We've been coming to Baja Grill for years, and it's hands down our favorite restaurant! The food is consistently amazing, the service is always friendly, and we've never had a bad experience. Our go-to order is the blackened shrimp quesadilla and the Triple Dipper, and they're always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Pair that with one of their margaritas, and it's the perfect meal every time. One of the things we appreciate most is the consistency. I've been to this restaurant now about three times and each time I have enjoyed my food! I've ordered the shrimp tacos, honey Chipotle tacos and recently ordered the Cuban nachos. I'm not the biggest fan of the shrimp tacos. It was a little on the dryer side but the flavor was good. I absolutely love the honey chipotle, or it's very similar to that on the menu. It was very flavorful, juicy, season quite well. Today I went back and tried the Cuban nachos when I saw another Patron eating them. It is a large plate and you can easily share. I did ask for fresh chips just due to the cheese melting my chips but I will definitely be ordering this again. Do not offer free chips and salsa with each table but I did buy it in addition to you some guacamole. It was so fresh and flavorful. I've ordered it each time that I've gone to this restaurant. I did try one of their non-alcoholic margaritas. They were really nice and made it mango flavored but it just tasted off to me. I may go back when I'm off the work clock and order an alcoholic beverage and Report back. My service was great. Each time that I've gone my food comes out rather quickly and it's a lovely place to go to catch a quick lunch bite. We sat at the bar since the restaurant was full at 5:45 on a Wednesday night. The bartender was great, taking our food order quickly and checking on us regularly. We just ordered water to drink, but she didn't seemed irritated at all by that. The salsa and chips were good. Strong onion and garlic so you'll brush your teeth more than once later on. Husband got the chicken enchiladas. I got the mahi taco and the shrimp taco. Mine were both good but I wouldn't consider them great. The fish and shrimp were cooked just right so no issue there. They just lacked flavor. The mango salsa was kind of bland, maybe not enough mango? I make it at home and it has plenty of spice so not sure what was missing. The size of the tacos is just right to make a good meal out of two of them. Maybe I need to try something different next time. The enchiladas were pretty basic. Nothing special. Kind of resembled the same cookie cutter enchiladas at other Mexican places in town. He said they were fine. Food was okay to good. Service was good to great. read more

Great taco joint. A ton of specialty tacos... I only tried 3 and man they were super tasty. The Cuban, Caribbean Jerk and Smoke Chicken. The guacamole and salsa were quite tasty as well. Ran in for a quick margarita and appetizer. They are currently taking reservations due to COVID however, we didn't have one. Thankfully, they were able to squeeze us in and they were so friendly about it. We grabbed the margaritas and the dip trio appetizer. Every dip was pretty good but next time I will just get the queso. It was creamy, delicious, and almost caused an argument as to who was going to get to finish it! Ordered the jerk chicken naked bowl. The chicken was terribly dry and the pineapple on top was a ring of pineapple from a can. I was expecting fresh pineapple. The place felt and looked dirty (inside and out). I was seated at an outside table that clearly had not been cleaned. The food came out so fast I didn't even get a chance to sip on and enjoy my margarita which was actually good. My waitress said, "we ain't got a lot to do." Baja's gets a nod! I enjoyed the casual (but not too casual) Mexican grill vibe they're giving me here. Like a... "Come on in and take a load off," but also a ... "Hey, we've got standards!" feel if you will! The food is tasty and the presentation is intentional. I enjoyed the triple dipper and the smoked chicken nachos during my visit. Small place with about 5 tables and 5 booths indoor then enclosed outdoors seating. Had a server named Chris who was very personable and nice. Had queso to start which was very good with fresh chips. They were out of the crab cakes which seemed to be a popular appetizer. We had the Baja frozen margaritas that turned out to be VERY strong (10/10) especially if you order off the happy hour from 3-6 Tuesday-Friday. For entrees we had the honey chipotle burrito and the Caribbean jerk tacos: the burrito was very filling and flavorable. Sweet and yet savory combinations earned this a 8.4/10. Lacking in texture changes as the entree was soft. Would recommend adding the pickled red onions for even more flavor and a small crunch. The tacos was different in cuisine as far as flavor goes combines the sweet spice taste of the islands with a more modern approach in a double stacked flour tortilla but was dry. My friend took me here during my visit. Fine Mexi-Cali Cuisine. Never heard of Mexi-Cali before until now. Maybe it's means more avocado in their dishes since Cali loves their avocados! Just a wild guess. Their menu is simple - tacos ($4-$5), burritos ($8-$10), and quesadillas (~$10). I got the Slow-smoked shredded beef topped with Baja sauce, pico de gallo, and fresco cheese. $4 each?! Eek. Even "street tacos" are $2 each max. $4-5 for a small taco is a bit steep. My friend got the Cuban burrito for $9.50: pulled pork, rice, avocado. Not sure about the other ingredients. It was pretty tasty though. A side of rice (size of a small soup cup) is $1.50 extra. Small, intimate place in a nice part of town. Decent service. Good food, but too pricey for what you get. I think the "fine" part is the hint for such steep prices. read more

Out of the fold, Heights Taco, & Baja, I choose Baja every time! These are my favorite tacos, burritos and baked burrito bowls by far. The skinny marg is great to go with it. Their frozen margs aren't my favorite though. Heights Taco has the best frozen margs down the street. The food is the best here. I love love love the Cuban Taco or you can get it as a bowl or burrito! It's so good. I also love the Smoked chicken taco. It's got cheese dip and peppers and onions in it with delicious juicy smoky chicken! You cannot beat it. My first visit, I went for Happy Hour. I returned 3 days later for another Happy Hour! Marcus is the bartender. If you're getting any kind of frozen margarita you won't need an extra shot because he does his job and he does it well! They also have a margarita that has a watermelon purée and it is amazing. The guac is super fresh. I really enjoyed it. The staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Due to social distancing there are limits on seating; however, after our time ran out, the staff moved my friend and I inside with no problems. I'll definitely be back. Nice location. Many gluten free options. Clean taste and low on salt. I had the mushroom and goat cheese tacos which comes with 2 tortillas. I also had the grilled shrimp skewer. While the meal was nice and well cooked it was lacking flavor and had small portions (and small shrimp). I was very impressed by the prompt and kind customer service. I would have loved my first visit to Baja Grill to be positive after all of the amazing things that I heard and seemingly wonderful menu options available. However, I was treated rudely by one of the servers and told to leave by the manager after she stated "No server here will take care of you" and turned her back and walked away from us. At approximately 4:00 pm, we arrive at Baja Grill eager to try it for the first time. Seated by a host (young white gentleman with longish dark hair) on the patio. The person who seated us was stopped by another employee (young guy, high low fro) That same employee then came to our table and said "there was a host who wasn't here and didn't know" and then without any further explanation walked away. The same employee came back to the table just a few minutes later saying we "had to move" telling us it was shift change and there are several reservations. We said "we already know what we want. We can give you our order while you guys figure out what's going on OR we can just take it to go! He then said we needed to move inside to a booth in a really confusing manner. My husband called the restaurant from his phone to get a manager. Manager (white lady) came out and said that we needed to move to the table next to us, due to them only being at half capacity., which wasn't a problem at all. We asked "Is that what your employee was trying to communicate?" Manager then advised us that "He DID tell you couldn't sit there." I said "he didn't say anything of the sort" Manager again tries to defend the employee. My husband then said "No! I'm telling you that your employee was unprofessional and you're defending him!" Manager then said "Well do what you want but NO server here will take of you!!! Husband asked "Did you just say that we should leave because no server will take care of us here!?!" Manager advised "Yes" and walked away. As we left, we walked back by the patio table where we were originally sat. The group of three people who were sitting near us were just as confused as we were about what was happening and wanted us to come back over and join them. They said "You weren't bothering us, please come back and sit down." We advised, would love to, but we couldn't since we asked to leave. At this point, Marcus (bartender) came running out to us. He thought our laughter with the three top was us "starting trouble". They explained it was all good, and they were as mystified as me as to why we were being kicked out. They advised Marcus that "we weren't the problem" and proceeded to pull out their credit cards so that they could pay and leave. Marcus was just trying to "protect" his coworkers. Good for him! I understand Covid-19 restrictions and respect that each restaurant has to follow the guidelines to keep their staff and patrons safe, and I understand this is a stressful time for businesses operating in this new normal. However, I would have hoped for better service from your establishment on Kavanaugh. read more

This place is Amazing! A hidden gem in the Heights. I use this as a fun entertainment spot for people coming from out of town! The food is delicious! And I mean stupid good, the margaritas are yummy and colorful and the atmosphere is artsy and relaxing. There is an outdoor patio so check it out on a cool night with some shorts and sandals. The managers are wonderful and staff is always spot on. I've been more than a few times and will soon be back again! read more

We live close by and often get this to go. I like that the menu has a lot of different meat/veggie options and then you choose if it's a quesadilla, taco, burrito or nachos. I haven't tried the tacos but we usually get the quesadillas which are huge and 2 feed 2 adults and 2 kids easily for a good price. We get the smoked chicken and the pulled pork and both are delicious. The guacamole and Queso are awesome as well. We have eaten inside too and really liked it, the service was good and we had drinks that were both delicious. We will definitely continue to get those quesadillas. So good! read more
