Sea Grass Grille delights family (mid-week dinner review)! I learned of this restaurant from a bartender the night before who gave it a great review and recommendation. The family was looking to head out to dinner the next day so I called and was able to get a reservation for 6 people at 7pm! We showed up and were promptly seated. Soon after we were given water and had a few minutes to go over the menus. My brothers and I were feeling expresso martinis and the waitress said they can absolutely make them. For appetizers, we tried the bang bang shrimp and the bacon wrapped scallops. For mains, I went with prefix menu and enjoyed she crab soup, calamari, NY strip, and mahi mahi. The appetizers were done very well but the bang bang shrimp was better. Also the scallops are $18 for just 2 scallops. The prefix menu is the way to go especially if you want to try a few different things. The chef even came out to talk to us and after learning one of prefix items was out, he went above and beyond to replace the item with something better. Plus the expresso martinis were on point (no Bailey's). I would definitely return to Sea Grass Grille! read more

This was our first time trying this restaurant. We had not trouble finding it or getting parking. We started our meal with the she-crab soup which was creamy and delicious. We really enjoyed it. Both of us had the Willie's Cluckin' Good Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich had a lot less flavor than the accompanying french fries which was disappointing. We would have enjoyed the sandwich more if the same level of flavor that we experienced in the soup and fries was replicated with the chicken breast. Our server Chris was very friendly. The ambiance was subdued which was exactly what we wanted. About 1/3 of the tables were occupied when we were there. read more

Sea Grass Grille in front of Palmetto Dunes was a fitting finale to our vacation. Food: Two nicely prepared cuts of mahi mahi with scalloped potatoes and other veggies. Moist and yet easy on the fork. Also, house favorite tomato pie slice with the same sides. Both came with fresh bread and a tasty chopped salad. A rarity these days. Extras: A slice of key lime pie with a Saltine cracker base (didn't work for us -- but we finished it). Service: excellent. Polite, friendly and always ready to help. Plus: they take reservations. Ambiance: Another local favorite we'd yet to try but close to our condo. We'd go back. A little old looking but very comfortable. Low noise level. read more

First visit for Sunday brunch was awesome!! We each had crepes( even gluten free available for crepes and pancakes). Ours were each yummy: ABC( avocado, bacon, cheddar and egg) for me a "swamp loggers " egg, bacon, cheddar and potatoes for starters. Friendly and fast service. Intimate setting! Each time we have eaten here the food has been really good. The service has been hit or miss for us, but on our last visit we had very good service. We generally make a reservation because it can get really busy during high season. Not the place to come if you are looking for great island views, but if you are looking for good food, this place should be on your list. read more

For the last 30 years we've wanted to find a top notch brunch on island. One that was designed and prepared by a true chef and not a short order cook. Today we found the Sea Grass Grille. We arrived late morning on a Saturday and were greeted immediately for our drink order. This is a real restaurant not a breakfast joint and has VERY reasonable prices. I ordered the "Fork & Knife" which was an omelet filled with cheese and bacon surrounded by two large pieces of french toast. It had blueberries, strawberries and an orange slice on the side with a good amount of maple syrup. It was fantastic. My wife had the Blueberry Baked Oatmeal with yogurt and berries. It looked like a large pieces of cake. She loved every bite. We will be back to try lunch and dinner very soon. read more

Went here to enjoy dinner with family after a wonderful day. Unfortunately upon entry we were completely ignored as if we did not exist. When my husband verbally and respectfully reached out to the young lady at the front, she looked us up and down and walked away... As retired military, I would have asked to speak to management but realized I did not want to subject my extended family to unnecessary confrontation. So we gladly left. I highly recommend management address the customer service skills of those that represent the restaurant. First impressions are extremely important and this restaurant is doing a discredit to themselves by providing selective professionalism. read more

Dinner is a must at Sea Grass Grille. If Yelp had a six star option this would be it. We had a reservation and we were seated in a lovely corner table. The ambiance is quaint and intimate and overall lovely. All five of us raved about our meals and inquired if they served lunch as we all wanted to return. This was one of the best dinners I have experienced. I ordered scallops and they were nestled in a beautiful cream sauce. Dinner came with baby carrots, green beans and broccoli and a slice of scalloped potatoes. The veggies were cooked perfectly. They were crisp and cut up in nice size pieces. Dinner was also served with a wonderful salad and dinner rolls. One of my friends ordered the she crab soup and shared a few spoons with me. The lump crab was plentiful and the creaminess of the soup was perfectly smooth. The hint of sherry was evident. They also ordered a slice of tomato pie which was flavorful. The tomatoes were fresh and the cheese was delicious. Our server Harriett was friendly and attentive. She took her time explaining the menu to us and she told us about the new owners and we met the owner who was very nice. Overall, I highly recommend this location for dinner. read more

There is a new place for weekend brunch on Hilton Head and it is special! The Sea Grass Grill on William Hilton Parkway has reopened (last fall) with new ownership. And this is a family affair that works beautifully. The menu is new and puts the usual suspects (bacon, eggs, potatoes) in great combinations. There is something for everyone, including Mimosa's. I had the Breakfast Hash and it was wonderful. We lingered over breakfast and wound up trying two desserts; the carrot cake and the key lime pie were exceptional. We sat outside on the lovely patio but the inside is very well appointed. The sort of place you would want to go to for dinner. And their dinner menu looks fantastic with seafood options that look awesome. We have not been there for dinner but are planning to try it before leaving the island. The owners, Heather and Kirk, and very personable so if they're not too busy with other customers, they will engage you in a conversation. They're girls, Allie and Gianna are the servers and the place runs pretty darn smoothly. Tomato pie. I dream about this when I'm not here. Listed as an appetizer, I think it makes a perfect entree. And followed by any of their delicious desserts, I leave stuffed. Service id very good, and prices are in line for this level of dining. I've been told Bill and Hillary always dine here while in town, but I've never seen them here. May be local lore. read more

They have some nice round tables. Service is top drawer with a great staff. They take reservations. The food is the hit & why you should go. The prices are reasonable. Flounder meunière & Grouper Piccata are OUTSTANDING with 2 nice sides. Start with Bang Bang shrimp. The breast of duck is also the best duck around. My husband and I wanted to enjoy a good seafood dinner as it was our first time in HH. After reading many reviews, we settled on Sea Grass Grille, but ended up disappointed with that decision. The ups...good service, good bread, and the salad was decent. Entrees on the other hand were not so good. I ordered the spa salmon. I am no chef, but IMO if the fish is good, it needs very little done to it. The salmon was overcooked and any salmon flavor was covered by sauce and the corn flake crust. It was ok, but not something I would order again although I love Scottish salmon. The potatoes and asparagus looked reheated, overcooked and tasted bland. My husband ordered the chefs tasting menu. He had the brussel sprouts, mahi mahi, NY strip and beignets. The sprouts were pretty good but undercooked per my husbands liking. The server did not ask how he wanted his steak cooked and it came out well done. The "crispy onions" on top were not crispy at all and looked very sad, brown and soggy. Just like the salmon, the mahi mahi was overdressed in sauce. He was also served the scalloped potatoes and asparagus which looked the same as mine. My husband said the beignets were pretty good. Just another note, my husband used the restroom which he said seemed to be located in a utility closet. He stated that for a more expensive restaurant, you would and should expect the bathrooms to be nicer. Although the meal was edible, for almost $100 dinner, it was over priced and a big let down. I was able to be seated right away and I couldn't wait to relax and enjoy my dinner. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating and they really made the visit great. They went above and beyond, I really can't overstate how wonderful they were. I went all out and treated myself. I started off with some bread and butter. I then ordered the daily special French helix escargot. These came with pesto and a puff pastry. For my entree I got a steak with veggies and scalloped potatoes. The food was okay, I was really hoping for a lot better with it. The best thing was the scalloped potatoes, those were really nicely done and they made a great bite. Overall great experience! This is a solid neighborhood spot that seems to be favored by locals more than tourists. They were able to get us in on a busy evening when we could not get a table at another restaurant and were quite friendly about it. Try any of the seafood options, which all seem to be a safe bet. Harriet , our server, was a delight and really shared her knowledge and enthusiasm for our menu. Attentive, but not intrusive, we loved meeting her. That said, the food was even more impressive. We all had items from the price fixe menu and all were thrilled with our choices: shrimp, lamb chops, shrimp etc. The risotto was rich and creamy, but the big bell ring as to how fabulous the meal was, revolved around the vegetables. Undoubtedly the worst food in Hilton head.The servers are decent,but I rather not sit so close to other tables,overheard some of the most tasteless conversations.The deviled eggs are terrible ,extremely cold with no seasoning except maybe mustard.Then the chicken parmesan was burnt and overcooked on one end and cold on the other.I myself had the flounder,it seemed to be a frozen flounder left out to thaw then microwaved ,it was soggy and flavorless ,like eating a hot wet napkin,everything was saturated in oil on my plate .It was so bad my husband and I ,politely took a bite and decided to leave ,they asked us why we hadn't ate and insisted on giving to go boxes,we still tipped 20$ ,but the 90 $ for the meal was a complete waste. read more
