We had dinner at the Canoe Club and the food was great. My wife had the Miso sea bass and I had the wagyu strip steak. Everything was cooked to perfection. We had a great server and food came out on a reasonable time. Nothing to complain about. Will definitely be going back. read more

Great spot for a romantic evening for two or a special occasion with friends. Looks our on the water in Palmetto Bluff and has stunning views. Great ambiance inside, made to feel like the luxurious inside of a canoe (hence the name). Came here with another couple and were seated out on the patio to watch the waterway and enjoy the great weather. Our server was amazing and has been with the restaurant for several years, and had a great understanding of the menu/specials/drinks/wine pairings. The dinner was expertly paced and everything was great. Only got pictures of our sushi appetizer but everything was perfect. Menu changes with the seasons/ chef interest so it is different but we got the red snapper, lambs chop, wagyu steak, oysters, and the sushi. No one had any complaints and we were not rushed when we finished our meals and stayed for another drink. Great experience for fine dining. read more

Surprised the reviews aren't higher because we loved our NYE tasting menu at the Canoe club! The menu was designed as a surf and turf. There were 5 courses - fried oyster + fried chicken, clams and pork belly, filet + lobster, tuna + foie gras, scallop and Lamb, and a chocolate tart with an edible orchid flower. We loved all of the dishes and were surprised how large the servings were. When I say we can eat, we can EAT. And these servings were too much to finish on a tasting menu without over eating. I brought home most of my filet and lobster and we also brought home one of the chocolate tarts and tried the other in the restaurant. We had an IPA to cool off from our walk to the canoe club and then glasses of Sancerre with the meal. Our waiter was awesome and the bartender was entertaining as well. The Canoe club at Montage palmetto bluff is definitely a destination for you who loves fine dining. I stayed at the Montage for 3 nights and never been able to make a reservation. The concierge told me to just walk in and sit at the bar which was the right decision because you can order everything and you can meet the wonderful bartender "Paul" he is one of the most talented and skillful bartender. His drinks were absolutely amazing . I ordered the blood orange margarita with the salt rim, the May river royals and the chocolate decadence, absolutely the drinks you shouldn't missed. I suggest to sit at the bar and look how good Paul is . We had the Wagu steak and the Bass with bokchoy, absolutely marvelous. Don't even have to talk about the most famous crab beignets and the oyster which was absolutely nothing to compare. We really had a good time. I would say it was one of the best dinner of my life. If you visit Montage Palmetto Bluff, make sure you come to the Canoe Club restaurant, you will love it. read more

Best spicy margarita for miles. Great service and delicious food (the smoked salmon starter, gnocchi entre and scallops were standouts) but the inspired cocktails from Paul the bartender, are what keeps us coming back. His custom simple syrups are dynamic and his sophisticated flavor profiles are extremely dialed in (don't miss the easy-drinking bourbon "Lift" or his robust spicy marg). Sit-Down Dining Review The Canoe Club, a restraint part of the Montage Palmetto Bluff resort, is located right on the lagoon waterways. The dining area doesn't seat that many people but has high ceilings, a unique bar, interesting nautical designs. Furthermore, outdoor dining is available on their screened-in balcony that overlooks the May River. Overall, the dining area is well put together which excels the overall dining experience. The restaurant's menu features a lot of coastal cuisines including shrimp, oysters, and grouper. The seafood comes fresh from the May River area which you can see while dining. Also, Canoe Club partners with local farms to source fresh beef, poultry, and vegetables. Having a lot of negative reviews on Yelp ha e me a weary feeling about the food but that quickly changed with my appetizer. The crab beignets and tuna poke were an excellent start to the meal; unfortunately, the portion sizes were not ideal. A similar story from the entree, the spicy Berkshire pork tasted great but still left you hungry. Despite this, a very cool restaurant with fitting designs, unique touches, and great coastal cuisine. We visited the Canoe Club to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was incredible and made a recommendation to try the Cobia dinner which was excellent. My husband had the gnocchi and added chicken to it. He said it was the best gnocchi he's had and I would have to agree. read more

Excellent service! The staff was very attentive. The food was very good. The 2 types of bread were awesome. We had the poki tuna appetizer with amazing flavor. And the crab beignets were filled with a ton of crabs. Everyone else in my party loved their food. They all got some type of seafood dish. I should have, The paella is just ok. The view from the patio can't be beat but this is the low country and they have bug spray on the deck. I would throw some on before eating on the deck. read more

We have been coming to Palmetto Bluff for about 10 years. The food was formerly acceptable but now is the worst it's ever been. Ordered the Bronzino or European Sea Bass which was mushy. My wife ordered some Indonesian dish which she couldn't finish because it tasted so bad. The portions are small and the bill now about 30% higher than it used to be. We also tried Buffalo's 2 nights in a row. Food unhealthy... fried flounder and potato chips one night and oily cheese and chicken casserole the next night. We tried the margarita pizza another night and it looked nothing like a margarita pizza it had tons of extra cheese and not enough tomato sauce I called and left a message for the food and beverage manager of the resort to discuss with him. He never called me back. We would never even come here, since there are much better restaurants in Bluffton however they are 20 minutes away. read more

Not only is the scenery overlooking the May River stunning, the inside of the restaurant, modeled after an inverted, wooden canoe, is lovely. The menu is limited, but changes weekly. The food generally is good, but much more expensive than warranted by what you get, which maybe should be no surprise at Palmetto Bluff. read more

This was the first time in our lives my wife and I have had to send a meal back. She ordered the salmon, which was served over spinach and shitake mushrooms. The sauce was beyond salty. It tasted like pure soy sauce. She told the waiter who took it back without any apology and then he came back with the dish. It was the same piece of salmon and rests looked like it has been rinsed out and then heated up. My snapper/low country boil was salty too and small in portion. Totally not worth the money at all. Phenomenal. The food is amazing, ambience is great, and the service is impeccable. We were initially seated outside, but we requested that we sit inside because a thunderstorm was beginning to occur. They said the rain wouldn't touch the tables, given the architecture, but we were more comfortable sitting inside. They graciously accommodated our request. The pasta dish was one of the best I've EVER had, and my brother said the same (my brother being a person who has eaten at about 75 percent of the Michilin restaurants in the world). They helped us celebrate a few special family occasions as well. Truly wonderful experience. I guess you would expect that, given that the restaurant is in one of the nicest resorts in the US, but the other restaurants in the resort are not as good on any level.
