Dr. Zenner has been great and since I've had so much work done in such a short amount of time I have got to interact with a lot of the staff and everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and seems to be genuinely nice and caring. I had some pretty bad dental experiences in the past at other dentist offices so I do get a little anxious having to get work done but they have truly made it a great experience it's no longer some daunting scary task I keep pushing off.

And I did have the best experience of my life. I had a few complications with my teeth and gums, but we all worked through it and everything is perfect now thanks to them. They are going to encourage me to come back every six months to get my teeth cleaned, in the past, I would never ever ever consider going back to a dentist to get my teeth cleaned, but this dental company is so good. I have paid a total of $446.00 out of pocket for the services I received from this office. That is after an $80 credit. I did receive bills for even more money, but I left a negative review on Yelp and was contacted by the practice. I was told I should ignore the bills I was sent because the practice has no control over their system and it sends out bills whether money is owed or not. My experience of medical practices is that an estimate of service costs is provided prior to provision of services and it does not tend to be hundreds of dollars off base. I don't recommend the practice simply because their patients should have a reasonable understanding of what a service will cost. It's too much of a risk. There are many dental practices out there that can tell you precisely what you will owe them for your care and that have gained complete mastery over their billing system. But no complaints about the clinical care.

I recently had a temporary crown placed on 13 May at Surprise Smiles. Before leaving, I was…read morespecifically told that if it broke or if I had any issues, I should contact them and they would get me in to repair it. I also had a follow-up appointment scheduled for 1 Jun for the permanent crown placement. The following day, I had a root canal completed by the endodontist, and that experience went great. On 19 May, my temporary crown broke. I left an after hours message with Surprise Smiles and received a return call the next day. Instead of helping repair the crown as I had originally been told, I was simply reminded that I already had an appointment on 1 Jun. I explained that I was in a significant amount of pain and was then told to contact the endodontist. You do not need a dental background to know what the answer was going to be, but I still reached out to the endodontist anyway. They told me they do not do crowns and that I needed to contact the dentist who placed it. I have since contacted the VA and cancelled all additional care through Surprise Smiles. What shocked me most was how quickly responsibility was passed off instead of trying to help a patient who was in pain.

She thoroughly explained every step of the appointment, was very friendly and personable, and consistently checked to make sure I was comfortable and not experiencing any pain or discomfort. When the dentist came in, the hygienist provided a very thorough update on everything we had discussed and completed up to that point. After the exam, the dentist clearly explained what to expect moving forward. This was by far the most thorough and pleasant experience I have ever had at a dental office. I would highly recommend Surprise Smiles, and I will absolutely be scheduling my family here as well.

He chose not to call, prompting me to write this review. As part of my visit on 9/24, before the cleaning I specifically went there for, the dental assistant performed a gum charting exercise (if not familiar, it's an easy Google lookup to describe what the charting numbers mean). For each tooth, she read out to her assistant 4s and 5s. A 12 year old failing implant had a much higher reading I'm sure was accurate. Dr. Noll told me I need a deep-cleaning to the tune of approximately $600...I subsequently saw my periodontist a few days later to evaluate the old implant. He performed another charting that revealed 2s and 3s. I then asked if I'd benefit from a deep cleaning, and I guess because of professional courtesies between doctors, he reluctantly told me I won't benefit from the procedure. It was the difference between what I was told at this appointment and what my periodontist said that led me to move on.

According to my insurance benefits, scaling and root planing for all four quadrants is covered at 80%, leaving me responsible for 20% of the allowed amount. However, the initial estimate appeared to reverse that split. After I raised the issue, the amount was adjusted, but my quoted responsibility still exceeded 30% without justifications or explanation. My insurance benefits also indicate that fluoride application is covered at 100%, yet I was asked to pay for it. Because the insurance calculations and out-of-pocket costs remained unclear, I declined the treatment and left the office. I hope the practice improves its insurance verification process and provides patients with clear, accurate, and itemized cost estimates before treatment.
