Been to this course a few times now. Recently played 18 and have noticed the greens play better. Personally this is probably my new home course since moving near by and I can't complain. The Marshall is also out and about, polite and talkative. The cart girl makes her rounds. Overall a nice course. Doesn't break the bank and has some beautiful holes on the water. In the past year I have had 3 really bad experiences at this course. It was time to write a review since no one at the course seemed to care. This past visit was a 5 hour 15 minute round, 5 hours the last time and 6 hours the time before that. The course Marshall is completely inept at his job. 11:15 tee time and zero carts available. We had to wait until our exact tee time when 2 carts came in. Those people were asked to exit the carts (had to haul all of their gear back to the car) and we entered the filthy carts. The two groups ahead of us had no idea what they were doing. After waiting forever to tee off on each hole, the group behind us finally gave up and left the course after hole 6. We never see the Marshall until late in the day and this was no different. He showed up at hole 13 which was already 3 groups backed up. As we sat he approached us to say things are backed up and argued how long it would take to complete 18. When we mentioned that this was the 3rd time we were going to have rounds lasting over 5 hours he not only called us liars but then proceeded to make political slurs at us. It is the Marshalls job to keep play moving. There are signs in the carts stating the expected time for each hole, how long to look for lost balls and that you may be asked to move on if you aren't keeping time. The last time we played he was parked in his cart under a tree. He said , the early morning groups went long so the afternoon would be backed up. No duh. Do your job! The course is challenging and could be fun. When you have to wait at every hole it really throws off the game. Such a disappointment. read more

First time playing here it was everything I expected and more! 11:40am tee time on a Saturday and the pace of play was awesome. Everthing was moving along well. The pro shop was nice and friendly and got me checked in quick. Paired with a three some and they were locals who also enjoyed playing. Overall as higher handicap it was a bit challenging for me but when you get it going its a nice course to appreciate regardless. Tee boxes were maintained and fairways were nice. The greens were the best tbh. Not too slow and a tad fast but challenging enough to make you want to work on your putting. The cart girl was great and made 3 rounds on the course which is rare to see on the peninsula as they either have someone or they dont on duty. I enjoyed the bunker on the 17 just because the sand was really nice. Playing the bay area I haven't hit beach like sand like I did in that bunker haha. Overall would come back with more friends. I need to try the food and brews since I heard it was good. Only thing I wish they had was club cleaners on the cart, but not a deal breaker from coming back! read more

This review is for the brewery only. As I wanted to go somewhere to watch the 49ers game. Staff was friendly and nice. Very attentive and came by often to check up on us to make sure we were enjoying the drinks and food. The food itself was decent but nothing to rave about. I enjoyed my sandwich but it was drying out my mouth so I did have to drink a lot more, not a complaint, since the beers there were good. The croissant beignets were really good. I recommend trying those out if you like sweets. read more

Inform customers the course is not in good shape. I felt I got robbed paying $65 to play this course. This use to be a very nice course. I invited a friend from out of town to play the course. I should have known something was wrong when I had front row parking for a 9:30 tee time. Walking to the first hole the course appeared to be in good shape. The first tee box was nice and the green on hole 9. Must be because these are the holes you can see as you walk to start your round. However these holes are deceiving. Once you start on the second hole the tee boxes are terrible, fairways have numerous dry mud areas and greens are deceased with dry patches and appeared to not recover from being punched. Locals must know to not play this course because after our round we had lunch outside for almost two hours. During this time I only seen two small groups tee off. The employees and food was the best part of this course. This was a very nice course years ago. I felt embarrassed because of the course conditions that after our round I gave my friend his $65 to try to make up for this terrible course. I never write a Yelp review, but had too after this experience. read more

Played the course today 10/28/25. The course is in horrible condition. Tee boxes felt like we were hitting out of the bunker on some holes because the amount of dirt and sand. Greens were very bad. Huge patches of dead grass and dirt on the greens! May not go back to this course for a while. read more

Played there September 2025. The course is a mud hole. What is weird is that with all the mud there are dead spots all over the greens and fairways. The greens are in bad shape with dead spots everywhere, and there is lots of dirt on the fairways and around the greens. The course is tough enough without the extra challenges. By the 10th hole we had an inch of mud stuck to our golf shoes, and the brushes by the ball cleaners were worthless because of the caked on mud. Price is right, but will not be going back. I hate giving negative reviews, but this course has potential and it just seems that maintenance is being neglected. read more

I rarely write reviews but in this case I felt compelled to. This course is the worst course I've played in years! When you pay $85 for a round there are certain expectations (well maintained tee boxes, fairways and greens). THIS COURSE HAD NONE FOR THAT!!! It took 2:30 hours just to finish the first 9 holes!?! It took us 5 hours to finish our round! The Marshall definitely wasn 't do his job. If I could give this course negative stars I would but I can't!! Don't waste your money$$$ I can play Callippe for less and its kept in immaculate shape. read more

Basically the course is in bad shape, plain and simple. You have to move your ball on most fairways to find grass. Tee boxes are over sanded. The greens are in good shape. Service was great. It's just tee to green is bad. It good be such a great course. read more

I'm an 11 handicap and have played the course several times, and have come to appreciate the challenge and the need for course knowledge. I played today and there were lots of muddy spots which is strange considering the water shortage. This is a significant course maintenance issue in addition to being a waste of water. We also had a run-in with a marshal who decided to park within driving range on 17, refused to move, and was very rude and condescending in telling us to speed it up despite the fact that the group behind us was not close and we were almost finished anyway. This person doesn't understand that we are your customers and his behavior does not reflect well on your business. read more

Finally got a chance to play this course two days ago. I'm still kicking myself for not coming here sooner after working down the street years ago. The staff at the course including the pro shop, beverage cart and snack bar could not have been any nicer. The Ace Amber beer (which was recommended to me) at the turn was perfectly refreshing. The course itself is definitely one of those places that you would need to play multiple times to understand where you can miss. This is especially true of the first par 5 on the back nine. Considering the difficulty of some of these holes, I would only recommend this place to experienced golfers. While some of the greens and bunkers could use some work, the greens were running nicely overall. Another important piece of information would be the need to rent a cart for the round. While the course itself doesn't have too many crazy elevation changes, some of the walks from green to tee were pretty significant. I would only recommend walking this course to those that are already in great shape and looking to get some cardio in! read more

1st star - Pace of play is great. Groups allow to skip often, spaced out well. Staff friendly as well 2nd star - Course Layout. fun & challenging. Ton of blind tee shots and a lot of hilly-sloped terrain left to right, and vice versa. Good features too. Almost every green is guarded with bunkers or water. Love that. -- BUT. for $80 prime time-- Nah. This is a $45-55 course max. Condition is shit. tee boxes are either diseased or weathered beyond repair? Fairways are about 60% good condition. Maybe. I attached pictures. Greens - Front are inconsistent to the back. Front bumpy, but rolled slow. Back - Fast as all hell. Cement play (and it's never a warm day when we play) Whoever the greenskeeper is-- fill your cups better. too many unrepaired and bumper "old holes" Will be back- Gotta get in the 70's read more

Was able to play a round at San Ramon over Thanksgiving week. It was my first time here, but I was playing with a few who have played here a lot. That was definitely really valuable just so that they can kind of generally tell my friend and me--he was also new to the course--where the trouble is. I found that the holes were overall really fair yet challenging. There were significant uphill shots at times, but it never quite felt like it wasn't for a reason or that it required a one-in-ten chance of being a good shot. At the same time, I found that essentially every hole was interesting to the eye and interesting to play. There certainly was not an issue of just smashing it out there straight and getting bored of the repetition. Pace of play was great; we essentially never had to wait, and we didn't have anyone breathing down our necks. I will say that there are a decent amount of trees lining the side of the course; I would definitely know, because I found myself in them more times than I would like to admit (let's just say I didn't shoot a 65 here). On the flip side, though, often the sides are hill-lined--but in a good way. Sometimes on errant tee shots or even on purposeful irons, you can play the ball off slopes and they will funnel kind of back into the fairways. It doesn't always work; sometimes balls get caught up there, but more than a handful of times, some of my terrible shots were saved. However, there is certainly a decent amount of trouble and OB; I often found that the left side of fairways had good amounts of bushes (definitely some nasty stuff you don't even want to venture into). My friend and I played horrible cart golf at times with him deep in a valley on the left hitting through trees and with me on the right trying to hit recovery shots back into the fairway right next to all the houses and apartments that line the course, giving it kind of a more luxurious feel. Greens were overall pretty fast but true. I putted pretty well, but there a good amount of holes cut into the slope and thus required good touch. The only negative was that the bunkers were occasionally a bit firm and lacking in sand; some were just flooded from the rain, but that's definitely understandable. They definitely could be more fluffy or just have more sand in them, which I know isn't as easy as it sounds. I would recommend using a cart at this course. There are times in between holes where the walkways--especially crossing the major street--are quite long. Oh yeah, if you eat in the restaurant after, get the garlic tater tots. Insane amount of tots on the plate. Awesome. read more

Oh boy, just went to book a round on Saturday, they are now charging, wait for it...$93 bucks!!! They are clearly out of their minds if they think people will pay $93 for a maybe $70 course. The condition of the course does not warrant $93, what are they thinking?? If anything, I'd pay an extra $15 and play Bridges. Looks like I'll be finding another Go-To golf cousre that is a bit more reasonable on rates that justify the course conditions. read more

This course is in horrendous shape. Sad to see: -Major dead patches in all fairways -dozens of mud pits around cart paths (often times closest to tee boxes and greens where you want to park and exit the cart) -Tee boxes are not level, divots have not been sanded or repaired -Greens are bumpy, inconsistent, and very low stimp -Bunkers are not groomed nor cared for. We played at 8am on a Sunday and there were untamed footprints all over the place. They clearly had not been tended to in days. All of this and they still charged $84. It was probably worthwhile for half of that rate. read more

The best round of golf I have experienced in 2023! The staff in the pro shop, the marshal (John) is one of the happiest, helpful and just overall a great Marshall! He even gave us a brief history of the course as we waited a short time at the tee box. Checked on us as we enjoyed our round. No ambassador on course for at least the front 9 EVEN after I called (Chrissy) at the 7th tee to identify a serious backup of golfers waiting to tee off. Went in to the pro shop and Reagan offered me a $4 credit. 18 is $47 and the issues brought up were legitimate and not dealt with and unfortunately the course management (Reagan followed course policy as Jim the manager did not return Reagan's text/call) while I was in the pro shop). I play this course about 2-3x month. A 6 hour round on a Thursday morning with great weather is unacceptable, especially with Marshall out helping to improve pace of play. Instead of taking an embarrassing $4 credit I feel that a Yelp review was on order. I know darn well that this course can and will do better. read more

This public golf course is one of the more interesting ones in the area by far. I'd found out about them several years ago because their attached brewery made a showing at a local Pleasant Hill beer festival (I'll get to the beers shortly). I finally made a tee time this past weekend and played a twilight round. The green fees weren't bad but be aware that they charge $12 per rider for a cart. Grounds are relatively well maintained and the greens are in decent shape. The course itself loops through many pleasant neighborhoods so carts are definitely a plus but each hole is designed well and the layout keeps it from getting too boring. Only down side is no driving range and the practice green is very small. Book early, but then any golfer knows that by now. Nothing else to do during COVID so it tends to be busy. Book two weeks out. The beer is pretty good too! I got some seasonal ones and they were well priced and tasty. It's unique and they take brewing seriously. Makes the 19th hole much better haha will definitely come here again. read more

With that said, I was kind of impressed and a little scared that if more folks know, they'll be overrun by folks going for happy hour, but I guess I wouldn't be a good Yelper if I didn't let people know. So there, I've said it...this is my go to happy hour spot in San Ramon for the food and price. L O C A T I O N I didn't know this place existed to be honest, but apparently the brewery just opened this past weekend but the golf course was here for a while. It's located off of Bollinger Canyon about 5-10 minutes from 680. Hung's Kitchen is nearby if you know the area. Parking seems to be okay. I was able to find a spot though there were a lot of cars at 5pm on a weekday. I N T E R I O R Very spacious, with a lot of wooden tables and great for groups as we were there to have happy hour with some friends and colleagues. It can get loud though and when it does get quiet...it's dead quiet... M E N U I didn't really take a look at their normal menu and focused primarily on the Happy Hour menu. They had a variety of items (12 in fact) that ranged from $5-$7. All their beers are house draft and a glass is $4 for happy hour! Sampler of 4 beers at 3 oz (I think) was $8 which is what I got. I'm not going to list out all the beer I had, but I'll not a couple. Tea'd Up did not meet my expectations as it was less Arnold Palmer than anticipated. Chunky Bunker was my winner because it actually did smell and taste of peanut butter and had this dessert like quality that I appreciated. ~ Fries ~ This was the star for me. It was super crispy and cooked to perfection. I would solely come back for just the fries. ~ Onion Rings ~ Perfection. They were battered and not janky looking. But perhaps a bit too battered for me? ~ Fried Zucchini ~ The sauce for the fried zucchini was flavorful, a little spicy and went well with all our other fried goods. The zucchini breading was more panko or bread crumbs which paired well with the steamy hot zucchini which be careful is very hot. So cut into them to blow steam out. ~ Fried Chicken Sliders ~ Nice and crispy! There was a herb yogurty sauce that paired well with the chicken sliders and the bread was nice and toasted...I think even grilled! ~ Pulled Pork Sliders ~ Another really great dish though the bread for both of the sliders felt thick, the meat inside did feel proportioned with it...maybe...but the pulled pork could've been more tender, but the bbq flavor was a good contrast to all the other flavors on the table. ~ Bacon Macaroni & Cheese ~ This was a snooze for me. The pasta was a bit undercooked for me and nothing spectacular. I've had spectacular mac & cheese. I would just pass on this. ~ Chicken Quesadilla ~ I loved the salsa that came with this chicken quesadilla. Everything else was standard. That salsa would be great if they had some warm thin tortilla chips like Chevy's and I say Chevy's because I love their thin warm chips. S E R V I C E Our server was great and very attentive. He filled our waters when they were low. Took away plates. Made sure we had our drinks and 20 minutes before closing the kitchen, asked if we wanted any more food. He was fabulous. The other staff also had a great sense of humor and were quite nice about us staying past closing. O V E R A L L I would definitely go back again. Who knew this place existed? First, shout out to Carolen M for bringing this new brewery on the Yelp radar. The Brewery is a bit hard to find but if you drive along Bollinger Canyon Way you'll see signs directing you to a large parking lot on your right. The brewery is in one of the buildings in front of you, overlooking the golf course. I came here for an afternoon, post-workout lunch and it wasn't too busy. The brewery is very spacious with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of TVs too. According to my waiter (he looks a little like actor Jon Lovitz!), the brewery re-opened about a month ago and is quickly getting popular with the golfers and San Ramon community. They brew over 10 draft beers on site and have decent menu for lunch and happy hour. I normally don't drink beer in the afternoon, but Yelp check-in offered a free (!) draft beer with entree. I got the Chunky Bunker (5.8 ABV, 27 IBU), a nice darker beer with smooth taste of peanut butter and chocolate. My entree was the mushroom swiss burger with fries. The burger was loaded with avocados, tomato, garlicky mushrooms, and was incredibly juicy. My only complaint is that the focaccia bun was maybe a bit too small and soft to hold it all together so it was a bit messy to eat. Glad I grabbed a knife and fork as backup! Still, I liked the burger. Fries were crispy and seasoned well. Solid 4 stars. I'm definitely a fan of this place and think over time, it'll get extremely popular not just with golfers, but with locals and all the business folks too for happy hour and lunches. They have a massive parking lot and they views here on a sunny day are hard to beat! read more

They have plenty of water as it's mushy in some areas of overwatering. The holes are nice looking and challenging and nicely laid out. But the place is run down and disappointing overall. read more

Not sure where these people reviewing this course are playing, but I live here and the 13th tee is DISGRACEFUL! They are letting trees DIE, cutting down healthy trees, killing the grass between the men's and women's tees, killing the grass behind the homes. As I said we live here and it used to be beautiful, until the new owners came in and have let it go! All they care about is their brewery! I've uploaded an old photo and a current one. The course is alright but some staff suck. Paid $36 to play 18 and my group booked the final tee time of the day. Some kid from the pro shop got in behind us and was upset that we were "slow" he didn't realize the course is slow and it takes about 3 hours for the front nine. He came up to us and was rude for no reason. We also got food at the turn and the staff didn't seem too happy to serve us. The course is mediocre for the price and the staff ensure that I won't be there again. read more

OMG, what happened to the greens? the greens used to be in great shape. The greens keeper has no clue what he is doing and ruining this course. If it wasn't for covid this course would be out of business. I really don't know why the owner would not want to hire a proper greens keeper and fix the greens. Too many tee times, Took our group 3 hours to play 9 holes last Saturday April 6th. Had to wait every hole.

My friends and I play golf together every Friday. We usually play at the Alameda Fairgrounds. Because of horse racing, the Fairgrounds Course is closed for 9 weeks. In its place, we played at Canyon Lakes Golf Course this past Friday. We've played there before when the fairgrounds is closed for the Alameda County Fair. This week was especially disappointing. The course was backed up from the moment we stepped onto the first tee. This isn't unusual at golf courses. Our Tee time was 1:30 but we didn't tee off until 1:45. There were six of us. We played in two teams (4/2). By the third whole we were always together and started playing together (6 of us). The marshall came by at hole 7 and shouted at us that we were holding up the entire golf course by playing with six players. You could clearly see we were waiting for the foursome in front of us to clear the fairway and that foursome was waiting for the foursome in front of them to clear the green. This man was yelling at us about how stupid we were. He threatened to put one of us in his cart to break up the six of us. Never once did he approach the men in front of us to pick up and move on. He chose to blame women for the slow down at the course and threaten us with violence/kidnapping - which is all I can think of to label his threat. We will not be back to Canyon Lakes. We will take our golf dollars, food dollars, drink dollars and gift shop dollars else where. If you are female, please do not golf at Canyon Lakes!!!! read more

I've been playing here a lot this year. I'm giving this 4 stars because this is a heavily trafficked Muni course. Based on some reviews you'd think this was a Country Club. 1st it's decently priced $74 with a cart. That's a good deal in the Bay Area. 2nd the grounds are in okay shape. Yes the tee boxes are somewhat beat and several of the bunkers aren't bunkers but huge cavities of mud. It does appear they're in the process of repairing these. The greens are in decent shape as well. Except 4 has had a huge chunk cut out of it at times. Not sure what was going on there. Overall, for the amount of traffic this place gets it's good enough and I enjoy the layout of the course. 3rd the worst part of this course is the pace of play. The day after Thanksgiving it took us 3 hours to play 9 holes. We left and didn't play the back 9. They do have some awesome Marshals and I've seen them kick people off for not picking up the pace. However, they don't always seem to be out Marshalling. This is the one area that I really can't deal with. Play at a decent pace or get off the course. 4th the beer is pretty good. This is a golf course and a brewery and they sell all of their beers on the cart. So you can get some decent brews while you're playing... or waiting for the foursome of beginners taking 5 minutes to practice and then whacking the ball 10 feet directly to the right. In the end, I play here regularly because I can get a good tee time (recommend as early as you can). It's not Wente or Poppy, but it's a decent Muni. read more
