Something has dramatically changed with this company over the last year. We had our fence installed as well as a playground installed over the last few years and were very happy with the service and response. Last summer, just a month after getting our playground installed a tree fell on the playground breaking a few of the slats on the roof. When we called, Cape Cod Fence told us that they would come out and fix the slats and we were really excited. Upon several follow ups last year we were still assured of them getting fixed. My wife politely followed up this spring after not hearing back from anyone at Cape Cod Fence and she was mocked, told that no one ever made this promise to us and they continued to be rude and provide a lecture to her on customer service. We purchased a swing set for our grandson from Cape Cod Fence. They were nice enough to store it until we were ready for it to be installed. Once they were notified that we were ready they came within a week. Due to drainage issues we requested they reposition the swing set ( no small task) which they did the very next week. They also suggested a different slide and brought that along so that we could select which one we liked better. Cape Cod Fence did a beautiful job installing the fence on the property. Once the fence was up it was determined that perhaps another repositioning of the swing set was in order. When I called to ask if this was possible, they assured me it was and came out by the end of the week. Everyone from the office staff, to the installers, to the estimators could not have been more helpful. We purchased our fence many years ago when we had just gotten our two rescue dogs. They did a great job installing it then, and have always been great about coming out to replace posts or latches on the gates as they have been needed. We are beyond happy with the quality of their products and the customer service that they have provided. read more

On that day, up to two feet of snow fell in CT, as Winter went kicking and screaming into Spring. It was a heavy snow that caused snowplow carnage to dozens of mailboxes and posts all over my neighborhood. We've lived at our address for thirty years, and never had snowplow damage to our mailbox until March 14, when the snow spray and air born snow boulders applied a Mike Tyson-like knockout punch to our mailbox and post. Cape cod fence co. Came out to our home to install a dual mailbox that my neighbor and I prepaid cash for. This was to replace one the old dual we had before obtained from them. It was 5x5 cedar, with a platform with a space wide enough to hold a package between the 2 mailboxes. We requested and prepaid cash the exact same box. What they gave us was very inferior! Boxes close together, post was not 5x5, and main post has a 3-ft crack from top of main post! The installers came and left, taking away original, and we only discovered the poor quality after they were gone. I called them to let them know that this was not the post we ordered. And they responded with, yes it is, and fill in the crack with wood filler! Terrible customer service! We will NEVER do business with them again! read more

I had a phone conversation with Cape Cod in May to get an estimate on a fence. I had not closed on the house yet but was advised it was a good idea to get the quote ahead of time. I scheduled the appointment for 2:30 p.m and let him know I don't yet own the home so I will meet them outside the house. I made sure the realtor cleared everything with the homeowner so there would be no issues. About a half hour went by and no one showed up. I called and was told the guy was in West Hartford and would be right over. When the guy arrived, he told me he had been to the house at 1:30. I followed up via email three times over the next three weeks looking for an estimate. It is now late July and I never received one. So forget them. read more

Went here and asked for a 46" wide "racked" ( slanted ) chain link gate be made. Was told better to keep gate squared even though I preferred and knew a racked gate would work better. I ordered the squared gate and told 2-3 days to make. Went to pickup and gate was wrong size even though written correctly on order slip. Told a new gate will be made. Went back 3rd time and gate was not new but modified the previous gate. Brought home and upon closer inspection, weld not acceptable. Called and was told welder would call me directly. Went back 4th time and met with welder. Told him my dissatisfaction and that I originally wanted a "racked" gate but talked out of it. To my surprise, welder said he had fabricated many racked gates. Gave him exact measurements and told me he'd make and have ready next morning for sure. Went back 5th time. Gate not ready as told. Again, had to wait. Called 2 days later and picked up gate. This is now my 6th trip here !! Gate measurements correct EXCEPT now missing 2 top caps. From beginning to end took 12 working days ( was told 2-3 ) and 6 trips back and forth and still had two missing parts ! Extremely frustrating to say the least ! I made two requests for estimates on their website. I followed up with a third email and finally someone visited and measured the fence I needed replaced on August 20th. On August 27th, I followed up and I was told that the estimator would reach back out to me. Here we are on September 13th still no estimate. 45 days from start to finish with no estimate. I give up. What a terrible waste of time. Looking at some of the other Yelp reviews, this is not an isolated incident. CCFC has some serious work to do, or they might as well turn off the lights and move on read more

Awful fencing company. Spend a great deal of money having the wooden fence installed. Barely survived a year before it came broken and parts of it collapsed. Never again with this company and now spending more money for repairs. read more

I received a quote on a vinyl fence. First, most installers, owners , estimators, etc. don't know the town requirements ( heights of fence, set back etc.). Second of all, their quote was the only one of 6 that did NOT INSTALL FENCE POSTS IN CONCRETE!! WOW ! Their competitors know this about Cape Cod Fence. Unfortunately I cant review on quality of work because I never even received an estimate. I had to wait 1.5 weeks to have someone come out. Planned my work schedule that day to be home for appointment. I get a call 2.5hrs before appointment to be told he is already at my house. So, Im trying to explain what I am looking to have done and his phone keeps cutting in an out, a little frustrating. So, the call ended with him saying that he would contact me when he got back to the office that day with estimates (it's Thursday). I wait til the following Wednesday and call to get an update. I explain to woman on phone what happened and she said "Oh ok please hold, he's right out front. I'll go get him so he can discuss this with you." I wait a couple minutes only to get the shrug off....."He is busy, give me your name and address and he will call you when he is done". Well, it's now 5 days later and still no call back!!! Horrible customer service! Almost a 3 week process and I was never even provided an estimate. Well, don't bother now CCF, other companies out there I'm sure would be happy to provide me products and services. read more

I have a friend who lives in Middlebury who was in there on 8/28/18 and purchased a 10ft post. It needed to be cut so they sent her to a sawmill 17 miles away and when she got there they said they didn't do that and turned her away. She took the post back CCF, told them what happened and asked for a refund of her $35.00 which they refused to give her, as "it isn't their policy". Now, this took place in just a matter of a couple of hours - it wasn't as though she kept it for two weeks. After some conversation, they ended up taking the post back and gave her $10. She didn't think that was fair and neither do I.....but, they did. I wonder if they treated her like that because she's a woman and a senior citizen. Obviously, they had no compassion for her. The man she was dealing with actually walked away and left her standing there. I'm so angry for my friend. She did not deserve that kind of treatment. Don't bother doing business with them unless you are prepared and fully aware of "Their Policies". Marjorie T. read more
