I was looking for a dance store where I could buy my daughter pointe shoes when I ran across Capezio Dance Shoes on Yelp. The reviews are mixed but I decided to give it a try anyway. I am so glad that I did. When we walked in the store, we were greeted by Ashley who proceeded to spend the next 45 minutes with us in an effort to help my daughter find a good pair of pointe shoes. She took the time to explain to my daughter how the shoes should feel, how her toes should feel, and what to look for in pointe shoes. She brought out several pairs of shoes, different styles and different brands. She listened to my daughter's concerns and offered suggestions. This was the longest time a salesperson has spent with my daughter regarding buying pointe shoes. Ashley was very thorough and I felt that she really took her time with us and we didn't feel rushed. She sewed ribbons and elastics on the shoes for us right there and we only had to wait about 10 minutes, instead of having to make an extra trip back to the store to pick them up. This stores sells several kinds of dance shoes, leotards, tights, and dance accessories. Everyone was friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking in the back of the store, just drive through the alley behind the store. We will definitely be back when we need more shoes! 29/100 read more

This store has everything I could need in one place. I have a beginner in my hands with multiple types of dance classes and I only needed to go to this one store to fully outfit my beginner. UGH! I wish I would have read the reviews here before I made the mistake of buying something here, but too late. Yelp and learn. I too had absolute CRAP customer service from this store. I've been insanely busy lately and my 5 yr old is starting a new jazz/hip hop class today and I needed shoes. Normally I do buy most things like this off Amazon, but I needed the shoes today and a mom friend told me this store was close to my house. I'll cut to the chase - if you have a NO RETURN policy: 1) Your a crappy business from the get-go. A business that has an absolute no return policy shouldn't be trusted. Unless you're selling hygiene products, it's a shady business practice and speaks volumes about how much you care about your customers satisfaction. 2) If you have this crappy policy, you should at least do the courtesy of telling people before you take their money, because it isn't common. I bought a pair of shoes for my daughter and after in the parking lot, I texted another mom from the dance school and she said it would be ok if she didn't have the shoes the first class. So I looked up the shoes on Amazon, from my phone, and found them for $15 less. When I walked back into the store - 5 minutes later - to try to return the shoes, I was apologetic and told her I found a much better price elsewhere and wanted to return them. The young girl was a total bitch to me, saying "We don't even take returns anyway. There are signs all over the store." I said, "Really?" and she said "Yeah, there are signs. We only do exchanges and store credit" all while not even having the decency to stop sweeping with her back to me. So I told her I felt ripped off and I would never return to the store again. I made sure the nasty old hag in the office (older woman w short hair whom I'm asssuming is the owner or manager) heard me since she was shooting me a nasty look from her desk. If you know a customer who has just come through your door has a kid in a dance class, why wouldn't you treat them properly to try to gain their return business? Oh... right... because you're a stupid ass. Don't waste your time here. Especially for young children. You can get tap and ballet shoes at Payless for half the price and everything else you can get at Target or online. read more

Our go to place for dance wear for theater performances and cheer tights, usually after trying Target first, and always to no avail. They have all kinds of dance wear and shoes and accessories. So I don't know why I don't just come here first. I guess because they're not cheap. I always want to do my shopping for best prices first. But when you're looking for very specific things you can't find elsewhere or on Amazon, go here. They probably have what you need. Went there this afternoon to buy pointe shoes and the girl helping me was extremely rude. When I told her I wanted to try out the pointe shoes she said it was a long process and if I wasn't going to buy then she didn't want me trying them on. I dance with a prestigious ballet company and wanted to try out a different shoe to work in. I informed the girl and she acted as if I had no clue about pointe shoes. I often buy leotards and other dance clothing online but when it comes to shoes, I always go this store. Sure, if your kid is four years old you can buy any random ballet slipper (Payless, Target, etc.) and it's going to be just fine. However, when your child, a daughter in my case, starts doing 4-5 classes per week, you need quality shoes that fit properly. Until my first visit here, my daughter had been wearing ballet shoes too narrow for her feet. I had no idea! I will agree with other reviewers that the service is not always the greatest. But even that crabby woman is an EXPERT at what she does. I've always left the store confidant that I got the right shoe and the best possible fit for my daughter. read more

The store itself had a great selection. However, the employee helping us was very rude and had such a condescending attitude. I was purchasing ballet shoes for my seven year old and had my two year old with me and she honestly just acted annoyed the entire time. We were looking for leotard sizes and no offer to help and she seemed once again annoyed when I asked her some questions about sizing. Also, she asked the name of our ballet studio and when I pronounced the French term wrong she corrected me with such an attitude. I speak three languages but sorry I don't have my French down. After reading the other reviews, I hesitated to walk into this store. I needed ballroom dance shoes for that night and it was the nearest place to where I live. The service was excellent, the girl that attended me was very friendly and found the shoes I needed quickly. I was in and out in less than fifteen minutes. The shoes cost $42 which is a reasonable price for that type of shoes. They go for more than $50 at the other places I looked online. read more

Sure, but I really needed to have my daughter fitted for the shoes so I don't invest extra time returning to Amazon. They are the only dance shop on this side of the valley. Good for basic needs... shoes for beginners, tights, shorts...but it's really focused on kids. I I've been there for special shoes and they didn't have them or offer to order. The sales people are usually nice. Limited stock. I would check your resources before going if you need something special. I was recently in to buy a few pairs of shoes. I would think this location would be a lot better then the other store I go to in on the other side of the Valley but I was wrong. I felt the employees didn't take the time to fit and made sure "it felt good". feeling good doesn't really mean it fit well. I am a professional dancer and I expected someone to at least FIT my shoe (i.e check width, length, ask/answer my questions and ask me questions on how I wanted my shoe fit etc). I came to exchange a few pairs of shoes since the FIRST TIME 2/4 shoes were too big. I had to bring a friend who used to work at a dancewear store for many years and basically SHE fit my shoes vs the employee who really didn't know what was wrong with the pair I brought it (didn't offer any other styles to fit my foot, my friend had to ask for styles to fit me vs employee suggesting what would work best / stood there and did not at least get involved in the shoe fitting.. hey my friend offered by she wasn't getting paid for it, I would at least expect someone to be more involved) Wont be coming back unless I bring my friend since the employees here dont get involved with the shoe fitting process.. read more

Customer service is amazing. I went in to have my daughter fitted for pointe shoes and the lady who helped us was very knowledgeable, thorough, and pleasant. She was able to look at my daughter's foot and see which shoes would be a good fit and was spot on. At the end, my daughter was torn between two pairs of shoes so they had her put one on each foot and see which feels better. Then she switched feet. she also gave her opinion on which pair looked better on my daughter's feet and which would be better for her in the long run (the pair she wouldn't break in as quickly). My daughter is VERY happy with the shoes she has now and would not hesitate to go back. read more

I'm in complete disgust....I called this store a few minutes ago to ask for help in getting my dear father tap shoes. I found the young woman who answered the phone to be very rude and quite frankly, unreceptive to helping my father in terms of him trying on shoes to make sure I would be purchasing the right size. When I tried to explain my situation, she quickly put me on hold, I'm not even sure she heard anything I said, and spoke to her manager. She then returned to the phone and said "Its not our policy to fit someone for shoes if you will not be purchasing them here, but we will do it this one time". I said, wow really, I'm sill purchasing them but if she would of let me talk, I would have told her that I'm out of town and can't get to my father so I was sending him there to make sure I was getting the right ones...she then said "mhmm well I'm just telling you what our store policy is". I was nice in my speaking to her, but it hurts my heart that she really didn't seem to care what my situation was, or had any interest to help. It's a shame...I'm a dancer myself and my father is a Hoofer from back in the day, but again I could barely get a word out before she cut me off to put me on hold. Went to this store to find a certain brand of ballet shoes. Was very impressed with their vast stock and their huge display wall of shoes. Dance shoes I didn't even know existed for hip hop etc. appreciated the fact that they have all sizes in stock. As well as several different brands. The woman who helped us was very knowledgeable about sizing and width etc. she showed us so many shoes and sizes and never acted impatient ...not at all. Never rushed us in any way. Ended up buying two pair of ballet shoes and one pair of jazz shoes. I had tried another store in Simi Valley but their selection was so limited and although they can order brands "they carry" and the size you " think " you might wear, don't want to wait for several days and have to go back again and again. Capizio store has a great selection of leotards, gymnastic leotards and even a selection of leotards that could be considered recital ready for all ages from tots to adults. I was impressed and apparently this store has gotten a lot better because the reviews from 2013 and 2014 were not always good. I will shop there from now on since I can go once and done. Their selection of ballroom shoes was amazing as well. Even had a sale table with lots of shoes. They also have stuff you don't see anywhere else related to dance. Very cool place to go. HORRIBLE customer service! Bought 3 pairs of ballet shoes and wore one pair for not even an hour and the insole came loose. I called to ask about an exchange since didn't have receipt anymore. Owner got on phone and acted like he was doing me the biggest favor and said as a one-time courtesy he'd let me exchange them but that all the shoes fall apart like that and he gets at least 3 calls a week from customers complaining of the same thing. I asked why would he sell shoes that always fall apart and his response was that they are all made poorly and he can't hold a gun to their head and make them use better glue. Really?? read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. This is the first and last time I will ever buy anything from this store. I checked AMAZON.COM and saw that I can get all the dance items I need online. I will never go back to this store and I will tell all the parents in the ballet studio to avoid this store. Last Saturday I bought 4 ballet items for my 3-year-old. I had my 2 young daughters with me so I had my hands full. At the cash register, I proceeded to check if the items I bought where the correct ones... the sales girl acted offended, so I let it go. My mistake. When I got home, I saw that we got the wrong sized shoes (the sales girl switched the right shoes with the wrong box. I went home with the right box but the wrong shoes inside). I also realized that we were not able to use the coupon we have which would have saved us $6 (10% discount). When I went back to the store 4 days later, there was no apology for the inconvenience they caused (wrong shoes in the box), and they wouldn't honor the coupon I bought with me (they said they will only use the coupon for the next item/s I buy). The sales girls in this store also have an arrogant attitude. What's with that? I told them they have very bad attitude. The older woman (owner) heard my conversation with her sales girl and did not do a single thing -- they really don't care about customer service here. read more

They do a very nice job of fitting pointe shoes and taking their time with dancers. Most of the staff seem knowledgeable and helpful.

we enter the store for a pointe shoe fitting and immediately the lady inside starts telling me how bad my pointe shoes are and has a terrible attitude. we start fitting and she starts getting aggresive and angry that i didnt like the pointe shoes. it wasnt my fault the shoes she gave me were far too small and tight. she kept going on an on about how educated she was in fitting and how she knew best. she was extremely rude and impatient. as i was trying different shoes she went on tapping her foot,rolling her eyes, and when the shoe wouldnt fit right she would yank it from my hand, go get new shoes and slam the old ones down. then she went on saying that my shoes were too loose and that she could stick three fingers in the vamp. THEY WERE DEAD SHOES!! OF COURSE YOU CAN STICK YOUR FINGERS INSIDE. if a shoe is being put on for the first time its stiff like hell and of course you cant stick anything inside the vamp.. THE CUSTOMER SURVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. IF I COULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS I WOULD. i would never go there for a pointe shoe fitting. whenever i tried asking the lady a question she got even more aggresive and rude and totally ignored the question and replaced it with a rude reply. the experience i thought would be great and new turned out horrible and shocking. i have never had such poor customer survice. read more
