When I asked about the money, she said to ask the other person at my table because she must have gave the money to her, but she didn't because we counted all the money. Not sure it was intentional because she was constantly running around making mistakes. A potentials simple miscounting turned into theft when refused to give me my money. I typically eat here regularly with no issues. Recently I went and I had a chicken Fajita taco salad. There was maybe 4 pieces of tiny shriveled pieces of chicken. I dig around backwards frontward and sideways searching for chicken. It was also soupy which is odd to have a soupy salad. . So at the end I politely asked if it can be taken off as I couldn't find any chicken and it was soupy. I was told it was that way because of the cheese dip. That doesn't explain why there was no chicken. The manager refused to take it off my bill. I'm very patient but the lack of remorse and effort to replace it or take it off was astounding. This is our go-to Mexican spot in downtown LR. It blows away La Chingada and Diablo's food-wise and the drinks are always strong. The Midori-heavy green iguana is my favorite margarita in Little Rock and the cazuela voladora is equally delicious. Get the authentic Mexican street tacos! read more

What a pleasant surprise! I was craving tacos and I found this place on Doordash. Trusting Doordash can be hit or miss, but the menu was simple and the price was right so I ordered without consulting yelp (gasp). I ordered al pastor and carne asada tacos. I noticed that they also had ceviche tostadas on the menu so I ordered that and a burrito combo with rice and beans. Everything was delicious, but the ceviche really stole the show! There was nothing especially noteworthy about Cantina. Standard Mexican-American fare, with the sort of massive, disorganized menu you'd expect at a place like this. The food was fine, I had the pork carnitas and couldn't complain. Lots of families/groups, so it was challenging to get a server's attention at times, especially with how spread out the dining area is. But overall, a decent meal that didn't break the bank. read more

El Jimador Tequila...A favorite Just one of the 30 tequilas that I counted behind the bar . I simply asked for an El Jimador margarita. I was told that the margaritas are already premade. I asked "you can't make a margarita with El Jimador on the rocks? " Well,......I'm still confused... I accepted what was the mediocre house Margarita on the rocks in lieu of what I really wanted. Something I normally never do but ,we walked down here to have a drink before dinner. Why feature 30 different tequilas ( I counted) if you're not going to cater to what your guest would like to have in the form of a very simple drink? Shots only?? Not there, last time I made that mistake here it was extremely expensive... The food is excellent, the server, albeit a little misinformed as far as I can tell, is very nice. Oh my gosh! We didn't order the world but what we got was fabulous!!! We got two fajita taco salads - one steak and one chicken - they came loaded with meat and all the fixings. A great almost hidden place downtown for Mexican. This has become my go-to place for Mexican. The food is good and it is almost never crowded. I have had several things off the menu which have always been spot on. The fajitas, enchiladas, and chili rellenos have always been excellent. The cheese dip has good flavor, the salsa has just the amount right of spice and the chips are very good. The staff is always friendly and makes me feel my business is appreciated. It is easy to get a table here on a Friday or Saturday night as compared to other Mexican restaurants nearby so it has become my goto for Mexican on the weekends or for lunch. read more

When I said that's too much and asked about other dishes, every one I asked about was very good. The reality is different. Ordered tacos al pastor, and while they weren't disgusting, they weren't tacos al pastor. More like pulled pork with added flavoring and pineapple. Beans and rice were good, chips very good (warm, thick, crispy). Final concern - they charge an up charge for using credit card but don't say a word to you about that, then explain as it's a normal business practice. Would I go back? If 5 restaurants were closed and I was hungry like tonight. Probably would order nachos or something basic, as authentic they are not. read more

I revisited Cantina Cinco de Mayo with the same friend who previously found the bone in his chimichanga. It was his idea, so apparently he was undaunted. The service was better (not that it was particularly bad before), as if people have started to settle into their new location. This time instead of the chimichanga I had flautas, and they were really good. I didn't remember the salsa being as spicy as it is, but still good. I still think the prices are a little high for this type and grade of food, but being downtown, maybe that's just what they have to charge to keep up with the rent so I forgive them. Salsa was a bit odd chips were good. decided to play it safe and ordered the cheese enchiladas.
