My wife and I came here with my daughter who we were visiting. Coming from Arizona we always try and get as much seafood on the coast as we can. We didn't have a reservation but were seated within 15 minutes. Our booth however was probably the most uncomfortable booth I have ever sat in. My wife and I couldn't find a comfortable spot anywhere. Very strange seats. We all got the watermelon margarita special which was fantastic. The crab dip was delicious. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which were just okay. The flavor was decent, but there was definitely more sauce than grits, and I wish the portion had been a bit more generous (especially since grits are such a budget-friendly ingredient). The Way they have the plate shows all the grits piled up just on one side and that right side was just sauce That said, the overall vibe and service made up for it. Quick weekend visit to the area lead us to try this highly recommended seafood restaurant. Surprisingly they are located in a strip mall. Would highly recommend calling in advance for reservations on Friday because all three locations in the area book up fast. Luckily the Hays Lane location was able to accommodate us with a bar high top. Our server was Susie and she was a doll, even offered local bar suggestions for a drink after dinner. Ordered the Hushpuppy appetizer. If you get a fried platter don't bother ordering the appetizer as there will be hushpuppies on your plate. Main dishes were the Broiled seafood Platter(shrimp, mussels, haddock, scallops) sides included asparagus and rice pilaf. The fish was slightly overcooked. Also ordered the Fish and Chips. We were looking for an upscale place to meet friends where the food would be excellent and the ambiance supportive of us catching up with each other - relaxed and casual. I liked the setup right away, and the service was efficient and friendly - but not intrusive. The menu had plenty of sumptuous choices; I chose broiled scallops. Mine were perfect, not overcooked, tender and flavorful. I love seafood if it's prepared well, and these were among the best I've had up and down the Atlantic seaboard. Bre was attentive and offered great selections. Made a mean mocktail. Came back for an early dinner two days later. Had the tuna sandwich, amazing. The shrimp burger with some modifications, drool worthy. But the show stopper was the lobster tail. I've had lobster everywhere Maine included and this is hands down the best I have had. I took my wife to Wilmington for a quick weekend trip, and we were excited to indulge in seafood before heading home. Cape Fear ranked high while we were reviewing the Yelp ratings for seafood restaurants. My wife ordered the Figure 8 stuffed flounder, and I chose the special: a golden tailfish served with risotto cakes and apple slices. The fish was excellent--sweet, flaky, and cooked to perfection. I also ordered the mussels as an appetizer and had to ask our server for more bread so the broth wouldn't go to waste. Our server was fantastic, efficient, and attentive. For starters we had the peel n eat shrimp, where cooked to perfection, with old Bay, and butter on the side for dipping! I had the mahi-mahi pan seared wit lemon, asparagus!
