I was at Cantine tonight cause I've always enjoyed their food and atmosphere but tonight I witnessed a blonde bartender constantly having her mask lowered while she was building cocktails and talking to guests who also had no mask on. I understand they are annoying to wear but you are breathing over our cocktails and could possibly be spreading it to all of the guests in the building. Just highly unprofessional in this point in time. Do better. read more

Drove past this place on 82 and decided to stop in to see what it was all about. Got the $10 wine flight which included my choice of 4 small glasses of wine. This was a great deal because each glass of wine really wasn't as small as flights at most places. Also had the pommes fries, which were easily the best fries I have ever had! We really like the Cantine for their variety of wines, especially Italian wines. They also do have specials on food and one night there is no cork fee. I'm giving it three stars because their cork fees are $10 which is a bit pricey. Also the bar is small and they blare the music. To me a wine bar should NOT entail me screaming to my husband or my friends that are standing right next to me. I expect that from a regular dive bar not a classier wine bar. read more

Great wine bar! Went there on Friday night and the place had a great crowd. Greeted promptly upon entering and seated at a cozy table. Attentive server gave us a rundown of wines and she gave us several tips on pairing with the menu. All in all a great wine bar in the area! Will be back! read more

This place is excellent! The food options are fabulous...tapas, small plates or large plates. Quality of food is excellent. Creative dishes but not too over the top. They will have a drink choice for everyone. I love their martinis although they are predominantly a wine bar. On the downside, the music in there I SO LOUD you practically have to scream and sometimes the service is a little slow, but all in all a great place. I really hate to give Cantine three stars because I have always enjoyed the place on previous visits, but service tonight was subpar. My sister and I arrived around 7:30 and decided to sit outside. After receiving our drinks, the others on the patio had left and it was only us two. An hour+ goes by and our server has not come back to check on us. In that hour, I finished both my wine and water. My sister finished her drink. What if we had decided we wanted to order food? Or another drink? I literally sat there parched (and no, I'm not being dramatic--I really could have used more water). Finally, another server comes by and asks if we need anything. We ask for the check. He drops it and leaves only for us to find out the check is wrong. Then another completely different server brings us the new check. I have no idea who our actual server was supposed to be. Poor service aside, I enjoyed my glass of shiraz and my sister enjoyed her dessert martini, which was made perfectly--not too strong and not too sweet. I'll be back, cautiously hoping the service improves. read more

Food was very good. Server Will was very good. Sat night at 8pm 7-7-18 we just left. My issue is the rest of the workers including the so called manager and how much they all kept using their phones while place is full of customers. This is a damn shame that while your at work getting paid and your all workers (except Will) are playing on their phones. I personally would fire everyone of them!! Disappointing - I was hoping for something new and great. Menu looked (and I emphasize LOOKED) fantastic. I liked the idea of ordering a bunch of small plates and apps to get a variety and try different things they had to offer. We ordered the calamari, scallops, and Sicilian pizza. Also tried to order the butternut squash ravioli, but were told it is no longer offered. Calamari had potential. It was cooked well, not too heavy, nice texture. Here is the problem: they drenched it in buffalo wing sauce and gorgonzola cheese. You have probably never seen a restaurant do this before....and there is a reason why. Yuck! Why ruin a good thing with buffalo wing sauce?!? Next were the scallops. You get three not-so-plump scallops with the order. I couldn't tell if they were extremely sandy or if it was the bread crumb topping - either way, I just didn't want to devour them after the first bite. They were also swimming in a pool of strawberry or raspberry sauce of some sort. Again...if your going to serve a sauce with something that does not need it, at least make it good. The pizza was ok. We probably liked that the most but wasn't anything special. The menu read like a high-end trendy restaurant. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to the hype. Do you ever eat somewhere and the food is almost there but something is just missing? You get the feeling that the person cooking doesn't have real training or that extra something to make it really good with the right flavor pairings? That was our experience here. Atmosphere left something to be desired. I don't think I would call it trendy or cozy. Kinda bare bones and industrial...I almost felt like I was in an upscale Chipotle. Maybe a good place to stop in if you want to grab a cocktail or glass of wine. Probably better off just going next door to the Italian restaurant though. Came here after having a few beers at the Dark Bar down the strip. Didn't even know this place existed until my friend asked if I wanted to have a Lake Erie Monster before I drive back to Cleveland. Bright idea. Needless to say we did and I liked the place! Its a shining beacon in homogenized, chain-loving suburbia. To me it looks like literally every eatery/gastropub/restaurant that has opened in the past 3 years though. Restoration Hardware mirrors and repurposed industrial stuff. Pretty cool, but not re-inventing the wheel. Great beer selection and priced pretty well. The food looked super small portions and is served on those big white dishes...again been done a million times. The couple next to us at the bar had a sea of white plates in front of em. Totaled up in my head would of been about 60 bux worth of food but only was a few handfuls of stuff in total. Really expensive for what ya get. Bartenders were OK. Not very social. They looked too busy, constantly running all over washing the 127 different glasses they have for drinks and making charcuterie boards. Odd to see that being made right behind the bar. Pulling olives out of plastic tubs and putting em on a plate is more BOH stuff, no? I adhere to the old adage that bartending is 10% accounting, 10% chemistry and 80% babysitting. This new wave of places popping up seems to have the adage of 10% babysitting 40% chemistry and 50% raking in profit. Like Billy Joel said "He's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke". Tough to have to write a bad review but there are problems at Cantine, a place myself, friends, and family have gone to since it opened. Rumors of poor service and food quality are more real than not as our group experienced on our recent visit. Multiple issues with our bills. Tried to work with the server and manager to fix my wife and I's bill and there response was either I pay the whole bill or they'd have to call the cops and I'd have to work it out with them. What kind of a place treats its customers like that? So doing my best to spread the word around the area and at least make sure others know that there are problems at this establishment. When I was discussing my experience at a holiday party in the area a few days later they didn't have nice things to say about the owner. So this may be more an ownership problem then just being able to change out management. So if you do happen to go there, check your bill over very carefully, and if there is an issue, best of luck. read more

Very trendy, crisp,clean & fun when the right crowd stumbles in. good service usually. ONE HUGE ISSUE: They pump the intoxicating smell of the restaurant next door & then refuse to offer anything from the menu or food with any kind of substance on the cantine bar menu. There some good apps, but their very pricey & fatty. A lot of tiny portions of breads cheeses etc... It's baffling why they do this?? It's bad business. I have had to leave several times to get something to eat somewhere else because the smell of the olive oil & butter gets you so hungry.. but yet you cant even get a sandwich or any really filling or remotely healthy unless you want to move next door and sit in a formal restaurant & order. (Last thing most people who come to the bar for a drink & bite to eat want to do!). Couple times my friends & II said the hell with it & stopped at the subway next door, call it quits & went home when I would have stayed & spent a ton of money if we could just get something to eat! It's like... "Dude, I can see the food! your not fooling anyone. Sell me some already!" Just wanna eat. Very cool bar, but start offering some of the freaking food next door ALREADY!! Just a few items so people don't leave and go the boneyard or even subway! What the hell are thinking cantine? I came here for the first time to try the brunch. I heard from my sister that they went when it first started it was good but could be improved still. Today I had the chicken and waffles and my wife had the bananas foster. The chicken and waffles were incredible. I liked them as much as greenhouse tavern chicken and waffles. That's saying a lot. When I come to cantine I usually get beer but this time I got a mixed drink. ( the only other mixed drink I got here was a pumpkin drink that the bartender was practicing for the season, and it was incredibly good) I can't remember the name but it had bourbon, ginger beer, apple cider, maple syrup, garnished with a piece of bacon. It was fantastic. I highly recommend you try the place out. Just one problem. If this place catches on anymore they will be out of space. They could fit more tables, and perhaps tables for two. There are a couple big tables and it a couple sits at them it's a waste of space. But that's not a big deal. I look forward to coming back. read more
