I like the two ladies that share this practice. They have two different personalities. One is funny and a bit kookie and the other is more serious and no nonsense. Both really care about your pet and education for the pet owner. I like them both for different reasons. I could see why some people may take one or both of the ladies wrong, but they are being unfair with that judgment and should look at themselves for the reason they had a rough time. We have taken our dogs to them for all their puppy shots and subsequent check ups for the past 3 years. They have spent time to answer all our questions and their fee seems to be rather reasonable for the area. They never have gouged us nor over treated our animals like my previous vet did. read more

I have been a pet owner for 25 plus years and have never experienced anything like I have at Canyon Park Veterinary Hospital. Worse experience ever. The vet was not friendly at all- I felt like I was bothering or annoying her when I was in the office and on the phone with her. Even after a poor diagnosis with no cure- spending $500.00 on X rays and labs- she pushed for more testing. I have a 12 year old pup who is very sick- I had no sympathy, kindness or guidance as to making the next decision. The vet took a very difficult time and made it so much worse. I recently moved to the area and needed a new vet to take my two cats two. My male cat had what I suspected was an UTI. I was able to be seen the same day, they have very convenient hours. My cats have vet aggression and they have never made me feel like it was a problem or that they were a pain to deal with. Every time I've had an interaction with the vet or any of the staff they have been patient with me and provided all options and thoroughly explained what they were doing, why they were doing it, what the results of all test are and what they mean for the health of your pet. The prices are fair - bottom line I would recommend this office to anyone. read more

I'm giving two reviews in one which equals to the 3 star. 1st review: I took my Chihuahua here the 1st time when he started having the runs with blood. They took him in as soon as I could get there on the bus. Come to find out it was something that needed overnight 24 hour monitoring. They prepared him for IV treatments to cut costs down at the ER Vet. A year later, his heart murmur went from a 1 out of 6 to a 6/6. We took him 1st to the same ER Vet because it happened over the weekend. They put him on meds and in the air chamber to help catch his breath. Took him to Canyon Park and met with a doctor who was filling in for his normal Vet. We brought original Xrays from the ER to them and they ordered more Xrays. The fill-in Vet and the radiologist they sent the Xrays to review decided it wasn't heart failure, it was just possibly an infection causing fluid on his lunges. They gave me meds for this diagnosis. Two weeks later, I had to take him to the ER Vet after he stopped breathing to find out it was never an infection, that indeed his heart was failing and the fluid was caused by a broken valve in the heart and not able to pump it out. Miss diagnoses or not, it was something that couldn't have been fixed without spending over $11,000 in treatment. 2nd review: The staff is super friendly, they will make payment plans with you and the Vet is full of information. I adopted a senior PomChi and took him in for his 1st appointment. She was able to correctly determine his grade of knee displasia (locking knee common in little dogs). He also has had a lot of teeth removed and offered to evaluate his teeth at a later date for free to make sure the ones he still has are healthy. She also caught a small "hot spot" right away and got him on some meds and he has completely stopped scratching it. Close, Affordable and Friendly! read more

Absolutely the worst vets I have ever had. My little sheltie was not well. I saw two different doctors. Not once did they talk to her in a nice way or pet her. No diagnosis. My pet sitter took her in and they wouldn't do a thing until I called with a credit card and we have spent hundreds there. I have switched vets. Being out of town we were anxious, they were suppose to call our pet sitter with blood results and never called and then of course they are closed on Sunday. They are the worst! read more

After going here my dog went to an ER vet and her now new regular vet and both vets at these establishments informed me my dog and I were treated poorly by Canyon Park Vet Clinic. Also my ER visit was approximately 10$ higher in cost than the visit at Canyon Park and my dog received higher dose meds at the ER. I wanted to be able to help this clinic realize their mistakes and continue to recommend them but after trying to meet with an owner/manager for an in person chat and to have them listen to the voicemails I had received from their clinic in order to help in educating their staff on the importance of clear communication to avoid confusion I have been ignored. I called into the clinic the morning I was to meet with Dr. Vaughn and left a message with a receptionist prior to our meeting time that unfortunately I was going to be unable to make into the meeting due to my step daughter being Ill, but I would like to chat over the phone. I took the time to figure out how to email voicemails and wanted to be able to provide those to her so she could still educate her staff and I never received a call. To me actions speak louder than words and they just showed me that it was the money they were after and dont care about improving their services to ensure client retention and animal wellfare. read more

AWFUL! The vet was aggressive, impatient and forceful towards my dog when he was obviously scared. Instead of just asking him to come she grabbed him by his collar and pulled, and when he pulled back... obviously... she just got another person to help pull him instead of taking even just a few seconds to try and coax him. I offered to ask him to come wherever she wanted him and she said 'your not going to be able to get him to do anything'....my dog knows 'come' very well but what do I know. I tried to explain that he will come if you ask but if you drag him he will resist and she said 'well he will just have to get over that'...um thanks super helpful. Then when they were done trying to wrestle my squirming, obviously scared dog, he ran to a corner and started barking at them (I don't blame him) and she told me he was protective....uh no. Terrified maybe. Then she tried to give me the medicine and leave without even telling the the diagnosis. Our regular vet takes a little time to build some trust with him, and he has never had an issue there. She was rude and handled my dog very poorly. read more

My dog seems happy there for boarding; I'm satisfied. However, I have to wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewers when it comes to the coldness of some of the staff - unwelcoming. When I picked my dog up after a teeth cleaning procedure, they informed me an extraction had to be done, which added significantly to the bill. I had to ask why the extraction, which tooth, are the stitches removable. With each question, the receptionist had to go get the answer from the vet. When your pet has an general anesthetic procedure done, it seems that the vet/surgeon should review with the owner the details of the procedure, how it went, what to expect for recovery, just like when a human/child has surgery. read more

What can I say....Horrible! Been going here 5 yrs for my 2 doxies. Went this morn to get their shots. Dr Vaughn was horrible. She approached my dog aggressively, he growled, then she came unglued & pitched a fit. I was in shock. She screamed about winding up in the hospital with dog bite & wasn't going to tolerate this. She recommended a muzzle. I agreed if it made her more comfortable. She came back with thick gloves on and approached the dog aggressively and again he growled and the dog snapped...I was trying to help hold the dog and he mouthed my hand (he does this all the time to me & has NEVER bitten me) she backed up and began ranting she was going to muzzle him (which I had previously agreed to) That he almost bit me and she couldn't have me sue her over it (screaming at me at that point) I assured her my dog wouldn't bite me & I wouldn't sue her. She stormed out of the room slamming the door to return with a vet tech,blanket and muzzle. She lunged at my dog with the blanket and to my horror started aggressively attacking the dog that's when I stopped her and said that's it before she hurt the dog. She began screaming and ranting when I told her I wouldn't bring them back to her...I'd take them someplace else. As she storms out I let the B word fly...boy that upset her! she spun around and began screaming and couldn't believe I called her that! So I let fly again in case she didn't hear it the first time :)! At that point she came unglued more screaming before I told her this conversation is useless...she seemed to shut up and go away at that point. OMG I was speechless. I was in the room next to receptionist with adjoining window. She was just staring in disbelief! The receptionist was so nice to get me their records and recommend another boarding as I have a trip scheduled in 3 weeks...she was great and I truly feel sorry she has to work there. Getting the records took quite a bit as I waited in the room I thanked the receptionist over and over. Then a vet tech (Tom) brought the records staring me down aggressively as if he wants to punch me...I'm like WTH? I exchange words with him asking is there was something he wanted to say? Nope. so I get the papers & leave. As I'm putting my dogs in the car..another customer asks me what happened...I told them and they were not shocked telling me she has had this happened before. Then Tom comes out ( I was told this is Dr. Vaughn's husband)...He begins to scream at me...threatening me telling me he knows who I am and now knows what car I drive...he was mad I called his wife a B...I almost called the police, probably should put a restraining order on him he acts as nutty as his wife.Left wondering should I call police and have restraining order issued for the psychotic people. My advice is STAY AWAY from this psychotic place! read more

Very disappointed with the way my cats and I was treated at this vet clinic. The lady all but threw us out, told the receptionist (while I could hear her), how horrible I was after I asked her to put my cats down and I'd be taking them to someone more reasonable because she squeezed the daylights out of my cats when they were just visiting the vet for shots and a checkup. I'd gone once before and was told what a horrible cat-owner I am, how I'm not doing what my cats need (keep in mind, I get them checked yearly, I have their teeth cleaned, take them for walks on a leash and scoop their box every day to name a few things...). She bad-mouthed my previous vets (in another state, or I'd still be with them, they were fantastic) - which was very unprofessional, but I went back a second time, thinking, it probably was just a bad day for the vet. I will NEVER go back to this vet again. After the dr had gone into the back, the receptionist apologized up and down how she's so sorry, this always happens with that particular vet, etc. Inexcusable. read more

When we moved to the area we chose this vet because it was close to our home. I wish I would have read the reviews, and that is why I am writing this one. I regret not having changed to another vet, but since we had started care there, I try to stay in one place. My dog had been treated for an ongoing issue, and the medication we were on with a different vet had worked. When we changed to Canyon Park the vet belabored the point that she thought the meds the other vet had recommended were a bad choice, and went on and on about her philosophy and how so many vets were incorrect. Every visit the vet was very condescending and made us feel guilty for not wanting to do an expensive surgery on our old dog. The time did come when we decided to put our dog to sleep (this decision was not taken lightly and we spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons and had to do what was best for our 13 year old dog). Again she made us dissect our whole decision and explain it to her. If we get a dog again, we will not be returning. The only positive is the office staff is very nice. read more

On September 27th I brought my dog to Canyon Park Veterinary Hospital (CPVH) to be checked out for a possible case of Kennel cough after he had been boarded with CPVH from 9/23 through 9/27. Dr. Vaughn met me and my dog in the parking lot to avoid possible contamination of the Vet/Kennel facilities should it be determined that my dog had Kennel Cough. Dr. Vaughn performed an examination of him in my car out in the parking lot and concluded based on her examination that he most likely had eaten some wood (a stick most likely) and had scratched his throat. As a result, she prescribed an anti-inflammatory as well as a cough suppressant. No antibiotics were given due to her not believing it to be a case of Kennel Cough. She made it very clear on two separate occasions that "the phone is my friend" and that I needed to call her each of the next three days to give an update. This was important to her for two reasons: 1. If it turned out to be Kennel Cough, she wanted to give him medication that was appropriate for the condition instead of for a scratched throat. 2. She needed to know so that she could take precautions for other dogs that were in her facility during that time given the highly contagious nature of the illness. I called, as requested, each of the three days following. My messages to her reception staff were always the same, "Dr. Vaughn requested I call with an update on my dog. Please have her call me back." I then left my name, my dogs name, and my contact information. I never received a call back. My dog recovered very quickly and the other dogs around him before, during and after this time never developed any symptoms of Kennel Cough. On October 13th, I called CPVH to reserve my dog a spot in their boarding facility for the weekend. I was told that I should make other arrangements because they would only accept him on a quarantine basis. When I asked why, I was told that they had cases of Kennel Cough and it was determined that my dog was where it originated from. For that reason, and given that Kennel Cough is contagious for up to 30 days afterward, my dog would have to be quarantined. My complaint arises NOT from the fact that they would quarantine my dog, but rather that I was never told that my dog was determined to have that illness; that I was never contacted so that the 'appropriate medication' could be administered. Additionally, my calls to determine the status of my dog (that were specifically requested by Dr. Vaughn) were never returned. It would have been prudent to inform me of my dog's condition so I could take appropriate action which would include warning the owners of the dogs that came in contact with mine during this time, as well as get him the right medication. Had I not asked for boarding services from the facility weeks later, I would have never known my dog allegedly had this illness. That, in my opinion, is extremely poor customer service as well as dangerous neglect from a medical standpoint. read more

I wish I could give these people a zero star. Not worth the cheapness. They have no compassion towards people. Dr. Vaughn was awful and I threaten to leave twice due to her harshness towards me. I already knew the situation and felt horrible but she kept chastising me. They sent me home with a dog that was dying because they refused to put him down and I couldn't afford the $1500 + for the care he needed. I did what they told me at home and had to watch as the dog suffer. Horrible situation for me and my family to go through. I have seen two other vets there over the last 10 years and they are all but one harsh towards people and don't even seem to be loving towards the pets. read more

I'm really, really torn on how to rate this vet clinic. The vets seem competent, and offer good advice. The staff is friendly. Yet the only time I boarded my Welsh Corgi there they gave her the same DHLPP vaccine and Flu N2 shot they had three weeks earlier. Are they really that clueless? When I complained, they promised to refund the cost of the shots, but nothing happened. That's $45 I'll never see again. I feel like I can't trust this clinic. read more

Excellent care! I was in a rush to find a vet for my sick dog. I was recommended this vet by others in the community. They got my dog in within 30 min., spent a lot of time with us and didn't push unnecessary treatment. I'm thankful for this clinic and will be back! read more

Uncarrying staff, insensitive to a severly injured puppy, unhelpful, unhappy group, just a miserable experience through and through. Made an already sensitive situation feel even more dreadful. With the exception of Dr. Pasquini, the pet care here is mediocre at best. Dr. Vaughn is extremely rude and hostile. She cares more about the fact that she takes the pets home to her house than actual care for the animal. The phone call I received from her regarding my pet's treatment was rude and upsetting- due to me asking for a refill extension on her meds while out of town. We were not able to get our cat in for a simple blood test. It was not endangering our pet's life to delay the test, yet we were made to feel like abusive pet owners and was told by the front desk it was not possible when in fact it was possible and did not in any way affect our pets health or treatment. They always seem to need a large number of expensive tests before they can give any type of care. Probably best she works with animals as her people skills leave a lot to be desired. There are many other vets in the area. Save yourself and your pet a lot of grief and go see a vet who truly care about you and your pets! read more

I have been a regular at canyon park vet for many years with my cocker and they do everything here from regular check ups, major surgery, and boarding and we have done it all. Up until the last couple months they would have gotten 5 stars. But they hired an older gal who I guess used to work there before and is now back. They also have been training a bunch of new receptionists but they are not the issue. The regular front girls know me and my dog when we walk in. My dog was sick so we have had a lot of rechecks lately. When we walk in and the receptionist is on the phone or helping other customers this older gal doesn't greet me or even acknowledge I walked in the building, she's either looking at a lap top or charts, the phone will be ringing and she will make the other girl stop helping the customer she's with and answer the phone, interrupt the other girls conversation with a customer to dictate more things she needs to do then usually disappears to the back so I'm left standing there holding my dog. The other receptionist as soon as she's done greets me, says thanks for waiting and oh your back for a recheck! I feel bad for the other girls they always seem so busy and overwhelmed working alone doing a million things at once while the older gal doesn't seem to be doing anything but move papers around and have bad customer service. I was forced to deal with her on a busy Saturday where she acknowledged my presence in the building and when I gave her my name and said we were here for a recheck she looked at me like a deer in head lights. I might have well been speaking a different language. I could see my name on the books she pointed right at it. She blankly said huh? And I had to explain the no charge recheck policy to her and how dr. Vaughn wanted to see my dog again so take her in the back. It was like a ten minute conversation and she still looked confused, I was getting very irritated. When she did come Take my dog In the back I looked irritated at the other receptionist and she apologized for her which made me feel better that it wasn't just me having trouble with her. As I'm waiting for my dog and the tech to return I'm watching this gal get flustered, irritated, be rude with the other custoTmers, throw stuff down on the desk like pens, staplers and charts and talk rudely to the other receptionists who I've never had issues with about how she can't handle multitasking and she has so much to do and dictate more things for her to do when she's the busy one answering phones and helping everyone. I love this place and the staff they just went down hill when hiring this older gal and with how many new receptionists they have been training they just need to get rid of her. read more

Dr. McKee is the most arrogant, ignorant Dr. that has ever existed. I brought my dog into their clinic and instead of helping him, they ran an absurd number of expensive & unneeded tests. All of this, After I told her that he's had this ear issue before & a simple antibiotic has always cleared it up in a number of days. Rather than listening to me at all, she completely ignored me & proceeded to run the unnecessary tests anyway. The bill was sky high & guess what...Nothing she did helped him at all. Rather, another Dr. gave him the simple antibiotic that had worked in the past & it worked like a charm this time as well. I tried calling Dr. Mckee back and explaining my concerns and she treated me like the most horrible person in existence while also telling me I'm not worth her time. This is not a review of the vets but of the very poor customer service at the front desk!! I had spoken to them over the phone about my dogs injury and told them he had seperation anxiety and I needed to be with him. Well I wasted my time for when i actually got there, apparently they didn't think my concern to be present with my dog while a stranger was assessing him was important. They said he needed to be taken to the back alone. So when I objected they did not take the time to assess the reasons and simply stuck to their rigid policy. This is less than a healing situation so I stated I'd take him to another vet. All they said was a weak "sorry". Wow they lost a potential repeat customer. read more

have never had to write a bad review on anything before. But I am so upset I am writing this minutes after getting home. We have been looking for a good veterinarian for our puppy. We had a few great reviews about this place and it was close. He was due for his bordatella vaccination so we made an appointment. Before we got in he caught a cold, so we sat outside by Tullys to have the exam. All we heard about was how fat he was. I agree he could lose some weight, but the doctor went on and on and on. Told me to buy the cheapest dog food and senior food at that, because it has more fillers. No way was i going to do that. We have been working on reducing his food, and we are being successful. That was a three weeks ago. We go back today to get his vaccination. The other doctor comes in, doesn't introduce herself, grabs the dog (labrador) and tries to get the vaccine up his nose. No letting him warm up to her at all. All the while SHE is going on about his weight. So much so we got into an argument. I am not ignorant to the fact that he needs to lose another 5 pounds. But I am not going to starve him to get his weight down as fast as she would want. He is 11 months old and still growing. He gets a ton of exercise and is extremely healthy. This is the worst place as far as friendliness and professionalism goes. Never will we walk through their doors again. read more

My dog was boarded at CP Vet facility during the week of June 21 2014. This is intentionally a zero star review. The comments of K.R. (Renton) are so true. The Veterinarian Vaughn failed to let me and my emergency contacts know that my dog became very ill while in her care (9 days). Procedures and meds were done without my knowledge/consent; she failed to take responsibility for this unethical behavior and was most rude in then accusing me of "intimidating" her staff. This Vet behaved very NOT normal in a client/health practitioner situation. I even rec'd a hostile follow up letter from her 9 days after my rescue of my then, very debilitated dog. This commentary is quite civil compared to my feelings about the madness I found at CP Veterinary Hospital June 30, 2014, & the "discussion" with this Vet and the sickly condition I found my dog to be in. My dog is elderly and the vet knew that. It took a good 4 weeks for my "girl" to recover the functional level she enjoyed when I first took her to this Vet. BEWARE ! This Veterinarian was most rude, unethical, unprofessional and ignored all the information about my dog that I issued to staff and to her. I really feel bad when I think my "girl" went through a long stay when none of us knew how she might have been suffering...as she could barely stand up when I took her out of there. read more
