Taggart's Ice Cream parlor has been around since 1926. This place transports you to the 1920s with its original high-backed maple booths, old wood and tile floors. Taggart's serves premium housemade ice cream. They also have an extensive menu of diner comfort food, from sandwiches, soups, salads, sandwich melts, burgers, hot dogs, and classic appetizers like French fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and even deep fried pickles! As far as ice cream selections, they have a wide variety: cookie sandwiches, chocolate covered bananas, sundaes, milkshakes, and floats. They also sell different varieties of soda. The cashier, Lauren seated and served me. I ordered a Clubhouse Sandwich with fries $9.50 and their Mini Bittner $5.45. The clubhouse sandwich was big and fresh. It could have been two meals and they gave me a hefty side of fries. It was surprisingly delicious. The MINI BITTNER is a Taggart's tradition and MUST-TRY if you are in Ohio. It is a smaller take on their Bittner, and includes about 8 oz of vanilla ice cream blended in chocolate sauce and topped with a huge serving of buttered, salted pecans. I kept eating it and the pecans were endless lol. I didn't love it, but it was interesting. It got quite salty after a while. All in all, the ice cream was good and the food was even better. Customer service was excellent and Lauren came back to check on me. I will definitely come back to try their other dishes and varieties of ice cream. Taggarts is located on Fulton Rd NW. This local establishment offers an array of ice cream flavors, sundaes, burger, sandwiches, fried appetizers like zucchini, cheese curds, and mushrooms. As far as parking, there is no parking lot and offers on street parking only. There is usually plenty of side street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. There are two sides to Taggarts: the order ice cream only side (inside on the left) or the option to sit down & order. The staff is super friendly and absolutely love working at Taggarts. During this visit, we tried the cheese curds and fried zucchini. Both of these fried appetizers were awesome as to be expected. I got a bacon cheeseburger which was actual ground beef compared to other places who use frozen burger patties. If you are looking for a classic tradition of Taggarts, you must try the Bittner ice cream sundae. The Bittner is "A Popular Canton Classic since the 1930's! I've been here a couple of times but this is the first time I tried one of their many dessert choices. I couldn't decide between the apple dumpling sundae and the fry pie sundae. The server said they were both good so I opted for the apple dumpling sundae. The Apple dumpling was very good. The apple was warm and the perfect consistency. I chose the dairy free vanilla. It was good. They also had about 4 other dairy free options which is great for us lactose intolerant peeps. Everyone in my party enjoyed their desserts. This is a very classic restaurant. They have been open since 1926 which means there's a big anniversary coming up for them. The restaurant is not huge so there may be a wait. They have a big food menu too which is also delicious. Came here on a Monday afternoon and it was packed out could barely find a parking spot! Sound like a popular Canton ice cream shop! This is place is celebrating its 99th anniversary! Next year it will a century in the same location!! Wow!! Apparently it's very popular among the locals here! We sat outside until a booth opened up for us!! I'd love to give 5 stars but our only issue was being our 1st time we didn't know how or where to order and then sit down. So this place seemed tucked away in a neighborhood but so nostalgic and amazing. We were in the area visiting and wanted a sweet treat and this popped up and so glad it did. It is an old school soda shoppe/ice cream/diner. Their treat menu is twice as long as their food menu. It was so overwhelming on what to choose because so many unique and different options that all sounded delicious from sundaes, cake parfaits and mix ins. We chose the sticky toffee cake sundae and the snacky which mixed sweet and salty. The diner food smelled and looked good as well. We will have to return to try some more. read more

I ordered online at 230, drove there and Waited in my car for 20 minutes. Went in they said they don't get the online order notifications unless the manager tells them. I was unable to wait any longer as I had frozen food in my car. Once I was able to get ahold of someone ( I tried calling several times before they answered,) once someone answered I told them to just refund me, she said they could give me credit. Not sure what that meant, so I told her to write my name down thinking she was referring to store credit!?!?!? In the end the employee hung up on me. Obviously she doesn't understand customer service. They kept saying something about cash and the owners ect... I do not want cash, just put the $7.95 back on my card. This place came highly recommended and I see why! I was looking for someplace near the hall of fame that wouldn't break the bank and Taggarts was definitely the perfect option. The inside is absolutely charming. It has that classic old school ice cream parlor look and feel because it has been around since the 30s. There is a pretty expansive menu of cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, soups, salads and fried goodies. Kids meals came with a side and a drink but everything else is a la cart. My husband ordered a Reuben and chili. The Reuben was huge, bread was fresh and everything was tasty. I ordered something I had never heard of before but was highly intrigued: the olive nut sandwich. It was a blend of green olives and pecans in cream cheese served on a toasted rye with lettuce. I loved it. It isn't something I've ever seen on a menu before but if I ever do I'd order it again. We all ordered dessert (even though we were all pretty stuffed). My husband had the bittner which is apparently their specialty. I had a pecan sundae, my son a banana ice cream sundae and my daughter a strawberry sundae. I'm glad they had kid portion sizes and allow adults to order them because even the kids size was plenty big. Our server was very personable, efficient and great with recommendations. Perhaps the best part is that for all of our food, desserts and sides our bill was still only $60. Such an affordable option! I don't remember what he got but I got some coconut ice cream with frozen chocolate cake... it was good at first... but I didn't even finish half. I can't see anyone enjoying frozen cake. Went in last Tuesday night with 3 friends and arrived at 9:50 pm. I understand that this is close to closing time, however, we were simply ordering scooped ice cream. When we walked in one worker said "don't serve them," then followed by saying "register is closed." We proceeded to stand by the register waiting to be served. Eventually, one worker took our orders while the others cleaned directly in front of us and in his way, and made each of them on his own. While he was making them, one worker played the song " You Need To Leave" over the speaker and then said "oh, that is not directed towards you guys" after. This was extremely rude and defeats the purpose of staying open late. If you're open, serve your costumers. And might I add, they would've received a tip if they were simply kind. read more

There's street parking and the surrounding area is pretty well lit. You can order cheese covered hot dogs and onion rings and then if you're really feeling glutinous, get a malt, sundae or Bittner. The Bittner is old school vanilla ice cream (that is that classic golden color, not bleach white), chocolate sauce and topped with salty pecans, whipped cream and a cherry. My wife and I live to try local "mom and pops" any time we travel, and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the chocolate banana split.
