My daughter was in charge of picking a lunch spot near where we were going shopping, and she chose this place based on the great Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, our experience didn't quite match up to the hype. She picked up the spaghetti and meatballs from the table, but there was no way to reheat it at the store. Not a big deal since they gave us extra sauce which was warm. As for me, I went with the chicken Caesar wrap and asked for the dressing on the side. The wrap was seriously lacking in flavor and contents, which was a real disappointment. On the plus side, the staff was very nice and friendly, but sadly, that wasn't enough to make up for the lackluster food. We won't be back. read more

I wanted a while to post this review because I wanted to come back and give them a try before posting, it's been over a month and I haven't made it back yet so here goes it. I had a taste for an Italian cold cut, when I got there the gentleman behind the counter told me they just made the "Muffalettini" sandwiches so I went on and tried it. The Muffalettini has homemade olive salad, salami, capicola, pepperoni, mortadella, smoked mozzarella and sharp provolone on Vienna bread. It all sounds delicious but fell very flat to me. I've had better olive spread from a regular grocery store, the bread was extremely hard and the over all sandwich was so dry! I wouldn't get this again but I would like to visit again and try the Italian Sub. read more

Hard to believe I've passed Pastore's so many times. Finally stopped in on a Thursday before lunch. You get the wonderful aroma that true old world Salumerias/delis have as soon as you walk in. They have a small grocery area with cold and frozen specialities (sauce, meatballs, lasagna, cheese, etc.) Also, non perishables-canned/jarred food and of course a full deli that includes a good selection of specialty salads. We ordered 3 subs/sandwiches to try and share. The Meatball Parmesan Sub was amazing! (Melted Provolone is the way to go!). Loved the tomato sauce mixed with the melted provolone and the meatballs were on point! (Reasonably priced at under $7) The Italian cold cut Gonzo (1/2) was one of the best cold cuts we've had. (Order it as is with all the condiments). The combo of the fresh Italian Sub bread (Maranto!), meats/cheese and toppings are perfect! The Muffalettini was enjoyed also. The olive spread & smoked mozzarella take it over the top. (A little bit of NOLA on Loch-raven.) Service was fast and friendly. A family owned hidden gem! I used to come here a lot when I was in college because their subs are SO GOOD. It's been 5 years since Iv been here, but the taste is still as amazing as it was back then. I ordered the Italian cold cut (make sure to get everything on it!) It has Genoa salami, capicola, prosciuttini, mortadella, and provolone cheese. This place doesn't just sell subs, but they have a large variety of different things to buy. The service is quick and fast if you just walk in, but if you don't want to wait in line, you can call your order in and come pick it up. The parking can be tricky because it's right on a main street ,but there is parking in front of the building. If you can find a spot, you can park around the corner read more

There is a company that prides itself on its "freaky fast subs". Apparently they have never been here. It's ridiculous to claim such a title in the presence of such master's of sandwich efficiency. I parked my car, put money in the meter, went in and ordered a turkey sub, got the sub, and paid for it, and only 1 number had dropped off of the digital meter. So it took under 2 minutes, total. They mean business here. Gonna go back soon for some general Italian cooking items...and another freaky fast sub, because that was a pretty good turkey sub. I know I am beginning to sound like a broken record, but you cannot beat the taste of Maranto bread. Whenever we are having a party that revolves around anything Italian, my first call is always to Pastore's to order Maranto bread. It is that good and an Italian meal would not be good without it. The bread is freshly baked right here in Baltimore. It has a hard crust with a soft interior - it is just perfect. And, the bread freezes well. So, we always buy an extra loaf, cut it up and put it in the freezer so we can have a slice or two with any meal. This Italian deli is so good!!! Don't let the look of the sandwich fool you. It may look plain but it isn't! I ordered the Italian Sub and the Parmesan pasta salad...and oh my gosh!! First bite and you already know this is going to go well. You can tell the bread is homemade and super fresh as well as the meats! The meats were something else!! So delicious and only for a little over $6 for the sandwich. The service was quick and the store owners were kind. Will come again! I cannot WAIT to come back here! Small little shop. At first we drove right past it and had to park on the next street. As you walk in you immediately see the grocery section. I saw the largest container of sandwich hits I've ever seen! The Italian Cold Cut is the way to go. And for $6.50, getting one of the best cold cuts I've had, no complaints here. I asked for everything on it and forgot to say "no hots" but it really wasn't bad. Typically I am a pansy but I could handle this. If you really like spicy, I'd ask for extra hots. Also, we forgot to add on oil + vinegar! There's mayo, so it wasn't dry. And the bread is so fresh so every bite was great. But next time I'll add oil + vinegar. Every employee was so friendly - it has the feel of a family business. I gotta try the meatball sub next time, I saw multiple reviews saying that was good too. Perfect stop before heading over to Cromwell Valley or Loch! *we also left with a loaf of bread and ate half of it plain just by ripping off pieces before we even got to our lunch spot. I'm one of the old guys coming here since college. My favorites have changed over the years as I learned to try new foods. Everything is great. Especially the Italian sub. I think the owners are successful because they only carry the finest ingredients for everything. The sub rolls are different. Perfect. I'm now addicted to the gourmet chicken salad sub with their homemade olive salad topping. My wife's new favorite is the meatball parmesan sub. Besides this authentic Italian deli, we buy their prepared meals from the cold case and just discovered the bags of homemade meatballs in the freezer. Pastore's is hands down the best deli. From the bread to the spreads, they know what they're doing. They use green olives on the subs which I love. And I always fall victim for their homemade cookies. The store is filled with Italian staples - including my hard-to-find favorite lupine beans. Do yourself a favor and grab a cannoli. They'll fill it right there in front of you and you'll be in heaven once you get it home. Stock up on their meatballs and sauce for a BANGIN' pasta dinner. I first visited Pastore's Deli over 40 years ago, when I lived in Towson. I'll never forget getting an Italian for the first time, with the green olives. It was like taking a bite from heaven. Loaded with meats and cheeses, it just deserves more than 5 stars. I just stopped by today, drove 6 miles out of my way and found that the quality of Pastore's has not diminished, not one bit. I was a little disappointed. I did buy the large Italian coldcut (The Gonzo) and it was decent, just not as good as I remembered when my dad used to bring them home. Back then, they were great. The real problem was their spinach lasagna (frozen). I heated it up and gave it a try and it was horribly bland, watery, and had a strange off-putting taste I couldn't identify, and didn't really want to identify. Basically, the worst lasagna I've ever had from an Italian establishment. It was expensive too, so that made it all that much worse. If you're going to make people pay for it, at least put out a good product. You could do worse, but you could also do better. I won't be returning anytime soon. Avoid the lasagna! read more

I've been craving a fresh Italian cold cut with the works since November of last year. AND a half "muffelatini which is their best kept secret. You don't want a freshly made one. You want it to be about 36 hours old for the full flavor experience. In regards to the muffalotta. You want your Italian cold cut cut fresh. There is not a place in Towson or surrounding areas that make a sub the way these guys do. It's freaking magical. Kept telling myself "we're busy This week we'll stop by next week". Next thing I know we're in a lockdown. Of course as soon as I knew I couldn't even place a preorder? Is the exact moment my cravings went awol. If only I had known what day of the week it is. My poor belly had not accepted the fact and my tastebuds are straight up rioting currently. My only complaint about Pastores is that they are not open on Sundays or Mondays. Sunday I get.
