I kinda just ran into this place out of nowhere when trying to go to the supermarket, and having a gelato earlier at a different place, I decided to stop by in here to check out the flavors and see what they had. They don't have many unique flavors here; they have the usual mint, crema, fragola, passion fruit and all that. However, their signature flavor here is the gusta di Cantina which is a hazelnut/almond blend with tostata and Nutella. Really delicious! I ended up getting their baby cone (one scoop) of that flavor for 1 euro. The lady at the counter was SO nice and sweet. She even let me try the flavor before I got it as well. The texture of the gelato was just how I like it; smooth, creamy, and super tasty. The gelato is stored in the metal tins which keep the quality of the gelato perfect. This isn't a super touristy location but I do happen to see a lot of tourists run into here probably without intention. In Italy there is pretty much a gelato place on every street, if not more than that. On my first night in Florence with my roommates, we stumbled upon Cantina del Gelato after dinner and that was the first visit of many that we had. Cantina del Gelato is a smaller gelateria and is not too close to any tourist stops, which was great because it was almost never crowded. Also we knew that this gelateria was legit because it did not display heaps of gelato, which are typically what tourists like to see, but instead they are inside silver canisters in the counter. In addition to this, the prices were also very reasonable, with the small sized gelato priced at 1 Euro! Since I was studying abroad, this definitely was within my budget to have almost every day. Other items on their menu included acai bowls, which I also tried during my trip here and they were equally delicious but of course a little healthier. Every time someone I know travels to Florence, I always recommend Cantina del Gelato. read more

Conveniently located just over the Ponte Vecchio bridge is one of the best gelato spots in all of Florence, if not all of Italy. We were delighed to find Cantina del gelato and visited several times over our stay in Florence. It's hard to come by quality, handmade gelato but you'll find it here and it will surely not disappoint. I highly recommend the nocciola and the mascarpone and nutella combination. So yummy! I made the mistake of getting a small, be sure to at least get a medium, you won't want to miss out on this stuff!! read more

WOWZERS! This place was amazing! I got the peanut-coated, chocolate-covered, cannoli-shaped waffle shell stuffed with Gusta Della Cantina flavor (noccioloto + almonds + caramel + Nutella). I didn't get the cone, but I can't say enough good things about the cannoli-shaped shell and the ice cream flavor I got it with! The shell had the perfect texture and flavor - crunchy, nutty, and bittersweet. This meshed perfectly with the special ice cream flavor they offered! The mix of the solid shell and the creamy gelato was the perfect blend for an evening dessert =). They really stuffed the ice cream down the shell, not skimping out at all on the portions! Whenever I talk about visiting Florence the Cantina del Gelato is always at the top of the highlight list. My wife tried the melon version and it was actually quite nice (not being a melon fan) and I usually never stray to far off the chocolate course...and it did not disappoint. Honestly my favorite gelateria in all of Florence. The quality of the gelato is unlike any other. The staff are extremely friendly and willing to answer any questions and the environment and location is prime. Even if there is no room to sit inside (it is a rather small place after all) you can just walk across the street and eat with the view of the Ponte Vecchio and the Arno. Once we had found Cantina Gelato on the other side of the river, we were delighted and dazzled by the huge array of flavours. These delightful flavours range from persimmon to cookies. We were extremely impressed by the peanut butter ice cream, which had a very smooth and creamy flavour. If you are struggling to choose from one of the delicious tastes (which may be the problem) then there is always the spinner on the wall which can make the decision for you. Great gelato in Florence a couple of blocks from the Ponte Vecchio on the same side of the Arno as the Pitti Palace. The chocolate is like eating delicious mousse. Coffee and Mango also are outstanding. buy the gelato and enjoy it as you lean on the wall by the Arno across from the Uffizi, watching the people on the Ponte Vecchio and in the neighborhood.
