Had a fabulous experience picking berries! Extremly friendly and kind staff. The blueberry bushes are beautiful and obviously very well cared for AND not sprayed with pesticides. We had an awesome time! So many beautiful ripe berries ready for picking. It's $3.25 a pound. "Eat as much as you want" they urge you several times. There are many shady areas to pick from and a nice cool shady area in front of their little inside store for the pickers that need a break. I brought the toddler nephews who weren't much help picking. But the staff treated them like they were their own family. The kids played and I picked. It was a nice afternoon activity with a built in fresh snack. The grounds were gorgeous and extremely well maintained. Gorgeous flowers everywhere. Bonus: The owners never use pesticides on the berries. The Buckets are sanitized after each use and the staff show you the best picking areas when you arrive. We will definitely be back. read more

This family run farm has been letting people pick their berries for 68 years. They are kind and welcoming! Since their bushes are older, the varieties are considered classic. You are escorted and assigned a row based on what is ripe and ready, so we only got to try one kind. Our row was bursting with jerseys which are aweet and mild. I prefer the fend-for-yourself places where I find the variety I like most, and pick those. Sampling multiple kinds is part of the fun. But, being an organized person, I totally understand why they do it this way. It's set in the beautiful Green Valley, and rhe old barn is a treasure. They have family antiques (to see) mixed with Polish pottery to buy. Naturally, it's all blueberry themed. Bring containers to take your berries home. They don't provide boxes. Canter-Berry Farms is a blueberry farm that has a stand in Seattle's Pike Place Market. They make blueberry jam, blueberry chutney, blueberry syrup, and blueberry vinegar. You can also get a gift box with one each of all four products. The blueberry jam is the most outstanding I have ever tasted, and has nice chunks of whole blueberries in it. The chutney was also very good. You can also visit the farm during blueberry season in August and pick your own berries. I've never been to the farm, but I did buy a whole bunch of their products at Pike Place Market several years ago. A girlfriend and I took our three children to pick blueberries at the Canter-berry farm. We had a great time. They encourage you to eat all you can while you pick. Great berries. The owner, Clarrisa, came out to us as we were about to leave. After inspecting the bush we were "assigned", Clarrisa berated our group for not picking this bush clean. She berated us for several minutes. She told us if we were picking not talking we would have done a better job. She told us that this was her business and we should be "ashamed" of ourselves for the way we picked, tat we were just taking the "big" berries. If you have ever pick any kind of berries with 7-8 year olds you would know you "get it all"! Sticks, green berries, leaves and even the dreaded "Yucky" berries ones that are moldy). This outing quickly turned into the worst ever. Her husband heard of this conversation and joined in. He even went to the length of explaining they have rules for picking berries and that if I could read, I would have saved myself all this abuse. We will not return to this business. I would not pick berries or buy any products that support this business again. read more

I've only been blueberry picking once before--last year--at a farm in Bellevue. Granted, from what I hear, last year wasn't a very good year for blueberries, so I'll try not to hold it against that particular farm. In any case, if you go blueberry picking this year, which you should, go to the Canter Berry Farm in Auburn. They regulate their picking fields, which means that they choose a spot for you and ask that you pick the bush clean before you move on down the row. This way they can ensure that there will be big clusters of berries for the next person, rather than letting people go willy nilly through the fields and leaving slim pickin's for everyone else. The berries this year are big, fat, juicy and sweet. Head out there if you can. $2.00 per pound. I picked 14 pounds in about an hour and a half without really trying. And they let you eat as much as you want while you're out there picking! read more

This was my first experience going berry picking, but it was pretty cool. No complaints! When you get there, they assign you to a fresh row where no one has been so that you can get all the blueberries you can. They do ask that you go down bush-by-bush and not just go randomly throughout your row though, which makes sense. It does get pretty crowded as you go down your row because there isn't much space between each bush and next row over, so maybe wear longsleeves if you're worried about bugs and getting poked by branches. They provide you with buckets, big and small, to collect all your blueberries while you're out there, but you have to make sure to bring your own to take your blueberries home in. It doesn't take long to get a lot. However, I remember the owner saying we came on the fourth day of the season (today), so maybe that's why. We ended up picking 20-some pounds after about 1.5-2 hours and it's $2/lb. We went on a partly cloudy day, so the temporary shade we got from the clouds was super nice. It did get pretty hot with the sun out though. Remember to bring hats and water! Overall, big blueberry farm and great experience! They don't spray pesticides, so you can just eat them straight from the bush, which they encouraged we do while we picked away. The owners were very nice. We'll probably be back, if we're able to get through our 20-some pounds of blueberries we brought back home... Haha. read more

They have Jersey blueberry bushes, which are much more flavorful than store bought ones. Our group picked 13 lbs of blueberries and paid $30. They let you eat as you picked (quality control!) and only ask you clean out one bush before moving on to the next, which helps berries grow in at an even rate for next picking. They use fungicide once in early spring, and no pesticides, wash via top irrigation and it's so clean you can pick without gloves. Bring your own container for transporting home (we brought cooler with Tupperware and blue ice) but they gave buckets that tie around your waist for picking. Friendly people, terrific berries. I would go back in a heartbeat, but first we have to go make jam, pies, and muffins... read more

My first time picking berries and it was great! The fruit was fantastic and so affordable.

I gave it a 2 stars due to the location, other then that it was just alright. Don't get me wrong they are very nice and all, but I just didn't like the fact that we have to clean out our bush before moving to the next. What if I don't want those teeny- tiny berries..... it is a u-pick, I should be able to choose the berries that I like as long as I am in my row. They really get on you about that and I am not even kidding. The owner told me that I have to clean out all the ripe ones on the bush. Which it's kind of annoying and not worth the trouble. I rather drive a little further and get nice, plump, huge, juicy, delicious berries for the same price but with the satisfaction of picking to my liking. read more

Wonderful time picking berries with my mom and wife. Only took about 30 mins to get out the farm on a scenic drive through some of the last farm land in the green river valley. Price was great especially because we are a few lbs of berries during our pick. Fun way to spend an hour. read more

I have never been to the actual farm but love their retail spot in Pike Place Market. They make blueberry chutney (chunkier than jam), jam, blueberry syrup and--the most amazingly wonderful flavor discovery of all--blueberrry vinegar. I had never had the vinegar before - I just use it "straight" on my salad - no oil needed - and the flavor is sooo good! It's great for gifts, too - they will ship. This is a real find in Seattle. read more
