What a gem in Cape Charles! We went in for drinks and walked out with new friends. This place is super lux. It gives a city vibe through and through. My friend was not drinking and they were very accommodating making her a berry smash with no alcohol. It was so good! I started with an espresso martini. It was literally the best espresso martini I've ever had in my life! I knew something was different then I realized they make their own coffee liquor! I could have drank the espresso martinis all night long but de used to switch it up and got the dirt cosmo next. Again, very good! My last drink was a special request, cucumber and gin martini. This is a family owned business and you can tell they take pride in the product and the experience. Cape Charles Distillery is a 'must do" if you're visiting Cape Charles and worth a side trip if you're passing down the Eastern Shore on your way to the Outer Banks. The Distillery has been around for a while now, so their products are pretty much perfected at this point. I'm a fan of their bourbon (which isn't always available), but the Vodka seems to be most popular. The real experience comes from visiting the distillery and exploring their many interesting cocktails. The bartenders are absolute professionals and keep things fun. The food is also excellent and the servers can help advise on parings. The ambiance is classy but chill. It's a great place to spend a long lunch or lazy afternoon. read more

The best vibe on Mason Street! Such a fun place and relaxing at the same time. Delicious hand crafted cocktails served in a lovely outdoor seating area. All the drinks are the same price ($15). I had a Moscow Mule and my husband had the French 75. We loved it so much here that we came back the next afternoon. Our service was attentive and took our orders quickly. Let me say that the one of these stats is for the service. The staff were wonderful and attentive and the issues we had have nothing to do with them. Now where to start. We planned our visit weeks beforehand and did what we could for research through the internet. The distilleries website has a couple issues or a lack of general clarity. First thing you need to understand is that this is a restaurant and NOT a distillery. They DO NOT do any kind of tasting. You can buy bottles (and her is where the second issue comes in) they have almost nothing in stock. The only things they had when we were there were their rye and their maple whiskey. The website also lists and impressive array of local oysters. When we got there though they only had 1 varietal of the 6 or so listed on the website. The website gives the impression that this is a distillery / brewery type environment. It is actually a restaurant. We had a small plate that was good. We also had some very good cocktails. Had we known that it wasn't a distillery and was actually a restaurant we may have still stopped in but our expectations would have been quite different and we would not have found someplace else to have lunch. read more

Just had an incredible dinner at the distillery with a friend of 40 years. The beef Wellington, lobster, and White Russians made with bourbon were outstanding! We had money to spend but weren't offered a table but we're told we could order drinks to go. That kind of annoyed me because it felt like they were screening customers. Maybe they just thought we were on our way to the beach. Assume positive intent. My husband got a Manhattan and I ordered the Mint Julep since I'm from South Carolina and that seemed apropos. It's a neat place, although while their decore is a bit eclectic, it is also a little weird. We sat inside, but there was plenty of seating outside. I am excited to visit them again once they open in their new, larger location, across the street. We stopped in for drinks, and didn't have the food. I had a bourbon, and my wife tried one of their mixed lemonades. The bourbon was just okay, but I am a snob. My wife absolutely loved her cocktail, and had a second. The servers were friendly, but the day we were there, they were very busy, so they weren't super attentive. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in town. read more

We stopped into Cape Charles Distillery on a Saturday evening. It's a smaller venue, but that seems to be the norm in the area. The inside is nicely decorated and I loved the couch sitting area. All of the tables and bar chairs seemed to be full when we walked in, but as we were looking for a spot a high top opened up in the smaller room where a band was setting up. We looked over the menu for a while before a server stopped to ask us if we were doing ok, and we told her were still needed to order drinks. The menu didn't list prices, but mentioned something about a token system being used for tastings or cocktails. No one ever explained that to us, so I'm not sure what that is about. I ordered the Bourbon Peach Tea drink, and my husband had the Strawberry Vodka Basil. Both were tasty, though quite sweet. We agreed we liked the Strawberry more, but there were small ribbons of basil that made it just a little difficult to easily drink. Our tab came to $25 for two drinks. Maybe a little high given the drinks didn't seem too strong, but it would have been nice if prices were listed up front. We only had two drinks and then paid up front as no one ever came back to check if we needed anything else. We did enjoy the live music, and would perhaps be interested in returning for a tasting, if that's an option. We never quite figured that out! read more

It's a really cool spot for a drink, but without food options (and with a two drink max) it just isn't a place you can stay for long. What a cool place. Cape Charles is absolutely the best small town to visit. This distillery is next level. So cute inside, nice ppl working here. Amazing patio we sadly did not get to enjoy! I was really hoping to try of the shmancy cocktails but we did not have time. Stopped by this place on our way out of town. (They ARE open Monday now!) The bourbon is truly special. The moonshine is life-changing. The prices are a little high but not unreasonable. I don't mind when it is such a special place, and like supporting local spots! It was a beautiful Saturday, and hubby and I opted to stay inside - mainly because I wanted to watch the bartenders work their magic on so. many. cocktails. It was wonderful to watch! They recently moved to a new location across the street from the original location. The service and drinks are amazing just like they were in the old location. I do feel like the aesthetic of the new place is a bit....confusing? There are gold plated cheetah tables with ceramic roosters on the coffee tables. A snake table with gaudy light fixtures that hurt your eyes. It definitely does not fit the vibe of cape Charles or a distillery. It was honestly a bit disappointing as it felt like more of a cheap Vegas spot than a kitschy cool cape Charles bourbon room like the old place. Hopefully this is just a transition phase as they open up their new location and can continue to do what they do best! Definitely pay a visit to get the best drinks in cape Charles! read more

I visited Cape Charles over Presidents Weekend with my boyfriend and brother and we were pleasantly surprised that the Distillery was open! The servers all wore masks and guests wore masks when not seated at their tables. Tables were spread out and everything seemed well maintained and clean. Our server was just lovely (I remembered her from the summer) and really answered all of our questions. I was craving the Lavender Lemonade since that was my go-to drink over the summer, but they were out of lavender syrup. Instead I ordered the Cosmo which was delicious, but not nearly as good as the Porch Night... I can't wait to come back and have another (and maybe try making it at home!) We really loved the drinks here and the bartender was super friendly. We happened to beat the rush so actually sat inside in the AC at the bar and got to chat with him. After about an hour a huge crowd came in, and he was the only one there to make drinks, really wanted to help him. We mostly stuck with Bourbon and Rye drinks and ended up taking a bottle of maple bourbon home that has since been consumed. This is a really cool spot in a beach town. read more
