Here why (with details below): He OWNS the work and takes full responsibility for everything and fixes every mishap BEFORE you even ask; His primary subs (carpentry, electrical, flooring, trim) are all GREAT; he's one of the easiest, kindest, and most compassionate people I've worked with; and he knew when to tell me when an idea or suggestion I had was infeasible or too expensive. More deets: On OWNERSHIP and RESPONSIBILITY - Our shower glass walls were a little short. I didn't even know enough to know this was a solvable problem, but he made the third-party glass company take the segments back and replace them with segments that fit even more perfectly and beautifully. There we a couple of other instance and there was never accountability squirm.... Honestly that's unlike 95% of contractors. ADVICE - If the lighting wasn't going to work or look nice, he told you. If the switches we're in the wrong place in the blueprint, he told you. If a door or opening would have been better served with a pocket door instead of a swinging door, like into a bedroom closet, he told you. He told you nicely, politely, never insinuating that I did not know what I was doing or that the architect was bad or wrong. He'd just politely and slowly walk me through a few different scenarios and the real life placement of things and was 100% right in all of his corrective suggestions. The one time I did not listen to him and thought I knew better, after a few months I realized I was completely wrong. MAIN SUBS - Whenever his subs were scheduled to show up, they did, on time, always clean-cut and professional, smiling, and happy. They cleaned up EVERY DAY. Other previous contractors thought nothing of leaving trash on the floor or even dangerous nails when I had small children in the house. I think he is one of, if not, the BEST IN THE BUSINESS and I plan on doing more with him in the future.

The kitchen required removing a wall to open up the closed dark kitchen and adding an oversized bar. Eric was extremely timely and professional in getting us a comprehensive quote. He was also extremely affordable as well. He started work right away and did a phenomenal job. We gave him pictures of what we wanted for the kitchen and fireplace, and he replicated the style to a T - which most contractors can't do without a designer helping them. He also was able to design and order custom cabinets for our pantry. Eric was extremely detail oriented throughout the process, checking in with us as needed for style and safety decisions, and always updated us on cost or possible delays. He also was insanely knowledgable about every area of construction such as dry wall, plumbing, electrical, fabrication, flooring, tiling, etc. This guy really is a one man show - he can do it all. Eric did have a few subcontractors help him with the job and they were always fantastic to work with as well. He knows quality workmanship and partnership. Every day they were on site they kept the work area clean and protected the walk ways they'd be using throughout the home. They always let us know when they'd be back next; they were always on time. I'd certainly recommend them to anyone looking to remodel their home. I'm satisfied with the price we paid. We received several quotes and as anyone should tell you, cheaper is not always better. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive however, I went with them because they were the only company that made it clear that in some cases they may choose to not do business with a customer. I gave him a photo from an online add. He sketched the bed frame, build it, and installed it a week later. I, then hired him to frame and install 2 heavy doors from HD. He had to frame an opening that was to wide for my barn door. I had a barn door install to isolate the living room from the rest of the house for a business space. Richard and his crew also installed a new exterior glass front door to allow more natural light to enter my living room. I loved the results! First off, just to warn everyone, the ACTUAL contractor who is licensed would NEVER be doing any of the work that this company charges a premium rate for based upon their "award winning services " as stated on their website and other review sites. This is fiction. NO AWARDS EVER BESTOWED ON THIS COMPANY....EVER! They conduct their business under several ROC licenses. This makes them appear to be credible and legitimate. However, the licenses they operate under aren't even valid. No matter what Pam Grizzzell has to say it is a good idea to fact check any claims she makes. Even the response that she will give to this yelp review will be filed with vagueness and factual sounding disputes. Nothing verifiable. Snake oil salesmen. Slave drivers who are too greedy to even pay the people who Actually do the work.. Be careful. read more

The bulk of the project was done in eight weeks, including two significant change requests made by us: 1. The concrete floor was cracked and very uneven. My foreman identified this issue, told us how he would repair and level it, and then spent a few days pouring a new floor and leveling it. If he didn't address this floor issue our new to be installed engineered floors would have cracked over time. 2. We decided to paint almost the entire place well into the project, so work was delayed while the painters did this new work. What was great about the project: 1. The sales process was easy and reactive. Paul visited with us a number of times and helped with all of the planning. 2. We were assigned two interior designers. I worked closely with one, and she helped me pick out new appliances that had to fit into very tight places. She even told me that the appliance sales people I'd ultimately work with would try to correct me. Her recommendations were made with surgical precision, a centimeter in some cases. It was really impressive. 3. Their demolition crew was unbelievably efficient. They took this whole place apart in about nine total hours. The cleanup was impeccable. 4. The project manager engineered the entire thing. The workers knew what needed to be done, especially when he wasn't on site. 5. I met various workers and contractors. I was shocked by how good their work product was. The flooring person was excellent and extremely prescient. All of the workers really enjoyed working together, which was reflected in their work. I think this is also a reflection on how they liked working with Holtzman. 6. After the project was complete we met with a post-project coordinator afterwards, and told us what to do if we were at all unsatisfied. 7. When Holtzman contacted us with questions we provided immediate answers. There were a lot of decision points on material items, which I was happy to answer so the project stayed on course and details weren't skipped over. Every detail was addressed, and it shows. We have more projects in the works, and we expect to be working with Holtzman.

Stradling's Cabinets & Remodeling

Long review incoming!…read more We hired Stradling's to replace all of our kitchen cabinets along with adding a "coffee bar" cabinet to an empty wall. The process started by meeting with Emmy (our salesperson) and going over a design and pricing. We gathered a few quotes from multiple different companies and after much review, decided to proceed with Stradling's. Per Stradling's, 50% of payment is due in order for cabinets to get built and installation scheduled. We paid the 50% and had a very reasonable time frame for installation. Prior to install, the other 50% is due. To me that's a very odd practice but figured what the heck, and paid the balance in full (prior to any work being done). A week prior to installation, Emmy reached out and mentioned that one of the wall cabinets was incorrectly ordered and would delay the process just slightly. Original install date was still set but completion would be a little bit longer than expected. Not ideal but hey, no biggie. Install date comes and the installer (a sub contractor for Stradling's) was hard at work. Everything was chugging along with the exception of a few things. One being that one of the new floor cabinets was larger than the previous one, so they were going to shim it and elevate it compared to the other floor cabinets. This made a noticeable 1.5" elevation difference between the left side floor cabinet and right side floor cabinet. Thankfully I caught this and told the installer I would cut the floor tile that evening to ensure a proper fit. The following day they returned to complete what was left (minus the wall cabinet from earlier). This was good news because I had my countertop guy scheduled for two days later to get fabrication started. Well, here's where things got really interesting. Once Stradling's left for the day, my wife and I were inspecting everything and realized that our sink cabinet was 2" off center to the left from the kitchen window! This was a BIG deal obviously as having things centered is important. Thankfully Emmy was able to get her installer out the following day to fix this, but even more thankful that WE caught this (another issue that we had to point out) because if countertops had been fabricated and installed this would have been a catastrophic mistake! Finally got the countertops in and then the final wall cabinet was installed along with microwave and crown. The finished product was sloppy so we had them back out for the fine detail touch ups. In short, here's my closing thoughts. This company would benefit tremendously from having a superintendent follow up on the work performed by subs. The mistakes that we, the homeowners that are paying top dollar for this job, had to catch is unacceptable. If we did not catch these mistakes, this kitchen would have been a disaster. Luckily I'm a tradesman myself and caught these issues. The reason they get a 3 star versus a 1 or 2 is the responsiveness of Emmy and prompt nature of fixing their mistakes. While I would hope the mistakes never happen, the fact that they took care of it quickly helps. Additionally the final product was good. We are happy with our kitchen. Would I recommend Stradling's? 100% I would NOT recommend them. Nevertheless I hope they can improve from this job and learn from mistakes made.

Decided upon Stradling's Cabinets and Remodeling to assist us in our kitchen remodel. It was rough…read morefrom the beginning, but we were flexible. Strong, opinionated designer. When we got to the point of construction is when the true nightmare began. Construction plans were not followed which affected balance and use of kitchen. This was corrected. New cabinet were scratched and had to be replaced-with owner Mr. Stradling's approval. Grout color was completely a different color than our existing grout. We were told, " It would lighted up over time." They eventually replaced the grout so easily, we wondered why did we have to fight so hard to get it done! Nail heads show throughout our kitchen-still. We were told by owner that the cabinet company doesn't make a wax pencil in the cabinet color we chose and bought from Stradling's. That would have been nice to know ahead of time. They came to repair the nail heads 2-3 times only to make things worse. They "gleam" now. The designer, Margo told us that we were just being too picky about the nail heads showing. I have two pictures below, but there are more examples of nail heads throughout. Once, while bringing up a needed repair, she told us, " What do you expect? You didn't buy expensive cabinets." Which after spending over $30,000, it was like a knife in my heart. That really hurt ! Top trim is over shadowed by the cabinet doors. The top trim should extend out beyond the doors. Owner, Mr Stradling said, They do, it's just an illusion." Nope, it's not an illusion. Cabinet trims do not meet the back of the walls. They were cut too short. So, there are gaps. Some are left with empty space, some they filled with putty(?) Looks pretty bad. -See pictures. We just wanted the job done right without the delays, stress and anxiety. Stradling's were having issues with the contracted, and we had to pay the price! It was awful!!! We asked Stradling's owner to just please send someone else to our home to finish up, but there they were day after day making more mistakes that needed to be repaired. So upsetting. Well, they have their money now, so we have given up on anything being corrected. This was the last resort. Started bathroom remodel! Needless to say, we Did Not go with Stradling's.

We dealt with Al and everything seemed to be going fine except when he told me "we don't have enough wood". I was shocked because he measured and ordered the appropriate amount of wood needed. He's response was "dont worry about it." Good thing I had taken a picture of the wood that was dropped off at the house as as I would have had no proof when they didn't deliver all I had paid for. Had I not had proof I believe they would have tried to charge me for more wood. Turns out they failed to deliver 9 boxes that were paid for by me. OK. Mistake are made. I moved on. When we had to redo our shower in our second home in Tempe we immediately called Al as I still trusted him. Well, let me tell you it was a much different experience. The job was supposed to cost $7k. I wrote them a check for $4k on June 27. I was told it was a 10-14 day job including dropping off tile and materials. Guess when they STARTED? July 27. So they held on to my money for one month with no explanation. I have text after text to Al asking for info and barely being acknowledged. Excuse after excuse. Any time we asked for a status it was crickets. Apparently they thought because my son works at home that they could show up any time they wanted regardles of conference calls or meetings. I texted him on August 4 to please give us a status. Crickets. I texted him on August 7th that I understood he was busy but we needed to know that status. Crickets. He called me the weekend of the 16th (so12 days later) pants on fire but I was busy so didn't answer. No voicemail from him so apparently didn't seem too important. Then on Monday August 17th he texts my son that he thinks I blocked him. Is he ALRIGHT?!?! I've sent him multiple texts that he ignores and I'm blocking him? I sent him a text and said I'm on a conference call "what do you need?" No response. Another text to him. Crickets. Another one. Then my son texts him, "please answer my Mom's text". Then after four texts to HIM he finally says I wasn't aware of this group text and I never text anyone. (BULL SHITE). He has texted me dozens of time over the last six months. Again I text a fifth time " Ben said there's an issue with the grout". He says "No issue we're good. So two days later I found out they picked a grout they thought would be best (even though I have a picture of the grout we decide on June 27th. I said. I didn't ask you to choose the grout. We had decided on it. What color did you use. He REFUSED to tell me. He said go look at the bag at the house in Tempe (I'm in Queen Creek). So now he's just clearly being combative and an ahole. He tries to call me. I told him at this point I want everything in writing since there's been so many issues. Then he threatens to cancel the electrician and glass door install. OK. You want to threaten me? You refuse to tell me the grout you used and now you're threatening me? At that point I just said have your manager call me. He was biligerent with many texts I won't bore you with. So now I'm waiting for a call from his boss. I will gladly post the beligerent texts from him, I'm just worn out tonight. I don't take kindly to people who refuse to do the simplest things (like tell me the grout you used) and then threaten me. I would run not walk away from this company. They hire PM's that will drag out your project. They will try and act like they didn't order enough material (take pics for proof). Will refuse to keep you up to date with status. Then threaten to not finish your project when you are just asking for the grout they used (when you had already agreed on one). Its madness. Find another company. I sure will. I had planned to have them replace my quartz in my kitchen (very big kitchen and island), as well as the counter for my office cabinets and background. We also have to put a kitchen in our casita. They have probably lost $35-50k worth of business a direct result of Al's rude, unprofessional, and threatening bahvior.
