#41/2016 I called the owner, Summy, just before we set off for Williams where his interesting bed & breakfast is located to let him know we were running late. He assured me the key was "on the dash" and to call if I needed directions along the way, that it'd take about 75 minutes from the south rim of the Grand Canyon where we were just finishing dinner. I was confused about where he was talking about leaving my room key especially since he wouldn't be present. I asked a couple times but between his accent and the din of the restaurant, I had no choice but to muddle through. So off we drove, exhausted after a long day and even more so pushing through to Williams on a very dark & desolate road with misting rain and occasional snow. The road into Williams turned into a 1-way street and we quickly seemed to be heading out of town. So, I took Summy's offer to call if I needed directions and on the first ring, I then spotted the sign for his B&B. I quickly hung up hoping it hadn't connected but he called back; I told him "Sorry, thought we were lost, we're here, just pulled in." After taking the luggage out of the trunk I realized there were three or four buildings. I walked from one to another getting more annoyed by step looking for the office and finally, there it was along with my key. Up the stairs, now I'm struggling with what seemed to be a newly cut key. After 3 minutes, I called again, "This key doesn't work! Can you help us get in? No, wait, I just got it, nevermind." Well, the annoyed tone in my voice sent Summy over the edge I guess since he called me back and DEMANDED I LEAVE! Huh? I said, "Look, I'm tired, I've been driving for hours, I have a child with me..." "I called Booking.com and cancelled the reservation. You leave now!" I started to speak and he cut me off, "I don't even have to honor your reservation after 8:30, read your contract, I cancelled your reservation, leave right now!" I'm in disbelief and told him he could basically jam it, I wasn't leaving with a tired child in tow and we were in, deal with it. And if he wanted to escalate this bizarre argument to go ahead and call the Sheriff and "I'd guarantee he'd set into motion a legal problem he would deeply regret." Before I could even find the number for Booking.com, they were then calling me. At first she explained that the owner wished for me to leave and when I interjected what'd just happened- and that this argument went from "helpful to get out" and that I never met the guy- this was all over 3 brief phone calls- the customer service rep was shocked. Booking.com advised me that maybe it wasn't safe to stay since she'd talked to him and he was "quite agitated" and heard my side of the story. Looking at my nearly asleep child who'd collapsed on the bed, I told her we'd be staying and I'd just put him out of my mind and do my best to protect ourselves and block the door. I slept with one eye open, got up early and left at 8:10 after quickly dressing- no shower- and threw on some makeup and grabbed our bags. Not trusting the owner who went from zero to ballistic, I took a quick video of the room showing it was, except for the beds being slightly rumpled, in perfect condition. (I could just see his regret over hastily canceling our res and being out a room night claiming we broke a lamp or took one of his dusty teddy bears to recoup some money). I left our key at the desk, absolutely ignored his continental breakfast and quickly got the heck out of there.

I booked this reservation at midnight the night before. It was easy to do and check-in was fast and easy and we were given room #1 when we got there at 2pm which is check-in time. The guy who checked us in was nice, efficient and gave us some recommendations for dinner which we did go to. We got to the queen room which was right next door to the office. They have a country theme with lil bears everywhere but being from NJ country, it was a little nostalgic. Don't expect frills but the room was clean and the bed was just ok and had lots of pillows. I'm used to a pillowtop so I'm spoiled. The bathroom was updated but the towels were clean but old and really need replacing. ((Hint to the owner)) Our room was a queen bed (only 1 bed), table and 2 chairs, small fridge, microwave and a non-working coffee pot. There was a strong bleach smell when we opened the door but we left the door and window open for a spell and it was gone in a bit. It was clean and so I appreciated knowing they cleaned with bleach. They have an nice continental breakfast with 2 types of cereal, oatmeal, fruit, donuts, cake coffee and teas from 7-9am. All in all, it was worth the $$ we paid and we enjoyed our stay. Clean room, nice, helpful staff and love the rocking chairs on the porch !

This is a semi-cute inn, but it's not romantic. It's too worn and frayed for that. My wife thought the teddy bears crossed the line into creepy territory. The main problems though were that the room was dusty and the water pressure was atrocious. We will not be coming back.

It's nonstop work - from the early morning prep for gourmet breakfasts to the meticulous cleaning, thoughtful decorating, and personalized hosting that makes guests feel truly welcomed. It's exhausting, but when done right, it's magical. That's why we're so thrilled to share our experience at the Sheridan House Inn. This B&B doesn't just meet the high standards of the industry; it soars far above and beyond them. From the moment we arrived, the attention to detail was evident. The accommodations are among the best we've ever encountered - luxurious, spotlessly clean rooms with premium linens, comfortable beds that invite deep sleep, and thoughtful amenities that show the owners truly care about guest comfort. The Inn itself creates a warm, inviting environment that's relaxing yet elegant, the kind of atmosphere that's hard to achieve but makes all the difference. And the food? Outstanding. The breakfasts are gourmet masterpieces - fresh, creative, and delicious, prepared with obvious passion and skill. But what truly sets the Sheridan House apart and elevates it above and beyond any other B&B we've ever stayed are the exceptional dinners they offer. These are not your typical B&B fare; they're multi-course Michelin-style quality meals that are memorable, beautifully presented, and an absolute highlight of the stay. The location in the charming town of Williams is another huge plus. Williams is a great place to visit - from exploring the historic Route 66 vibe and gateway access to the Grand Canyon, to unique shops, railroads, wildlife parks, and hiking trails. The hosts go all out without making it feel forced - they're genuinely hospitable, anticipating needs and sharing local insights that enhance the stay. This level of dedication is rare and deserves recognition. Is it worth the money? Absolutely, and then some. In a world of cookie-cutter hotels and average B&Bs, the Sheridan House delivers great value through an unparalleled experience. If you're looking for the best bed-and-breakfast getaway - especially in the Southwest - it'd be hard, if not impossible, to beat this one. Highly recommended without reservation. Thank you to the wonderful owners, Debby & Mark, for keeping the spirit of true B&B hospitality alive and thriving.
