Another gem of shopping while perusing Washington St. I've been looking for a new wallet. Specifically more of a minimalist wallet with a clip since I don't carry much on me. I've looked all over even on the great Amazon but could not find anything I liked. I also like to feel it in my hand which I could not do if buying online. Little shop that's jam-packed with the essentials for Men & Women: Belts, Clutches, Handbags and a few other items. Liked the look of most of the bags and decided instead on several leather cuffs and bracelets. Also picked out an RFID wallet with a clear screen for hubby's Metro North monthly pass- which he liked a lot. Cape May Leather is actually located in a multi-unit building that houses several business right in Washington Street Mall- and came across it, before heading home. Name escapes me, but the owner(?) was very pleasant as she described some of the leather designers she showcases in her shop. Hubby's wallet was a grand total of $46 and change- which honestly is the most supple Argentinian leather I've touched. And the smell...oh my gosh! My bracelets on the other hand, are also quality leather, made with cute grommet details in it -adding a nice touch to them. Went the the Cape May Leather store and planned on purchasing a fanny pack for $17.95 and a backpack for $24.95. Both of these items were tag with these amounts. When checking out the price was rang up for the backpack for $37.95. I said this price is not what was on the bag. They explained someone made a mistake and tagged the bag wrong and they would not honor the price that was on the bag. I explained I am paying for the bag at the price that was tagged when I came to the register. They would not honor the price. Be careful with this place. They tried to rid me off. I am going to report them to the BBB. I left buying nothing. If an item is tagged and they made the mistake it doesn't become miy mistake. They should of honored the price at the tagged price. read more
