We just recently tried to take her to another facility, but unbeknownst to us she was removed from the system. Now the process has to start from scratch because the facility manager at Plainfield will not communicate with another facility to validate my girl. I don't want to speak ill of the situation, but my rating speaks for itself. My girl deserved better!

He was definitely in need of some structured training, and we needed some structured guidance since he is our first dog. Yeah,yeah, I know what you're thinking....why the HECK would you pick a Great Dane as your first dog!?! Anyway, we googled "doggie boot camp" and came across this group of amazing trainers. We made a quick phone call to them, gave them some details, and were contacted quickly by the trainer directly. He explained their program usually lasts two weeks, and they would focus on some of the problems we mentioned. For instance, we explained that our not-so-little puppy was behaving as puppies do, but at his size the jumping, puppy craziness, nipping, leash pulling, and not coming when we called him was starting to be a big problem. We knew if we didn't do something soon, it was going to become an even more enormous problem to deal with! Though the training was a stretch for us on our budget, we took the plunge anyway and committed to the program. A couple of weeks later we dropped Merlin off on his new adventure. The trainer gave us a tour of the facility, and set our minds at ease. In fact, within the first ten minutes Merlin was acting remarkably well behaved with his new trainer! It's no wonder the trainer was like the "dog whisperer"...the trainer explained that he has actually trained with Ceasar Milan, and they use the same training techniques. We felt very comfortable leaving him, and were soon off on our way already missing our pup. It was tough leaving him, but we happened to be going out of town during that time and knew we were leaving him in good hands. Throughout the two weeks, we got occasional updates and pictures to show his progress. Towards the end of the two weeks, we spoke with the trainer and he wanted to keep Merlin for a third week at no charge. Though we missed Merlin, we knew we picked the right trainer because it was obvious that they wanted to make sure Merlin was fully trained to their satisfaction. To be honest, I wasn't that surprised that Merlin was being a stubborn boy! When the third week was up, we finally got to the day we could pick him up! It was bitterly cold outside, but we made sure to bundle up because the trainer said we would spend a couple hours with him working with Merlin. When we got to there, Merlin saw us the window and it was clear he was excited to see his mommy and daddy! The trainer spent a long time guiding us through the techniques, and giving us tips and recommendations. It was clear that this was mommy and daddy's time to get training! Merlin was amazing, so much more mature and calm...and such a good boy! After a couple hours we got to bring him home for some major cuddle time. I honestly believe that putting Merlin through his training has enriched his and our lives. We can take him places now that we never could have before. He goes to the dog park, has walked in parades, has been in the 5k9 walk in Chicago, and everyone loves to be around him. They truly did solve all of the problems we had with him. And the most amazing thing is that my mom, who was previously afraid of dogs, now adores Merlin and is even thinking about getting a dog of her own! The best part of completing the training is that we now have a place to board Merlin when we have to go out of town. We have taken him twice for boarding, and it is great because it is basically a "refresher" on his training while they have him. The most recent time we left him there, he was actually wagging his tail and EXCITED to get there! It was like we were leaving him for his own little vacation. In fact when we got there, he ran to greet everyone and forgot mommy and daddy were even there! I cannot praise this group enough...and I will be sure to bring all of my future dogs to them for their excellent training program. My biggest recommendation is to not wait until your dog has terrible habits...bring your dog in early so that his or her life can be lived to the fullest.

Our family is amazed at ONE day of training being so effective! As a puppy, she is rambunctious and full of energy, and as a breed she is stubborn and incredibly strong - we are very pleased with how one day of training has improved some basic skills such as sit, heel, stay, etc. while supporting basic skills like not jumping up. I have only used the boarding services with K9 Guardians twice and we won't be back…read more I honestly thought the first time was fine, I have two dogs a husky and German shepherd and I know they can be a lot to deal with at times being high energy working breeds. Yesterday was the second time I picked my dogs up after a 4 day stay. My husky had speckles of urine all over his white face and down his chest. My shepherds fur was all crusty on his stomach, as if he'd been lying in urine and had feces in the fur around his butt. They both stunk and felt grimy to the touch..these are show dogs and I am a professional groomer, meaning I normally bathe them every 2 weeks, so for them to come home like this after 4 days, I was disgusted. I check over both dogs once we were home and both had a dry nose and deeper red gums that were very dry, indicating dehydration. They went straight for the water and drank about a bowl each. They make you pay before getting your pet, if I would've seen them I wouldn't have paid for such poor service. This bordered on animal abuse and I won't be leaving my pets in their care, or lack there of, again! Just to note: Before my dogs stayed the first time I asked for a tour so they showed me the back kennel area and dog run section. The "day camp" dogs are in VERY small kennels (maybe 3x3 I'm not sure) and they keep their prong collars on them while kenneled. This to me is a safety hazard but I'm not certain if boarders are handled the same way. Boarders are in larger kennels I think 6x6 or 6x9 but the runs are just large enough for them to pee and move around some. Outside of that pets are not exercised, unless you pay an additional $50 a day for training... and thats supposed to be 15 minutes of training an hour....Not a walk or actually exercise activity

The convenient Wheaton location of the facility is great for daycare and they also allow for half-day daycare too. Very flexible scheduling. When I pick my dog up, I can tell that she's received personalized attention from the staff and that she has been well cared for. Often she's been able to work one-on-one with a staff member for nearly all of her half-day session. We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. The in home training we did originally was incredibly valuable to get us started on the right foot. We need to do that again very soon! Is it the least expensive daycare and/or training in the area? Tony says he was trained by world renowned dog trainer Dr. Helmut Raiser who's RSV2000 kennel club is currently under review from being expelled from the VDH (German Kennel Club). Dr. Raiser has published many books but is formally trained in dentistry - dog training was a hobby that he turned into a career. I am not aware of any formal schooling that Tony has had. Tony will throw a bunch of fancy terms and accomplishments but never provided me with any of the documentation - he was on Oprah and consulted with Michael Vick's dogs. Couldn't find anything to back that up from my research. If you care for your dog, please don't sign a contract that releases someone from gross negligence with your dog. I hope no one has to see what I had to see and have to lose their dog.
