This is our first time here. A friend recommended so we thought we would give it a try. We both had the margaritas and they were very good. The happy hour peel and eat shrimp were amazing and to make everything perfect, they had Stone crab. It's so hard to find and they were done well and served with warm butter. The key lime pie was average. The only thing I would mention is it would be nice to have cocktail forks with the stone crabs. Our server Isabel did a wonderful job. We will be back. Some restaurants just bread the seafood, but Tony the chief and owner adds some great seasoning to all the fried seafood that just brings it alive in your mouth! The dish to order is the full boat. It includes fried shrimp, clams, oysters, and fish bites. It also comes with hushpuppies and a side. Order like a local and ask for the happy hour menu. The hidden gem on this menu is the stone crab claws. They also have $5 margaritas and an assortment of THC drinks while they are still legal in SC. Food was good. My friend ordered the raw oysters and gator bites, I tried the gator bites. They were good. I had the shrimp tacos and cheesy grits, I dunno it sounded good. They were ok. I like my shrimp cooked a little more than most. But that's me . Two people had the fish and chips, with Mac n cheese they said it was really good. And another had the smash burger. She liked hers. We walked in and there was no hostess stand. Three employees walked by and ignored us. I finally asked one if we seat ourselves and she said no. Hostess finally came (one of the employees who initially ignored us). Four of us and they only had three menus available. Took 10 minutes before our server came to get our drink order. It's mainly bar food and the restaurant is extremely loud. It also takes entirely too long to get your food. We waited over 15 minutes to get the bill after having to ask for it. Then another 10-15 minutes for them to pick it up. read more

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was poor for a number of reasons. Waters were not brought to the table when asked and had to be repeatedly asked for. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas because we were informed by the waitress that they would serve 4 for $16 vs ordering 4 individual margaritas would be $20. However, there was so much ice in the pitcher that only two drinks were served out of it. When we requested we please be charged for just 2 drinks, which is what was served, instead of the pitcher we were told by the server and manager this was not possible that they weren't able to discount. They also failed to provide us a kids menu when asked, forgot a whole meal that was ordered which eventually came out 10 minutes after everyone else's dishes. When the food did get served it was cold and unimpressive. Overall, the experience was bad. The service was poor, the food was incredibly average, the ambiance was miserable - there was no air conditioning inside and was hot and humid. Nothing about the experience was positive. My wife and I recently visited Castaway Key and were very pleased with our visit. We both started with a generous pour of white wine which was delicious. Since we were in somewhat of a hurry we skipped appetizers and went directly to entrees. My wife ordered a cod BLT and I ordered a full boat (fish,shrimp,oysters, and fried clams). The prices were amazingly reasonable (my seafood platter was$12.50). However, the service left much to be desired. I received my meal, our friends who were dining with us received their meals and my wife got nothing. Our server went immediately to the kitchen and explained the problem but the kitchen did not seem to care. She followed up with them several times to no avail. Finally the manager appeared and the problem was fixed. He also comped us all a round of drinks and my wife's meal. Hopefully the kitchen will do better next time. The food was delicious and worth returning for. I would strongly recommend outside seating if the weather cooperates because the noise level inside was close to unbearable. Even with these few hiccups, we will definitely return for delicious food at reasonable prices read more

First time here for lunch. Food was decent, service a little slow, as it appeared they were short on staff. We had the fish and chips, menu said it was cod but it seemed like it was just some style of white fish. Portion of fish was 2 small pieces with fries and cole slaw. Don't know why it didn't include a couple hush puppies as they were included with other fish dishes. Cole slaw dressing was kind of bland. NEGATIVES: They need to pay a little more attention to details, ketchup bottle at the table was empty, Tabasco bottle was filthy and looked like it was very old. Also, when we arrived we were told to seat ourselves but found that several tables were marked "reserved", but no one ever used them in the 30-40 minutes we were there. Several groups that arrived after we were seated waited at least 5-7 minutes before anyone acknowledged that they were there (not one employee was in the front of the restaurant where customers were for that long!) read more
