It was a blast... The owner was so kind. First off, this company was the only paint and wine place that answered. The others, like Pinot's Palette had an answering machine that said they would call me back if I called within business hours, which I did and guess what? No call back. So Sarah answered and explained everything. She took my questions without an attitude (they were kinda dumb questions). After that she asked if I could pay through her website, which I could not because I was in commute between job sites. So she processed everything on the website for me. Great customer service. After I made reservations, she tailored the experience for me and my wife, because we were her only two customers for the night. That just meant we could do a learning class, step-by-step, or paint a picture of choice. We chose the latter. Sarah, then told me if the menu she offered so I ordered 2 bottles of wine and a 7 cheese plate. Great food. The food comes from the Cellar wine bar across the street. She had it already displayed by the time we arrived. Sarah was very friendly, she had a great playlist and walked us through everything. This is someone who loves her work and it shows in how she treats her guest. At the end of the night, we had some descent pictures and a great date. We had so much fun here! My boyfriends mom had been before a few months ago and told us that this would be so fun for us to do so we said sure! She organized it all. I have never seen every skeptic in the room eat their words and bow down before. Yes...my friends..who were so reluctant to join me in this fun new experience were kickin and screamin to come. -"I can't draw!" -"My painting will just be stick figures!" - "We're not into art!" Well, finally, after some goading and convincing, they succumbed and agreed to come. We got to the restaurant around 6:30 so we were able to catch the tail wind of Happy Hour. I would highly suggest ordering a round of drinks (just to relax any skeptic you migh have with you) and some $1 tacos. At 7pm, when everyone else shows up, they'll start serving everyone the appetizers (which consists of some flat bread pizza and some deep fried chicken chunks coated with BBQ sauce..meh), and pouring you a glass of wine. I do not suggest getting too tipsy (wait, what? don't drink?? Huh??) Trust me. You want steady hands for the painting part!). If you parked at the meters, there is a 10 min break so you can feed your meters if you need to. The instructor Sara gives you really easy instructions to follow. She will make sure your mixed paint is the correct hue. She will break down the hard parts of the painting into simple instructions that any 5 yr old can understand. Actually, I think 5 year olds are probably better painters than adults since that's their trade right? Drawing cute little pictures for mommy n daddy?? At the end of the class, everyone, and I mean everyone, had a painting they were proud to hang on their wall. Totally totally recommend for a fun time!! P.S. The North Shore Poke Co is next door! My friend and I have been to 3 classes and it was AWESOME! I've always wanted to paint and the instruction was fun and easy to follow. I learned a lot. I checked out this new San Clemente location after attending 2 classes at Luggattis in HB. I really prefer the SC location because it's cozy and has a friendly vibe. Sarah does such a great job with teaching the paintings (they are HER own personal paintings, not a default image like the other companies use - win!)... I've done several classes and one private event and I have been happy with all of them. My friends love it too! The SC location might be a little tricky to find.... It's hidden in the nook near the sushi restaurant, camera store and shoe repair shop. It's private and cozy... And she has a retail shop coming soon where she will sell her paintings and other art supply goodies. I can't wait! And bring your own wine and food to the SC location... I love the cookies at The Cellar across the street... And the sushi next door is good too. It's a great night out!! You will enjoy it! read more

I had a great time at the Canvas, Paint and Wine. The staff was patient with every student and everyone got attention and encouragement. Everyone walked out with their own painting! I took art classes before, so I didn't have to many questions. But some of my friends have not painted since high school... yet they were able to follow all the instructions and paint their own "masterpiece." It was very cute to watch them gain their confidence in their painting skills during the class. One note I'd like to make is that: the business does have a 4 people per class min policy... so I would recommend calling them the day before your class to make sure it's not "under-booked". So I wanted to surprise my fiancee for her birthday by taking her to her first Canvas paint and wine. I have to say Sarah went above and beyond my expectations. I'm not a big wine connoisseur so she went out of her way and spoke with the wine seller to find a wine that is similar to what my fiancee likes. Went to this with a friend and it was just okay...I've been to a similar event called Paint Nite in LA that was much better. The atmosphere at this one was lacking and the actual painting wasn't anything to brag about. The art is so-so (looks like an 8th grader did it) and so is the Host. Be clear, I'm comparing it to another company so my expectations were already set. It wasn't bad it just wasn't as good as the other company in LA. read more

I hosted a private event here this week for 9 of my clients and we had a wonderful time. Sarah was super accommodating helping me plan the event, pick the painting and had everything all ready to go when we got there. She gave a very detailed but easy to follow lesson that moved along nicely considering all of us were kinda goofing off and drinking wine while we painted. The studio is super cute and cozy and the finished product was surprisingly good- I was worried it would look like a 2 year old did it but it looks good thanks to the instruction! I've never been good at drawing, painting, or even writing for that matter, I hated art. I skipped art class in school and the teachers even agreed that I was not that good at it, but I just went to Sarah's class in HB last night and it was GREAT!!!! Wine, beer, whatever you want to drink while you paint.............. AMAZING! Sarah makes it SUPER SIMPLE and keeps an eye on the class the whole time giving you tips. I never thought I could do any kind of art but I really amazed myself. I was skeptical because I lack any creative or artistic bones in my body. However, I had an awesome time and a semi-decent canvas to show for it. I have heard about this place before and when a groupon deal came out i decided to give it a go. Boy am I glad I did! I went with a friend and we had an amazing time. The class is about 3 hours long and starts off with a glass of wine and a bunch of appetizers to share with the other people at your table. You can purchase more wine or drinks too. Our indian guides tribe did this as a father-son event last year, and it was really cool. I'm not gifted artistically (and my son is only 6) but by the end of the event we had created something worthy of hanging on my office wall. I was impressed because I didn't think either of us could create something like that. The gal running it provides everything- just wear some old clothes if you are a little careless with the paint brush (or you are sitting next to a 6 year old).
