home from the program, and we've noticed such a difference in our dog! He's much more confident, and now we have better tools to communicate with him. Some people are fine with it, some (especially small children) can get scared. We wanted to make sure our dog knows how to behave properly in any given situation. We boarded our three month old puppy with My Clever Canine for four weeks and the training she received was invaluable. Tim, her trainer, worked with her on leash training, potty training, socialization with other dogs, crate training and recall. There are only so many things you can teach a three month old puppy, but Tim was able to teach our puppy everything she was capable of learning at that young age. We adopted our young German shepherd, Sharpe, from a shelter. Our beautiful boy quickly became the center of our lives, but suffered from dog aggression and a generally anxious nature that made day to day living difficult and public excursions almost impossible. After a year of working with other trainers who did not understand or have the tools to correct our dog's behavioral issues, we were referred to Amy at My Clever Canine. We made the difficult decision to leave our pup for two months for behavioral and obedience training. His transformation is nothing short of miraculous - our psycho hose beast has been transformed into a calm, patient dog whose love, loyalty and playfulness has not been diminished in the slightest. In fact, we think he is even more affectionate than he was before his training, and very clearly he is a happier, better-adjusted dog. Dog training is not a "pay and walk away" kind of service. It's easy to send a dog to a board and train and get them back and loose all the momentum and have them revert to their old ways. They also spent time finding out what makes her tick and our family dynamics. Reagan is more confident. She listens and responds with first time obedience. She trusts us to remain confident and calm which enables her to remain calm. This makes not only us happy but her happy because she has clear boundaries and consistency.
