Great place for a 2-3 day retreat. Dog-friendly (on leash required). The customer service responds quickly, and check-in/check-out are smooth and easy. This year's water level is historically low (since the 1960s), so direct swimming access to the water is nearly impossible. Boat ramp closed. However, the view is still spectacular. We also appreciate the grill spots -- we saw previous complaints about the grills -- honestly, we don't quite understand why they are being so picky with the public grill spots lol... I can tell they have tried their best to manage/clean. A/C works well, especially at night! Not much noise created. All the fire pits were upgraded and well-maintained. Some things to be careful with: 1/ Some weeds in the grass can be sticky and painful to pick off. Be careful walking in grass near the cabins (wear water shoes). 2/ Some dogs may be reactive to people/other dogs (barking). But everyone was very respectful. 3/ Didn't try the swimming pool; it looks a little muddy. 4/ Coffee station not working well. We noticed from others' reviews and brought our own coffee boiling pot with pour makers. They also didn't provide milk/coffee mate. 5/ Pillows are not quite comfortable. read more

Can't believe it's been 10 years since my first stay at Canyon Lakeview Resort. Instead of a group of 40, we were about 24 adults, a few kiddos, and a handful of furbabies. And just like last time, it was a great stay. I'm not sure if I noticed their amenities last time or if they added on facilities in the last decade, but a few things to know: o There is a giant, we're talking massive swimming pool that's 3"5 deep all the way around. As a shawty, I appreciate that. There's plenty of seating, pergolas for much-needed shade. No restrooms at the pool. o Volleyball court o A main lodge area/event space, perfect for family reunions and such. o There's a "motel" also onsite. o It's dog-friendly, with a max of two dogs per cabin and a $25 deposit per pet per night. o Amazing sunsets, direct lake access for swimming or boating, grilling areas, and "The Point" which is a great spot for a nightcap and handing with friends/family. As for the cabins, once again our group reserved five of their six cabins that each come equipped with two decks overlooking Canyon Lake, a hot tub, multiple bedrooms, living spaces, fireplaces, full kitchens.... Note that some cabins may have a studio-style room with no wall. Our AC was kickin' and there was plenty of hot and cold water. Only gripe is the living room seating in our cabin, Cabin F. The chairs stunk like BO. My guess is that guest sit on them with wet river clothes... hope they steam them. read more

Do not stay here. Looks like ongoing issues years back that they refuse to address. The pool has no real pump to clean it. They have portable pumps around trying to pump and clean the water but the pool is wayyyy too big for those tiny pumps. Also, there is algae on the sides of the pool so it's clearly not being brushed. We have a pool so we know the maintenance process. The property has not been well maintained. The "grills" are atrocious, dirty, and unusable. The microwave in our room was filthy and hadn't been cleaned. We had 5 people and stayed in a room for 6 people. There were only 3 forks. No mittens for the oven. And no can opener. The bathroom needs a serious remodel. It's obvious they don't dust the picture frames as there was dust and grime on them. The refrigerator was not cold at all. Due to the photos and accommodations on the website, we had bought groceries prior to our arrival. The lake levels do not allow access from the area so we had to drive to Comal Park. It was all just a mess and we didn't want to stay but we drove 4.5 hours with our kids. read more

Well what do I start? The resort hotel is not well lit. We have to walk down some dark stairs hoping we wouldn't fall. The air condition works but it will still hot in our room where we had the party because there's no door to close off to keep the air in. There is no way to get a wheelchair up to the room. Some men had to lift a lady all the way up the stairs to get her to the room. The whole neighborhood is black because they don't have outside lights it looks like you are driving through a cave. Stayed for a weekend. As of 8/27/23, the lake is 17 feet low. There was no easy swimming, paddle boarding, or kayaking from the resort. There is a steep rock face you can climb down to access the water if you are daring. We drove to a local beach to swim. There was no hot water in our unit for showers, the sinks, or the dishwasher. Either the shower or toilet upstairs leaks water and drips on anyone standing at kitchen sink. The unit had many cobwebs, so we called and asked for spot cleaning. Someone found a leftover toothbrush and toothpaste in a bed stand, so the cleaning isn't very thorough. The pool was closed for maintenance. It was neat to hand feed the friendly deer. If I were going to visit Canyon Lake again while it is this low, and if I wanted to swim, I would look for an Airbnb near Canyon Park. read more

Very disappointed upon arrival. The pool is a disgusting cloudy green. Our cabins AC consists of 2 window units. No towels in any of the bathrooms. Broken fridge. Broken dishwasher. Lots of cobwebs in the floor corners. Streets and walkways are not lit up. Lots of broken lights in the cabins. The price is ridiculously priced for the lack of amenities. BEWARE! I booked a room to stay for 2 nights because the website boasts beautiful photos of lake front swimming and we were prepared to spend three days swimming in the lake. The lodge cabin we were in was very nice, but there is no beach or swimming due to low lake levels. Also the swimming pool was being shocked when we got there and needed to sit for 24 hours before allowing swimmers in. We opted to play volleyball, but no balls were provided. Four hours after our arrival we asked to leave and be refunded or at least be given a discount. We booked through hotels.com, who also tried the first night to reach management to give us a refund. No apologies, explanations or refund, or even amending the misleading website were given by the Lakeview Resort. The location is wonderful with wildlife and woods, but was not what we had signed up for. read more

Where do I start? The resort wasn't very informative on checking in. We didn't receive a pamphlet with the lay out, directions to our cabin, what the amenities or take did not take our vehicle information. Just a verbal code to the cabin. We stayed in cabin F which sleeps 12 Saturday night. Comes with one king size bed, four full size bed, and pull out sofa bed. The beds all sank and the pillows were didn't hold any volume. The cabin did smell clean but the vents, air filter, ceilings, ceiling fans, corners were very dusty. Kitchen lights, top back room lights, different plugs didn't work. The basic amenities such as soap, coffee, can opener and a full set of cups were nonexistent. The back patio had food crumbs on the picnic table and floor. Not all the jets in the hot tub work and the step to enter was not high enough for someone elderly or may have a physical disability. The reason why I'm pointing out all these items is for the amount we paid, it did not meet our expectations. The property is in need of attention. The pool is absolutely disgusting. It was lime green with foam floating on top of the water. When management was asked about it, they said we could swim in it. I completely understand that they have no control over the lack of water in the lake, however, people coming from out of town don't know this and having an unusable pool was a total let down. We spent a lot of money on several rooms and feel like we were ripped off because this property is in no way a "resort". We had to pack up our swimming gear, drive 20 minutes to Comal Park, and pay $20 each day to get into the park so we could get in the water. The grass on the property was extremely high but after it was reported, someone came to cut it. In our room, the stopper in the bathroom sink was glued down. We had to have some come address it because water would not drain. In the cabin my aunt was staying in, the ceiling fan fell from the ceiling. Lucky for them, no one was hurt. The oven in my cousin's room didn't work. The air conditioner in my other cousin's room went out. It was a series of problems throughout the weekend. There is no office or staff onsite. Don't waste your money here. Stay at the Holiday Inn Resort on the other side of the lake if you're looking for something in this area. read more

Not worth the money. The hike to the water is about 8 minutes and pretty steep. No shade near the water and its very rocky. The views are beautiful but the room left way too much to be desired. The carpet was so torn up the bedroom door couldn't be closed so we tried to close the curtains but they were falling apart, stained and broken. The refrigerator was broken and leaking inside which soaked our pizza so we couldn't eat it (gross), 1 light bulb was out in the tiny dark bathroom and the hall light didn't work at all, the toaster didn't work, and the "plastic" couch had holes in it. We checked out Canyon Lakeview Resort for a weekend getaway. While the resort is in Canyon Lake, New Braunfels is super close. After driving down some residential roads, you come to the resort. Our cabin was pretty cool. It was basically an apartment with a living room area (with a TV), kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom area. Not super fancy but had that rustic, cabin feel. We got in pretty late but the weather was perfect. Outside our cabin, there's a long patio that you share with other cabins. There are some swings so we sat out on the patio and relaxed. Being from Houston, it was pretty cool to actually be able to see stars in the sky with clarity. Not as easy to do in Houston. We ventured off during the day so we didn't spend much time on the property but the time we did is a highlight. There are a bunch of deer that hang out in the grassy area next to the patio. They give you some deer food in your room so you can go out and feed the deer! It was such a cool experience. The deer will eat right out of your hand! They're truly beautiful creatures. It's a memory we will never forget! During the reservation process, management was friendly. We had no issues whatsoever. A great spot for a relaxing weekend! read more

Just returned from a fabulous long weekend at Canyon Lakeview Resort. Two of us stayed in the downstairs lodge suite and there was plenty of room. The suite is a little strange in the sense that there is no tv in the bedroom, only in the kitchen, and there is a couch/murphy bed in the kitchen area that stands up-right if not used. The shared porch area was lovely, overlooked the water and attracted the friendly deer that will literally eat out of your hand. It was too cold to swim, but there is a swim area designated for the property that looks great for warmer weather. We will definitely be returning with friends so we can stay in the Cathedral cabins that looked really fun (with a hot tub)! There are BBQ pits and fire pits everywhere, as well as a peacock exhibit. So many great aspects of our stay... The location is close to River Road (a fun drive down to New Braunfels), and multiple vineyards! There is a full kitchen, bunk beds, and tons of pillows. The staff (Micky) sent us text messages with recommendations for local areas. Overall, it was a peaceful and great experience! read more

I feel totally refreshed and relaxed after our trip to this resort over the weekend. December weather in Texas can be a bit unpredictable, but we lucked out and got perfect weather. The winter is the slow season for them and rates are a bit cheaper during these months. My bf bought a Groupon or Living Social which included a two night weekend stay in the lodge and a non-reserve tasting at the Dry Comal Creek Vineyards located about 20 minutes away. There is no real check-in. You're emailed a code and when you arrive you just unlock the door and walk right in. The lodge definitely wasn't full when we visited and when we arrived it seemed like we were the only people there. We were able to open a bottle of champagne, sit in the porch swing and enjoy watching the stars. I highly recommend the upstairs lodge rooms over the downstairs because the view of the lake is great. As for the accommodations, the lodge rooms are essentially a small, one bedroom apartment. There is a couch and at TV that we never turned on. There are plates, utensils, cups, and wine glasses in each room in the fully furnished kitchen. The bedroom had a comfy king bed with options for fluffiness of pillow. Everything was clean and pretty basic. My only complaint would be that the walls are quite thin. It was a non-issue for us because our neighbors were quiet, but I could see how inconsiderate neighbors might negatively affect the experience. We walked down to the lake and explored. We even happened to catch a holiday boat parade the weekend of our stay. My boyfriend was obsessed with feeding the deer. There is deer food on top of the fridge and they left additional food on the patio tables on Saturday morning. There is also a cage of peacocks. Our stay was short, so we only left to go to the winery and out to dinner for Italian at Gennaro's about 10 minutes up the road. If you're looking for a no frills kind of relaxing getaway, I highly recommend this place. We fully intend to return next year. read more

For Christmas, our daughter gifted us a 2 night lodge stay here. We had to book it during the week, so it was relatively quiet. Not many other guests, and that was fine with us. We upgraded to a cabin, which was very spacious. The customer service was EXCELLENT. Very accommodating, courteous, and friendly. A nearby grocery store had everything that we needed to host a small getaway. I would definitely recommend the cabin - balcony views, hot tub, secluded area, walk to lake, private bbq area, provided much needed serenity. What a beautiful and amazing place! I stumbled on this lovely getaway location after browsing on Livingsocial and saw that they had a deal, and there were pictures of people feeding deer. I mean how often do you get to feed a deer? Upon arriving here my first thoughts were "is this a motel?" and "where the heck do I even park?" because the exterior resembled a motel and they didn't have a designated parking lot (except for this little sign that said "guest parking" hung on a fence). The upstairs room had a beautiful view of the lake and attached with a wooden swing and table on the porch. The interior resembled a hotel room with a country flair; simple wooden furniture, tacky fabric and outdated appliances, accommodated with a living room area, kitchen area, bathroom and private bedroom. However, the room felt homey because of the arrangement and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessities (utensils, paper towels, plates, pots/pans, dishwasher pods, BBQ tools, etc.). The only things you probably need to bring are napkins, clothing detergent and an iron. Not sure why but they didn't have an iron in the closet even though they had other appliances like coffee pot, fridge, dishwasher, etc. But the staff is extremely nice and accommodating if you need anything (ex: iron) and you can contact them directly via text and get a prompt response. They will also send a text with the lock code for your room so you won't need to check in. Check out is also painless because you can just text them to let them know that you are leaving. Even my booking was easy because Jackie was so helpful and answered all my questions. Now for the good part! Every morning they place a deer feed bag on the table on the porch so you can feed the deer. The deer usually gather in front during morning and early afternoon, and they are usually just wandering around the camp area. Word of caution, they looove the feed! They're also super friendly, but some can be a little skittish. There are fire pits and grills scattered throughout the area that are perfect for smores and BBQ. The peacocks/peahens (security birds) were also a delight! On the side of the group cabins you can also walk down to the lake and walk to a small cliff overlooking the lake. Swimming is not allowed, but there are a few marinas nearby with boat and jet ski rentals.I booked my stay for early April and the weather was a little chilly at the time so we didn't get to try the pool next to the parking area. So sorry for the super long review, but I just wanted to share my knowledge and experience so everyone can have a wonderful time on their first time here. The only downfall of this place is the drive here is really long from neighboring cities like New Braunfels and San Marcos. You also have to drive into a big neighborhood to get the the resort, which is located all the way inside. But once you get here, you'll love the view, the breeze, the deer, and just almost everything else. I assume that it will be busier during the summer, but I plan to come back here with a big group and hopefully enjoy the hot tubs in the cabins. read more

Comal Cabin: Three bedrooms is a stretch since the "master" with the King size bed is completely open to the rest of the downstairs with NO privacy at all. The two upstairs rooms are open at the top so you can hear everything that is happening in each room which provides little privacy. The ceilings were very dusty with giant spider webs, the downstairs couch was very old and hard to get out of. The pool was not filled when we were there so that was an amenity that was no accessible to us. We purchased a groupon that was supposed to include wine tastings, but they were not in the groupon which was frustrating. I would not pay full price for this location. read more

A perfect get away place with friends and family. The copper roof private cabin was beautifully designed. It reminded me of inside of Noah's Ark. Walls and ceilings were lined with pine and smelt great. There are two levels, and both levels have decks extended out to see the lake view. The cabin was huge and sleep up to 12 people. We had a really fun New Year celebration there. The cabin has the best view of the lake. It came with a giant hot tub, full size kitchen, 2 bathrooms (downstairs and upstairs), three bedrooms plus one additional bed that can be pulled out in the living for more people. There were lots of deer and they were not shy of people. They ate straight from my hand. The cabin provided deer feed. The resort also has three peacocks. They were more shy compared with the deer. Very easy access to the water. It was a nice and easy hike around the lake. Next time I would take some fishing gear. read more

We found a Groupon for this cozy resort right on the lake and were quite pleased with our stay. We stayed in a lodge which offers a cabin with a living room, kitchen, full bathroom and separate bedroom. Just off the cabin's front door is the patio that includes a table with chairs and a porch swing, which overlooks the lake where you can watch the sun come up. The water is just a short walk down the hill and is super clear. It's a rocky area so, be sure to have water shoes on! We went in the winter and were still able to enjoy some of the amenities, one of which, was being able to hand feed deer! They are so sweet and just come right up to you and eat right out of your hand. (Mgmt leaves deer food in all of the cabins) Additionally, we took advantage of the propane grill where we cooked up some delicious steaks and the fire pit, where we made smores. I can see how this place would be fun in the summer. They offer a sand volleyball court and a swimming pool as well. The only thing I think needs some improvement is the cabins themselves. They are very dated and not the cleanest. Other than that, we had a good time. read more

Misrepresentation is the best word to describe this place. It is not a resort, it is a glorified campground that is under construction. Upon arrival, we had to walk through a party of people in the yard to get to our unit. There was no ice machine or person on the premises. When the party went loudly through late hours of the night into the wee hours of the morning, I texted the number that sent me instructions on how to get into our unit at 10:30 to let them know that the party was getting louder and they said no music is allowed after 10:00. The pool was too murky to swim in. The rocky beach is a joke - its not a beach, just come steep rocks to descend to get into a small point of access in the water, which was clogged up with another party when we arrived, so we couldn't access the water from the "resort." Not only that, to get to the steep rocks, you have to walk through other people's areas and disturb them, as if you are in a campground. The A/C condensate line dripped right into the bathtub. If you had wanted to take a bath (gross, dirty bathtub), you would have had to have condensate fall right into your bath. Instead, if fell on my head while I took a shower and bent over to pick up the soap. I could hear the people above me snoring during the night. The "fully stocked kitchen" would better be described as a barely stocked kitchen. 2 small wineglasses and 3 coffee cups as well as a 5 wet plates and some wet bowls isn't what I consider fully stocked. The drip coffee maker makes one cup at a time if you bring your own filters, which we had to go buy because we didn't realize we were going to a campground. There is not even a luggage rack to put your suitcase on in the bedroom, not to mention that there isn't any chest of drawers or place to store your clothes while there. We set our suitcase on the floor of the closet and used a flashlight to sort through it because there isn't a light in the closet. The bedside table, which is actually a dorm sized refrigerator, is a complete admission that the "fully stocked kitchen" refrigerator isn't anywhere near large enough to store even your basic stuff. There is one rack in the bathroom to hang your towel on with 2 more small hooks on the floor of the bathroom closet that were improperly installed and apparently fell off when someone else was there. Pro Tip: Put shelving in the bathroom closet for clothes storage or at least a place to be able to put toiletries. I had to store my toiletries on the closet floor of the bathroom. Pro Tip: Add Clean Doors and Baseboards to the cleaning list so that you don't have construction dust buildup inside the place. And, the water pressure is so bad - you need to really hold down the flush to make sure that the toilet empties. It was full when we arrived with who knows who's last pee. The faucet on the sink moves when you turn it on and off. This place really has some nerve to charge more than $60 a night since they are basically inferior to Motel 6 and Crane's Mill Campground costs $30 a night. Do yourself a favor - stay somewhere else. read more

We stayed in one of the cathedral cabins (cabin A). We are a family with two adults and three kids ages 18 months to 9 years old. PROS The area is lovely and it was nice to walk down to the gorgeous lake. Cabin A is off by itself so you have plenty of privacy. The whole family loved feeding the deer and were very impressed with the lake views from the decks. The cabin itself is fully stocked with pots/plates etc. There is even a dishwasher so you don't have to spend a lot of time washing dishes on vacation. The entire cabin was very clean and the fridge was spotless inside. CONS Our cabin had a weird layout with the "master" just being a king bed right when you enter the cabin. There is no privacy for that bed. If you are sharing the cabin with more than one family I would suggest getting one of the cabins that has a private master. The sofa in the living room (which is very small) was laughably bad. When you sat on the side you sank into the middle and could barely get up. The bed linens also need a little updating. Our sheets were so thin you could almost see through them and the king pillows had standard pillowcases on them so the end of the pillow wasn't covered. We were given the option to have a fire in the fire place and this was an additional $25 charge. I thought it was nice to have but that seemed pretty pricey and could have been included given the cost of the cabin. Overall, I was very happy with our stay and would definitely stay there again. read more

Hubs and I spent an amazing weekend at Canyon Lakeview Resort. When we arrived, (very late at night), we had no issues parking or getting checked in (code lock on door) and we were very pleasantly surprised to find our cozy, well-stocked suite. And a super comfy bed. We woke up to a beautiful view of the lake the next morning, and deer waiting to say hello! They provide you with deer food which is so thought and feeding them was fantastic. We spent the day enjoying the view with our dogs (yes they don't discriminate against good dog owners!), enjoying the grounds, going for a swim, and resting on the porch. That night we built a campfire, cooked dinner on a open fire and roasted marshmallows. We did some star gazing (you could see star 'as clear as day'), went for an evening stroll to enjoy the breeze and then to bed in our comfy bed. We were sad to leave the next day...so we are already booking our next visit! Canyon Lake and New Braunfels is a popular destination for locals and tourists, especially in summer season. It is thoroughly as enjoyable, if not more so, on the off seasons. And to entice you, they offer great promotions through Groupon, Living Social, Amazon Local. A great place if you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Mostly we were here in the evening after going to explore the area. We stayed in the main building which had a great view of the property and the lake. The room was very clean and welcoming. I was really surprised at how spacious it was. Staff there was very friendly and offered any help that we needed. I loved the sink and thought of it as its own work of art. The trail to the lake was full of things to see and hear. My friend and I were able to have a nice bbq with the grill they provided and then relax and enjoy some wine and good conversation outside on the patio as we watched the deer get fed by the people in the room below. I wish the pool had been ready when we went but I'm sure it will make a great addition once it is completed. I had to rewrite a review! First of all I need to say that the customer service at this resort is great! The people who work here take good care of you through the whole process of taking your reservation all the way down to the day you check out. I am extremely satisfied with our whole stay. This was my first time up to Canyon Lake. I really didn't know what to expect. The drive up was awesome. It was basically in the middle of nowhere. The resort looked lovely as we drove up. Our room was BIG! Wasn't what I was expecting at all. It included a full kitchen, pretty decently sized bathroom, two closets, two flat screen TVs, a couch, and the most amazing bed with amazing pillows! The pillows were so comfy that I went home and bought my own set. The deer experience was quiet cool! There was a plastic tub of our own deer food in the room. When feeding the deer they would come right up to your hand. If you aren't looking to stay in the Canyon Lake area, the drive to both Austin and San Antonio isn't bad what so ever! We had a wonderful, relaxing, romantic weekend in one of the private cabins. Beautiful scenery! The pictures are exactly what the cabin looks like and is well equipped with "everything" you need. We loved the look and feel of the cabin especially with the surrounding wood walls and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on. There are two balconies with amazing views of the lake and the lower one with the hot tub, patio table and chairs. We loved having our morning coffee on the decks, watching the sunrise. The hot tub was perfect! The swimming cove was very nice. The deer came right up to us and ate out of our hands. (food supplied by resort) We had a wonderful time and are already planning to stay next year. I would highly recommend this resort...one of the best romantic getaways but definitely big enough for a group. read more

Twice is nice! We have visited twice in the past few months. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and we like the keyless entry into the rooms. The first time we stayed in an upstairs lodge suite. and the second time in a downstairs lodge suite. The upstairs suite sleeps up to 4 people and has more living space than the downstairs suite. Both were nice, but we prefer the upstairs suite because it is just my husband and myself. The view is also better from the upstairs suites. This place is great for nature lovers! read more

Where shall I begin? Management called us a few hrs before our arrival informing us that our room with a king size bed on the upper level of the lodge would not be available due to maintenance, the only options being offered was a queen size bed downstairs or free rescheduling. Rescheduling was not an option just hours away from arriving. Arrangements to be away from work and a getting house sitter were already in place, as we were well on our way to the lodge. After arriving to the lodge it was disappointing to see the layout out the room. It had multiple beds, and one queen size bed. The only tv in the room was in the living room. The room with a king size comes with a tv in the room. The kitchen was small, there was a coffee maker with filters but no coffee. There was also a small green outdated and uncomfortable couch that was very small and low to the ground. Very uncomfortable to sit and relax and watch tv. It was nice to see deer up close and having the ability to feed them with complimentary feed was a nice experience. The lake was beautiful, but getting there was a little difficult because you had to walk between other cabins, that was uncomfortable. When returning from our walk we noticed the people next to our room were on the deck with two dogs, even though the agreement stated no pets. When we slept on the queen bed, bed sunk in on one side. Overall, the place was peaceful and I loved feeding the deer but I do not think we will be returning as we were a bit disappointed. read more

Great weekend get away, clean rooms and good amenities. We stayed in the lodge and enjoyed hanging at the pool. We also took our boat out with easy access to the public boat ramps. I would recommend using ramp #6 if you have a larger boat as ramp number #7 beside the resort needs some work and is a little shallow and #6 is only 5 min away. If your looking for a kid friendly relaxing stay on the water this is your place. We will be coming back in the future. read more

I bought a livingsocial deal for this place for a one night stay in the lodge (not the cathedral style cabins) + a wine tasting at Dry Comal Creek and it was a great experience. The lodge was quiet, with really nice furnishings. We didn't even have to check in anywhere. We were just given a code to punch at the door to unlock our room. As far as the room goes, it was like a one bedroom apartment. There was a living room, kitchen area, small dining table, bathroom, and bedroom. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nice and spacious with a really cool bathroom sink. There was also a fully furnished kitchen inside, so be sure to bring food (everything you will need to cook like oil, seasoning, food, etc.) to cook. Utensils, plates, etc are all there. There is even a propane grill outside for you to use with some swinging chairs in between each room. There were other people staying in the rooms next to us, but we couldn't hear them. Sound proofing was great and it made the trip even more romantic and private-feeling. At different times of the day, deer will come to the front part of the lodge. We saw a group of up to 20 deer at one point. There is a canister of dry deer pellets on top of the fridge to feed them with and you can either feed them from the second floor of the porch or go down to the grass to feed them. The deer are already used to these feedings, but they are still wild animals so I would exercise caution. We actually saw one lady feeding the deer from her hands! The only bad thing about Canyon Lakeview Resort is when we went, there wasn't much to do around the lodging without driving across the lake. When we went, the pool wasn't finished yet and there were few trails to go hiking on. There was, however, a cage of peacocks nearby that was not as spectacular as it sounded. Overall, it's a great place to stay and I would recommend it to friends who are looking for a quiet, relaxing trip. read more

This is our second stay at this lovely resort. This time we got the upstairs room and have an unbelieveably open view of Canyon Lake. Our cabin is warm and cozy. My only issue is the couch attached to the Murphy bed--not too comfortable. Other than that, the deer, the view, and the ability to launch your boat right there adds up to a great stay. read more

Great for a weekend getaway with the family! The resort being an arms reach away from the lake is a great plus!The only gripe we had was that the WiFi that was provided was not working (which wasn't a big deal but when you bring a bunch of kids with tablets and IPads that need it, can make things a bit hectic!) and the fire alarm went off during the middle of the night and somehow set off the other cabins alarm and made for a rude awakening. But other than that great place to stay definitely recommend! read more
