Canine Crews is truly awesome! My basset hound Walter has been going to either of their 2 locations (Bucktown and River West) for years now, and to this day he's still thrilled to play in a safe, clean environment. I dig them so much I bought one of their daycare packages, so Walter enjoys doggy daycare most days of the week. Some days I'll use their dog bus service, which shuttles him from my home to dog daycare and back again. This gives me peace of mind as it's one less thing to worry about in a day! The staff is also incredibly caring and kind, which is essential when caring for our four legged friends. Walter is always so excited to see any Canine Crews staff member, and as we all know dogs are so pure so I know that if he's excited to see them, they treat him right. The first and last time I bring my dog to canine crews. My dog was boarded there last weekend and I requested him to get bathe, ear cleaning, and nail grinding. Upon pickup I realized my dog was super dirty. He had crusty stuff in his face folds and was shedding a lot more than usual. The only thing I did notice was that they grinded his nails. I am a dog groomer and thought it would be a great experience for my dog to get groomed by someone else but unfortunately he didn't even get a service done that I paid for. I have attached a picture of how dirty his ears were as I gave him a proper bath at home the following day. I was extremely dissatisfied with what my dog went through while he was boarded. Since it was his first time he did have to take a temperament test about 2 days before he got boarded and upon pick up from there I noticed he has a small circular scratch on his muzzle and they didn't bother telling me anything. Upon pickup from boarding they told me they noticed 2 small scratches on my dogs front paws but when I looked he had the exact same wound on all 4 paws. When taken to the vet to evaluate they said it was because he was sitting in urine for too long. My dog was mistreated and they took my money without making sure I had the best experience possible. Don't waste your time or money at this place as they don't seem to care for the best interest in you or your pet. read more

Highly recommend this place for house pet-sitting services. I booked a last-minute trip during Christmas break and was desperately looking for a new cat sitter. Application process was very easy. The day before my trip I printed detailed kitty care instructions and dropped off the keys at their office. Was very surprised at how professional and caring these guys were. While I was away, they immediately replied to my texts and even sent me cute pictures and videos of my kitty (which made my day!). The litter-box was clean when I got home, his water was fresh, and feeding area was spotless. My cat showed no signs of distress upon my arrival. I have two teacup pomeranian's who attend occasional daycare here at Canine Crews. I can't tell you how comfortable I feel leaving them in the care of Canine Crews. This place is so attentive and patiently helps fulfill every request. My dogs even can get picked up from my house on a doggy transport bus, if I'm not available/home to drop them off or pick them up at daycare. Admittedly, I treat my dog as if she were my child (dog daughter?). And believe me when I say that I'm not leaving her with just anyone or just anywhere. I did my due diligence and not only does Canine Crews have a stellar reputation but in Catherine Crews, they have a very capable hands-on leader who obviously cares a great deal for every four legged patron that walks through their doors. The facility is large, has a great reception area, and includes an outdoor fenced in gravel area. I like the fact that they group dogs according to temperament so whatever your dogs speed or MO, they'll accommodate. Juno had an extended stay over Thanksgiving awhile ago and as an activity for the dogs, made a turkey paw print! We also enjoy receiving her report cards when she boards as it gives us some insight to what she was doing and if she had any specific issues (such as July 4th firework jitters). Pictures are included. Juno always returns back from her stay at Canine Crews happy and exhausted. I rest easy knowing she is in the care of such a great team of people. A+ in my book. I love this place!! Our 17 week Vizsla Kona loves coming here. He sprints to the car thinking he is going there every morning! The staff is always answering my crazy new Mommy questions. I love all the photos they post on their Facebook page. My 1st review was taken down so this is a little old. I have 2 pugs I would bring in once or twice a week. When I would pick them up my puppy was frequently in timeout. He's a sweet little boy with a ton of puppy energy- that's why I bring them to day care. I asked every time if there were issues and the girls at the counter never had an answer. The kennel cough was the final straw. My vet has told me for a year now they don't recommend this facility. Go at your own risk. read more

We love Canine Crews! When we got our rescue pup Penny we looked for a daycare facility that had no minimum days per week and were available Saturdays. Not only does Canine Crews have both of these options, but they're so easy to work with too. I've never had a problem signing Penny up for daycare, even last minute. We were worried at first she had too much energy that wouldn't be well received by the other dogs, but Canine Crews puts the pups into groups based on age and energy levels so she's able to play with the other bigger high energy pups and get all her energy out while having a chance to socialize in a well controlled environment! A tired pup is a good pup! The only thing I wish Canine Crews offered is a camera to watch the dogs play. I have no doubt they're doing a phenomenal job, I just wish I could see her playing and having a good time while she's there :) read more

Our puppy went here for for around a month. One of the draws of daycare is that your dog gets a lot of excercise and socializes with other dogs. Our puppy is an Australian Shepherd, who obviously has endless energy. That being said, he wears a "fitbark" activity monitor. It helps us understand how active he has been on any given day and to make sure he is exercised adequately so he isn't anxious and hyper at night before bed. Some days when attending daycare, he would play the entire time and be exhausted. We could confirm this by the reading given to us by the activity monitor. Other days he would hardly play at all, and be super anxious when I got there to pick him up. Obviously, based on the negative Yelp review, there were more of the bad days than good. So I understand that they can't necessarily be held responsible for the amount the puppy played on certain days, but it was the misleading information given to me when I picked him up. I always asked if he played a lot or if he was a little shy. Every day, they told me he played the entire time and was super active. The activity monitor said otherwise and we were often left with a puppy who was bouncing off the walls right before bed. Another draw of the facility is that they post Instagram stories throughout the day of all the dogs so you can see how yours is doing. Well, that's what we were told anyway. In the month that he went, he managed to make it into one Instagram story. Large and small dogs are separated and only the large ones tend to make it into their story. Seems like a pretty innocent oversight on their part, but I mentioned it on numerous occasions and it was never addressed. Again, I understand that they can't be held responsible for how much the puppy felt like playing on a given day, but it would have been nice to be told he was not active. Or if they didn't know, that's fine too. But I didn't like being told what they thought I wanted to hear to continue bringing him in. I hope everyone else has a better experience. read more

I'm really disappointed in my experience with Canine Crews this week. Previously I've had great experiences with this company but it seems they have changed their view on customer service. First, I had to call three times to even get someone on the phone who would help me as they kept asking me to call back. When I finally got someone and made my request for a cat sitter, I was told that they'd give me a call back to confirm. An entire day later, I still hadn't received a call back. When I called them for the fourth time, they let me know that they won't be providing me service. I'm so glad to have my time wasted like this. I'd think twice before making this company your go-to since they clearly are not organized and have no qualms treating the customer like garbage. read more

When I asked my dog to write a review for Canine Crews, he sighed, dropped his head and told me he didn't know how to write. Poor dude! I told him education costs in this country have skyrocketed these last few years and that I was sorry we couldn't afford a proper education- but he left me mid-sentence to go chew on his bone. From what Mr. Sake did share with me about Canine Crews, he actually got comfortable in the nine evenings he was there while his mama and daddy bounced around Puerto Rico. For those who've met my son, you know what a weirdo he can be. More like a timid and docile lap cat than a dog (with occasional flashes of squirrel, horse and perverted monkey tendencies showing face every now and then), he doesn't like normal dog activities. Hates car rides. Can't stand to be outside. REALLY hates to be outside and forced to actually walk around the neighborhood. Tends to be scared of leaves blowing in the wind. Doesn't lift his leg when he pees. The list goes on, and on. Which is why I was so impressed with Canine Crews' ability to safely integrate the little bastard (I really do adore my little boy, but he is a pain in the butt) amongst the group of other doggies. They must have done such a good job in introducing him that he actually developed dog-like characteristics. He actually learned to possess and try to keep toys from other dogs. He, for the first time ever, got bossy with other dogs in the play area. He basically learned to live amongst the pack. Now that he is back home, and back to his normal "routine" of sleeping a lot, and bouncing around when we can actually get him to move around a bit (his breed was built to lay around), we still notice some of these traits, and are glad for it. We were also really pleased to receive his "Report Card"- something so incredibly silly, yet touching and appreciated! read more

I'd like to ad an addendum do my post below: In the following weeks, Canine Crews definitely stepped up their game! I did try another daycare facility for my dog and it in no was compared to the space and staff at Canine Crews! They have called me to update me on my dogs well being a few times and it has been greatly appreciated. They know my family and my dog and have been making us feel comfortable with their care and attention! Pros: 1.My dog seems to enjoy his time there and is always tired when he comes home. 2. They email you a weekly report card with a cute picture 3. They made cute little paw paintings for mother's day. CONS: 1.They never seem to know the answer to anything and always seem to be fishing for what to say. 2. After a week of taking my dog to daycare I happened to ask when my dog was fed. Apparently telling me that they don't feed the dogs at all was not important enough for them to tell me when I signed up. 3. I asked when the last time he used the bathroom was, they didn't know. They know he was let out but didn't know if he actually went. 4. After his last visit I was getting my dog into the car and noticed a huge 3inch gash on the back of his ear. No one could explain how it happened. I pay $25 a day for them not to know why my dog has a gash and missing fur? read more

I needed a place to board my goofy pooch, Keiko (she's an akita).... I lucked out on a swoop deal & I fell completely head over heels w/ this place & so did Keiko (more like head over paws, or tail, perhaps?) I love that it's GREEN too!!!! =D Catherine is SO welcoming, & it's completely refreshing to see the "head honcho" actually hard at work & getting her hands dirty!!!! =p She's very involved & passionate about her business. She gave me & Keiko a very detailed tour (Keikz didn't really pay much attention, too busy exploring), putting my mind at ease knowing that my pup is secure & in good hands ^_^ She stayed there for 3 nights & had the time of her life!!!! There were tons of dogs there for her to roll around & play with!!!! I picked her up & she took 1 look at me & another back at Catherine & again back to me like, "We're coming back here, right?" I nodded right back at her & replied, "Ooooh yeah, Keikz.... Ooooh yeah!!!!" They also emailed me my receipt & her REPORT CARD (saving on paper, yeaaaah boyyyeeee)!!!! I love it!!!! Every time I feel that I start to have a bad day, I re-read it & it turns my whole day around =D Next time I have a day off or go on vacation, Keikz & I don't intend on going anywhere else but here. I love Canine Crews! I was really nervous about taking my new dog (rescued greyhound) to a kennel, in part because they sometimes don't do well with smaller animals. Canine Crews separates the small and big dogs (I believe they also separate the puppies too) something that not all kennel or dog daycare places do. I have taken my dog there for boarding, grooming, daycare, and their Sunday indoor bark park. All have been great and I know my dog has had a great time as evidenced by him coming home exhausted and sleeping like a rock from playing all day. I love how when your dog comes home from boarding they send a report card with pictures and details from his stay. It's adorable and makes me feel better when I have to go away to see what he's been up to. I also love how they constantly have events and special things for their dogs. For example since taking my dog for the first time back in August they have done class pictures, paw printing, open house events for the dog parents, etc. I don't have children and as corny as it sounds, my dog is like my family, so I love these things! I also feel the need to mention that the staff there are second to none. Everyone who I have spoken to or interacted with loves their job. It's not just something they do to make cash. They are friendly, personably, and love the dogs that they work with. Whenever Joker (my dog) shows up they are all greatly enthused to see him and once again it just makes me feel so much better to send him to a place that he loves going to. I would highly recommend them for all of your dog related needs. If I could send my dog there everyday to play for daycare I would, however I find that him coming in 1-2 times a week is enough for him to get his dog playtime fix. read more

Stella loves Canine Crews! We needed to find a place to board our dog while on vacation. She has always stayed with friends and family---so this was a major first for us. Our 5 year old corgi can be super extra picky when it comes to her canine playmates. But not an issue here! Stella was placed in a special playgroup with dogs just her speed....they do this with all of their dogs. And if your dog prefers humans vs dogs, canine crews will make sure your sweetness gets plenty of individual attention. Our little lady went in for her free test day (they do this with all dogs to test temperament) and came home wiped OUT. And when we took her back for her big 5 night stay she didn't even put up a fuss...she was all about it! We printed her report card and have it up on the fridge. Canine Crews even includes cute snapshots so you can see what fun your pup had. Worth the money for such a great experience. My only suggestion would be....webcams! I am that kinda dog mom. At least 5 times during our travels I said..."how cool would webcams be? i want to know what stella is up to." :) read more

We have an extremely shy rescue puppy with a serious heart condition- canine crews has been soo patient with her and attentive to her medical issues. I'm so happy to have found them! The staff is absolutely wonderful- you can tell how much they love all the dogs and they treat my dog with so much love despite how she avoids being touched and doesn't give much love back! I've only been bringing my mini doxie here for about a month for doggie daycare and boarding, but so far they seem great! All the staff seem super nice and approachable. Once I was running late and was able to call ahead and have them get my baby all ready to go for when I pulled up (and they have a loading zone out front, so easy parking!). They've got great pricing packages so they're pretty affordable when compared to all the other doggy daycares. Overall, a great addition to Humboldt. The only thing I'll say after reading a couple of the other reviews, is that I think you have to be careful as an owner and know whether or not your dog's temperament is right for doggy daycare. My baby was the runt of her litter and only weighs about 7 lbs, yet she has always tried to play rough with bigger dogs. The very first time I brought her to Canine Crews, she did get bit on the ear by a Jack Russell. When I picked her up, they explained that it was just the other dog "correcting her behavior". Since then, she has done great and has been getting along a lot better with the other dogs. She just needed to find her place in the pack, and minor injuries like that are inevitable at any doggy daycare, not just Canine Crews. read more

My pup has been here a few times. 2x for daycare, 1x for boarding. They really seem to LOVE the animals that stay with them. My only complaint is that they missed 2 of his medication doses, despite me giving the most detailed print-out, step-by-step instructions I could provide. They did offer a free night's stay to 'make it up' and acknowledged that they know how important these meds are for the health of these pups. I appreciated their concern. And every time I come back, they mention his meds- so clearly they took note. Cost is comparable with all other boarding places in the city. read more

Love this place and my dogs must love it too. They jump right into the car because I think they know they are going to boarding. They are so tired when they come home so I know they run and play a lot all day. My dogs have been boarding there for 3 months now. Never had a problem. I also love that there are no specific drop-off and pick-up times outside of the normal hours. This is soooo convenient for me! I live 7 miles away and there is another place less than 1 mile from me but will continue to take my pups here for boarding. The staff is super friendly too. They even hosted a dog meet up/happy hour after the playrooms were regularly closed. They don't have to do stuff like this but it was so nice and really fun! read more

My dogs didnt want to leave. I think Stella and Faust have claimed Catherine and her staff as their new owners! I had never boarded my dogs before and was a bit nervous. Having heard horror stories of dogs returning from boarding smelling of urine and becoming sick (terrifying)... I also was a little wary of the price... NOT AT CANINE CREWS! It is super affordable and the dogs play almost all day! They even offer a free day of daycare to assess which "doggie play group" is most suitable for your pet. Talk about attention to detail! I boarded my pups over the xmas holidays... and they offered a Venison Xmas dinner for a couple of bucks!!! How amazing is that?? It seems I will be travelling a little more frequently in the future, and now that I have found Canine Crews, I know my babies will be in good hands! read more

Just thought I would give Canine Crews some more praises because they really are awesome. On the weekends they have a play time called Bark Park. For five dollars, you can bring your dog in to play for two hours (look at their Facebook for the hours of it). On those frigid days, it is perfect to wear Berta out. Sometimes there are a lot of dogs, others times just a few, but no matter what, Berta has a great time. I'm going out of town in April and I am not the slightest bit nervous to board Berta here again because I know she is treated like the princess that she is. read more

Our goldendoodle puppy, Ziggy, started going to Canine Crews at just over 4 months old. He's almost 7 months now and he absolutely LOVES his daycare. He goes three days a week and always comes home happy and tired out. Mornings before daycare he waits patiently at the front door for me to take him to see all of his friends, and he pulls as hard as he can to the door of CC as soon as we get there :) My favorite thing about this daycare is the people--all of the employees there know Ziggy's name and greet him with excitement each morning. We get "report cards" every so often, telling us how he's been doing. During his first week, I emailed once a day to check on him (which I'm sure the busy employees were THRILLED with...sorry guys!) and always got a detailed response telling me how he was, sometimes with pictures! I know I'm a worrier, and I appreciate that I was accommodated so easily, and was never made to feel like my questions/emails were a nuisance. Good customer service. I also like that dogs aren't forced to spend time in crates here. Ziggy is crate-free, and he is allowed to nap in the playroom when he gets tired. However, CC does have crates, for dogs who allow themselves to become overtired, which is really the best of both worlds. And while I realize that it must not be fun to be a dog owner whose puppy was turned away from daycare for aggression, it really gives me peace of mind that they don't allow overly-aggressive dogs in...Ziggy is a sweet, mild-mannered little guy, and I think he's in good company at Canine Crews. read more

Just wanted to update my experience with Canine Crews. I am still in love. Our son, Neko, loves, loves this place. He has made so many friends. The report care of his visits are funny! When we do not have a scheduled day care visit, Catherine Crews will call me and tell me she has several of his friends in if he wants to come visit. How is that for service and attention to detail. I am so impressed with Canine Crews! We got a great deal from You Swoop so thought we would try CC out. It was nice that we got a free day of daycare so they could do the temperament test and so we could get familiar with the facilities. It was reassuring to know there is a separate small dog play room for our 9 lb canine daughter (which we understand isn't always the case at doggy day care/boarding places). We were initially a little weary dropping her for a few days while we vacationed in SF since this was our first time boarding her. We even called a few times to check on her and the staff was always so friendly and kind while fielding our phone calls. And it was so fun to see a photo of her on their FB page while we were away! The best part is that she came back home a better dog than when we dropped her off! She used to be such a wimp in the snow, but now that she has seen other dogs play and romp around, I think she knows it can be fun! Although she was a little stinky, that was almost expected given she was hanging out with other pups for 5 straight days. Nothing a quick bath couldn't fix. And, she didn't have any problems with diarrhea after the experience...which has been known to happen when our dog gets stressed, so I think she really liked it there. We are happy to know there is a great place in Chicago to bring our sweet dog when we vacation or when she needs to romp around with her new friends!!! read more

Canine Crews is pretty great. Catherine and her staff are super nice, and they seem to remember all of their doggie customers, including mine. Plus, they're pro-rescue and don't discriminate against certain breeds, like pitbulls or staffies. The facilities seem very well-kept, though I'm not sure what exactly makes it eco-friendly. Reservations and payments can be managed online, which makes things easy. There's usually plenty of parking out front and in the side alley -- FYI, some of the neighbors can get weird about their street parking -- and they even have a dog pickup service. Their "Bark Park" is the best, especially during colder months. Our dog always had such a blast, and it was such a treat to have a safe but fun environment for her to play with other dogs in during the winter. I just wish more people / dogs participated, and that Bark Park was offered in the summer as well. I would definitely pay a few bucks for Bark Park in the summer than take my dog somewhere like Wicker Dog Park, which gets pretty grungy and is known for its not-so-watchful or responsible dog owners. read more

My dog recently graduated the Basics class with Daphne. This training class exceeded all of my expectations. Prior to the class, I was unable to even get a down. Now, my dog consistently sits, lays, and stays despite distractions. Daphne was amazing at teaching us (the humans) approaches to commands and methods to trouble shoot. If you commit to going to the class with your dog consistently and reiterate what you learned in class throughout the week, you'll get results. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! My rescue, One Tail at a Time, sometimes boards our dogs here and my dog, Penny, comes regularly for daycare. The owner, Catherine, is a fellow rescuer and understands different dogs have different personalities and needs. Her staff are friendly and professional, the facility is always clean, and Penny always comes home pleasantly tired out. Getting Penny's report cards by email is possibly the best part of day. The pictures and descriptions are always ridiculously cute and give me a good laugh. Finally, our rescue dogs get treated like gold here.
