I went here one time 5yrs ago for a regular checkup but today was the first time I had an actual emergency. They were able to get me in last min before Thanksgiving. The vet listened to me & took all my concerns into consideration about my 20yr old cat. Turns out what we thought could have been an end of life situation was an easy fix with antibiotics. I wasn't pushed into unnecessary testing or procedures I know other vets would have tried to take advantage of me on especially since I thought it was something way more serious. I have a happy healthy 20yrvold cat who wasn't made to endure unnecessary procedures which could have caused undue stress that would be hard to recover from. The price was also amazing compared to other vets. Highly recommend them & hope they are around for a long time. read more

Their receptionsist is an uncaring woman who does not care if the cat (who had been a cliet for many years) was in very dire need of seeing Dr Gawley. The receptionist would not make an appointment for my cat any time in the future. Because of this receptionist, I had to take my kitty to another vet. By the time I could find a vet who had an opening for a new patient, it was too late for kitty. I refuse to go back to the Cat Clinic because of the rudeness of the receptionist. My cat was diagnosed with feline infectious peritonitis a few days ago at the urgent care vet. This is a potentially fatal diagnosis. So, I made an appointment with the Kat clinic a few days ago. My cat is very nervous and shy. But luckily a few days ago I got her in the carrier to go to the urgent care clinic. So it made me think I could get her into the carrier again today for a visit at the cat clinic. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. Today I was unable to get her on the carrier as she required more physical interaction to get it done than I was able to give her due to a spinal cord injury. So I had to cancel today and reschedule to a time where I could have a friend help me. When I called to reschedule, they informed me that they're taking a $76 cancellation fee. I let them know again why I canceled and asked for them to understand and waive the fee. I told them that I wasn't just choosing not to come. I was unable to bring her for an unexpected health reason They told me that I should've told them sooner that I had a "spinal cord injury" and that would've changed their mind about not charging the fee somehow. The office manager continued to argue with me about the details of my situation, refusing to refund the fee. She was hostile, rude, and offered no understanding for my dilemma I told them I would not continue to argue and would not be my cat in. If this is the kind of treatment they give to a new client, what would they do if we did come in? Wish I had read all these reviews before I tried to go there. Could've saved $76. read more

Last Tuesday, 9/24, Dr. Gawley performed a cystotomy on my cat. By Sunday (9/29) my cat stopped eating, so I took her to the emergency vet. They treated her symptoms and advised me to follow up with our primary vet if she didn't improve by Monday (9/30). Unfortunately, her condition remained the same, so I brought her back to Dr. Gawley, who had me drop her off for the day. Despite calling twice, I received no updates until I went to the clinic just before closing at 6 PM. Dr. Gawley and her team merely repeated the symptomatic treatment that the emergency vet had already provided. No effort was made to investigate the underlying cause of my cat's illness. By Tuesday morning (10/1), my cat had worsened, and I rushed her to the emergency vet with a 106-degree fever. Blood tests revealed she had zero white blood cells--a critical condition that should have been discovered if Dr. Gawley had conducted appropriate tests on Monday. To make matters worse, Dr. Gawley called the emergency vet on Wednesday (10/2) and disclosed that she had treated another cat on Tuesday (9/24) who may have exposed my cat to a highly contagious infection. This information, along with the lack of proper care and diagnostic tests, has left my cat hospitalized for two nights, and she is still not out of the weeds just yet. When Dr. Gawley called me Tuesday (10/1), confused as to why I hadn't brought my cat back to her clinic but instead took her to the emergency vet, I emailed a detailed explanation of the events, to which I have received no response. I strongly caution anyone considering this clinic. They will keep you uninformed while your pet is in their care and fail to take the necessary steps to diagnose and treat serious conditions. Dr. Grawly's been getting quite rusty in her old old age. Our family's last visit resulted in our decision to make this post. Dr. has put two of our loved pets down in the last two years. There were no tests to confirm her diagnosis on either cat but when Dr. explained it was cancer and nothing could be done we believed her. We regret visiting her. Additional kudos to Dr. Gawley and the clinic. We've been taking our pets there for more than five years. We've had a cat with stomatitis who needed about half of his teeth removed; then he developed a post-surgical issue. Dr. Gawley didn't charge us for the care he needed for the second issue, and he has been doing great ever since. Another cat had ongoing issues with diarrhea, finicky eating, and sometimes vomiting. This was diagnosed as irritable bowel disease, and after a few weeks on prednisolone, he is doing great! Also due to her great care, we have a cat with a heart murmur who is thriving and has made it to the ripe old age of 15. Some of our local rescue organizations trust Dr. Gawley with their most puzzling, unique, and serious cases, and that says a lot! read more

They are racist against African Americans and I will never be back. The first visit was.. okay. The Dr was in and out and definitely seemed over her head. We did not get the one on one care we needed, our patient experience was POOR, but the entire appointment still took an hour for 1 shot and some medicine for a kitten. Thats how scatterbrained (and old) this place was. But the Dr and the front desk woman were nice. The second time I went back, the entire vibe was different and the front desk woman was absolutely pure evil. She acted as if I didn't belong there, and I can only assume it is because I am African American with colorful hair, tattoos, and piercings. At first this woman ignored me, talking to the woman in front of me. Then, reluctantly, she acknowledges me with "Um. Do you need something?" (She had an attitude and acted as if I was in there to solicit or something. She did NOT want to help me.) Excuse you? I need my appointment that I showed up 2 minutes early for. Why don't you know your calendar? The front desk woman made it seem like it was a chore to clean the room for me and then, once I was in the room, I WAITED FOR 30 MINUTES AND NEVER SAW THE DR. NO ONE stepped in to speak to me or tell me what was going on. I sat there, waiting, wasting my time. I don't even think the front desk woman told the Dr I was there. When I stepped out the room to see what the 30 MINUTE delay was, because I could hear people working around me but not coming in my room, the front desk woman was even worse. She said "Oh. She's running behind." And turned back to ignoring me. So I walked out and I will never return. And the best part? No one called to apologize or reschedule. They knew exactly what they were doing. You won. That is not how you treat patients, customers, people, etc. This isn't how you run a business. I stressed my kitten out for nothing and now she is behind on her shots while we look for another vet. Thank GOD I didn't let them spay my baby. I had my first visit with my first owned cat ever today. I came in feeling good about how I was raising and caring for my kitten Apollo. As I walked in it seemed as if they were too comfortable with cats running around and knocking down lamps and objects on the desk. I move in to the assigned room and had waited for 20 minutes before the doctor came in. She proceeded to put a can of food on the table and was suddenly shocked when Apollo jolted towards the can and devouring it and she frantically says "you don't feed him enough, this is NOT normal" keep in mind I feed him 3 times a day and fed him before the appointment. Throughout the visit I felt I was being judged and criticized with no reason. I left with a very sour taste in my mouth. She gave him food he has never eaten (dry kibble). Maybe this is just my experience but there was no real advice, nor did she tell me if he was a healthy cat. All I left with was food I'm not going to feed him (and was charged for it) and his vaccination shots. read more

I am writing this review based off my last experience with the Cat Clinic at Canyon Park. I was faced with the challenge of moving out of state and needed my two cats to be up to date on their vaccines as well as two health certificates there. We usually go to the Good Neighborhood Vet Clinic as they are such great folks and we have been going there since we adopted. However, as they do not provide the health certificate service I had to go to Canyon Park. On the day of our visit, we were told what room to enter into (pandemic safety precaution to to right into the room which was great). It took a while for the vet to meet us and when she did she walked in, not a hello or anything, and just started reading her files. My mother and I were kind of speechless and didn't know what to think. She proceeded to sigh and then walked out!!! And then she walked back in and walked back out two to three times SIGHING loudly as she did so without any further dialogue. It was so bizarre. I proceeded to explain why we were there and explaining the vaccination history papers I brought over, and suddenly the vet started speaking and going on about how they couldnt read the paperwork and that Good Neighborhood vet's rabbies shots were somehow not valid and that we would need to redo it there. This was news to me!! They proceeded to then say that the health certificate would need a few weeks turn around because they supposedly needed to "send it into the state" to get approved. When they walked out in another loud bursted sigh my mom and I were furiously researching on our phones to see if this was legitimate. I didnt even know where to begin! How was Good Neighborhood Vet, an accredited organization giving animals the wrong medication?! When the vet came back I expressed that this was all not making sense to me and they proceeded to leave again in an exasperated state. A nurse, the first one we'd seen, walked in then I assume to "talk us down." Credit is due because she was sweet but she just repeated to us what the situation was. We ended up taking our leave and said we would "reschedule" when we had more info and an address for the health certificate. On exiting, I made note that the vet and nurses in the back were all chatting away with NO MASKS and cats/kittens roaming around in the back. This was in winter in the height of the pandemic. Because I had a time crunch I called several other veterinarians in the area and let them know my dilemma and what had been told to me at the Cat Clinic. ALL OF THEM told me the same thing: the vaccinations at Good Neighborhood vet are nothing to worry about and safe and legitimate; that the health certificate exam can be done within the hour and that I could get the certificate THE DAY OF. I ended up going to Inglemoore Animal Hospital and my cats were taken care of by kind, knowledgable, legitimate folks who also recommended medication to calm the cats on the flight. In person I reaccounted what the vet at Cat Clinic said and they said it was all FASE. Please save yourself the experience of going to the Cat Clinic. They are rude and scammers. On looking up the name of the vet, because yes I had to they never had the decency to introduce themselves, I now know they are called Patricia Gawley. My Pixie Bob appeared ill within 30 minutes of being with us - vomiting and very lose, unformed stools. He was 12 weeks old. Over the next 9 months he grew, his symptoms subsided and returned, and he developed fecal incontinence. I was bound to find the cause and get him back to balanced health. After 4 different vets, multiple appointments and over $1000 in bills for treatments that did not last, I was referred to Dr. Gawley by a former employee of The Cat Clinic. After Dr. Gawley looked over the previous vet records, lab writeups, and an examine she suspected he had the parasite tritrichomonas foetus in his large intestinal tract, and damage in his small intestine. She took a stool sample that was conveniently provided by my kitty while in the exam room. We got the lab results back sooner than expected. She was correct. I am so grateful to her for listening to me, taking the time to go over the previous vets' records and for her knowledge. I truly believe she saved my cat's life. SPECIAL NOTE: Dr. Gawley does not seem to be ruled by the clock. She will give each feline patient and owner the time she feels they need. For this reason, you may be waiting longer than expected at the clinic for your appointment. Trust me though, she is totally worth it. Also, her resident cats are social. My cat felt totally comfortable getting out of his carrier to socialize. He's never felt that comfortable at any other vet office and neither have I. read more

If you have a cat and live in the area, you should be bringing them to the Cat Clinic at Canyon Park. I had a young Siamese named Kreecher who was my best friend. He started acting tired all of the time and stopped eating. All he wanted to do was lay on my lap and sleep. In a bit of a panic, I looked on-line and found the Cat Clinic. The staff was wonderful and caring, real cat people who understood where I was coming from as a panicked cat-dad. They got me an appointment right away and the friendliness and professionalism continued when I brought Kreecher in. The vet who saw to him was compassionate and skilled, treating my cat like he was my kid, which is what he was to me, and not just a pet. They wanted to keep him overnight for observations and I felt completely comfortable leaving him in their care. The test results showed nothing good. He was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and didn't have long left. I was a complete wreck and all I wanted to do was sit with my kid till the moment came. Since he wasn't in any shape to come home, the staff let me stay after hours and really went out of their way to accommodate me and Kreecher. When he passed away, the vet called me in tears with the news. I had just left to go home to get some sleep before coming back in the next morning. She performed an autopsy on her own time, so I would know for sure that it was cancer and that there really, truly, was nothing we could have done besides make him comfortable. That extra step was one I needed, because, as I'm sure all pet owners wonder, I couldn't help thinking "could I have done something different?" They handled all of the cremation services for me and had Kreecher's remains placed in a ceramic urn with his paw print set in clay to go with it. It was a hard experience for me and, honestly, if I had gone to any other vet office it would have been a nightmare. I cannot thank them enough for their caring natures and professionalism. Dr. Paschal was who we took our cats to at this clinic, and we refused to see Dr. Gawley. When I last called to make an appointment for a check up, I learned that Dr. Paschal had left the clinic. I was forced to make an appointment with Dr. Gawley, which I figured would be okay just because it was a check up. I arrived with my cat, and the receptionist (Barbara, I think) seems to be very scatter brained, doesn't explain anything and isn't helpful. Our appointment was at 11, but we weren't called into the office until 11:45. 45 minutes is a long time to wait when you have an anxious and stressed cat meowing. So we finally get into the check up room, Dr. Gawley starts off "Sorry that took so long, those people before you would not shut up!" That's nice to say of your paying customers who were probably just concerned about their cat! At this point she has not made eye contact nor greeted us in any other way. I open the cat carrier door and my kitty doesn't want to come out, understandably. Dr. Gawley simply picks up the carrier and dumps my cat out. At this point I was thinking, its okay if I were to do that to my cat, but definitely not okay for you to do that! With her eyes looking onto the table, she asks why we came in, and I said check up/vaccinations/nail clipping. No response, and she proceeds to go through the regular check up. At this point, we can hear the receptionist in the front who is on the phone with a seemingly irate customer, as she is saying something about how the Dr. did indeed call the client back and left a voicemail etc. I thought nothing of it until Dr. Gawley started muttering under her breath about that customer, asking "who the eff doesn't check their voicemails, do I have to give everyone a tutorial on how to check them?!" Uhhh.. I tried to talk to her about my concerns that I had for my baby, teeth cleaning, loneliness, eating habits. etc. but her only response to the multiple concerns was "it's typical of aging cats to only want to eat wet food". No explanation, no addressing other issues, that's IT. After she weighs my kitty, she walks out with no word, and after a few seconds I can hear her clearly yelling and swearing about the customer and how it's not her fault that the customer didn't check his voicemails. Then she comes back with a syringe. She doesn't explain to me what the vaccination is or if my kitty will be sore or anything after it. I try to ask again about loneliness, and she hands me a pamphlet for this product and says I should look into it, as she is walking out the door. I stand there for a few minutes before I realize that the appointment is over, and she isn't coming back in. I put my kitty back into her carrier and walk out to the front to pay a god awful amount of money for the worst, most unprofessional service I have ever received. Looking back on it, I should have refused to pay. Needless to say, Dr. Paschal left for a reason, and we will never be going back to this clinic again, and I will recommend to anyone who has cats to avoid this place like the plague. read more

I took my cat to this clinic because she seemed to have a difficult time eating and when I brought her in, the receptionist seemed rather scatterbrained and even a little rude and didn't mention having to leave the cat overnight (which led to some frustrstion and more charges). The vet called that night at around 9pm, said she had cracked teeth and needed several removed but wasn't going to work because she had a higher than normal temperature. Next day comes by come 4pm the vet still hasn't checked on her again and wanted to hold her for another night for even more cash. I decided at this point I was already plenty annoyed by them and pulled my cat out of the office and got charged shy of $400 for whole process which DID NOTHING for helping my cat with any of her issues. Dr. G's bedside manner was more lacking. I strongly got the sense her clients were no more than a check for her and thought she was trying to get more money from me. I have no idea what happened while there but when I got my cat back she was obviously traumatized and acted very strange and scared for days. I was HIGHLY dissatisfied with my experience there and I would highly suggest NOT going here. read more

Dr. Galway and Dr. Paschal are two of the kindest and most patient saints of veterinary medicine I have encountered. My fur babies have been patients of this clinic for five years. First Jane and Keeta, who I had brought with me from Texas and who later passed on, then my new adopted cat Luke. Last October, I found an injured and abused 7 week old kitten in the street . He had internal injuries and his tail had been pulled so hard, it had separated the vertebrae and severed his spinal cord at the base of the tail. He needed a LOT of veterinary care over several months, which included treatment for dehydration and persistent non-specific diarrhea, neutering, and complete tail amputation. He was in the clinic for a total of about three weeks. The staff (Katie!) and doctors always kept me informed of his condition, discussed treatment options with me (including a discussion on cost), allowed me to visit him as often as I was able, and they even allowed me to pay in installments. They really partnered with me to rescue and rehabilitate the world's sweetest and cutest kitten who is now an indispensable part of my family and lil brother to Luke. We love bandit so much and I could not have taken on his case without their support and assistance. I am so glad we didn't have to surrender him to a shelter and he can stay our forever fur baby. Our endless gratitude goes out to the entire staff. This is the place you need to go if your cat needs looking after. Thank you Thank you! read more

I just moved to the area, so I never brought my cats here until one of them suddenly showing a variety of symptoms. I can't say enough good things; they got me in right away, and we didn't have to wait at all. My cat is friendly to begin with, but she was so comfortable with the vet that she was just lolling all over the examining table, even over the vet's notes. I feel so bad, but I honestly can't remember which vet we saw that day. Either way, our vet diagnosed my cat, made a couple suggestions, and sent us on our way. My cat's symptoms returned once the we finished the round of medication, but I called in again at the last minute and even though it was our vet's day off, she got back to the receptionist right away and put through a refill of the medications including an additional prescription. The facility is very clean, which is quite the feat given how many cats they have at any given time. All the cats are super friendly and I really do look forward to seeing them as part of our visits. Not only that, the location can't be beat in terms of convenience. As long as I live in this area I'll definitely be taking my cats here. I adopted my cats from this clinic and they are now 10 and 11. The 10 yr old was constantly having problems. Sinus infections, runny nose, bad breath. Dr Gawley recommended the tiny teeth top and bottom in the front be removed. Success! He has not had any issues since. My twin tuxedo cats have had problems over the years and Dr Gawley has been helping us get them healthy again. She even called me to check up on them as she was leaving on a 2 week vacation. The clinic is very clean, no smell (as someone posted). There are numerous cats on site which makes it even more fun while waiting. What's a cat clinic without lots of cats? I can't say enough as to how grateful I am to Dr. Gawley. I have 6 cats and used to take them to another vet hospital close by and never got the issues taken care of . Dr. Gawley always got the diagnosis right, treatment right and my cats are so healthy now. She went over and beyond to help with my mother's cat as my mom has dementia and wasn't taking proper care of him. She kept him for several days, no charge and did some tests no charge to figure out why he wasn't keeping food down. It was a bizarre condition that no one else figured out, but she did. Now the kitty is with us and is on daily meds, but he's eating and happy. I highly recommend this clinic and trust Dr. Gawley to get to the bottom of any issue. read more

We had an abysmal experience at this clinic. Gawley was unprofessional, rude, and actually injured my cat. She sedated him to neuter him but instead created two wounds on his scrotum. This kitty was rescued off the streets and experiencing diarrhea. So with the bloody wounds and diarrhea, she wouldn't neuter him. Gawley insisted on running tests for an intestinal parasite that I didn't think he had as well as some other lab for vitamin B. She has extremely poor listening skills and/or didn't care for my opinions. Waste of $200 as those tests were negative. She pushes veterinary diets, which I would never, ever feed. She seems to want to keep animals caged at her clinic for obscure reasons, failing to understand the stress levels cats feel when they are not in their own homes. The prices here are cheaper than some other clinics, which is about the only positive thing I can say about this weird place with even weirder staff. read more

Major kudos to Dr Gawley and Cat Clinic. My 16 year old severely abused rescue kitty was clearly nearing the end and our previous vet was unable to fit us into their schedule. A desperate call to Cat Clinic and we were fit into their busy schedule. Dr Gawley immediately saw our cat could not be treated and quickly and compassionately began the euthanasia process. She was very gentle and understanding about treating a cat that had suffered abuse so severe it took 6 years and illness before I could pet the cat. Dr. Gawley is very knowledgeable, I trust her judgment, I can be a difficult customer but she cited sources to back up her diagnosis and treatment plan. I have not had any difficulty getting questions answered by Dr. Gawley or the other staff members. They have been helpful both in person and on the phone. Also, the prices were reasonable, much less than a prior clinic I went to when I lived in Seattle. On the negative side this clinic seems a bit disorganized. I was here once when another person was going to have to put his cat down and the conversation was started out in the lobby instead of a private room. Overall, I intend to keep taking my cats here for annual check ups and anything else that comes up. read more

Happened to pass by this clinic one day while in the area, so looked it up and was intrigued by the reviews...both positive and negative. Since my little fur boy was due to be neutered, thought I'd check it out. Two-hundred-fifty dollars cheaper for neutering than the current vet I was going to! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! This is the worst place to go period. We had been taking my cat there for the last few years and it wasn't horrible but wasn't great either. This last time took the cake. The main doctor is psycho and I'm 99% she's lost it completely. She shook her fist when she looked at the cat records and started muttering "this doesn't make sense" over and over. I was like what are you doing. And she didn't even look at the cat with me in the room she didn't even say hi or pet the cat like a normal vet. I asked a couple simple questions and she didn't say anything and walked out of the room muttering. I stood there clueless as to what the heck was happening for over 10 minutes then takes the cat in the backroom and was gone for an hour without saying anything as to what she's going to do. Then another person comes in and drops off cat and doesn't say anything. So I ask are we done what did you find? They say oh we will give you a write up but she's not done yet. So after some more waiting I just figured we were done and I went to the front counter and they didn't tell me anything about what they found out. So I just thought in my head I'm just going to walk out and not pay for this absolutely terrible service. But I just paid and left and took my cat to another vet. I also was told over the phone that I could pick up pills at the store on the phone. But then when there they said they sent them to Costco so I went to Costco and they said they never received order. So I called the terrible cat clinic place and they said they did it but I said no they don't have it there. So after days later of my cat not on pills we called again and they finally fixed their problem. Absolute idiots. read more

This place was fantastic! After a cross country move, my 11 year old cat was in poor shape. She had lost 11lbs, she was lethargic, she was shedding like crazy and she refused to eat, drink, or use the bathroom in 3 days! We were moving from Texas to Washington and I didn't want to take her to any old vet along the highway. Once we reached our new home I took her to the Cat Clinic at Canyon Park and they were able to get her in immediately. They were very nice, very informative and took outstanding care of my cat. Turns out she was in a diabetic comatose state and was close to death. They were able to take her into their care right then and there and they kept her for 5 days while they monitored her insulin and blood sugar levels. They literally brought her back to life! They called me twice a day with updates (I didn't even have to request this, it's just their standards) and they have an 'open door policy' so I could visit my cat anytime I wanted. What a lovely place, with great staff and great policies! And it wasn't that expensive at all! For 5 days of overnight care plus twice a day insulin injections it was only $360! I thought it was going to be at least double. They were also very informative and helpful in guiding me through the steps necessary for her care at home. I had never had a cat with diabetes and I had no idea what I was supposed to do. My cat was on insulin for another month before she beat diabetes. I cannot recommend this place enough. Dr Gawley may seem abrasive, but she will do everything she can to save your cat. The entire place has been remodeled with new staff. 1000000% recommend. I trust them with ALL of my cats. They do nail trims and boarding for me all the time, at a cheaper cost than larger vet clinics read more

I recently took down a bad review of this place, because I realized I was writing it from a "crazy cat person" who-is-worried-and-frustrated-about-my-cat's-medical-situation perspective. So I think it's only fair for a more accurate depiction of this clinic which is not for everyone, but if you want your cat to be operated on by someone with a strong level of expertise and confidence, Dr. Gawley is your lady. I started taking my cat to the Cat Clinic in late 2011 by recommendation of a friend, who is also a vet and closely acquainted with Dr. Gawley. The circumstances at the time were pretty dire as I didn't have the credit or immediate cash to have my kitty's abscessed anal gland operated on. Dr. Gawley and the people at the Cat Clinic took us in without any questions, and in the end my little Lucy was operated on and recovered rather nicely. In addition to that, the clinic set me up on a monthly payment plan to help me soften the hard hit of the huge medical bill. I was very pleased with the level of service I received with a few minor exceptions. Months after her initial procedure, I boarded Lucy here during my vacations. I was satisfied with the overall cost and level of attention she received during her stay. Though later, I decided to hire someone to care for Lucy at home because we no longer lived in the area and commute to the clinic was difficult. Subsequently, it was discovered during her anal gland operation and boarding, that Lucy had developed stones in her bladder. Dr. Gawley put her on a diet to help potentially eradicate the stones (or keep them from becoming larger), but about a year later when Lucy had started to urinate outside of the box, it was ]again, direly clear, that Lucy would require operation to remove the stones. Despite living nearly 25 miles away, my preference was for Dr. Gawley perform the operation. While Lucy's recovery was extensive, requiring multiple overnight stays for about a week, she made it through. Unfortunately, the procedure was radically more expensive than I could ever imagine. Setting up a payment plan was really difficult, despite having never missed a scheduled payment with the past procedure (which was paid in full). I found myself having a very tough and embarrassing financial conversation at the front desk with a looming medical bill over $900 and with many other customers standing around. It was really stressful and my cat all the while was in her carrier anxious and crying, only amplifying the stress of the situation. Considering the number of times I called to check on Lucy (and during my visits to see her) as well as before her operation, it would have been nice if someone could have discussed with me the financials of her operation in private. In the end I paid a large portion of the bill and set up successive payments, to which I'm thankful for. Ultimately I recognize that this clinic is high volume. The staff and Dr. Gawley are often slammed and not for a lack of staff, but simply due to being inundated with people like me with kitties who need affordable and emergent care. I trust Dr. Gawley with Lucy's anatomy and medical history in the sense of handling the major operations. This is something I have yet to find with another vet in Seattle. However, the minor drawbacks have become major over time. With every procedure Lucy's had I've felt the communication isn't there - frequently there is no follow-up recommendations or anyone to really walk me through what to expect with Lucy's care (before, during and after her operation). More often then not I'm relying on faith. This has made it hard to prevent emergencies, making it seem like the care is more reactive, which leaves me feeling less confident as Lucy's companion. As my cat has grown older and continues to require attention to her anal glands and potentially her urinary system, as well as her overall wellness, I'm hoping to leave the trust to Dr. Gawley for the more emergent operations Lucy requires while coordinating after and preventative care with a more local clinic. It's important to keep in mind the busy nature of this clinic. People bring their feline friends to Dr. Gawley for a reason. She's real. She's an expert at the really complex nitty-gritty of cat care. She's not there to make you feel better or to put on a fanciful show. If anything you are going to hear her snark about crappy pet companions or the stupidity of the human race - I find it to be somewhat funny. She's a true cat person and when it comes to saving my kitty, I'd take my chances with and only with Dr. Gawley. read more

The owners have several of their own cats free roaming inside the clinic. My cat isn't used to this so she was unnecessarily frustrated/agitated from the strong cat smell in addition being sick :( I also questioned the cleanliness of a clinic with free roaming pets. I also agree that customer service is sub-par. I wasn't greeted very kindly when I returned to pickup medication. It was also strange that I was told to call back the clinic to hear the results of my cat's blood and urine tests without knowing when they'd be ready! I would expect someone at the clinic would take the time to call me :( The doctor was very knowledgeable and kind to my cat but had poor bedside manner - I feel she was more comfortable talking to cats than people. She'd avoid eye contact as much as possible and sometimes just leave the consultation room while talking without saying where she was going or when she'd be back. I nearly thought our consultation was complete the first time she hastened out. Very strange socially. I'd rather find a cleaner clinic with better customer service. Sorry Cat Clinic! I really did want you to be nice since you're so close to where I live! :( read more

Just an update for anyone that is interested. I took my cat to Urban Animal for a second opinion on my cats tooth and the vet told me that my cat did NOT need a tooth extraction OR root canal. Be careful if you take your cat to Cat Clinic, I was told by the vet there that I would have to pay for an exorbitant amount of money for my cat's tooth extraction after only looking at my cats mouth for 10 seconds. We've been taking our cat here for about 2 years now. I have no doubt whatsoever that these people care about the animals they treat. That being said, there seems to be a fair amount of chaos going on behind the scenes that can make your visit a little less enjoyable than it otherwise could be. The facility itself is getting dated and definitely due for a remodel. I suspect that they put most of their revenue towards caring for the animals so I try not to judge too harshly. There are always a few cats and kittens roaming the lobby hoping to be adopted so if you're looking for a new friend, definitely a good place to start. We've been seen by a couple of doctors here but I'm not sure of the names. The doctor in charge seems to be extremely caring and competent, as well as very knowledgable, however her bedside manner is better suited for her patients rather than the people that bring them in. She'll take very good care of your pet but be prepared to feel a little like a 3rd wheel. read more

Dr. Gawley is the BEST vet I've ever gone too! She has helped us SO many times over the past 15 years. Everything from illness to feral kittens found in the yard. She works so hard - no idea when the poor woman sleeps. We have had pets for over 50 years and we have NEVER found a person with more compassion and desire to help then Dr. Gawley. My cats have been patients of the Clinic for over eight years now. Dr. Gawley is 100% a cat vet. Although her bedside manner sometimes is abrasive, she is more knowledgeable about cat issues than many other vets I've used. My husband formerly taught veterinary nursing, and in general approves of her knowledge. Our only issue with Dr. Gawley has been over dental treatments. We had an older cat adopted from a shelter who had mangled his teeth trying to escape from the rescue cage. Dr. Gawley pulled all of his teeth, saying that they were "unbalanced" if she had left the intact teeth. We fed the cat soft food after that, and he did not seem to be adversely effected by the treatment. We are still taking our cat to Dr. Gawley, although my husband usually takes her. The office chaos seems to depend upon how many vets there are present; I haven't had an issue when they are not busy. I have taken my cat to Seattle Veterinary Specialists in Kirkland for emergent care, but after an hour my cat had not seen a vet, but they had provided a breakdown of how much it would cost me for various treatments. The only examination was a vet's assistant relaying questions to and from the vet in some other part of the clinic. I left without paying for their "service" and returned to Dr. Gawley, who was able to see her promptly without doing a credit check. read more

We got a 10 year old cat from the shelter and after 2-3 weeks he got a cold. At the first clinic they just sent us home with antibiotics. Symptoms got a lot worse and our cat developed diarrhea. Due to a recommendation we switched to this clinic. They really took good care and kept him hospitalized for two days since he was in a bad shape at this point. When I called in during that time they offered to keep him a little longer at no additional charge since they thought it'd be best for him. Our cat's health improved a lot. They also gave him some meds to better handle antibiotics. They also took quite some time to explain in detail what the issue was. This proofed to me that they really care about the cat's health. I can't understand reviews stating they would rip off people or be unorganized. We're glad our cat is better and that we found a great vet. read more

I wanted to thank Dr. Gawley and the Cat Clinic staff for the excellent support they provided my kitty and me over the past number of years. Unfortunately, I had her put to sleep yesterday. I feel bad about it and miss her. She was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after I got her. She also went through infrequent episodes of refusing to eat and losing control of her bowels. The Cat Clinic was great about getting her stabilized and back to normal. About a year ago, they did a test for pancreatitis and she came up positive. I didn't mind the shots (diabetes) and pills (pancreatitis) after both of us got used to the routine. I went in twice for training on how to give her pills and appreciated the Cat Clinic's help in this. Believe it or not, she looked forward to the routine; it was guaranteed attention. I had her kenneled at the Cat Clinic a number of times when I went out of town. At first, she hated going. At some point, I could tell she didn't mind going there anymore. The assistants would give her attention twice a day. That made a huge difference. She would be calm on the way there and on the way home. Over the past month, her acute pancreatic symptoms became more severe and frequent. It's an awful disease. She would appear to be on death's doorstep for a few days and then come back to almost normal. I mainly took the final step when I realized how much pain she was in when the episodes occurred. I'm going to sprinkle her ashes under her favorite tree this spring. As a side note, my personal experience with this clinic as a whole varied according to what I was feeling at the time. Outside of normal annual exams (easy and no worries), I would be taking my kitty in for health problems. I would be worried about her, what the problem might be and the unknown cost of the service. It did take time to get her health issues understood and under control. I felt much better once I understood what I was facing in the way of my aging kitty's health conditions. I felt like they all knew my kitty personally, appreciated and cared about her. read more
