    A cubano sandwich
    Eugene M.

Just visited canella's... the good: clean place. Plenty space. The bad: not Italian enough. They have some items, but does not have the true Italian delicatessen feel. I believe they to introduce the concept to the neighborhood, but for them to classify themselves as a truly, Italian deli needs some work. And now, for the ugly: the ambience, the foods flavor, it doesn't promote a true Italian deli. Decided to try something new in their menu, and this case, is the cubano sandwich. and I kid you not, it's a good sandwich. But it's not a Cuban sandwich. Replacing roast pork, with sorpresatta does not make for the flavor. To the point to discourage me from trying one of those desserts. With fear of being disappointed That's not up to par to an Italian deli restaurant.

The food here is extremely fresh and very tasty. I'm very picky when it comes to eating out but I know I'm getting good quality food whenever I eat at Cannella's.

I was craving a cheesesteak, and knew that I would be in the Perry Hall /Nottingham/ White Marsh area on Wednesday to do some Christmas shopping with my mom at Target. So I used Yelp to find a place nearby that sold what I was looking for... The menu reminded me a lot of DiPasquali's, so I was pretty excited to check it out. We arrived around noon and every single table was taken - except for one that was labeled as "saved" or "reserved." Personally I was totally ready to sit there anyway, but my mom walked away as I was speaking to her (she does that a lot. She is a wet noodle and can't comprehend taking charge of a situation, and she can't imagine that her disabled daughter would have more of a backbone than she does), so we stood awkwardly around the front door for about 15 minutes, while we waited for our order to be ready. Then she decided to ask some random couple if they would share their table with us. They were kind enough to agree, so we did get a table, but like 10 minutes later the entire place emptied out and we had our choice of all the tables. We ordered quite a bit of food, and two of our sandwiches came out topped any old way, not at all the way that we had requested. I ordered a cheesesteak with mayo, grilled onions, hots (and cheese, of course) and it came with everything. Normally I wouldn't care, but I promised to share the sandwich with my boyfriend and he WILL NOT eat anything with lettuce on it. That's why we made sure to say we didn't want lettuce. They made us a new sandwich, and gifted us some fries too. It was a decent sandwich, but I have had MANY better cheesesteaks that didn't require this much effort to get correct. I'm an idiot because I didn't check the other sandwich my boyfriend ordered for later - an Italian cold cut. We didn't realize until we got home that it also had lettuce on it and he refused to eat it. Thankfully, I have no such hatred of lettuce on a sandwich so I will eat it sometime this weekend, but he was quite crestfallen when he discovered the... lack of interest of the staff in making sandwiches as ordered. Seriously, there's no reason to do this to customers, and after reading other reviews I see that this happens often. I also had some of their tortellini salad, but it didn't taste like much. It had celery, which I never associated with an Italian pasta salad. It was beautiful, but in my opinion everything that we ordered could have used a bit of salt, including the free fries. My mom had some kind of Italian cold cut. There are several of these on the menu, and since I wasn't at the register when they ordered I'll never know the proper names of the sandwiches they got. She only ate about a quarter of the sandwich because it was so stuffed and massive. She also had fried zucchini which was so delicious (with ranch dipping sauce). The zucchini was possibly my favorite item of the afternoon. Besides the abortive Italian cold cut (that was not the same as the one my mom got) my boyfriend ordered, he also got the The Porketta (Kaiser - $8.50 Sub - $11.50 : Roasted Italian pork loin sliced thin, then grilled to perfection with melted provolone, tomato and red onions and dressed with our signature oil & vinegar and grated cheese dressing) which was freaking AMAZING, and the reason why he doesn't harbor any resentment towards this establishment which clearly doesn't care much about satisfying its customers. Picky eaters this place probably isn't for you. People who get anxious when there aren't any available tables, this place probably isn't for you. It was decent enough, but we'll never return. There are too many delis, take out places, sub shops, etc to return to one that didn't care enough about us to make dining at their establishment seamless.

When I pulled up, I thought the place was empty or closed. Once I got inside it was the cutest little place. They offer an array of authentic Italian dishes and desserts. The subs were good and they were able to make alterations to them. Service was nice and you can sit and eat inside as well. Will be going back for sure!

We've passed Cannella's many times and finally got around to giving them a try. Pickup only for now and ordering was quick and easy. They have a good selection of homemade pasta dishes and marinated veggies in the display case as well I saw some Tiramisu. A good variety of subs, hot/cold hoagies, paninis, wraps, homemade entrees & soups of the day. The Arancini was just made so we got the Spinach. It was amazing! Perfect ratio of spinach and cheese and one of the best I've had. A must try! For Hoagies, ordered the Soprano (didn't see on latest menu but was excellent with the Chianti Dressing), the Porketta was also tasty and has won a best of Baltimore award. The Grilled chicken Asiago wrap didn't disappoint! The Azzurri was full of tasty marinated veggies-we added Prosciutto. Service was excellent! From recommending menu items to just an overall upbeat & "we appreciate you" approach to customers. One of a few gems in the Perry Hall (Bel Air Rd.) area!

The attitude alone from behind the register is enough for me. Plenty of other options. The Old world sub doesn't quiet live up to the name.

It is a very unassuming carryout/dine-in deli. They do a healthy carryout business. The menu is loaded with goodness. Everything sounded like something you'd love to sample. The young man at the register could not have been more helpful and told us what the most popular item was... the cheesesteak sub. He said his personal favorite was the MD Crab Grilled Cheese. It has a blend of 4 cheeses, lump crab meat, and Old Bay Aioli. I knew I had to try it. They are generous with the crabmeat! I got it with a mixed whole grain bread. Out of this world delicious. I could only finish half. In the past, I have had versions of this that were greasy, not so with this 1. My husband opted for the large size Mobtown Classic sub. It was enormous, well stuffed. And when they say well stuffed, they mean it in the truest sense of the word. The sub roll was nice and fresh. He had them brown it, so it would be less wet. Half of that went home. All in all, it was delightful. Really good food and plenty to enjoy later. Dine in is limited, only 3 tables. Cold Coke beverages are available. We will be back.

The service here was friendly and welcoming. Ordering was simple enough. I got a turkey and pit beef sandwich and it was soo amazing. The pit beef was juicy and not dry at all, the turkey also well seasoned and juicy. Sandwich was a good size and filled me up.
