I appreciate the reliably good food and service at Chestnut Ridge . I always go when I am working in the area. My favorites are their cheesesteak, chicken and bacon sandwich , wings , salads and pizza ! They also make gluten free pizza to order. I like that they carry Taharka brothers ice cream and other local snacks. Yes the prices are a little higher but it's a convenience mark up you find in smaller grocery stores. 9 out of 10 times they deliver the goods. Always have been a fan but this time around they went a little weak on the steak meat. Not sure if they are feeling the pinch, cutting corners, or just an off day. Hope they can deliver their normal top notch steak sandwich next time I visit. read more

Local market with gourmet food, prepared meals, kid oriented quick meals. As a local I'm here a lot. If you have 30 minutes go for the cheese calzone. Pizza is good fresh, otherwise would,skip it. General Tso's chicken is a bit tough. Empanadas are great. I haven't tried the açaí bowl. Lots of sodas to,choose from. Breakfast bagels are great. This place does a good job. read more

Had a family gathering and needed something quick and easy. This is always a go to as the food is great and it is locally owned. Ordered old bay wings and pizzas. The wings were big and delicious, a huge hit with the family! As soon as we opened the pizza we could tell how good it was. My brother in law even said it looked like somebody took their time making this, verses the thrown together pies of other establishments. Definitely will use them again! read more

I've always been a fan of the pizza, the rest is OK. However, they could use some customer service improvement. There have been several times, the most recent is today, when I walk in and wait in the order area and no one acknowledges me. 3 employees were standing in front of me and could even make eye contact or let me know they were aware of my existence in any way. I drive by this cute market all the time and always heard great things! However, my experience was not the best. The food was just ok. I am gluten free so asked for my sandwich without bread and was given an attitude from who was helping us. The fried chicken was just ok my husband said and I had heard their pizza was great and he said it was just ok also. I think my biggest complaint was the attitude and unfriendliness of who was helping us and that's why we haven't and won't be back. read more

I am a long time customer that feels as though I have been let down. I am a contractor that arrived looking for lunch at 10:30am. I attempted to order an entire pizza. I was told no pizza until 11am. That would of been acceptable if it were not for the fact they was making pizzas at that moment. I asked if they were making pizzas why could I not get one? I was told we have to make these pizzas for walk in customers. Ok, As A business owner I can't say I understand losing a definite sale to a potential sale. But that's the logic here. read more

When I am in this area, this is my go to lunch spot. Delicious deli sandwiches with fresh meats and fresh breads. Their pizzas are absolutely delicious. My personal favorite which isn't always sitting out is the "Steves pizza". The Steves Pizza consist of cheese, sausage, and alot of stringy onions. If I don't see it sitting there and if I'm not in too big of a hurry, i'll ask them to make one up which takes about 10 minutes . Great stuff! They also have a have some good desserts. Should be no more than $1.29. At least I wasn't gouged on Utz pre-priced bags. $5.74 for three items? To be fair, this is a visually appealing, upscale store with chic cuisine that was a lowly dank country store some years ago when I traversed the area delivering Sunpapers. Apparently $$ is no object to the retailer and the demo served. That's fine.Perhaps I'll try some food items in the future and experience an epiphany of sorts. I had a business appointment at a private residence a few miles from Chestnut Ridge Market. I noticed the place, which just looked "right" as I drove by before the appointment. I had already eaten lunch, but thought maybe I'd stop back by after my business was done to see if they had anything good. This is quite a way off the beaten path and I figured it could be really something special... or not so much. I'm a risk taker! My appointment was with a local resident who had great things to say about Chestnut Ridge Market--especially the pizza. Good pizza is always worth stopping for, so the plan was set. I also had an evening appointment scheduled, so a slice on the way would be good since I wasn't going to be eating a regular dinner. Plus, my wife didn't want to cook herself dinner because she wasn't feeling well. I walked into Chestnut Ridge Market and quickly realized I would be saving the day for my wife (not uncommon...that's how I roll--she'll tell you). Everything from Pot Stickers to Home Made Meatloaf and quite a lot more filled a 12 foot case right there in front. There were also some baked goods, but I was fixated on the food! The pizza did look great, but I decided to go for the Pot Stickers. I took a Meatloaf home and set it all up for her before my late appointment. Yes, I'm rad. I know. Also, I just finished the meatloaf. It's comparable to my Mom's, which is better than your Mom's. Just sayn! ;-) Chestnut Ridge Market is well worth the stop. Chestnut Market is not only the best little market with great service, and fantastic food, but is one of the most valuable assets to the Greenspring Valley Community. I just finished eating a Veal Parmesan worthy of a fine Italian restaurant. They have all of the necessities such as Berger cookies, milk, eggs, ice cream, salad bar, challah, cheese steaks right out of Philly, pizza straight out of NYC.
