My girlfriend at that time in September 2019 & I had a trip to Newport News to visit a friend, when we left on that Sunday morning we went to Virginia Beach to enjoy the beach. Then, we took the scenic way back on the eastern shore of VA and stayed at Cape Charles Motel just outside Cape Charles, VA on US 13. The next morning we checked out of the motel. I was annoyed the night before as I had thought there was some sort of breakfast included when I was asking about the times of the breakfast, and he said they didn't have there. So, we ventured into town for Cape Charles Coffee House. It's a cute, historic place with an upstairs area with additional seating. The brunch & coffee was solid & nice staff, but I do remember it took awhile to get the food. Perhaps, they were on Cape Charles time as opposed to DC-Baltimore area time I'm used to...haha. We enjoyed this little coffee shop for breakfast. They have a full menu. The waitstaff were very friendly. It seemed like a local spot and very crowded. I gave it four stars because it was pretty chilly in there. That could've been because of the cold temperatures and older building. We would definitely go back. read more

Had a pretty solid breakfast here. We came in with a larger party of six on a Saturday, and it was pretty packed. It's small inside, so be prepared for a wait unless you get lucky like we did. We were able to snag a table outside right when another party was leaving. They have a quaint little menu with typical breakfast items and lunch fare. I ordered the breakfast burrito and added sausage to it. It was pretty good, and the salsa added a little kick to it. This with some fruit and a glass of oj made for a very solid breakfast. Be patient with the servers, and keep in mind that a little bit of kindness goes a long way since it does get packed here. This was an amazing place to eat brunch, when we were on a weekend getaway for our anniversary! My husband and I really enjoyed going to Cape Charles Coffee House for breakfast during our weekend trip there. So much so that we ate there twice! I had the breakfast burrito and added sausage. It came with sour cream and salsa. It was very filling and I enjoyed the fruit that came with it. The service was a little slow, but since we were not on a time crunch it wasn't an issue. If you're coming with a larger group (over 4 people), there may be a bit of a wait to get seated since they don't have many big tables. read more

The best parts of this adventure here were not the food, but rather the coffee, kind waitresses, and gorgeous historic location and building! We headed in early on a Sunday and there were still tables empty when we showed up, which started to fill as we sat. We ordered relatively quickly but even as wed just barely beat the rush, we still waited over 30 min for food which wasn't ideal with a hangry 5 year old. The food was decent, not bad, not exceptional, but solid food for brekkie with good portions. I did like that the fruit was more than just 1-2 pieces but good looking fruit and different kinds. Wow gorgeous, and the waitresses are super nice and truly accommodating, I'd really just recommend grabbing a coffee on a busy day and grabbing it to go breakfast elsewhere. Let you check it out, taste the exceptional coffee, which I will say was very good (I like my cappuccino less milk, less sweet and they nailed it), say hello to the nice ladies, and head onto the beach without having to wait. read more

This is a really cool coffee spot. Located in downtown Cape Charles, this two story coffee house is in the bones of a former bank or other historic building. The charm pours out of every corner here with its sweeping ceiling, brass fixtures and vintage vibe. This coffee house also has a small breakfast menu that is delightful. We were in Cape Charles during the tourist off-season for a wedding and we had plenty of safe space away from other diners. I loved the mimosa and the French toast! If we had more free time, I probably would have come here again. I can't say it enough how much I loved the charming and welcoming atmosphere. Another patron (not hired by the coffee house) was strumming 90s alternative on a guitar while friendly baristas served up coffee. It felt good to give this beautiful spot our business! THE place to have breakfast in Cape Charles. Belgian Waffles, French Toast, Eggs galore like Breakfast Burrito. Their lunches great too. A top favorite is chicken salad with dried cranberries and walnuts - served with Lettuce or as sandwich. Their cream of tomato is delicious. Yum. Sat outside on the patio for lunch around 1:30pm on Saturday and had a really nice and pleasant server who paid just enough attention and was SO polite. Everything was her "pleasure". We felt like we were at Chick-Fil-A! She was so sweet. I had the egg salad sandwich on rye bread and house-made potato salad with a huge pickle while my date had the rueben on rye with the same sides. His sandwich was AMAZEBALLS. Mine was good too - simple egg salad sandwich with tomato and lettuce - but his was the clear winner out of the two. For sure. Also - that potato salad was on point. Our food was out quickly and tasted great - fresh and yummy. It wasn't especially busy inside - but I'm glad we didn't have to wait long for our meals. We came here a little before 10am on a weekday morning and was surprised by the lack of organization from the moment we entered the place. No one greeted us nor told us the process of what we needed to do to be seated for breakfast. If they weren't going to tell us, it would've been very helpful if they had a sign up to let us know that it wasn't a self-seated restaurant as all the customers seemed a bit confused by the line. The line seemed to be mixed with ppl who wanted to just grab coffee to-go and/or ppl who wanted to dine. All in all, it took us about 25 minutes to be seated; and took another 10 minutes for someone to take our orders--and that was with me flagging someone to come by our table to take them. In addition, it took us another 25 minutes to get our foods and drinks. I understand it's the week of spring break; however, they should know the process of how hectic the place can get, so for the management to not have a game of action for these kinds of circumstances was a bit mind-boggling for me. The food itself was nothing in particular. The portion was decent; and the coffee was just plain dark and bold--I usually drink my coffee black and I ended up not finishing my cup. No one came by asking for a refill on the coffee or my son's water; and once again, I had to chase down for our check. I do want to give a big thanks to the man who may have been the busboy...he did come by with our water and was friendly towards us. He was literally the only one in the restaurant who was actually nice and knew how to deal with customers. Side Note: 1. I was charged $4 for a cup of just regular coffee--and no, I didn't get a refill nor was offered one. Apparently the price of a cup of coffee when you sit-in is $4 although if you get it to-go, it's between $2-$2.75ish. I thought this was a true blow for this restaurant. I've never been to any coffee shop--not in California nor New York City where they charged me $4 for a CUP of black coffee. But my husband's medium sized iced coffee was $3.25. When asked about the price to the owner, he was extremely rude and told me that the cup of coffee was $4 because it's 2023... 2. There's a good amount of parking near the place, and are free. Cape Charles' beachfront is about 10 minute walking distance from this place. read more

Perfect spot for breakfast!! Nice quiet morning on a beautiful day, such a good spot to sit outside. My cappuccino was excellent (more like a latte but I really enjoyed it), and my husband's chai was very good but really sweet, I'm glad I didn't get that but was good to try. The pancakes and french toast were totally unexpectedly amazing. So much flavor that I didn't even use the syrup. And the fresh fruit it comes with is good as well. Also unexpected was the side of fried potatoes and ketchup, that wasn't on the menu. Wonderful! The coffee house is a two story building over a hundred years old which used to be a bank. My daughter ordered an iced mocha and chocolate croissant. She said it was delicious. A large cappuccino (20 Oz), a medium cappuccino (16 Oz), 2 BELT breakfasts sandwiches cost about $25 plus tip. A good deal. The building is also really cool. A very large brick historic venue with 2 floors, tall ceiling, and architectural details you can't help staring at while you wait. Fantastic breakfast and coffee. I have seen a few bad reviews regarding this place. I just visited this weekend. I would like to say, my breakfast and two vanilla lattes were good, the prices were fare and not too high, and our server was fun and friendly. The building is really pretty & the servers were really nice. We tried it again a year later & it's pretty much the same. The food is good. It's really unclear how to be seated-- it felt disorganized & a long wait. Our kids were really hungry & there's no kids menu. I ordered French toast & said the kids would share but didn't ask for two plates (my kids are 4 & 1). They charged a $1 to split French toast so that became a frustratingly expensive meal for little kids. I understand the challenges facing restaurants but that felt unnecessary. Nowhere in Cape Charles has a legitimate espresso bar. I've tried the book store, coastal baking, this place & more. The beans all taste burned & they don't foam the milk properly for cappuccinos. The price sprung on us at pick-up was exorbitant. The bread was so stale the sandwiches were inedible. The owners don't care - it's all about how much they can make. Run to any any other place. Even homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are better than $10 sandwiches with stale bread, no sides or condiments.
