We had an excellent experience with Canyon Electric from start to finish. They came out promptly to provide an estimate for an updated hot tub, and because they came so highly recommended by the Snake River Hot Tub dealership, we felt confident moving forward without getting a second quote. On the day of the installation, an unexpected issue came up from our 17 year old wiring that hadn't been identified during the estimate. It required additional parts, about a half day of extra labor, and even digging up existing hot tub wiring. Despite all of that, we were incredibly impressed that they honored the original estimate without hesitation. That level of integrity is rare and speaks volumes about their business. Throughout the entire process, their communication was clear and consistent. The team was incredibly friendly, professional, and respectful of our space. They took the time to replace all the dirt they had to dig up and left everything clean and tidy when the job was done. I am updating this review as Canyon Electric made an appointment and is coming out to make things right. I have called Canyon Electric three time and message them twice in the past week, to no avail. I have left recordings and gotten no returned call. Canyon Electric did our SPA electric our first home twelve years ago. Canyon Electric also did our Eagle SPA electrical in 2020. We just had our home inspected and the inspector will not pass the inspection as the 220 volt wire runs the complete length of our home in the crawl space "On The Ground." The inspector said it was against Idaho code and illegal. He said it legally had to be nailed to the joists. He was floored and put back that the installer did not nail it up properly. I am old and cannot go under the home so I never new it was done incorrectly and illegally. Plus, I cannot go under the home to nail it up properly. read more

So, 7 months post a less than good service call, I have been noticing two floor vents in primary bedroom were not blowing any air. Decided to inspect under house after exhausting all ideas on main floor. Turn out, the rocket scientists who strung the 220 line, draped it over the heater/ac piping ... the weight of the big power cable pinched the duct pipe in three places. What, were tie straps an extra ala carte item? Not calling them, to fix, or ever again. read more

Canyon Electric is one reason why I believe that I should have an inspector every time I have work done on the house. The service I have received from this business has been fair, but there is room for improvement. A couple years ago, I had reached them because I needed a light fixture to be repaired some outlets needed to be tightened and I needed a couple more plug ins. They came out gave me an estimate and I hired them. One thing that I should have done is ask my dad more questions about what they have done with his house. They do their job, but they slack off at the same time. They worked quickly in my house. The amount I was going to pay was reduced. They did not put a cover on one of the outlets after taking care of the wiring. They also missed one of the outlets that needed to be looked at. There was another outlet that I wanted replaced, but that was not completed. A year later, I had a different electrician from somewhere else to fix my power line. The electrician discovered that the insulation in the attic was pushed to the side. Canyon Electric had pushed all of my insulation to the side and never put it back. So, my house has been colder than normal and I have had condensation on the windows since they had worked on my house and I never realized why until recently. Another thing that really hacks me off about Canyon Electric is the fact that they are not really attentive. I spent all winter, spring, and summer trying to get a power line fixed because Idaho Power will not fix the line if it is something connected to your house. Canyon Electric sent this young man over and he kept repeating that the power would have to be turned off. No joke, what's the cost? He said he would get an estimate and he did not call back. I called a couple months later saying, "Hey, winter is coming can someone please tell me something?" Then finally they call to tell me that they can't help me. Should have been said in the first place instead of wasting my time. So, if you plan on hiring Canyon Electric be aware. They do not do a thorough job. You will more than likely need to go behind their work and finish what they did. They also send paranoid young men who tell you stories to freak you out about the situation when it is not necessary. They do not follow up unless you put a fire under their rear. read more

This is my first Yelp review, and unfortunately, not a good one. Canyon Electric was recommended to us from our spa salespeople. We got another quote from another company, but were assured Canyon Electric knows how to hook up these specific spas, and works with them all the time, so we went with Canyon. We received a quote, in writing, in the amount of $2,700 for everything. We waited 4 months for our hot tub to be delivered. About 2-3 weeks prior to delivery, we suddenly noticed Louis was getting very hard to get ahold of. Calls, texts, and emails were not being returned. Finally, they gave us a date for install/hookup. The morning prior to the day everything was due to be wired, new electric panel installed, etc., the office manager contacted us and verbally told us she had to raise the price of our job by $300. When my husband said no way, we have a written quote, and this is one day prior to the job, she cried on the phone and said their business was in trouble, and gave a list of other strange excuses, that were personal in nature. The electrician then called us to cancel the job entirely. We have never experienced such unprofessionalism from a company before. Now we have to find another company, wait for our hot tub install. Please, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

I would give Canyon zero stars if I could. When we bought a hot tub Canyon was recommended to us as for the electrical work. We got a bid from them and two other companies. Trying to work with Canyon is a classic reminder of "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me," here's why: 1st bid appointment: didn't show up and did not call until the next morning, said he completely forgot and apologized. Okay, it happens ... 2nd bid appointment: Showed up late, didn't call until time of appointment to say he was running late. We got our job quote from this appointment. 3rd bid appointment (because they forgot to check whether we were up-to-date already on a certain wiring code): Showed up late again (different guy this time - the owner) and didn't call until well after the appointment time to say he was still an hour out. He said he'd had an emergency in Emmett, if I recall correctly. We went with them because they did give us the best bid on the work, which the owner let us know later was an underbid by his "most-experienced" employee (I use quotes because that's what he told us, not to mock his underbidding worker). He also said they would stand by that bid (about $200 too low), and we set up the appointment for Tuesday at 11am. He said he'd contact us on Monday if Tuesday wouldn't work for them because they had a big job on Monday he hoped to have done in time. Monday night we got a message from the receptionist saying we were all set for Tuesday and to call back IF WE HAD QUESTIONS OR NEEDED TO CANCEL. We still have this message and I wish I could attach it to this post, because this is where Canyon really falls apart. Tuesday, my boyfriend took off of work to be here for tub delivery and electrical hook-up. No show. No call. No answer at their number (voicemail messages only). On the third try to reach them the number had been "temporarily disconnected." It took our hot tub delivery guy calling them to get through at which point the receptionist said they'd call us back. First the receptionist tells us that they canceled everything (Idaho Power appointments and inspector) because we didn't call back and confirm the appointment ... uh, what? We called bs on that because of the message she left us Monday night. A minute of backpedaling and then "Well, I left you two messages and you must not have gotten the second one that said to call back because because ..." Excuse, excuse, excuse. Riiiiiiiight .... From other info that she let slip: we know they were out at another job in American Falls by 11am this morning, our appointment time. Sounds like because THEY underbid our job, we became priority zero to them. Either that or they just don't care and don't stand by their appointment times whatsoever, or don't own up to scheduling mistakes they make. The next day they can get us in is next Monday, but who knows if they'd even show up. We've found someone else to do the job. In summary (phew!): I finally found someone with worse customer service than cable companies. Bravo, Canyon Electric, Bravo. read more

They even let us know that we needed to move the hot tub further away from an existing wall outlet to be in code compliance. The following morning a crew showed up to complete the work. We were referred by our pool company to have Canyon Electric check a problem with the pool wiring, and I also wanted to split a circuit with too many outlets on it. I was given an estimate that could have maxed out at well over $1,000, if things proved difficult. I gulped and hired them. It turned out that the pool problem was a misplaced ground screw, and the circuit split was also an easy job. The end result: A minimum service call charge. These guys are efficient, on time and above all, HONEST. Six stars if I could! read more

Hey highly recommend Canyon Electric. Louis and his guys were thorough, fast and professional. I had can lights installed in several rooms in my home. Their estimator came out the day after my initial call. I got on their installation schedule quicker than I anticipated. An electrician and his apprentice arrived on time and were friendly. They were careful about choosing installation locations and discussing with me before they began cutting holes in my ceiling. Louis the owner arrived about halfway through the job and helped finish the installation. It seems it's getting harder and harder to find contractors for small jobs in this area. Luis was amazing!!! I normally do not give reviews online but was very disappointed to see the 1 star and wanted to give a quick explanation of my experience with him and his company. Last year Canyon Electric did some work for me and in looking for their number online for some new work this year, I stumbled onto yelp and wanted to add my two cents! Luis showed up on time, gave me a fantastic quote, and upgraded my electrical panel in my garage and had my hot tub running in no time at all! Along with installing a electrical wall outlet in my master bath, I couldn't be happier! They were professional, honest, and timely. I called Luis based on a few 5 star referrals from friends/acquaintances of mine who had also used Canyon Electric for some electrical work. I am grateful for their referral. They will be installing a chandelier in my bedroom over my bed and a much needed ceiling fan in my foyer this spring and I am looking forward to it! In all honesty, I will always call Luis first for any electrical work that needs to be done on my home! He and his company have proved themselves to be hardworking, fair, dependable, with quality customer service. If I could rate Canyon Electric more than a five star, I would! I'm pretty sure these folks have angel wings! Two days into owning our first rental property, it was apparent there were MAJOR electrical problems. My handyman tried to get figured it out but finally gave up and told me to call an electrician. I called several electricians who either didn't call me back or just said they were too busy to handle my problem. I looked to Yelp and found Canyon Electric. She called me back promptly and was so sweet. She said they were super busy but she'd make sure someone came out to take a look today. Sure enough, Jordan arrived mid-day and made a great first impression. He was clean cut, smart, and went right to work. It was a true mystery why half of the house didn't have electricity but he just dug in and started checking everything. It turns out it was a pretty big deal as there was power coming in from 2 sources and the polarity was reversed (whatever that all means.). In my mind, I was thinking this could be a huge deal by the time we are done. I was freaking out. Jordan found the problem, fixed it, and checked for any other problems once he was done. At the end, his bill was $150!! Seriously? I just about wanted to hug him. I'm calling him back out to install the light fixtures we are replacing since he was so efficient, competent, and reasonable. I'll tell everyone about him! read more

They came out the same day to give me a quote and then worked with the hot tub company to plan when they can come out at the same time. The work is so professional looking. I'm very impressed with the entire experience and I'm going to need some more electrical work done in my back yard in the spring and I have no doubt that I will be using Canyon Electric. Luis was a very nice guy and great to deal with. Thank you. I'm adding to my review almost a year later. I've had Canyon electric come out again and put outlets in for my yard project and also for out door TV, bonus room theater and move a switch in the master bathroom that was put behind the door by the builder for some odd reason. We were referred to Canyon by another business and was excited to support a company that was used by a friend. Louis came by for a consultation and he was very confident that this would be a quick and easy job. Everything was looking well. We scheduled a time a month from them to begin the work. Over the weekend I received a call that they wouldn't be coming on Monday as planned. At first I was told that a product needed was back ordered so they had to wait to get that in. Disappointed, because I closed my business for the day and lost a days worth of income, however I continued to chose a date to reschedule because I was told it would be done in a day. 3 weeks later and the day before his team was supposed to do the job I was called and told he no longer "wanted to do the job" he didn't feel like he could do the job well and decided to tell me a day beforehand. Not to mention I now had closed my business TWICE and lost income for both days now. It takes a lot for me to shut my salon down and tell my employees they can't take stylists, all to have wasted two months of time to be told he didn't feel like doing it. What a joke. I had another team come get the simple job done in a day and they also charged less than what I was quoted with canyon. STAY CLEAR of this business. Don't waste your time like I did.
